Our 2008 Saturn Vue had transmission problems and GM had a bulletin that stated there was a problem with a part in the transmission that could fail. The part failed out on the road and had to towed to Mike Molstead Motors for repair. The service and parts technicians were super in getting the car in for repair and taking care of the problem. Mike Molstead Motors had our vehicle back on the road in a few days and worked with GM to have the complete job covered under the bulletin that came from GM. Mike Molstead worked with GM for the towing reimbursement also! Great job Mike Molstead Motors!!!!

They(Joe) go out of there way to give you the best deal possible and make it easy to do business with them. I bought two mikes cars in less then a year because ours got wrecked. When we knew we needed a new car we knew we would go to Richard Payton at mikes again. We found a car that was super clean and we fell in love. They held it for a couple days till our claim went through on the car that had been wrecked which was outstanding. I will always buy from mikes. I have been to other places and no where else have i felt so welcome. The only thing is. Low trade in prices and also they have no insentive for repeat costumers. If you refer someone there is but not if you are a loyal customer thats kinda wierd. I asked about it and i was told " We like repeat customers but were more trying to get new customers." That was a little slap in the face because this is the second time in two uears i have refused to look anywhere but mikes because of my loyalty.

Took my vehicle in for servicing and was walking around the lot while it was being worked on. Had four different employees approach me and asked if I needed help or had any questions, they were not overwhelming and once they knew I was just looking they were very polite and struck up a conversation. When we bought the truck we had to drive from Missouri all the way to Iowa. The original track that we were going to buy didn't end up handing out to what we wanted, but then my husband found an even better truck for an even better price, and we purchased that one. When we got home there was a very little tug in the engine and the brake cables were frozen up, but when I called to let them know of the problem they were very fast to fix it and send a check to a local auto so we did not have to drive back to Iowa. I only deal with honest people and if that means honest dealerships I would buy from them again.

I purchased a 2013 Chevy Suburban from Dan Klatt. Dan and I talked about what I needed in a vehicle and after test driving several different SUV it was evident what I needed was a Suburban. Dan began the search for just the right car. He quickly found one and helped me work out the trade in on my old vehicles. The staff was very helpful from getting all the paperwork done to programing the garage door opener. On May 8th we came to Charles City, and noticed a pretty red Ford Taurus. Mike Walter was very helpful. We asked about Jeff Buss and was told it was his day off. Mike said he would leave a note for Jeff. We returned on Saturday afternoon, concerned about ease of getting into the vehicle as well as getting to learn how to drive a newer car. Jeff assured us he would be able to help us. After the discussion we met with Jim Molstead, signed papers and wrote a check. We would return on Monday to get further instruction and take the car home. Over weekend there were some second thoughts, but on Monday Jeff Buss and Jim Molstead assured us we would surely enjoy the car. We drove it home and are learning to appreciate it.

Do not buy a car from these people! I went there to check out a car and it turned out to be a complete joke. The pictures that they posted did not show any of the body damage that the car had nor did it say that the engine was a rebuild. The salesman lied about how long the dealership had the car for sale (he said 2 months when they actually had it for over 6 months). When I asked about a test drive he said that we could but right as we were about to start the car he said "wait I have to go speak with a manager first". He ran over to the office and made us wait 10 mins in that time we could see him standing inside watching us (not speaking to anyone inside). When he came back he said that he had to check to see if a customer earlier that day had put money down on the car. I would not by a car from these people!

