EVERY CAR BUYER'S WORST NIGHTMARE! This is the most painful review I hope I ever leave. My fiance and I bought a used vehicle from Harr on Monday, BY FRIDAY IT BLEW UP! I spent my entire savings on this vehicle. It's used and I understood the as-is warranty and I expected it to need some repairs. It did need several actually. OK, made a mechanic appointment. It sat in our driveway Tues - Thurs and my fiance was driving it TO our repair shop appointment when the engine blew on Friday. Something shot right threw it and burning oil and massive amounts of smoke went everywhere, blocking other driver's view and making it hard to get pulled over and was very dangerous. Then he had to sit in the cold for an hour to wait for a tow truck. I now have no transportation and no more money. I thought I'd reach out to Harr to see if they would offer to help in any way seeing as the vehicle lasted FOUR DAYS. They said I could trade it in for about $500 🤣 and then basically told me to kick rocks. I understand the contract and I never asked for a refund or return. (Actually, big thanks goes to Stoudt dealership in Jamestown for giving us a loaner vehicle for over the weekend! That's far more than Harr ever offered.) I just thought it would be worth reaching out to them considering the extreme circumstances. But no, it was not worth reaching out to them. This is literally every car buyer's worst nightmare and my biggest regret of my life. We won't even be able to go to or have Thanksgiving and we are stranded now. They do not care about anything but getting the vehicle off the lot and cashing your check. After that they couldn't care less. Honestly being out thousands of dollars and vehicle-less is nothing short of traumatic.

BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT ANY USED VEHICLE PURCHASE Had a very negative experience with them. I recently purchased a Honda Odyssey from them, and during my talks with the salesman, I let him know that I generally like to have a mechanic look at cars before I buy them. He told me that he didn't think there was a need for that, since they have their guys look at it, and they had already done some repairs for the check engine light. Seeing as they had generally positive reviews, I took his word for it. Upon receiving the car, it had to be jump started the next day. Within probably 10-20 miles of driving the car, the check engine light comes on. So I took it to a mechanic and there were about $4000 worth of repairs to be done on it (The car only cost $6000). So of course I called them and explained the situation to them, and after all I was told, the sales manager explained that used cars are NOT actually mechanically inspected prior to selling them. Convenient that they waited till after I bought it to make that clear by word of mouth. If you're looking for used cars in SD, I would avoid them, but at the very least get the car looked at before buying it since they will not fix anything after it is sold.

Reference to Harr motors in Redfield: Service is an absolute joke. Left our vehicle to be repaired 1 and a half years ago. Was told after a couple of days of calling that the vehicle was finished. Told them we were on our way to get it and when we arrived they were closed. Walked around and found someone who hadn't left yet and got the keys. Driving up the road and realized that the truck hadn't been fixed. We took it back and parked it. Called repeatedly over the next week and finally went back to take it somewhere to be fixed and the truck hadn't moved from where I had parked it a week earlier. They did replace the fuel filter cap and I paid for that before I left. They assured me that there were no other charges. Two months later they sent a bill and we contacted them. They said that everything was fine. 2 more months and we got a bill again. Same scenario. This happened at least 3 other occasions. A year and a half later, they have sent the bill to collections and unless I want a black mark on my credit, I have no choice but to pay. We have purchased from these people and had general oil changes done and now we are finished. Save yourself the misery. There was a very nice reply to my review. The suggestion was that I call and try to work out the problem. The problem is that we have tried to work this out and were told that they would look into it and call us back. Never did they call back. And, to be assured that the matter has been handled, was anything but truthful. As a matter of fact, after sending the bill to collections, I called once more and they couldn't find any record of the exact date of service or any notes that we had ever contacted them, or the amount of the actual bill. I would say that calling to work it out is no longer an option. No, that is enough. Follow-up Thank you to Ken White at the Aberdeen Harr's Motors, for finally resolving this issue. This is the way that this mess should have been handled in the beginning. Ken was not involved in the original transaction but he stepped up and did a great job resolving this problem. Thank you Ken.

