At times, the Honda Civic's security system may erroneously activate, preventing you from starting the car. If this occurs, there are a few steps you can take to address the issue. One approach is to disconnect the negative battery cable for fifteen to twenty minutes, which may help clear errors but might not always work. For newer Civic models, leaving the key in the "ON" position for at least 8 minutes can potentially reset the security system. However, with older models, additional steps involving the driver's side door lock may be required.
If your Honda Civic with an anti-theft system won't start, you can try resolving the issue by locking and then unlocking the door to effectively deactivate the anti-theft mechanism.
