My wife and I recently purchased a used Honda Clarity plug-in from this dealership. Paris Spry was our sales rep. He was relatively new, and still learning all the details about these complex and sophisticated cars, but he’s personable, hard-working and earnest. Had a great experience with Daniel Lew at Honda of Oakland. He made the process easy! For a sales person he want pushy or slick, just genuine and helpful. He was able to explain all the features of the car I was interested in and even got me the interest rate I wanted! While we were waiting for the financing we had a lovely conversation about his family and things felt like they were done efficiently. Had a great experience and now a great new (used) car!

I came to Honda to bring my car due to a recall letter regarding my airbags. When I arrived I spoke to "Service Advisor" Victor. Since I came to the shop a little late he advised me to come early in the morning and if I left it that day they would have kept it overnight. I arrived the next morning and took care of all my questions and got my radio to work the day prior. My car was ready around 10:30am. While the work was being performed he called me to inform me of he he had encountered during the process and thought that was very nice of him for bringing awareness to mind. Overall performance he was very professional, knowledgeable and respectful and would definitely come to him for services.

I was shown what I asked to see instead of being pushed into a more expensive car. I expected attempts to sell me more than I was asking for, but I felt respected when I said I knew what I wanted. I walked away with exactly what I was looking for and enjoyed the process. I appreciated having real conversations with the nice, friendly people who helped me. Honda of Oakland is the most Fraudulent Service center I have ever encountered. They take advantage of out of state travelers, especially women!!!We are from Texas and have a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The check engine light came on and started making moaning sounds while we were on a recent road-trip. Took the car into Honda of Oakland for answers. After 2.5 hours of waiting, the Service rep (Mike) came out to tell me that the transmission was fried. He told me that "the transmission fluid was burned and he could smell the burning transmission fluid as I drove into the shop." On top of that the power steering pump had a leak as well as a leak in the power steering line. When I asked if they could replace the transmission fluid just so we could limp home, he stated "I wouldn't put my family back in that car!" He said they wouldn't drain the fluid as that could potentially cause additional problems. Our only option was to replace the transmission. (or, unstated, buy a new car)Faced with the decision to plug $6,000 into a 2007 car or buy a new car, we decided to think about it for a bit. Back at the hotel, I jumped onto Yelp to find an auto repair shop that might squeeze us in to give us a second opinion and found Johnee's Auto Repair with excellent Yelp reviews, including one from another cheated Honda of Oakland customer. Johnee couldn't get the check engine codes to download so he researched the codes provided by the Honda Service center in their database. The first thing it stated was to drain the transmission fluid and look for metal shavings. ((But wait...Honda said that they wouldn't do that, but their own Check Engine Database says that is the first thing to do. Hmmm)) If there were metal shavings, then the transmission would have to be replaced, if not, simply replace the transmission fluid. Guess what.... there weren't any shavings!!! Now, how would Honda of Oakland Service center know that my transmission was fried since they weren't willing to drain the transmission fluid.Mike was very friendly and I thought that he was genuinely concerned. I don't know if he was duped by the Service Department as well, or if he was making it up as we talked. The printed report he handed me didn't have descriptions of the check engine codes, and he kept referring to a hand written report that I couldn't read.The entire problem was solved with only $200 paid to Johnee on top of the $150 paid to Honda of Oakland, as opposed to the $6000 that Honda of Oakland quoted, and the car drives great and we made it back to Texas without any problems.

This dealership sold me a car for more than $18K. They falsified the car fax report, lied about repairs and didn't do the fixes they promised when I bought the car. After signing the contract, within days, the car started to fall apart. Tires deflating, stereo not working, plastic falling off, headlights malfunction. Basically, the car is undriveable. Also, I got three calls post contract of people calling me and asking for more money, They said that they messed up the paperwork, just seems like another scam from these people.I spoke with many, many people and got many, many promises. None fulfilled, I'm stuck with a $18K lemon and have only my warning to pass along.

After our purchase from Honda of Oakland we were fooled into getting the extended warranty. Upon realizing that our insurance company would provide the same service for a cheaper price, we contacted Honda and were told that they would decrease the extend of our warranty and match the price of the insurance company. However, 5 months have passed and we can't get the warranty decreased! All our communication has been ignored! My husband was treated with disrespect upon our face to face contact. All our e-mail inquiries have been ignored! I have never been so humiliated! Honda Oakland sales team is nice at first, but the finance people kill all that!

