A faulty clockspring is the primary reason why the steering wheel controls on your 2011 Kia Sorento, such as the horn and radio buttons, are not functioning correctly. The clockspring is a vital component that houses a coiled wire (ribbon cable) and enables the connection of the airbag, horn, and steering wheel controls while the steering wheel is turned left and right. Issues with the clockspring typically arise when the wires inside it wear out over time, leading to breakage. This can result in either an open circuit or a short circuit in one or more of the systems linked by the clockspring. As a result, functions like the horn, radio control, cruise control, or other components operated via the steering wheel may either cease working altogether or operate sporadically.
If the radio controls on the steering wheel of your 2011 Kia Sorento aren't functioning, you should inspect the wiring connected to the wheel.