Shopped around for awhile for crossover SUV and tried out most of them,,, Chevy, Honda, Toyota & Nissan. Found the Nissan Murano the best overall (As did JD Powers and Asso.) (look it up) AND Denise was great to work with as she explained the features on each vehicle that Harr's had when she road with us, unlike other dealer (Here is the keys, drive). The pricing they had were on the money and the trade was very fair. Pleasant buying experience.

Alex Mitchell and his team went above and beyond to be sure I had a very positive experience. I had several questions for Alex in regard to my oil change and having my tires rotated and a few other things and he took the time to answer my questions. I forgot to show my coupon for a discount and brought it back a few hours later. The employees were very courteous in helping get my bill redone with the discount. Also when I arrived for my oil change, I was told right up front that they were behind and it would be about an hour. I was offered a ride somewhere if I wanted. It was, by the way, exactly an hour.

We rented a car from Harr's to make a quick trip. Halfway into our journey the car developed problems.. It was Saturday evening and so no one was at the shop. I called a friend who works at Harr's and he made some calls for me. Making a long story short, Harr's loaded up another vehicle and met me early Sunday and got us back on the road. The rental department was friendly and very apologetic for any inconvenience we may have experienced. Great people, great service.

I was impressed with the efficiency with which my request for service was handled, as well as how the service was completed. The only glitch was from upline because the shipper did not send the correct wiring harness with the trailer hitch to be installed. Even so, the Nissan service manager located the item needed and personnel were able to do the job. The service manager (and all personnel for that matter) were courteous and helpful, and accommodating to our comfort while my wife and I were in the waiting room. The entire experience was a demonstration of the professionalism that is rare these days. We are very thankful that we came to Harr Motors for this service, and will plan to do so in the future. It is quite an unusual experience to be informed of the progress of the service while waiting. Thanks!

I was looking for a Sequoia. Happened to have a service appt on my highlander and had a Sequoia for a rental. Asked if I could buy it. Darin checked and yes it would be available to purchase. He set it all up, added the accessories I wanted, Chris did the paperwork, and the vehicle was delivered. How much easier can it get! Great service. I highly recommend this dealership. Good service. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by Brandon and he immediately helped me with a seat belt issue. After my oil change I had a question about a recommendation for struts (from Jim a tech) that I received before. last time I was in for brake work Toby had Cordell look at the struts and said the struts were not leaking but had some old residue so yesterday Toby got Cordell to come check out the issue and said they weren't leaking. I was glad Toby remembered the prior recommendation. I always try to deal with Toby. He is always so kind and helpful.

I brought my Pilot in for service expecting a large bill. While waiting for the inevitable I had to take the time to go over my finances and asked to use a pen from Joel. I was given information on leasing a new Nissan Pathfinder. Needless to say I was given attention and great customer service from Joel. He helped me find what I needed for my family of 5. I know can have a peace of mind knowing my wife and I have another reliable vehicle for our travels to and from work as well as bringing our little ones home safely especially in the winter months. My husbund and I went to Harr Motors with the intentions of buying a used vechile. The sales consultant asked us what were some of the features we were looking for. We wanted all wheel drive and we wanted it white. He pulled up a picture of a 2016 Honda HRV which had just come out and we were quite surprised by the price. He took us out for a test drive and we were sold. We paid the same for a new car (with our trade in) as we had planned on paying for a used one. I was looking for a vehicle, easier to get into with my medical needs. The radio didn't work asked them about it and said fuse was out, drove to the other garage to get a fuse in it and it didn't work. Oh we will get you fixed up, I also was dumb and got the extended warranty. My family looked up book price and said it was worth 6k. Well I looked it up and found it was only worth3k, they also couldn't fix radio, or door lock. I don't think I will ever trust their word again. I am on disability and it took the last bit of money I had to pay for it. They wouldn't take it back or nothing!!! Very upset and disappointed in Harr's Motors!!, Wish I would never have listened to everyone about them. EvonM

