Prior to going to Checkered Flag Honda, I had been to several different dealerships and NONE of them had the customer service nor patience like the people over at Checkered Flag Honda! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by several of their employees. Mike was my car sales man and did an AMAZING job! I felt ZERO pressure to purchase my new car. His customer service skills, knowledge of the company and all of the cars I took a look at is what I will expect out of anyone here on out in the car business. I couldn't thank Mike and his team for a great experience with purchasing my brand new 2016 Honda Civic!!

When my 2014 Honda CR-V, that I leased from Checkered Flag Honda, was flooded out by Hurricane Mathew, & rated totaled by USAA Insurance Company, I called the dealership immediately to get a replacement. I reached salesperson, Laura Vaughn, & explained my problem. I told her what I wanted, including color, extras, & she found a 2016 that matched with only 2 miles on it! She put a good on it, I came there on Saturday after the storm, signed some papers & left highly satisfied with the whole operation at Checkered Flag Honda!!

Someone to greet me in the service lane when I pulled my car in. My service advisor treated me like a person and not a number. They made eye contact and didn't rush me through.I inquired if my seats could be cleaned so my service advisor drove me over to the detail shop to make sure they could it done. Excellent service!When I return to pick up my car I'm not ignored any service advisor will ask me if I have been helped. My service advisor knew where my car was parked. I didn't have to go find it somewhere in the parking lot. The small things matte. Thank you!

Friendly environment, professional workers. Only reason I'm I'm rating this place a 3/10 because, I came in for an oil change and ended up paying nearly $500. I read the receipt and it was literally a couple filters changed and liquids were topped off. Labor was half the price. Because of this, I wasn't able to send money back home to my family and it was the first time I wasn't able to do so.

I would have given it a 5 star because the service was fast, I was very comfortable in the waiting area, and the gentleman who I worked with was great, but whoever worked on my car left it a mess. Usually when I have my oil changed somewhere, they vacuum and clean the windshield - it's pretty standard everywhere I've been. Also, there were huge grease smudge footprints left on the plastic rails next to my driver's seat up against the carpet. I had to SCRUB it for 10 minutes to get it off! My car shouldn't get returned to me dirtier than when it went in. That was disappointing.

What a refreshing change of the way you buy a car. Checkered Flag with their "Fast-Simple-Smart" way of buying a car couldn't be easier. The price of the car is listed on the window. No going back and forth. Also the price listed is well below MSRP which is rare for a Honda. Another Honda dealer up the street had a CRV with a price tag that had $2000 market adjustment added to it plus another $1000 for nitrogen tires, air freshener, paint sealant and pinstripes raising the MSRP by $3000. Checkered Flag had the car listed at $2600 below MSRP. Checkered Flags price is not negotiable but when its that low it isn't necessary. For the trade they give you two offers, one from an online program and one from one of their team leaders. You get the higher one. I was very satisfied with their offer. Finally, Larry Brown was the most pleasant person to deal with in my 40 years of buying cars. He is so laid back and a really nice person. I recommend him to anyone who is looking for a new car or even if you have questions about a new car. Very very happy that I chose Checkered Flag Honda!

After fifteen years my, wife and I decided to replace her 2002 turbo VW Beetle. We purchased this vehicle at Checkered Flag VW. I also have a BMW that although purchased in Massachusetts was serviced at Checkered Flag BMW. Our service from both Checkered Flag locations was in the beginning barely tolerable to ending in horrendously. I have gone out of my way to tell friends and acquaintances to avoid any dealing with any Checkered Flag. Yesterday I decided to search for a replacement for the VW. After recommendations from a number of sources we settled on 3 choices, including the Honda Civic, Toyota Corona and the Mazda 3. While running errands yesterday I asked a business owner, where,near his location, was one of the aforementioned car dealerships. He informed me that Checkered Flag Honda was just down the road on Virginia Beach Blvd. I informed him I would have nothing to do with any of Checkered flag dealerships. However, being near I did decide to go to Checkered Flag to price shop with the determination to spend no more than 10 minutes there.To make a long story short (I know, too late), I spoke with a sales associate Laura Vaughn, returned with my wife several hours later and bought a new Honda Civic. I could shower Laura with praise as to why I purchased a vehicle from her but surfice it to say that without my interaction with her and her natural personality and knowledge attributes, I would never have bought the vehicle. The personnel in the dealership, no matter what their job, were inherently friendly, not a Im doing my job attitude. Laura was the only reason I bought the vehicle.Other individuals that I encountered who contributed to my decision were the receptionist, Aron in finance, the appraiser, the floor manager and many others just walking by. This is a not hyperbole. I will recommend Laura Vaughn and the Honda dealership highly. The VW and BMW dealerships are still on my X recommendation list.

