Then, you need to access underneath the vehicle where you can observe the exhaust system. The sensor you are searching for will be situated in a bung on the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter. This sensor is referred to as sensor 2 since it comes after the catalytic converter. Issues with this sensor are often due to debris and contamination, so it's recommended to remove and examine it. If troubleshooting the sensor doesn't fix the problem, it's advisable to replace it with a new one.

I easily located and accessed the O2 sensor underneath the driver's side of the vehicle, on the exhaust pipe. After lifting the Jeep onto mechanic ramps, I used a 22mm wrench and a pipe for leverage to remove the old O2 sensor. Once I got it unstuck, installing the replacement sensor was straightforward. I made sure to apply anti-seize to the threads of the new sensor for future ease of removal. I bought an NGK brand sensor from Napa, which came with pre-lubed threads.