I started out just thinking of a new vehicle for my wife, then as we proceeded I started thinking about one for me. We eventually bought a 2015 Highlander XLE and a 2015 Tundra Limited. I look back on this time and I feel that we made a wise choice, we are enjoying both of the new vehicle. They are both so comfortable. We were totally happy and we have been with them ever since. Now we purchased a 2015 Highlander and a 2015 Tundra Limited. Rhonda Masters has been our salesperson for several years now. I can't believe I have a 2015 Highlander! I went to Harr Motors to purchase an Acadia. I had heard what great service they had. I was looking for a vehicle that seated 7 and had bucket seats for the middle row. I told my sales rep that I had 3 kids under 5 and hoping to have at least 2 more in the future. I explained how difficult it was to get them all buckled in their car seats in the bench seat of our Explorer. We even took out one seat in our Explorer so the 2 oldest could get to the 3rd row easily. I told our rep I needed more room and functionality and what my price range was. I came to the lot thinking the Acadia was what I wanted. But, after looking at the Highlander, I was in love. This little gem not only seats my children with ease, it also has lots of storage. I can tuck things away so my vehicle doesn't look junky but, its all easily reachable. I love this vehicle. And, the 3rd row seat has the ability to recline. My kids can take a nap and not be slouching forward. Awesome. And, it has a built in mirror so that I can easily see all my children. In the Explorer I would have the rear view mirror at a 450 angle. With my Highlander, I use my rear view mirror for what it's intended plus get to see and interact with my kids. This Mom is very happy. While we were waiting to get all the financial stuff out of the way, they made sure my kiddos had snacks and also toys to keep them occupied. I didn't feel like my kids were an inconvenience to Harr Motors. It is a family friendly dealership. We came at 530p. The staff stayed late until they ran the numbers and made me comfortable with the financing. They made us feel welcomed and completely at ease. They even delivered the vehicle to me the next day. No buyers remorse this time around- I know I got exactly what I wanted and at a price I know I can afford! So very Happy!

I bought what looked to be a good used vehicle from this dealership. Be aware that when you get there the salesman may tell you the price is a "No Haggle" price even though it was not advertised this way. It was a 5 hour trip to Aberdeen and halfway home at 10:45 at night the check engine light came on. Had to turn around and go back to Aberdeen, getting there at 1:30 AM. Got to the dealership at 8:00 AM and waited until 11:00 AM only to find out there was no AF sensor in town. They were nice enough to give me $250 to get it fixed when I returned home, which ended up costing me $400 to find out that the real problem was it was actually a ECM issue that runs about $1500. The service manager at Harr Toyota said they had already spent enough on this issue even though there was obviously a problem with this vehicle before I bought it. It cost me $1700 plus all the extra gas and driving time because Harr's will not stand behind their product. The salesman, Harry, did the best he could, but I was very disappointed in his manager and the way it turned out.

I received a call early the next morning from the salesman on a Toyota Corolla I had seen online the previous night. He walked outside (it was like 40 below) and sent me more pictures on his phone and gave me a run down of the car condition, flaws, etc. He was very honest and up front about all the small issues (the car was a 2001). By early that evening, the car was purchased and even driven up to me by the salesman himself that same day. All this was done by phone and texting in one day! All I can say is WOW!!! I will be back when I am ready to purchase another vehicle.

I called Harr Motors because of a car problem I was having and to book an appointment. The mechanic I spoke to was extremely rude, disrespectful, and demeaning to the point where it was hurtful. I explained exactly what was wrong and he refused to believe me. (I went to another place and got it fixed.. I was correct on what the problem was.) He went on to ask questions like "did you have the key with you when you tried to start it?" "Did you park it the right way?" him: "is the battery dead?"me: "no"him: "are their blinky lights?" (referring to a dead battery)The tone of voice mixed with the questions were enough for me to say I will never go to Harr motors in Aberdeen. for any type of auto services. (I have nothing against the dealership itself, I'm sure its a wonderful place) but that kind of treatment is not acceptable.