Shelly believed in my ability to get a car more than I did. Being in my late 20s , with low income, and without a drivers licenses, owning a car was mostly wishful thinking. She called me each day and took me out practice driving. She was patient, positive, and encouraging. The process took a couple weeks, but I was able to take the drivers test and pass! I was still nervous about affording a car, but she worked that out as well! She manged to get a car for me within my budget including a 3yr warranty. My car has low miles, is good on gas, and is a super cute red Mazda 2 2013, AND low cost insurance! With the help of Sammy I got less than a double digit interest rate on my loan! It took about a min or so for someone to great us. Even when employees walled right by us and you could tell we needed some help. I was nervous at my sales reps first impression. We mentioned what we were there for and she made the comment "You will not be driving away in that today." In the long run she explained why but it made me feel like we were about to be hassled. The process was very long, to the point I was getting impatient. I realized why though when we were just about done. Our finance guy was definitely working them numbers. The sales person as well as the finance person were definitely making sure we got the best deal and the best rate. Overall I had some mixed emotions but am happy with my purchase and will go back to checkered flag in the future!

I stopped by Checkered Flag Honda last Monday afternoon with friends to look at CRVs. I was tired after going by another dealership earlier. Sherri approached me and offered assistance. I listened to her but was only interested in maybe a CRV Ex. I left because I was tired. I located 2 used Pilots on the Internet so I called Sherri and made an appointment for Saturday morning. I can not express how impressed I was with the people that work for Checkered Flag Honda. Everyone was in a great mood with positive attitudes. So helpful to me. Sherri was eager to help me find a car that I would be happy with. We first drove the CRV. Then went to another place to look at the pilots. I test drove one of those and knew I had found a car. All though the process Sherri was so helpful and guided me though the process with ease. She and her team did everything to assure I got my car that day. I had never had a Honda nor had I ever been to that dealership. I was impressed by the happy attitude and customer service. I highly recommend this dealership if you plan to buy a car. There was a problem with the oil change. It was leaking a few days later. The service department offered several options to solve the problem and not cause damage to my car. In the end a mechanic came to my house and was able to solve the issue quickly. I was impressed by that kind of service.

But this is one review I had to write myself and express the exceptional, outstanding service that I received from Chad and Sherri at Checkered Flag Honda.I recently bought a new 2016 Honda Accord Sport Sedan and the experience was incredible. Chad greeted my wife and I upon arrival and we immediately established a great rapport. Chad's professional, personable and knowledgable persona set the tone for the entire process. Sherri and Chad stayed past the hours of operation to assist my wife and I, to ensure that we were happy with our decision.They were upfront and honest about everything and went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were met. These professionals have set the bar high for all of the dealers in Hampton Roads and personally I have been to several dealers in the Hampton Roads area in the last two weeks and from my point of view Checkered Flag Honda is untouchable. A few weeks ago we took a day trip, from the Raleigh NC area to buy a 2015 certified pre-owned Civic from Checkered Flag Honda, 197 miles away. Why? The day before, we drove a 2014 Civic at a local Carmax. We loved the car but we weren't sure about the deal we would be getting. We came home and did a 200 mile search on the internet to see what else was available. We found a 2015 at Checkered Flag that had 12,000 fewer miles, was $900 less, AND it was a certified pre-owned! We read all the great reviews and Larry Brown's name kept getting mentioned, over and over. The next day, I called as soon as the dealership opened to check to see if the car was still available before making the trip, and Larry Brown answered the phone. He said he was scheduled to be off, but come in to work a few hours. It felt like it was meant to be! I have good credit, but life circumstances have resulted in a high debt-to-income ratio, so I mentioned that I wasn't sure I would be able to get a loan. Larry took basic information from me and called back very quickly saying we could work it out. We jumped in our car and headed to Va. From start to finish we had a good experience in regards to everything that was under the Checkered Flag's staff's control. Carl Dyson greeted us as soon as we entered the showroom. We told him we were there to see Larry and he assisted by letting Larry know we were there and telling us where we could wait. Larry was genuine and accommodating through the entire process, start to finish, as was Chad Frick who spent time with us as well. We were there on an unusually busy Sunday, and a couple of customers were ahead of us waiting to work with Financial Manager Samuel Custodio even by 6:00, when the dealership closed. Larry and Chad stayed with us and maintained the best attitudes, in spite of the circumstances. We finally met with Samuel, who also still was smiling, personable and took the time to fully explain our various options in spite of it being three hours past closing by the time he was working with us. I also felt Samuel was honest about the various service/maintenance options available to us and which ones would be most suited to us/our needs.In summary, the "Fast" part was not so applicable for us but, again, this was outside of the staff's control. The "Simple" and "Smart" definitely applied! I am a single woman who was buying this car with my teen aged daughter. I never felt like I was being misled or taken advantage of during any part of the process, start to finish. I would definitely recommend this dealership based on their better value and customer service. I would not hesitate to make another 3 hour road trip to buy another Honda from Checkered Flag!