Traveling to Charles City for a family emergency, my Ford Ranger developed engine problems. A family member recommended Molstead Motors because he and several other family members in the area have been satisfied customers for years. My truck was dropped off at the service dept and my time constraints explained to the very helpful service advisor, Bruce Delap. He assured me it would be ready for my trip back to Chicago the next morning. The problem was diagnosed within an hour and I was told repairs would cost $1,000. Given my schedule, I had no other option but to approve the repairs. One water pump later ($250 in parts and $750 in labor), I was on the road back home the next day. Having never paid anywhere near this amount for a water pump replacement in my life, back in Chicagoland where everything costs more, I consulted my dealership and also my local mechanic. Both agreed that I had been incredibly overcharged. When presented with the price, I had even asked to speak with a Molstead salesman to discuss the possibility of just trading my Ranger for a new truck. Sign the papers, hand him the money and drive off the lot. Apparently the salesman had little interest in an easy sale because we talked less than 5 minutes. I will never return to this dealership should I need future repairs while back on regular family visits nor would I recommend it to anyone. Frankly, I would pay to have my vehicle towed past this dealership to go anywhere else. Other members of my family have also started taking their business elsewhere after hearing of my experience.

I live in Bloomington, IL and found this 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee at Mike Molstead Motors, they actually had 2 of them in of exactly what I wanted. I contacted Josh Molstead on Saturday and he followed up promptly and gave the information I needed. He was more than helpful and we negotiated everything over the phone and what he might be able to do on my trade in. I went and picked the Jeep up on Tuesday morning (5 hour drive) and was in and out very quickly. I felt at ease and liked that Josh didn't back up on my trade in offer ( I had told him the minor issues before hand and he took that into consideration). Troy was very thorough on showing me all the options and took a lot of time out of his day to make sure my questions were answered, thanks for that. Dean in Finance had me in and out quickly as well. This was a pleasure to drive the 5hours home and wished my trip was longer as it went by so quickly. This Jeep has so many options on it that it will take me at least a year to figure them all out and that's not a bad thing. I will definately consider making the 5 hour trip again to this dealer on me or my wife's next car as I had such a great experience and the price is unmatched.... I am now the proud owner of a 2013 Buick, thanks to the wonderful staff at Mike Molstead Motors. I drove over, on my own, thinking I would look at my options. The sales staff is polite, courteous, and spent a great deal of time asking ME what I was looking for in a vehicle. They took a genuine interest in my wishes, budget, likes and dislikes. I was able to test-drive whatever I thought looked interesting and the sales staff made sure I understood fully the options, features and nuances of each vehicle. After more than 2 hours,I walked away feeling confident that I would definatly be back soon. Five days later, I went back to finalize my purchase. The atmosphere is comfortable,. warm and friendly. There is no pressure, no rush and all the staff is interested in the customer, not only the salesperson I dealt with. They worked around my schedule to have my vehicle in pristine condition...washed, gassed up and ready to go...and to allow plenty of time to personally show us all the features of our car, making sure we could operate the many goodies that came with it! We fully intend to continue shopping Mike Molstead Motors for future purchases for ourselves, as well as our 3 children.

