TrueCar was helpful in finding my exact vehicle. The dealership experience was terrible. These guys know very little about the cars they are selling. Thank goodness I was informed before my purchase. The sales lady Jackey actually suggested my Ridgeline gets such great gas mileage because of the 4 cylinder engine and CVT transmission, which my truck had neither it's a 6 cylinder with a 6 speed transmission smh. They are money hungry and lived up to the typical stereotypes of car salesman. During the trade in process the salesman pulls up suggested trade in values of my car ranging from $17800-19800 in good condition (my car is in Excellent Condition). He then returns to me with an offer of $14500, which is completely absurd for a 4 year old Acura!!! He says "this is all we can pay for this type of car!" So it took 30 mins of back and forth debating and him lying about why they can't pay my cars actual trading value for me to agree to $17000, which is well below Blue book. I own my decision I'm an adult, but these are terrible tactics by this dealer to swindle customers. So in the finance office the lady Heather is doing her job trying to get me to purchase more items that I'm not interested in. She gets to the part about this "additional car alarm" and I tell her I'm sure the factory alarm will suffice. Well I'm guessing that didn't sit well with her because she calls the salesman over and literally says in an annoyed voice "rip the car alarm out, he doesn't want it!" I was thinking to myself unbelievable, I guess it wasn't enough I just bought a $45,000 truck from you! So I ordered a few accessories which I gave very specific details about what I wanted, like I said prior I was informed about the vehicle before showing up. The salesman told me no problem your accessories are in LA we can have them here in ONE day. So I was like great. Four days later I receive a voicemail from the parts department asking "what color roof rack would you like." I know I told the salesman specifically Silver! So I call and get the run around, I'm not kidding it took me calling back several times for two days before getting someone who could help. Apparently if you don't talk to the exact person who left the voicemail no one in the parts department has a clue of what's going on. For the four days I couldn't get ahold of the gentleman who left the voicemail I kept getting transferred to a lady in the parts department who was seemingly oblivious to what was going on. I would tell her "I'm calling because I received a call asking what color roof rack I wanted and I can tell you," and she would reply "let me check in the back for your parts." What is she checking the back for, there's no parts because they haven't been ordered yet! So when she returned from checking the back she says "your parts aren't in yet." I'm thinking ya you don't say smh. So I again explain to her that I need to update my order to reflect the color I wanted, and she suggested I speak with the operator! To say the least we got no where. SO I have to drive to the dealership to physically find the gentleman who left me the message and turns out to be the one bright spot in my entire experience with this dealership, I think his name is Keenen. Nicest guy ever. Had my experience here ended with Keenen I probably wouldn't be leaving this review, BUT the saga continues. About a week after my purchase I receive a call from Heather in finance suggesting there's a "high payoff" on my trade of $150ish or so. She tells me that she needs me to come in and pay this immediately. I told her to contact my bank that financed the truck and get it straightened out, and ask why she would be bothering the customer with such matters! I said "you guys put the pay off amount on the finance documents, I didn't!" She replies "yes that's true, I copied what was on your credit report." Well why is this my problem if you documented the wrong information!? She says she would talk to her manager and try and get the fee waived. Two days later I receive a letter in the mail THREATENING legal action against me if I didn't pay the $150 in 7 days. I can't tell you how upset all of this made me and has completely ruined what should be an exciting new car purchase. I WILL NEVER EVER return to Honda of El Cajon or recommend them to a single soul.

Today I had to take my car in for the 3rd time for an airbag recall. I had to go in the third time because one of the warranty technicians scanned the code wrong after installing the passenger side airbag. My Nguyen had the misfortune of having to notify me that I had to come in again. Needless to say she got the brunt of my anger and frustration! I can't say enough about how well My dealt with the situation and diffusing my temper! She was very professional and bent over backwards to make sure I was in and out of there quickly when I had to come in again. My was a pleasure to work with and is an outstanding employee. You really should make the technicians have to call the customer so they can get a sense of how much unnecessary frustration and inconvenience they cause the customer! My even personally washed my car and presented me with a goodie bag upon leaving the dealership!