The staff at Checkered Flag Honda is beyond great. I unexpectedly got rear-ended in my previous car one evening on my way home from work. With the repair assessment being much more than the car is worth, insurance declared it totaled. This came at a bad time- not only did my husband and I have to worry about the mere extra expense of having to get a new car, we have been working very hard to save money- especially to purchase our first home in the next few months when our apartment lease is up!The folks we worked with here understood our budget situation and our hesitancy with buying a new car (mind you- this would be my very first Brand New car) and gave us the best deal possible and dealing with them gave us much more piece of mind with our situation! Instead of taking advantage of our situation to be pushy as you usually expect sales people to be, it was the complete opposite. The experience was so easy-going and painless. They were patient, informative, and so helpful! We'd visited/test drove at 2 other dealers the night before we came here (and even planned on going back to one of those 2 the next day to finalize the purchase of a car), but it took no time at all to decide that Checkered Flag Honda would be the one we would purchase from! Right on the spot.

I still remember his great service!I loved their Simple Smart Fast program, it was exactly what they advertised. It was a painless experience, and I left knowing that I got a good deal. Brendan always replied to my e-mails very quickly, and gave me all the information I asked for. All the other dealerships I contacted would pull the usual stunt where they say we've got a great special on the car you want, just come on down to the dealership and we can talk about it". Brendan was the only person to actually answer the questions and provide the numbers I asked for.He was very friendly during the test drive, and he certainly knew his products well. I came back for my free state inspection a year later, and Brendan still recognized me and said hello and asked about how the car was treating me. I'm impressed that he remembered me after all that time, but it shows that he is great with the customer service. I'm impressed with Checkered Flag that he was still there after at least a year, and not moved on to another job somewhere else - employee retention is certainly a good sign!I'm always nervous about buying cars, and I'm usually skeptical about fake online reviews, but take it from me, these guys are the read deal! Super happy with my husband and I's first car purchase! After talking to a lot of my friends, I expected to dread the process of looking for a car. Normally, you have salesmen who are trying to just get as much as they can get out of you (ripping you off of really getting a good deal). My husband and I visited Checkered Flag Honda, just scanning around the cars, and one of their salesmen come out and greet us in a very friendly matter, and immediately offered to help us out. Larry Brown, our salesman, has been a huge reason why we settled for the car that we did. Being first time buyers, he explained everything he had to explain. He was very patient with us, for having so many questions and even allowing us to take a couple cars out for a test drive. Financially, my husband and I were looking for the best deal, and he tried making arrangements for us by helping us contact the lowest rate we could find to pay for the car, helping us contact the right insurance company to get the best deal on those rates, and also helped us out with getting a great warranty on the car for a really good price. My husband and I take customer service very seriously, and what we experienced with Larry Brown was phenomenal!! Larry Brown and Checkered Flag Honda were outstanding during every step of the buying process. Checkered Flag uses an aggressive upfront, bottom-line pricing model that matches or beats prices of buying services (I checked!) prices most of the time. And there is no games with Checkered Flag. There is no bait and switch (unlike Truecar). Their bottom-line price is right on the website (unlike Costco) and if it is not, call them and they will get you the price straight away without a bunch of questions. Because of this, I would feel comfortable sending people to buy cars there that are not good at negotiating because there is basically no negotiation until the financing stage. There is almost no chance to get ripped off. You just find a car you like and if their price works for you, just buy it! It saves you time and there is no literally no pressure concerning price, when or what to buy. Also, they encourage you to do overnight test drives (highly recommended!) and