Robin was excellent to work with. This was probably the smoothest transaction we have ever had. Fairly Reliable Bob's is the first place we will go the next time we are car shopping.

I appreciated the experience - The car was everything they promised and the salesman was very helpful.

I had never purchased a car before so I was clueless about the process of financing and where to even begin. A friend referred Johnny as one of Boise's best (agreed). He was generous with his time explaining each step of the process and sticking with me as I wanted to explore all options. He listened to every one of my concerns and confidently, knowledgeably answered my questions. I ended up looking all over the valley and returned to Fairly Reliable Bob's falling for the car I test drove the first day and the team who invested their time making this experience fun, reassuring, well researched and friendly. I know the car I purchased is a great investment and will serve me well for years to come. Someday when it's time to shop for another car, FRB's absolutely will have my business.

After scouring the internet for the right SUV, my husband and I made the 2 hour drive to Fairly Reliable Bob's to check out a 2010 Subaru Tribeca. We loved the vehicle as soon as we saw it. ALL the staff was VERY friendly, very helpful, and did their best to make the process as quick and as smooth as possible. When it comes to purchasing a vehicle, I have to say it was a very positive experience from start to finish. If you're looking for a great "small" dealership, check out the very nice inventory Bob's has. Their customer service will definitely win you over!

Generally, I would rather have my teeth cleaned than go through the process to purchase a car. However, I can honestly say I enjoyed my time at Fairly Reliable Bob's. Our salesman, Mark Surles, listened to what we wanted and quickly helped us locate the two best matches on the lot. After test driving both, we were sold on the Honda CRV. Mark was incredibly down to earth and helped us negotiate a fair deal. At the end of the process I reminded him that I wanted heated seats. Since he had forgotten my earlier request, he said that the dealership would cover the cost of the upgrade. Both my husband and I were blown away at the concern for customer satisfaction and the great deal we received. When we need another vehicle, we will definitely call Mark and I couldn't recommend him more to anyone who wants a positive and fair used car buying experience. Thank you Mark!!!

I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find the exact vehicle I had researched. I called a few different dealerships here in the area and was met with either "We don't have it" or "I will check and get back to you." Never to receive a call back. I made a call to Fairly Reliable Bob's and spoke with Molly who was very polite and courteous as she let me know the sales team was engaged with multiple clients. She mentioned I should come by the lot and I would be well taken care of. I met Mark Surles and we began the process of a fantastic car buying experience. Mark, Johnny, and Randy made the whole process comfortable. Johnny was able to beat the approval rate provided by my credit union by 2 percentage points. Randy made the document and signing process light and very accomodating. I appreciated the experience so much that I brought my parents from Oregon to Fairly Reliable Bob's a week later and experienced the same process and level of professionalism when they purchased their vehicle from Mark that night. I understand why they have been in business since 1975 and will be recommending Mark and the team to anyone who mentions they are looking for a remarkable car buying experience. Great job Mark and team!

We recently traded for a newer vehicle at Fairly Reliable Bob's. James Woods was the salesman that handled our transaction. He was very knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy. The sale price of their vehicle and the trade-in offered on our old car were both in line with Kelley Blue Book numbers. It was refreshing to be able to complete the deal with a minimum of shuffling between several offices. James and his supervisor "Rex" handled all aspects of the deal including financing in a very professional and friendly manner. We had recently walked away from deals at two large dealerships because the above facts weren't part of those deals. We will definitely consider purchasing another vehicle from Fairly Reliable Bob's and would recommend them to anyone.

My son & I would definitely recommend this dealership to our friends & family. Mark Surles was a pleasure to work with & Randy was helpful & friendly while he efficiently processed our auto loan with a great rate of interest. We were greatly impressed with the service we got & effort put into accommodating our wishes. Prices were very fair with no haggling over our trade-in. My son lives in the Boise area and looks forward to future business transactions with "Fairly Reliable Bob's" dealership & auto service shop!