I just drove home in my new 2016 Honda Accord from Honda of El Cajon and the first thing I was compelled to do was write this review. This was by far the most pleasant, hassle-free, and easy car buying experience I have ever had. From the time I made my initial phone inquiry I felt I was being treated with respect and was dealing with people of integrity. Miguel and Jackie in the internet sales department were clearly not subscribing to any of the games that give some car sales people a bad reputation. Daniel, the finance manager, was also extremely pleasant and efficient. They were all completely fair, honest, and straightforward with me. They offered me the best price compared with dealers all over San Diego county as well as Orange and Riverside counties. When I came to the dealership to purchase I was expecting some surprises and thought I would have to keep my "A game" on to handle any unexpected hard pressure sales tactics. I was relieved that there was only one surprise... they offered me a free Bible. We are a Christian family and completely admire and appreciate this business and its employees for spreading the Good News; however, even if someone isn't a Christian or isn't interested this, you've got to at least understand and appreciate that this is an organization that has a business model built on honesty and integrity as part of their faith and core beliefs. That's a business that anyone should feel proud and completely confident working with when making such an important purchase. We have been loyal customers at another local Honda dealership for over 15 years not only with car purchases but also having every oil change and service performed there. Today, the other dealership lost our business to Honda of El Cajon. We are grateful to have been led to this dealership and its wonderful people and highly encourage anyone in the market for a car to check them out.

My daughter took me to Honda of El Cajon yesterday to find a car for me,we were greeted by a salesperson by the name of Steven Curry, very nice, friendly and courteous. He walked us around the lot and showed us both new and used vehicles and had me test drive a used 2014 Honda Accord. Well,to make a long story short,I drove home a 2014 Honda Accord thanks to sales manager Daniel Cole for getting me a great deal in such a short time and thank you Steven Curry for your excellent customer service, you deserve 5 stars plus more!! Keep up the good work!

A few months ago I purchased a 2015 CRV from Tipton Honda. Steve Smith was the sales person and was extremely courteous and patient. I couldn't have asked for a better buying experience.Unfortunately, about a month ago I ran over a concrete planter in a parking lot and did substantial damage to the underside of the CRV. I called Steve and he had the parts ordered and scheduled the repair work through service writers James and Gerald. Ray did the repair work.Ray kept Steve, James and Gerald updated and I was called daily on the progress of the repair. ( which was done in a timely manner by Ray.) All 4 made an unpleasant event as good as possible. Tipton Honda is fortunate to have these 4 outstanding employees.

Our salesperson, Franky, was great! We went in to shop and look at inventory that the dealership had and Franky was great throughout the whole process. Being in the retail sales industry ourselves, we went into car-shopping ready for a lengthy and exhausting journey, but, luckily, we found the car we wanted and the salesperson we wanted to buy it from at the first Honda dealership we visited. Thank you Franky! We will most definitely recommend our friends and family to you!

After replacing my power steering pump while under warranty, my rack and pinion went out (after warranty expired), they said the two weren't related and said it would cost me $1600! All other mechanics (3), said the contaminated fluid caused the rack and pinion failure, but Tipton said they didn't agree! Service manager isn't a nice person!

Johnny Hicks made this process extremely easy for me. He worked extremely hard, I am sure, and his dedication to customer service cannot be praised enough. This was the fastest, friendliest, and easiest car buying experience I have ever experienced and it would not have been possible without the efforts of Johnny Hicks. He went above and beyond to make this happen for me and I truly appreciate it.

Bought 2 cars. Second civic offered free service for two years, what a joke, only dealership in San Diego that doesn't change oil filter when changing oil. Their price is higher than every other dealer I called. On my first car I had 50% off coupon and when I went to use it service advisor changed price from 69 to 80 for an oil change. When I called service manager to question prices I never heard back. I have friends in auto business that have told me they have the worst reputation, now I have witnessed first hand. If you go there do your self a favor and check other dealers first. It's not even the price it's the horrible service. I have two years free service and still won't let them touch my car.

Was the most pleasant and easiest car buying experience I have ever had by far (I have bought new cars from Dodge, Chevy, Nissan, and Toyota). Searched within a 300 mile radius from the Imperial Valley and no body came even close to their prices. Already one of my co-workers purchased her new Honda from them and was extremely happy as well. If you want a no hassle free purchase and the lost possible price Johnny Hicks is your man!!! Will recommend to anyone looking for a new Honda. Will be my first stop when looking for my next new car.......

We just bought our first Honda from this dealership and these guys know how to do business. We were looking for a top of the line minivan with a good reliability track record and settled on the Odyssey. The issue was that we had negative equity in the car we were trading in and we needed to find an equitable deal (where the time left on the loan and payments was the same or better). After negotiating the price of the Odyssey with our local dealership, we contacted Tipton to see what they would offer and their internet sales guy Miguel Torres confirmed they would be able to not just meet, but beat the other dealers offer. When we went to visit this dealer, they stood by their word and offered the same deal but with the 24 months maintenance. We still weren't convinced, but after they gave us more on our trade in (this dealer offered the best trade in amount I've seen from any dealer) we felt better about the deal and moved forward. This dealer may not be the fanciest or nicest around but the sales/finance folks don't play games and they will work with you to structure an excellent deal.