have no problem with you registering your vehicle out of state (military).I initially bought a 2016 Civic EX with Sensing from Larry and Checkered Flag in Jan 2016. The car was a lot of fun, but on the third day I finally noticed I had trouble getting comfortable while driving. After a bit of research, I realized that there is no law that allows a buyer to return a car within 3 days of purchase. I started to really stress out, but after a couple texts to Larry, he just told me to bring it back to the dealership that night (Checkered Flag policy is 3 days/~300 miles limit/does not apply for dealer exchanges). I promptly returned the vehicle. I was so embarrassed and definitely thought they would not be happy with me, but Larry and the rest of the staff were incredibly nice about it. I signed a couple documents and I was out of the office in less than 30 minutes and he even had the lot attendant, Marquis, give me a ride home! How is that for service?!After realizing I was used to driving a truck (Dodge Dakota) and an exhaustive research and test drives of most of the trucks and 3-row crossovers on the market (with a lot more attention paid to the drivers seat!), I finally decided the 2016 Honda Pilot was the vehicle for me. Larry was able to get a Silver EXL that I wanted in a dealer exchange. After only a week of owning it, I absolutely love it. It feels so luxurious and roomy, yet still fun to drive. Although in the city MPGs has not been quite up to estimates (I think that is due to limited sample size), on my first road trip, I was blown away that I got 2 mpg better than the sticker on the highway (29.0 was actual mpg calculated by dividing trip miles by gallons at the pump, computer said 30.5 mpg for the trip) with 2wd version. Larry, no worries, I will not be bringing this one back! ;)If you look up cool, low pressure salesman in Websters, you will see a picture of Larry Brown. When I first met him, he let me take cars right off the lot on test drives by myself without signing anything. I think he is so successful because he really acts as your advocate before, during and after the purchase. He is honest and will tell you the truth, which means sometimes he will tell you not to buy a car because he does not think it is a good fit. He really wants you to find the right car, not just a quick sale. He lets you go at your pace and does not rush anything. He provides follow up service even after the purchase...believe me...I know! He met me on his day off to help with a bluetooth issue with the Civic before I returned it. Another cool thing is that if you want something other than a Honda, Larry can help you out with other brands if they are within the Checkered Flag family (Toyota and Hyundai to name a few). He will meet you at the other Checkered Flag Dealer and help you pick out another vehicle so you can deal with the same rep. I was even able to do back to back test drives of different brands and side by side comparisons (Honda Pilot/Toyota Highlander)! When Larry was out of the office, Amy Smith provided excellent information and service. I would not hesitate to recommend her as well.

My wife and I recently bought a vehicle from this dealership from our salesman, Nathan. We had the best experience from this dealership than I had in the past from Hall. We looked for a vehicle and were offered to test drive it until the following day. The next day, we came back and decided on a higher Trim model. The process of finding the higher trim model in a different color using their computer system was as easy as pie!! On the financing end of things, we were offered a great APR using Honda Financial with the help of Stan. Stan did not push hard on back end items, although, we had come to great negotiations with what we wanted and decided to purchase on the back end as well. The "No Haggle"/"Up-front pricing" made everything much easier than other dealerships. Oh, and another thing, free oil changes for life and they use the synthetic oil! My daughter will be graduation in 2 years and I sure do hope Nathan and Stan will still be working at Checkered Flag Honda!! We will definitely purchase here again! Thank again, guys!!

Even though I was a walk-in customer with no prior appointment on the last day of the month, I was able to get a safety inspection for my '01 Honda Accord. By also consenting to a free 32-point inspection, the safety inspection fee was waived... and after being informed that my transmission fluid was dark and needed changing, I agreed to let your technician perform that service for me. I was on my way again after about 3 hours in the customer lounge, but considering my walk-in status... I'm satisfied.