I have been a Fairly Reliable Bobs customer for over 20 years and I have never had a negative experience with them. I have never had an experience there even remotely similar to the previous rater's friend's stated visit. I am also a hardworking single Mom, however, I am an informed and capable hardworking single mom. I, like most people, do not buy cars I don't want, nor do I let someone (anyone) force me to sign contracts I don't want to sign. I don't purchase used cars without taking them to a mechanic, and I don't run to other people so they can write reputation-harming reviews based on heresay (no proof) about an honest business that is also a fabulous member of the community and has been for years. When I want to hire a lawyer or threaten to, I do it myself. I have an example of Fairly Reliable Bobs integrity and desire to do what's right, even if it costs them money. I bought a vehicle and an extended warranty from Fairly Reliable Bobs. When the vehicle needed a very expensive repair made necessary by a widespread and well known manufacturer defect in that year of vehicle, I took it to Fairly Reliable Bobs Service Department to use my extended warranty. The vehicle had just rolled over 32,000 miles (the manufacturer warranty had just expired). I was told that the Company carrying the extended warranty had gone out of business, but that they had convinced the manufacturer to cover part of the cost of the repair, and that Fairly Reliable Bobs would pay the remainder. This was not a repair that Fairly Reliable Bobs could do in-house, it had to be sent back to the dealer and was NOT cheap. I never asked them to cover the cost; they volunteered. I never even had to talk to the manufacturer. This type of service is unheard of in the business world today. This is just one example of why I only buy my vehicles from Fairly Reliable Bobs, and why I have such a hard time believing the story about them taking advantage of a hardworking single mom. The story does NOT mesh with the company I've done business with for more than 20 years and have learned to trust completely.

I have no idea what happened with the person who wrote the below review, but I am a single mom who has used Fairly Reliable Bob's for the last almost 20 years for all of my purchases. The people who work for them have been there for many years, so, apparently the owner must treat them well. They are always friendly, helpful, and point me in a direction that works for me, even if I have a specific car in mind that I think will "work" for me; they see what I need and what will work, and have NEVER steered me wrong. They have been in business for over three decades. Yeah, sounds like a shyster and shady car lot to me! Whatever venom this person is spewing toward the dealer is obviously from a past experience, and they approached the whole experience with a poor attitude, and a lot of untruths about used car dealers and what signing a legal contract means. When something is agreed to, you sign your name to a binding agreement. READ THE PAPERS YOU SIGN BEFORE YOU SIGN THEM! Ignorance of a legal contract does not excuse you from having integrity and doing what you have agreed to do. There is no "buyer's remorse" allowed by Idaho law, when you purchase a used car. Outside of Guantanamo Bay, the amount of "coercion" you're talking about is ridiculous. Unlike the offended party, these guys have integrity and would never "force" something on anyone, unless they had already signed the paperwork, and then got "cold feet". Maybe the dealership asked someone who does not keep their word and promises to actually have some integrity and follow-through with their agreements. Good luck with the lawyer. This is an A+ company, and whatever lies are being passed along on this site are not truths. If you are lucky enough to find a lawyer who hasn't any respect for a legal agreement, then you have a long an fruitless (not to mention expensive) battle ahead of you. Keep up the good work UTTERLY Reliable Bob's. You guys ROCK!!

We have excellent credit, title to our car, and wanted to deal. They gave it one shot, not a very good offer (about 3400.00 above a real deal). They must have really high overhead and can't make a deal. If you'll take what the dealer gives you try em....otherwise not.

I gave Fairly Reliable Bob's a great rating because they deserved it. From the first time I contacted them on the phone to actually meeting them in person was an enjoyable experience. Mike Johnson was my salesperson and after talking with him on the phone he had gained my trust and loyalty. I had been searching for almost a year for a car and had talked with many sales personnel, but Mike or "Big Dog" as they call him on the sales lot was genuine, caring and listened to my needs. The day I purchased a car it was almost closing time, but Mike went out of his way to pick me up at my house and take me back to the lot so I could look at cars. We selected a car I liked, took a test drive and Mike expedited the paper work for me. Within about two hours I drove off the lot with a beautiful, used car. Oh, and Bob himself came out and shook my hand, such a down to earth earnest person, and truly wants the best for his customers. I WILL definitely go back there if I need another car, or if one of my family members needs a car. And I will for sure take advantage of their service department. Thank you Fairly Reliable Bob's for selling a car to an old lady that I can depend on and a company I know will continue to help me long after the sale.