We went through the internet buying service. The prices quoted were competitive and when we let them know we had a better offer they matched the offer. We also got 2 years of free maintenance. We contacted several dealerships and Tipton was the nicest and easiest to work with. We don't have any complaints. We wish they were a little closer to where we live for ease of getting maintenance done.

I just purchased a new Honda Pilot from this dealership and I had the best buying experience and the best deal I could afford! A big thanks to Mr. Miguel Torres! He was very helpful and knowledgeable of his work. He was also friendly, polite and professional. Best of all, He did not pressure me in making the purchase the first day I went to checked out the cars. That was a big PLUS for me!I would like to thank also Mr. Gregg King who appointed Miguel to help me in my car buying and also Mr. Truman Berg of Finance Dept. who was very helpful, courteous and professional in preparing all the necessary paperworks.I highly recommend Tipton Honda to anyone in the market for a new car! Thanks again Tipton Honda!

I arrived at 11:30 AM to have the air system checked and regular maintenance performed on my Accord. At 1:30PM my car was still in the same position in the parking lot when I arrived. The checks had not been done and a simple oil change which takes 30 minutes at the most was also not done. I facility was not overcrowed so the reason for this impossible delay is a loss to me. This economy is bad and you want to hold on to your customers. This is one person who will certainly not return.

Do not ever buy a vehicle from this dealership!!!!I bought a new 2012 vehicle from them and it has a defective paint job.I paid $30,000 for this vehicle and it is a piece of junk. The people who work at this dealership are your best friends until they get your money and then it's one problem after another. Don't walk but run away from this dealership.

My wife's sun visor cracked after normal use (2009 Honda Civic). I believe that it was a Honda design flaw. I took it to Tipton Honda, expecting the Honda Company to reimburse Tipton and replace it. Adam Smidt (Asst. Service Mgr.) informed me that although many Honda automobiles made between 2007 & 2009 were covered, mine was not. I was dismayed with this revelation. Nevertheless, Adam advocated my case with management, and Tipton provided the needed part without charge. It was gratifying to see that there are still companies, such as Tipton, concerned with providing fine products and service to customers.

It appear that the "appraisal review" was very poor, there was no negotiation on a offer to trade my 2007 Ridgeline to a 2010 Pilot. There was a 2007 used Ridgeline on the lot with an asking price of $27,000 and they offered my 15,000 on trade. It had about 10K less miles than mine (39k) and it was the top of the line model, but the 12 difference was absurd. They also sent out a false promotion ad which had enticed me to check out the offer. I don't like playing games with salepersons.

I and my husband stop by about three weeks ago to see about some cars we had in mind. I met up with a sales person named Jajo he kindly walk me though a few cars that i had pick out.I did advise that I am not ready at this moment to buy, just looking. I ask for his card so when I do come back I could ask for himv again. Well went back three weeks later and he was there and he remember us. We pick out our Honda and Jajo went to bat for us for the price I wanted and the payment. I must say I was really happy to work with him. The did not try to pressure us into things we did not want. I was in and out in no time. I enjoyed working with Jajo I will say this I kept him on edge with laughter.

We had a great experience with Tipton. We bought two new cars on the same night, a Civic and an Accord. Dale and Victor were our salesmen and Joe Deluca was the sales manager. The whole process was seamless. The price for both cars was fair and easy to negotiate. The process was efficient and professional. The people we dealt with were knowledgeable, friendly without pressuring us and delightful to deal with. I don't know how the experience could have been any better.

Everyone at this dealership, and especially Gregg King were friendly, courteous, professional. Gregg King kept trying to find my perfect car and did, at the perfect price (that no other dealer of the ten I contacted all over Southern California could even come close to). I got the best financing possible and because of the warm and welcoming way that I was treated when I got there, they made this entire experience one that I will never forget. If you want to buy a Honda, go to Tipton and ask for Gregg.

Mike was a great guy, it was a pleasure working with him. I'm satisfied that I got a good deal, I would have liked to get a better price, but really when can you not say that? It was not necessarily my intention to buy today, but Mike was too good of a guy and I really wanted to do business with him.