I contacted the dealership via e-mail and asked to test drive a Honda Pilot. I was contacted by Larry (Laurence) Brown who arranged my test drive. He met me in guest parking and was very professional from the beginning. I drove the Pilot EX. He then showed me the LX which had some additional features. I ended up purchasing a LX. I worked with Larry for a two week timeframe, changing my mind several times regarding the color I wanted. He was extremely patient with me. Additionally, I met the team leader, was called by the team leader, and met with the finance POC. Each of these individuals was extremely professional and helpful. Amy answered my questions about the vehicles I was looking at. I started out looking for Accords and wanted comparisons to the Civic in terms of gas mileage, amenities/features, durability, service issues, etc. She is very knowledgeable about Honda's and answered my questions with patience, even after spending over 4 hours with me the first day as I just looked and asked questions. She was very pleasant to work with and did not place any pressure on my decision to purchase my vehicle. She was there to answer my questions and that in turn gave me ample space to think through what I really wanted and needed. I went home to do more homework before purchasing and then returned and decided, after all of that, on a CR-V. I like the upfront pricing and they gave me, what I thought, a relatively fair trade value for my car.

I put my car in to the shop at 9am because I had an appointment... How is it that I can make an appointment and it not even go into the shop until 2:30pm? I understand if they are backed-up and it takes like an hour to get in the shop but not 5 and a half hours later! What's more upsetting is that I asked for a loaner vehicle for the day and they told me I couldn't have one because I didn't need one since it wouldn't take that long for the things that needed to get done to my car. I just got my Pilot today, and I loved it! Larry was very professional, kind, and helpful. I liked that we could communicate with Amanda our sales rep. at any time via phone or email. I liked being able to see to styles of cars side by side The Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna without having to go shopping at another dealership. Kudos to the mechanic(s)!I don't remember both employees names, but David Brown and the young lady that assisted me in the office were wonderful. After searching online and visiting different dealerships for a CRV, I decided to go with Checkered Flag. I started the process with an online inquiry and received a quick response from Nathan Santiaguel. He laid everything out in the email about the FSS price, the "out the door price", how we could do business, all the ways I could contact him, trade in info and the 72 hour money back guarantee. He basically left the ball in my court. I liked that. I don't like being hassled or "vultured" while car shopping. I set up a time to meet and arrived early. The dealership was PACKED. Nathan was helping other customers but, I never felt neglected and he explained everything that was going on. He had the car I wanted parked right out front and really, it was just paperwork to go over and sign. I did have an opportunity to work with Brandon on the trade in value for my old car. He was great. Just as personable and easy going as Nathan. I feel like I got a good trade in value for my old car and that Nathan took his time answering my questions and I never once felt pressured. My experience was totally different from any car buying experience I've had. The salesman was straight forward with the vehicle prices and how the dealership operated he did his job well. The initial process was great financing the delivery of the car was really smooth. Everything was going great until realized we weren't supposed to leave the dealership with our trade in car plates on our brand new car after contacting the out of state DMV we were told that was a huge mistake and we needed to return to the dealership to request a temp tag. That didn't go over smoothly I was told by a customer service agent DJ in financing that it wasn't his job or anyone else's job to help me with my tag and registration in a mean tone of voice and that he was doing me a favor so at this point I'm in disbelief now feeling stuck with a brand new car and not enough answers so I returned to the dealership the same day looking for answers I received nothing but the same paper work I was recently given and temp tags. I called the titling department where I was introduced to the customer service agent in which was handling the out of state tags. I was informed that she would help me get the proper registration and tags. I even sign a auto power of attorney so if there were any hiccups everything could be handle swiftly. I was hopeful between May 7 and August 21 I have yet to receive the out of state tags and reg. My husband and I are at the breaking point our hands are tied the customer agent that was handling our out of state tag and reg has received a promotions so she's out of the loop some where along the line we fell in between the cracks. Progress and questions are only ask and checked on when we call and check the status of our out of state tags and reg with the titling dept. I've call Ga DMV every week to check the status and it's always something wrong with the paper work or the bill amount to register nothing was accurate the check wasn't the right amount. I called the dealership today several times I wasn't able to reach anyone I made one more attempt before writing this review I made contact with the salesman who I purchased the car he was shock that this wasn't dissolved. I was told that I would receive a call from solutions after he finished a office meeting with a customer it's now 4 hours later I'm still at a stand still I haven't spoke with anyone. This experience is draining we're trying to stay positive but it's seeming impossible. We've made 4 car payments to only have temp tags without the proper reg and tags I honestly don't think anyone cares we have already purchased the car. My advice would be if you're looking to purchase a car with out of state tags you may want to think twice about it.

