Well disguised junk sold by phony sales people. Think twice before you purchase from Home Street. Then think again. And walk away as quickly as you can.

Didn’t feel like mentioning that the car I drove several hours to look at was covered in mold, has rockers made of expanding foam, had a trunk that didn’t close (he “doesn’t open the trunks” ok buddy) and was completely rotted out. Other reviews seem to show more of the same. If you want rusty, overpriced beaters... this is a great place! Edit: in response to the owner, I wish I took photos. The rear of the passenger rocker was expanding foam, the entire length from drivers door back on left side was expanding foam. I’m sure he said that looking at the rest of the cars in the area, yeah whoever painted it made it look ok. I’m sure you ran to the bank laughing. Other reviews back up my claims. The mold on the driver floor was rock hard, and has been an issue for some time. Trunk was missing all interior and had a drain plug removed, that car has water issues. Anyway, I’m not here to argue, just to tell people to AVOID THIS DEALER.

Bought a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Mike and can not be happier. I was in the process of finding a used car for my daughters to use while away at college. We live in Texas so I did a lot of online shopping and research before we settled on the Jeep. I spoke to Mike over the phone and he arranged to meet us after hours once we landed in South Bend. He held the car for us in the mean time so it wouldn't be sold. Once we were able to meet in person, Mike was welcoming and made the buying experience smooth and easy. He was not pushy or overbearing as one might expect of a "used car salesman". He was a genuine gentleman. He pointed out the "flaws" of the car and was straightforward, not trying to push a sale. Given the cars age, we were pleasantly surprised at how good of shape it was in. Included in the price was a 30 day extended warranty. We wanted to purchase a longer term warranty which would have cost us about $1000 upfront, however, Mike informed us that if we wanted we could extended the 30 warranty on a month to month basis for $50 a month thereafter and it would cover more than the $1000 extended warranty we were expecting to buy anyway. Doing so, I believe, took money out of his pocket on the commission of the $1000 warranty but actually protected us more in the long run. The used car salesmen I've dealt with in the past would not have had our best interest at heart, but Mike did. On top of this, I wanted to buy some new tires for the Jeep. The ones that came with the Jeep had some life still left on them, but would more than likely need replacing soon and since my daughters do not have experience driving in the snow/ice because Texas winters are so mild, I wanted replacements more for peace of mind. Mike offered to purchase the tires I wanted from his local source and passed on the wholesale price to me, saving me about $200 had I gone to purchase them at the local Discount Tire store. Furthermore, the price listed on the Jeep was on the lower end of the Kelley Blue Book value and suggests to me that Home Street Auto prices their vehicles competitively and fairly. In all, I am very satisfied with our purchase experience and highly recommend Mike at Home Street Auto if you are in the market for a used car.