Our experience with the G.M., Joe De Luca, and his salesman, John, at Tipton Honda this afternoon was outstanding. We were shopping for a new car and went to Honda unsure of what we wanted to buy. Joe and John lead us through the often exhausting car buying experience with care and kindness. Those two attribute are often missing from the impersonal, "make the sale" approach of other dealers. We would recommend Tipton Honda to anyone in the market for a new car!

This was the best experience Ive had buying a car thanks to Amil Marrima, Joe Deluca and Lynn Kealy. I found Amil to be knowledgeable, personable and professional. After taking the Accord out for a test drive he patiently explained how to use features I wasnt familiar with. I was really impressed by his knowledge and familiarity with the Accord I wanted.Lynn Kealy helped me thru the financial end of the purchase. She took the time to explain the different options, warranty and maintenance plans. The financing options allowed me the flexibility needed to complete the sale. Thanks so much for the hard work.Within a short period of time I drove off the lot with the car I wanted and with more options and was still within my budget. I awoke this morning, reviewed the deal in my mind, and Im still a very happy customer of Tipton. Joe Deluca, his sales staff, and finance staff were excellent to deal with. There was no pressure to buy, nor was there any rush in the buying process. I would recommend that anyone looking to buy a vehicle visit Tipton Honda first and see what they can do for you! Your experience will be a pleasant one.

This is the second Honda we have purchased from Tipton in the past two years. Each experience has been exceptional in every aspect. When it came time to purchase our newest vehicle I never hesitated in going back to Tipton. Their professionalism and ease of doing business will bring me back every time. I have had the opportunity to use most of the services from the body shop & service departments to the sales department and I cannot express my my gratitude enough to everyone there. So when shopping for a new Honda please give them every opportunity to show you what a great team they are. Thanks again...Cathy

We wanted to purchase a 2011 Honda Odyssey in Mocha Mettalic. Dale & the staff searched other dealerships & found just the right Honda Odyssey. My husband and I had been looking at Toyota Camrys and possibly Priuses. He suggested we look at Hondas. We'd gone in to possibly look at the Civic hybrid and saw the Accords. They were beautiful. We compared the value to a Camry, and the Honda won! Mike was very patient in taking us on a number of test drives -- and this was on a Monday night about an hour before closing! We were shown a beautiful 2010 Accord that really fit the description of what we were looking for, and the decision was made fairly quickly. We feel we got a reasonably good value for our trade-in and a fair price on the Accord. We were able to complete the sale that evening, and the entire process went very smoothly.

I went to take a test drive of a 2011 CRV. I told the salesman I wanted to just sit in one and then asked to drive one. Another salesman came over at this point after the first one had left. I assumed he was a manager. I told him I had started looking a year ago and had driven a 2010 model. He asked me if I was going to buy today and I said no. Then he said there was no sense in letting me drive one since I had already done so a year ago.At this point I left the dealership.

I wanted a 2011 Odyssey Touring which is hard to come by. Amil said he would call me as soon as they got one and he called me before it had even arrived at the dealership. I walked in with the price quote I got from the internet and they did not argue. They made it so easy and they took my old leased Honda back without any hassle. They car even arrived before the scheduled date. I am a happy soccer and dance mom driving in the Rolls Royce of mini vans. Thank you.

I went in to purchase a car for my daughter. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I was a little apprehensive about the purchase and the General Manager stepped in and worked very hard to make sure I was comfortable and to make sure I got the deal that worked best for me. At the end I was very comfortable and happy with the deal he worked out for me. I felt like everyone there worked very hard to make this happen for me ans to make sure I was happy. I have actually bought three cars now through this dealership and highly reccommend them.

My wife and I were in the market for a used car. After driving around to several dealers over a few days, I finally found the right car at Tipton Honda. The service and friendliness and family atmosphere was OUTSTANDING. I felt as though my satisfaction came before the sale. I noticed that there was an issue on the paint and didn't even have to make a request. It was suggested by the sales manager that Tipton would resolve it free of charge. That is why I rated Tipton as an outstanding dealer. I will definately consider Tipton on my next car buying trip.

I was in the market for a new CR-V. Via the internet, I had obtained numerous quoates. I was told to bring the lowest quote and they would match or beat it. When I presented the quoate, they told me they would not match it. I wanted to know if I could make up the difference in my Trade-In. They offered half the value listed on Kelly Blue Book. Needless to say, I did not purchase a vehicle with Tipton.

