The amplifier for the 2004 Chevy Avalanche is situated behind the dashboard. If you encounter issues with the amp or radio not functioning, it is recommended to inspect the fuse box next to the steering wheel. Locate the fuse box by examining the left side of the steering wheel for a small seam or crack along the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to carefully open this panel. Inside, you will find various fuses. The back of the panel should display a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not present, you can refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for guidance. Identify the faulty fuse and remove it by pulling it out. Check if the thin metal strip connecting the two raised sections of the fuse is intact. If it is broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. Otherwise, the fuse is still functional and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are affordable, usually costing around $10. If replacing the fuse does not resolve the issue, inspect the wires for any damage, and if necessary, consider replacing the components themselves.

I'm not sure if the placement varies with a vehicle equipped with Bose audio (like mine), but it can be found below the center console, right under the storage compartment.
