I received a mailer for a match to win game promotion for Auto Maxx's Reprocessed Car Sale. I had a match and immediately knew something was up (and it's being run by FatWin, which I already know is sketchy as hell), so I did some Google searching and discovered that several other people have previously received the same exact pull-tabs from other car dealerships before, complete with the same or extremely similar serial numbers and the same exact combinations of symbols. Additionally it said to go online through a given link, and yet would not let me click continue after entering the code I was given. We went in to ask them to take us off the mailing list and their demeanor immediately shifted and they said they couldn't do that, we'd have to talk to the post office since it's sent out to everyone in the area. Although this might not technically count as a scam, it's still incredibly deceptive, and quite frankly unethical. I can't imagine how many people are out there who have gotten their hopes up from this thinking they can pay off their tuition, actually afford enough food or proper housing, etc. only to find out they've merely won $2 or a chance to enter yet another impossible lottery. It's cruel.

Just to make it clear, this review is to share my first hand experience at Automaxx on Gull Rd Kalamazoo. We received a notice to enter a lottery of some sort to win a prize. We did and won something we can’t see until we get to their dealership. Upon our arrival at the dealership. One of them attended to us. Long story short, we test drove the car, reached a deal that we were okay with. I have two cars. I was going to trade in one and they were going to payoff the other so that we can have one payment. They received all my information and asked me to provide my insurance details and as well call my automotive finance company to request a 10-day pay off. All this happened on a Saturday evening 9/4/21. The plan was to return on Tuesday to conclude the deal since Monday was Labor Day. They asked me to put a $100 hold on it, but one of them said no need as they’re confident that I won’t disappoint. We went home happy that we’ve bought a car and shared the good news with a couple friends. However, the topic changed on Tuesday. You see, I had told them that I can only make it between 4 and 4:30pm since I was going to work and they said it was okay. So, I expected that all that is remaining was to conclude the deal…haha…I wish but far from it. They guy started by saying that he was looking for the documents that it was sales day on Saturday but he could not find them. There I know something was fishing, I calmed myself down and just observed. After about 30 minutes, he handed it over to the other person saying he was sorry but that he could continue with the deal. He apologized and asked me not to worry that everything is fine and we got approval already. Additionally, he said I just need to transfer your info and then we are good. After doing that, he showed me the cost which jumped over $6000 from the originally agreed price. On top of that, my other car won’t be paid but increased the value of my other car by $1,300. Hmmm… long story short, I declined. He kept going inside to the other boss guy, who later came out to increase the warranty and reduced the price by $3,000 l. My impression was that I will get cash for the car I was going to trade in. In the end I was wrong as the whole price bumped back up to over $33,000. As if that was not enough, he said that I would have to go to Grand Rapids to join a particular credit union to get a 4.xx% APR else I’ll get 8%APR. At that point, it was clear the gimmicks that was going on. I was shocked disappointed but refused to be mad. They ran my credit multiple times than initially told. They said 1 point. I have already lost 7 points as at the time this is written. Everything was a lie. The guy lied right at my face and denied it. I am so so so disappointed for the time wasted, the energy, and the credit pulls on my account. I intentionally left some names and details out for security reasons. However, if you’re going to go to this dealership, be careful!