I did not visit the dealership directly. I attempted to obtain information via e-mail. I sent 2 messages to them requesting a price for a specific vehicle that they were advertising. They do not show prices for any vehicle they have offered on the net so the only option I could see was to ask them. So as I said, I sent two different messages to them and the did not respond with the information I requested. In fact that they did not answer my e-mails at all. I don't know what kind of game they are playing by not providing prices. Who is going to go all the way to the dealership without any idea at all if the vehicle is even in the ball park for what you are looking for. If they do not respond, they should not be listed by Cars.com in a search. They should just be filtered out. Who would want to buy a car from a business that acts this way???

It is truly a pleasure working with Fairly Reliable Bobs, and particularly with Johnny Russel. If you are seeking a new vehicle, you can't go wrong working with him.

I let Johnny know the type of vehicle we were looking for one morning. By later that morning, he had a vehicle for me to look at. As soon as I saw the vehicle (2005 Tahoe) I knew my wife would love it. We purchased the vehicle 2 days later. The whole buying process was fantastic. We were never pressed to try to rush the process. Since then, we have had our vehicle in for service/maintenance a few times and that is where they really shined. They gave my wife a loaner car to use when they had to keep the vehicle for about a half a day. We always received the vehicle back clean and service completed properly. I do recommend Fairly's every time any of my friends or family mention the possibility of buying a vehicle. They are simply the best at what they do. Thank you Fairly's.Troy Stone

I purchased three cars from these guys in the last couple of years. Each of the vehicles where in great shape and any issues that I found even two months after I bought the car they fixed it without any problems. Their sales staff isn't pushy and will help you find the car that you want. Their pricing is a little wierd because they don't post it. But they will work to make the cars fit your schedule. All in all these guys are great and will treat you right.

I have bought many cars from FRB and have had nothing but superb service from them. From loaner cars to sales and usage of pick ups when needed. Butch goes the extra mile to help his customers and is a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend them.

Twice now, Fairly Reliable Bob's has come to my rescue! The first time my car was "broken" and that very day they came and towed it for me at no charge, picked me up, and had me in a new vehicle that night. The second time I was hit by another driver. They not only helped me with my car purchase but took on my insurance company and obtained a better settlement offer for me. Both times the vehicles have been in excellent condition, the prices fair and comparable to others in the area. I've checked both Edmund's and Blue Book and Fairly Reliable Bob's prices fit right into both companies suggested used car values. I found ALL employees that helped me to be courteous, friendly and honest. However, Butch went over and beyond the normal limits in order to get me a beautiful car that I love and a workable price that I can afford. I will never, ever go to any other dealership. Fairly Reliable Bob's has earned my trust and my loyalty. Thank you all for looking out for me and making what could of been miserable experiences easy, rewarding, and simply wonderful!

No surprise...every review I typed up for this place mysteriously disappeared. It's one thing to be dishonest and sell a car you know is a pos to a mother who needs a reliable source of transportation for herself and her children. It's another level of sliminess to go and have every review she wrote to let others know not to make the same mistake removed. I don't know what fib they told the websites to have my reviews removed, but I will not go down quietly. These sales guys were perfectly nice until the number crunching came about. As others have stated, they overprice even over KBB by at least 20%. They will say whatever it takes to get the sale, regardless of the truthfulness. They will sell you a car they have had on the lot for over a year because it has so many electrical issues it has prevented previous sales. They will use every cover up trick in the book to make the seating material and paint job look phenomenal. Two to three months after your purchase, don't be surprised to see large areas on the car where you suddenly have no paint or damage to the seats that was not previously visible...especially if it's leather. I made it very clear to these guys that I was in need of a dependable vehicle for hauling around two young children while attending BSU full time. They sold me the biggest lemon on the lot and they knew it. At a parts only, discounted price with my mechanic, I still spent as much as the cost of the vehicle on trying to trace down the electrical issue that would cause the car to die while driving down the road or not start at all. It turned out to be a simple ground issue. They had the car for over a year and never bothered to figure this out. They would rather make a profit then be honest any day of the week. Drive or walk right on by and don't waste your time with dishonest bob's. My review was not the only negative one to disappear, so be wary of the positive ones being legit.