We looked for the best deal that we could make on an Avalon hybrid. Our search included dealers throughout our region of the country. We finally made our deal with Joel Dockter at Harr Motors. He was straight forward with us and a pleasure to work with. We let him know what we would require to be able to make a deal, and he found a way to do it without haggling and such. We were very pleased with the experience and will definitely check with Harr Motors the next time we are looking to purchase a vehicle.

Went to Harrs for an oil change and ended up purchasing a new Honda Pilot. My wife and I are very happy. We had our old car for ten years and 90,000 miles. It had served us well, but it was time to move up. Working with Ngoc Thach, the Harrs Vehicle Exchange/Sales Rep, made the new purchase easy and inevitable. She was always available by phone or e-mail . . . and was tireless in making the experience as smooth and uncomplicated as possible . . . whether in explaining the purchase details, the test drive, coordinating with other Harr people in Service and Finance . . . and in taking extra time after the purchase . . . to go through the new vehicles Dashboard set up, the cell phone sync feature and its hands free features. New cars tend to be mysterious electronic marvels. If you find yourself in the Service Waiting Area at Harrs, I highly recommend that you take the time to chat-up Ngoc. Her desk is across from the coffee and cookies. Even if you dont talk about cars, Im sure you will find her to be candid, honest and helpful.

Both my wife and I enjoyed working with Denise on our purchase of a 2014 Nissan Frontier. We received a good trade-in value on our 2013 Kia Sorento which was also a plus in our purchase. After moving to Aberdeen I felt the need to purchase a pickup and having a 1998 Nissan Frontier for 12 years before selling it to my brother-in-law I knew that the Frontiers were a very good pickup. I feel that I will enjoy my new Frontier for many years to come. Good dealership and very friendly and easy to work with staff.

We visited several dealers, and Harr Motors is top notch. Other dealers were shady, inexperienced, played on their phone the whole time, or made us feel uncomfortable. The people at Harr were great. I never saw the salesman take out his phone to take a call or play a game; we had his attention the entire time. He was knowledgeable about the cars on his lot, and when he didn't know an answer to our many questions, he found out quickly by asking another knowledgeable salesman. Other great features: organized; clean vehicles; clean facility; nice bathrooms; snacks in the waiting room (cappuccino!); friendly people. Well done, Harr Motors, well done!

I decided to check this dealership out to get information on a new truck. I was looking at one on the lot and the sales woman, Holly, came up to me and I could immediately tell she was a great person. She was funny, kind, and very friendly! After talking for a bit I felt comfortable enough to take a test drive. This was yet another fun experience. She was super laid back when it came to the drive. She knew a lot about the truck and made my decision to buy certain. I'll tell everyone that wants to buy a new car to shop here and ask for Holly. Guys, this is the place to go when looking for a new or used car. The showroom was spacious and clean and the layout was uncluttered. Excellent place and experience.

I was looking for a Suburban and they went out of there way to find one for me and I got it $3,000 cheaper than if I would have went and bought it from the other Dealer myself, and they gave me more for my trade, than another Dealer in town was gonna give me. Just an update to this review: They said they had email problems and the manager never heard of the problem. Once he heard he asked us to bring the Yukon in and have them take a look. They found out that everything was as I said, they replaced everything and also new rims and tires at no cost to me. So at the end they came through, and I appreciate the work done. I wish the manager was notified sooner, so I didn't have to go through all this. Old PostBought a 2007 Yukon from them. 1.5 months later had to replace a filter canaster. 5 mos later found out that because the rims were replaced with the wrong size all the ball joints have to be replaced and front drivers side strut needs to be replaced. Now I have to pay an extra $2000 to fix, and probably have to pay for new rims to fix the problem. I called, emailed and stopped in for assistance, and no response. They think if they don't reply that I'll go away.