I shopped at a couple of dealerships and requested a quote at Honda.com and Glenn Scheffer responded with a very good price. I drove from Marin to Oakland and Glenn was excellent. He is very knowledgeable and low key. He was easy to negotiate with and we reached a deal I felt was fair. The whole process was very pleasant. This was our 2nd purchase from this dealership after 5 years. We were able to have the same excellent salesman. We returned because we were very happy with our prior experience. The CRV we purchased before has been great; it is now retiring to Hawaii. We were a bit overwhelmed with all the technical information on the GPS, but we will recall what we were told with usage and the manuals. Initially, I was quite impressed with the e-mail follow up to a phone quote in response to my internet inquiry as to the out-the-door price of the Accord SE. I had spoken w/Sheldon on Tuesday morning (6/26) prior to taking BART to the station where he would pick me up. Upon returning to the dealership w/him, he told me that "my" car was coming from San Bruno and wasn't at their facility yet. I waited quite a long time before the car arrived--Sheldon kept assuring me that it would be arriving soon. Didn't keep track of the time but I know it went well beyond a reasonal time it would have taken to get to their location from San Bruno even in a lot of traffic. I wasn't even offered a glass of water for the inconvenience. I had just brought some snacks w/me which did not suffice as a substitute for lunch. My fault that I didn't ask for a place close by where I could get lunch. Once they had all the paperwork lined up, they wanted me to fill in and sign all the necessary paperwork--the car wasn't even there yet so I told them I'd wait until the car arrived. The process went rather smoothly with their finance person, Angel, until we got to the optional warranty policy. He knew I was very reluctant to purchase same but continued to pressure me giving me discounts for "this & that" & using examples as to why this was a good idea. I finally caved because I just wanted to get out of there-mea culpa. Sheldon, for his part, was very detailed and helpful in explaning the features of the car for which I commend him. All said & done, I would have waited until today, the 27th, if I had known that the car wasn't at the dealership. In summation, it was not a pleasant experience. When you're spending that kind of money, you'd like to come away w/a positive attitude. Not feeling very positive right now.

Hands down the best car buying experience I ever had. We came from about 100 miles away, they picked us up at the train station (in the car I wanted - might as well get the test drive out of the way) and less than an hour later, we were back on the road again. The service by everybody we encountered during the process was exceptional - no "stereo typical" car dealers here! Appreciate that they actually answer e-mails within hours vs. days or not at all as I experienced with several other dealers. If you're going to offer live chat, HAVE SOMEBODY AT THE OTHER END! Very efficient, professional, beautiful facility, even filled the gas tank all the way. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Highly recommend this place.

I was coming from out of town 1 1/2 hours. I was promised a "clean car" to come by and see. They told me it was going to be detailed when I got there because they just got it in 2 days ago. We made trek and the car had stains all over the upholstery and floor, trash inside, too. Not to mention that there was a big dent in the roof and minor scratches all over it. Over the phone, they said it was "clean." Not sure about what they think "clean" means, but I sure felt grimy and grungy leaving the dealership. A lot of drive with little follow through on their part. Buyer beware, just a dealership to take your money! Didn't seem honest in the least.

I came in with my mom to help her buy a new car. We were planning on getting a Toyota, but thought we should just take a look at Honda just as a formality. Robin was assigned to us as we were looking around. She was friendly, easy going, helpful and not pushy at all. She gave us breathing room so-to-speak to make an important purchasing decision. Why can't all car sales people be like this?We looked at an Insight, an Accord and test drove a Civic. She was with us the whole time, very helpful and answered all our questions. When we said we needed to think about it, she didn't pressure us - instead she provided us with useful brochures on the cars we saw and told us to call her if we had any questions. We probably spent about 2+ hours with her that day. We went to a Toyota dealership and were immediately attacked by 3 super aggressive salesmen. It was such an aggressive, unpleasant experience, we just wanted to get out of there asap. Why must car dealerships be like this? Does it really help sales to be that aggressive? I don't think so. In the end we decided to get a Honda Accord. This is the third Honda in our family, and the 2nd Accord. We got a great price and Robin helped us through the purchase. My mom said it was the most pleasant car purchase she ever went through. If you are looking for a Honda, and sick of super aggressive unpleasant sales tactics, and just want to make your mind up peacefully for your next car purchase - go see Robin. She's awesome!

