First-time Gates shopper ... great experience buying a used car for my teenage son. I had been dreading this chore, but I have nothing negative to say about the whole experience at Gates. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to see what they had, and they had several cars on their used lot that fit what we were looking for. **GOOD INVENTORY** Salesperson Trent Jackson listened to what we were looking for (and I was fairly reticent--HATE dealing with salespeople & dealerships!) and he pointed us in the right direction right off the bat. He did a great job balancing my needs with my son's wants :) **COMPETENT & PLEASANT SALESPERSON** After we test drove 2 cars, he offered us the opportunity to take one car home from Saturday to Monday (with no strings attached) so I could have my mechanic/brother look it over. **GOOD CUSTOMER RELATIONS** We test drove a third car at Gates on Monday, and we ended up buying the one we had taken home. We bought more car than my son needs, but that was our choice and we did not feel pressured by Trent to choose one car over another. (I was probably an easy sell because I'm such a fan of Hondas.) We do feel that we paid a reasonable price for what we bought. ** REASONABLE PRICES** Other than doing the requisite online research for other places' inventory & prices, car reviews, and car values, we didn't feel like we needed to continue our search past Gates, even though Im big on comparison shopping. We are VERY surprised at how quickly we found what we liked/wanted and are very satisfied with both the experience and the price. We would recommend Gates and Trent Jackson with no reservations, & I will most likely start the search for my own next car at Gates.

What a waste of time. Very frustrating. Wasted 7 hours of time trying to get a deal done. What a waste of time waiting for a deal that was already agreed to over the phone!

My salesman was proffesional, courteous, and efficient. The only thing I can say bad about any of the experience was the time it took to get the loan approval process. I have excellent credit and I didn't see why it took so long to get everything done. So the one and a half hour was little long, but everything else was great.

i went to gates after visiting another dealer about a new prius who just wasn't there on price. i got gates on internet and was given chris emberton's phone number to follow up on what i wanted. if you want to talk to someone who is very helpful with no pressure talk to chris. i had a car to trade and chris gave me a good quote and i told him i would need to think about the deal.he never called me. i called and he stayed with his deal. finance officer offered me extended warranty and their banks financing but didn't push it when i said "no". the prius has been an excellent choice and so has gates toyota.

I had done all of my research on line, taken some test drives of various makes and models and knew what kind of car I wanted and what the MSRP, holdback, and invoices prices were. The only thing I did not know was the extended warranty price. Gates treated me very fairly and I was able to negotiate the extended warranty price down. They have been good on everything promised. They forgot to give me a full tank of gas but I brought the car back and they took care of that.

IT WAS A BAD CHOICE WHEN I WENT TO GATES HIGH PRESSURE FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY.FELT I WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BEING A WOMAN . NOT GOOD TO WORK WITH . DO NOT TELL YOU ALL THE DEALS THEY HAVE . I WOULD TELL PEOPLE DONT GO THERE. HAPPY WITH ANOTHER DEALER IN ELKHART ,HEART CITY.
