The sensor that monitors the transmission fluid pressure in a Mazda3 is positioned on the outer part of the transmission case. To swap it out, you'll first have to remove the air filter housing. Start by popping the hood, then open the driver's door and locate the hood release lever near the left side of the steering wheel at the bottom of the kick panel. Once you hear the hood release, go to the front of the car, slide your hand between the grille and the hood, shift the hood latch to the right, and lift the hood up. After that, pull the tab on the airbox to open the lid and take out the air filter. Use a flat screwdriver or a nut driver to loosen the hose clamp on the air duct leading to the throttle body. Next, detach the bottom of the air filter housing from the engine bay and unplug the electrical connector linked to the sensor. Twist the sensor counterclockwise to detach it from the transmission.

In a Mazda3, the transmission fluid pressure sensor is typically located inside the transmission, connected to the valve body on one side. However, there are instances where this sensor may be mounted directly on the transmission.