The first time I walked into this dealership was 5 years ago when I bought my 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid. Had a great experience back then and because of that we continued to recommend Honda of Oakland to our friends and family. I just recently went back looking for a CR-V and worked with Robin for the first time. With the manager, Montel Duncan's assistance, I well on my way with a beautiful new car. They are very knowledgeable about their vehicles and offer highly competitive pricing -- I have compared prices with Internet dealers. Honda of Oakland has me hooked as a life long customer.

Overall I had a very positive experience at Honda of Oakland. I purchased a new CRV. They gave me quotes that were below the TMV quotes listed on Edmunds. I had a trade-in vehicle, which I didn't have to haggle very much with on the price. My main salesman Isaac was very friendly, not pushy or trying to aggressively oversell the vehicle. I can't about their service department, as I haven't dealt with them, but overall the sales team was very professional. I would recommend my own friends and family.

I have purchased Honda fit recently from Honda Oakland, and I wanted to share my experience with the new buyers of Honda car, so it may help them in cut short the chase, whether it is a price or customer satisfaction. It is too good to be true from the time they offered me a competative price & all through out they took care of us when we are filling up the formalaties. My previous car was also Honda, and my experience with Honda dealers are always good, but these guys are just stand out on top. Keep it up guys, bayarea need some help from quality dealers like you. Definately I recommend my friends to buy the car from these guys, but check it yourselves!! Good luck with your hunting!!!

Went into dealership to explore Honda Civic Hybrid and was welcomed by staff. Several days later called and spoke to M. Duncan who over the phone was able to solidify the purchase and find the correct car near by. He was able to negotiate the trade in value we wanted for our old Civic Hybrid. Mr. Smith spent a lot of time describing the features of the car and when he was unable to answer questions he found the individuals who could. Never felt rushed.

I recently had my 2010 Civic which I bought from the same dealership totaled by a drunk driver. Terrible, I know. But Angel and Montel were able to get me into a replacement 2011 Civic so quickly (and at such a competitive price), I couldn't hep but be impressed. While trying out cars, the one I wanted (color-wise) didn't "feel" right in terms of steering. There weren't any more on the lot that matched my specifications, but Montel went out of his way to drive to some undisclosed location to pick up another car for me. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with Honda of Oakland as I plan to have all my servicing done there and will certainly consider them first for any new car purchases, as I've done in the past.

When I went to the store, I'm still trying to decide which one to buy, a Sienna or an Odessey. And also not sure if I can get approved, if they did, then it's o.k. but if they don't no big deal. And I believe if God really want me to have that car, then everything will run smoothly and it did. Shawn Duyette is a very honest person and very accommodating, stayed with me up to the end of the sale even if it is New Years Eve(12/31/2010)and we were the last one to closed the office. This is my second new purchase from Honda of Oakland. My first experience was great. I got the car and price I could work with, but the service I received from the staff far exceeded my expectations, which motivated me to buy again. My former Honda was in great shape but I felt it was time to trade it in while it still ran well (thanks to continued Honda servicing). I'd only thought about calling Honda of Oakland when out of the blue, they called me! I spoke with Robin, made an appointment and now I am in a new 2011 Honda Accord, fully loaded, and am as happy as I can be. Robin Takata is the absolute best. Honest, straight-forward and a wonderful personality. She answered all my questions, instructed me on how to use the various equipment on the car and helped me realize the importance of my Honda Accord as a good investment. She is a big credit to Honda. I will refer her to anyone and everyone who is interested in buying a car. My experience with Roger Vizcarra in financing was as smooth and expeditious as could possibly be. Roger helped me with my 2006 Honda and again with my 2011 Honda. He is excellent at what he does. His explanations are not only clear, but thorough as well. He is professional, a very good listener and he took really good care of me. My daughter will be leaving for college in a year and a half. When I purchase a car for her, it will be one from Honda of Oakland and I'll be looking for Robin & Roger to do it again. Believe that! Thanks for all you've done.

