The 2018 Hyundai Elantra uses eco-friendly coolant specifically designed for Asian vehicles, known as organic acid technology coolant. It's important to only use this type of coolant to ensure optimal performance and avoid damage to your engine. Mixing different types of coolant can decrease cooling efficiency and harm your engine's components by causing rust formation and potential clogging. If you're uncertain about the coolant in your car, you can temporarily top it off with distilled water without causing harm while waiting to get the correct coolant.

Water in a radiator system won't harm your engine and will only slightly decrease cooling efficiency until you switch to the correct coolant. Just so you know, antifreeze is named for its purpose of preventing freezing, providing corrosion protection, and increasing the boiling point of water. It doesn't actually contribute to the cooling process. And well, I can't help but laugh at the misconception that antifreeze cools the engine!
