The 2018 Honda Civic hatchback provides two ways to open the trunk with an electronic release. The first method involves the key fob, which has a button showing an open trunk symbol. Press and hold this button on the key fob for a couple of seconds to release the trunk. The second approach is to use the interior button located on the driver's side door. This button can be found in front of the map pocket on the door. If you encounter issues with opening the hatch using the key fob, it may be due to a dead battery. You can easily replace the key fob battery by purchasing a new one from an online retailer, and the installation process can be completed in less than 5 minutes.

The trunk release button for the 2018 Honda Civic hatchback is situated on the left-hand side of the dashboard.

None of that applies to me. I cannot open my hatchback remotely because even though my key fob has a trunk release button, it doesn't work, and everything else on the fob is fine, so it's not the battery. Also, there is no trunk button on the driver's door or on the left side of the instrument panel. It seems like I was not given this feature.

Albert R. is mistaken. While sedan Civics have a trunk release button, hatchbacks do not. To open the hatchback trunk, you must completely unlock the car or use the trunk button on the key fob, then press the latch release button beneath the rear Honda emblem and lift it open manually.

Kent is right. The hatch on my car won't open despite pressing the key fob and the button under the Honda logo. I looked under the latch cover but didn't find any lever or button to release it. Seems like I might have to bring it to a dealership. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