THE MOST DISHONEST CAR DEALERSHIP IN BOISE. Here are the facts:Red Flag #1: They do not have prices on their vehicles. They will NOT tell you the price of any vehicle until they are writing up the paperwork. Why would a dealership not list any prices?Red Flag #2: They claim the Kelly Blue Book values are meaningless. Their vehicles are priced 25% higher than the HIGH Retail Blue Book values. Really? Every honest dealership I have ever spoken with knows about the Blue Book Values.Red Flag #3: They tried to sell me a vehicle that was unsafe. The back seat of the vehicle wasn't even attached to the car!! Their response? "Mistakes happen." Mistakes happen?!? How about, "We are very sorry, let us resolve this right away."If you don't care about wasting money, if you don't care about your family's safety, and if you don't mind working with dishonest people, Fairly Reliable Bob's is the perefect place for you.

Initially, the sales staff was pleasant and helpful. As I asked more questions, however, they became increasingly short and unfriendly. The Subaru Outback I drove had an obvious problem (the defroster blew a film of crud on the windshield), when I pointed it out they were incredulous and blew me off. After driving another vehicle I told them I would come back the next day with my wife. I wanted to buy from these guys! Dont ask me why. The next day we drove one car and came back smiling, asking to drive another. The salesman was unfriendly, in fact, hostile telling us to go somewhere else and come back when we found something so he could match the offer. I was baffled, my wife was furious. We went to Petersons auto and bought a beautiful BMW 330i with a factory warranty. That salesman was friendly, patient and cool. Avoid Fairly Reliable Bobs classic crooked used car salespeople. If the positive review wasnt posted by them, well, come on folks. Since our encounter Ive found that the experience was not unique. I dont know how they make money.

Corvettes from.....Fairly Reliable Who????????Several months ago, I spent $46,000 on a 05 convertible Vette from the dealer known as "Fairly Reliable Bob" here in downtown Boise. After several months of owning this car I've had numerous problems with it that should have been taken of before the vehicle was sold, I find the dealership disgraceful in their practices of conducting business. The major issue that concerned me is that the vehicle I purchased was so badly out of alignment (although it drove ok)it scrubbed the front tires down to the steel belt on the front two and wore the rear ones bald, I brought this to their attention and found out how "Reliable" they really are..NOT! ..This was a life threatening issue.. like they cared. Bottom line is, if you are in the market for buying a used vehicle, I would avoid this place like the plague. there's too many good used car dealers out there that will stand behind what they sell, this place isn't one of them. Among other issues, I needed to have major transmission work done on this Vette by a reputable dealer after only 3,000 miles, it just get's worse from there.. don't buy from these grease monkeys! they are the brunt of "used car salesman jokes" Graham

I went here expressly looking for a sports car, good place to start since they sell the most Corvettes in Idaho. I told them I wanted something light, fun, and rwd. Mike tried to sell me a Prelude which might be one of the above if you know nothing about driving. Denied their first offer and had to come back a second day. Butch helped me through things and we came to an agreement. Nobody was unfriendly but the service was that awkward-dealership-smiley-I-want-your-commission type of service. In reality, I had to find and sell the car to myself. They just happened to have it on their lot. Wasn't a Corvette (I respect myself) but go their if that's what you're looking for. Likely less pressure than most dealerships and they do a lot for the community. Atleast that's what the plaques said. I would recommend a private party everytime. And do your research everytime you're buying a car. Oh, and if you buy you are a permanent member of their mailing list, you'll need to buy another trash can.