This dealership is HORRIBLE I do not recommend this one to ANYONE. the not only offered me a bible, I am jewish, but reniged on the deal after PROMISING THEY could work it out with me. I had to return the car a week later and deal with the additionally stress-- something that I could not handle after an abusive relationship that lead to a bankruptcy and student loan default. I was PROMISED things would work out and I was brutally mistaken.

I went in for an oil change and the service advisor was so rude I left before getting my oil change. At this dealer the service advisor comes first and then the customer. I have been to this dealer before and had no problems, but after this visit I will NEVER go back. After reading some of the other reviews it appears that I am not alone receiving poor and rude customer service. There are many other dealers that ALWAYS provide outstanding customer service.

Great service!! These people know how to treat a customer. The service manager is very easy to work with. I will keep going to this dealer to service and purchase my Honda vehicles. Mark Payne helped us get out of warranty work done at no cost!

Horrible customer service. I had to fight with everyone in the store to get my car fixed, even if it was under warranty. They will treat you like crap. DON"T GO TO TIPTON HONDA! I got a used 2007 Honda Fit from them. I looked at the carfax review and the car was bought at auction, meaning it was either a rental or a repo car. First off, we were paying cash, and we wanted to see if we could get an extended warranty, they would not have it. Also we wanted an extra key made, they were going to charge over $100 for a new key. THey were incredibly rude, but the car was in good condition and had very little mileage, so we went ahead. Well the next day i find out that the cigarrete lighter didn't work, and the overhead light wasn't working either. Well yesterday i was driving to work and noticed that the ceiling light was hanging by it's cord. So I took off early came to dealership, and waited for TWO hours to find out that the previous owner tampered with the wiring and the lights and that it was not covered under warranty. I was not going to pay for something that I didn't do, so they decided to fix the car but I would either have to leave the car over night or come back the next day. Couldn't do that because I have to work. SO i asked to talk to a manager. 15 minutes later they told me they fixed my car. Great! But know i want to know if the previous owner tampered with anything else, so i wanted all the fluids drained and flushed. They would not have that. In fact I had to talk to three different sales managers, and the head manager, and just ended up getting yelled at, accused of destorying my own car, and threated to be thrown out of the lot. THe guy also yelled at my father over the phone and hung up on him. Please, read all the reviews. I did and just pushed them off to the side. Don't do what I did. Don't go to Tipton.

We took our Accord in for an inspection service and oil change. Even though our inspection sheet listed that everything was fine with the car, we had two high-beam headlight bulbs that were burned out. We weren't given a reason as to why the technician didn't catch the two burned out bulbs during the inspection. What else did they miss? One day after having the inspection, our radiator suddenly started spewing coolant. We took the car BACK to Tipton and was told we had a crack in the radiator. Very odd that this happened immediately after service.I have absolutely no trust in their service department and would not recommend them at all.

Unbelievable. I leased my 2004 Civic from Tipton without too many problems. When my lease was up I went to Tipton to try to lease a new Civic for more options. Not only did they try to rip us off by offering a $448 lease on a middle of the road Civic (i got them down to $50 above what is should have cost), they also wouldn't honor the buy back value of my previously leased car. As a matter of fact, they tried to accuse me of trying to rip them off. I ended up buying my leased civic from tipton that day because the dealer said I had the option of finding my own financing after I signed the papers. I know now that that was not true. It turns out they begged us to buy from them because wanted to tack on $1000 to the lease amount for no reason other than to pad their earnings. Their comment about finding other financing meant we were able to give them a check from a bank to buy the car for their price, and not to buy the car from Honda Financial which would have been $1000 less. I'm sure they knew we wouldn't take a better look at the lease papers because we were trying to deal with a crying baby while going through this ordeal. Don't waste your time with Tipton, their bussiness practices border on criminal.

Once you sign the purchase contract and write your check, the salesman will forget about you. The day after I bought my car, the car didn't start and the backdoor wouldn't lock. I dropped the car off the next day (Saturda) and called on Wednesday to ask what they checked out on the car in re: to it not starting. She said that they didn't check anything. She said they kept it over night to see if it started the next morning and it did. So they didn't check anything. I said- the car didn't start and I want everything that can prevent a car from not starting, checked out. Then she puts me on the phone with the service guy. When she told me that she doesn't know if they'll have time to look at it today, I told them both that was the reason I brought the car in on Saturday (4 days ago) was to have it checked out, not just to sit there in their garage. I have really hated dealing with all the people that I've dealt with so far that work there. Their customer service is non-existent. I've haven't heard an apology yet.