Brandon and Sammy are both great. We picked the dealership because of the location, current sale, no haggle price but we were still a little skeptical about being ambushed with higher prices and hidden fees. Brandon made us feel right at home. He was very friendly and easy to connect with. He'd also pulled the car we had looked at online and a second option for us to consider. I walked into the dealership looking to test drive a Hyundai Elantra that I had seen on the Checkered Flag website. When I got there, I noticed a man at his desk looking at his phone. He never greeted me. I walked past him. I rounded the corner and was greeted by LARRY BROWN. He asked me if I had been helped. I advised him that I had not been. I told him what I was looking for. He showed me the Elantra right away told me about a few of the specs and let me take it for a drive. It wasn't what I expected so he showed me the 2015 Honda Civic. This car is so nice. My car buying experience was remarkable. Aaron listened to what was important to me, and gave excellent guidance so I could make a well informed decision. I never, ever felt pressured toward a particular vehicle. In fact, we drove to multiple Checkered Flag lots looking for the right vehicle. Even when I thought I had found the right vehicle, Aaron kept combing through the inventory until he literally found the exact car I had in mind for cheaper than I had anticipated. I didn't even have to go to the DMV. Aaron handled the tags, taxes, and registration right there! Stan in Finance was very easy to talk and provided me with great advice. I walked in with a car in mind. I drove off with that car! Just like that. It was nothing short of phenomenal!!! I never, ever felt pressured toward a particular vehicle. In fact, we drove to multiple Checkered Flag lots looking for the right vehicle. Even when I thought I had found the right vehicle, Aaron kept combing through the inventory until he literally found the exact car I had in mind for cheaper than I had anticipated. I didn't even have to go to the DMV. Aaron handled the tags, taxes, and registration right there! Stan in Finance was very easy to talk and provided me with great advice. I walked in with a car in mind. I drove off with that car! Just like that. It was nothing short of phenomenal!!! I would recommend Checkered Flag Honda to everyone, even if you are not looking for a Honda.

Dillon was very attentive and helpful. He gave me good advice and counsel on which car would best suit my needs. He didn't preasure or hassle me to buy any car in particular, which I greatly appreciated. Stan was great with the financing. He was very patient and understanding and gave me good advice.I had a wonderful experience and will definitely come back for future vehicle purchases when the time comes.

I am an out-of-towner, but work here in Norfolk. My car wouldn't start and was towed in without an appointment. Once the service department knew I was unable to go anywhere without my car (specifically Terry at the service department), he got the car in as soon as he could and they completed necessary maintenance the same day - GREATLY APPRECIATED! The service department also clued me in to upcoming necessary maintenance (brake pad wear). Overall, I am a very satisfied customer. Thank you for providing an excellent service.

I arrived at Checkered Flag about 5:00 pm after my car lost power on the interstate. Terry Ruffin was very polite and gave me a loaner car. When he called me back he said they recommend to replace the electronic ignition with no cost - because of the warranty. I have a 1997 Honda Accord. So far I have had it back on the interstate and everything appears to be working fine. My scary bad experience on the interstate turned out good.

We not looking to buy a van that day. We had only began looking. Larry Brown approached my husband found out information on what we were looking for. The next evening we were driving out to dinner in our Grand Caravan. Larry is the salesman you always wanted when looking for a vehicle. He nailed it on the head what we wanted. I didn't understand what the deal was with such low priced cars. I found out there was no haggling and that answered my questions. That made the decision easier but the friendly people completed the deal. A great experience except for the Warrenty stuff at the end but that is to be expected. A great experience.