I was shopping for a new Honda Fit. I'd had some trouble finding the right model in the right color. Although Honda of Oakland did not have the exact car in stock, they found it for me in less than a week. Issac, the salesman, was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and he did not apply pressure. When I negotiated the price with Kon, the sales manager, I told him the price I wanted, and he said, "we can do that." That was the extent of the negotiation. Overall it was a very positive experience.

I brought my girl friends car in because it was making a groaning noise in the rear when you turn. To make a long story short they basically said the repair was not covered by the warranty and wouldn't return the car until I paid. After I got the car back I looked at the warranty in the glove box. It was very clear the work was covered under warranty. Her cas was well within the milage and time fram of the warrant. There is even a service bulletin (S/B 07-024) that stats that the normal warranty applies. It is unbelievable how dishonest they are.

I brought my car in Oakland Honda for a driver-side rear wheel hub bearing replacement of my 2003 Honda Accord. I brought my car in early of the day (dont remember the exact time) on a Saturday and received my car finished by closing time. The problem I have with the dealer is I had to replace the same bearing in less than 9k mi again. From what I know, a wheel bearing of an ordinary sedan should last the lifetime of a car.I problem I had for the first time repair was my Honda got spin-off to a rough unpaved-road and the bearing was damage and made sound while the wheel was spinning during driving. So I found out Oakland Honda had the part in-stock and can replace the bearing right away. I had schedule an appt. that day and brought in my car for repair. I have waited most of the day for the repair and about an hour before closing I walked inside the repair area to see the progress and also talk to the technician to see if my car have other damages. What I saw was my car was just sitting on the rack half way unfinished and untouched. The technician, a Vietnamese guy, was there just chatting and wait for the time to go by and would just finished the last project of the day and go home for the weekend. After I received the car, the sound from the wheel was mostly gone, but since the repair on 03/10/07, I just noticed the sound came back and had redo the same repair work in Walnut Creek Honda. I suspect the issue I had to redo the repair work was:A defected bearing for 1st repairThe technician did not do good repair workI think the technician problem is more possible because the probability of having a detect part from Honda should be minimal. Because QC on part have to ensure reliable parts to put on car, otherwise it would be costly for Honda to replace bad parts on new sold cars.

Absolutely the worst car purchasing experience Ive ever had. Tina, the internet Sales Manager, attired in dirty sweat pants and sneakers was both unprofessional and rude in her duties as the go between with the behind the glass sales manager, Chi.Her lack of product knowledge and inability to deliver the product as promised says a lot about this dealership. Communication with the general manager, Todd was useless as well. He couldnt even follow up on his promise for a free oil change on a 28k vehicle. The pricing was within $100 of other area dealers, but not worth the hassle of dealing with this unconcerned dealership. I bought the vehicle, but ended up going home to take a long showerAvoid!

I was referred by a friend, who has purchased a car there two weeks ago. I was intrigued by their highly-advertised 0%-financing and requested a quote over the phone. I asked if I could stop by after work to meet the sales person and have a look at their lot.The moment I arrived things got off the wrong foot. First Tina couldn't remember what Accord model she gave me a quote on and then immediately proceeded a more expensive model on me. When I kept protesting she kept insisting that was the model I wanted and requested over the phone. I should have left at that point. She then sent someone to get the car, which I did want to see, but had no intention of buying at that point. I've seen enough. To get her to stop and realize that she has lost me along the way took a super-human effort. I should have simply walked out but thought that it was rude. Please don't go to this place unless you are ready to deal with Guantanamo-style pressure and tactics. And my reward for putting myself though this: an indignant and sullen sales person. Awesome!

After I traded in my old car for a new Honda, the dealer did not complete the paperwork on the trade in a timely manner, resulting in me being liable for another payment on my trade-in. Then they never completed the DMV paperwork on the trade-in and lied that they did. Their general manager Todd King is beyond rude. I always purchase Hondas, and am an Oakland resident, but this is my first and last time buying from Honda of Oakland. Try El Cerrito Honda, they are great.

I was calling to schedule an appointment for buying a car over the phone, but this sales person was SO RUDE and HUNG ME UP. After that, I don't have any faith to go back there again, REGARDLESS they might offer irrestiable deals. And I won't recommand any of my friends to buy ANYTHING from this person neither. If you have to go there, I suggest you to talk to SOMEONELSE. I am sure other sales resp. will have more incentive to work in the same dealership.