First of all, I spent A LOT of time researching for a used low mile 2011 truck over the internet and I wanted to make sure that I got what I was looking for. This was the best truck buying experience that someone being on the road for 10 hours could hope for. The salesman and finance person that I communicated with via internet,phone and in person were truly gentleman. I actually felt like I knew these guys for sometime. I was in and out in little over 1.5 hours. With Jeff's advice we ended up with the complete opposite of what we thought we would get, and have not been happier!! We bought used, and noticed a few "glitches" we didn't expect about a week into having the car. We went in with a specific vehicle in mind, which they didn't happen to have. They quickly found exactly what we wanted, gave us a great trade value on our car and a great price on the new one. We didn't argue one bit over price, my wife and I had done our research and the deal the gave us was better than we hoped. The finance manager used one of their banks to find us a loan that was WAY lower than anything I was able to find on my own. Needless to say, we bought the car on the spot. When you get treated so well, by friendly people, and the price is what you hoped for or better, there was no point to waiting! We were car shopping and decided to stop and see what Mike Molstead's had on the lot. We were met with a warm friendly salesperson (Kathy) who showed us several vehicles that met our search criteria. She was open and honest about each vehicle and she knew alot about each one she showed. We decided to purchase a vehicle and Kathy walked us through each step of what would happen. EVERY person we dealt with was professional and friendly. Questions were answered. We felt like they really cared about helping us feel comfortable with what we were doing. We never felt pressurd or pushed to do something we didn't want to do! We loved that. The enviornment was quite pleasant. Beverages and snacks were offered in a very homey area set up for families to wait. Every person we came in contact with whether they were helping us or not was pleasant and friendly. After we took our vehicle home we had problems with it starting. We returned to Mike Molstead's and they got us right in and replaced the battery with no hassles! Our vehicle has been running great ever since. The most important thing we look for in a car dealership is honesty! And we feel like everyone at Molstead's was honest and upfront! We trusted them! My husband is one of those that when he is ready to buy,there is no looking around. He knows what he wants and for how much. I had been driving a 2000 Ford Explorer since fall of 1999. We had over 206,000 miles on it with no major problems, so when it came time to look for something new, I told my husband that I would really like to have another Explorer. We went over to Charles City, late one Thursday night, to Molstead Motors to see what they had. We drove into the lot and look around and saw a few explorers on the lot. We got out of the car and immediatly had Dan, one of the dealers come up to us and asked us if there was anything he could help us with. We told him what we wanted and he took it from there. We test drove a very nice 2012 Explorer, but when all was said and done, it realy was more that what I wanted. He took us into his office and started looking on the computer for something that would work for us. He found a 2012 Explorer but would take a day to bring in, and we said no problem. Dan went and started the paper work and explained to us that they would take care of everything and to expect a call in the morning as to the status of everything. Well, my husband called me at working late morning and told me he had bad news and good news. The 2012 Explorer was no longer available, but we could get a 2013 brand new Explorer for almost the same money and that they could have it here in a another day. I thought to my self, how could that be, but it was true. We told them to start the paper work and we would be there late Thursday to pick it up. Well, when we got there, there was this bright red explorer sitting in front of the building, my husand and I looked at each other and said, do you think that is ours, and thankfully it was. It was beautiful. We sat down to start the paperwork and I never new it could be so easy. They did everything from finding who had the best interest rates on the vehicle, to getting the paperwork to the courthouse to calling our insurance agent and getting the paper work going with them. We didn't have to do any running around at all. The thing that impressed me also was that everyone helped us and were all very polite. Both times when we were at the dealer ship it was late in the evening and Dan was there well past closing time, but never did he make us feel like we were an inconvience to him. Thanks much Dan.

Do not buy a car with an extended warranty before reading this.....My family needed a larger vehicle for my wife to take the girls to school, work and to drive through the Iowa winters. Since we knew what type of vehicle we wanted all we needed to do is find a place to purchase it from which was ethical and moral. So, we asked around through family and friends which recommended us to take a trip north to Charles City to Mike Molstead Motors. We did and found a one owner GMC Yukon SLT. We purchased the vehicle for a fair price, had a good salesperson and purchased an extended warranty (Select is administered by a Protective company and backed by Lyndon Property Insurance Company) through the dealership due to being a pre-owned (1 local owner) vehicle. The warranty was to cover any major problems that would occur. Of course, not the normal wear and tear (ex. tires, brakes, light bulbs, oil changes, wipes, things of this nature). Thank goodness we purchased the warranty for 36 months. Now, we've owned the vehicle for 23 months and have had to use the warranty over a half dozen times. Of course, now we have 13 months left on the warranty an had your auto ride system go out. It will cost us over $1,200 to fix the auto ride system that we found out was not covered by the warranty company. So, I asked Molsteads for some help in looking into the issue by giving them our mechanics name that works on our vehicle and all the claim information. They never called the mechanic to check on the mechanical terminology/issues and it took me emailing them over 3 times and over a period of 3 weeks for them to respond to us. They responded in an short three sentence email and never once had the courtesy to call to explain anything. So, I WOULD NOT recommend this dealership due to lacking in professionalism, customer service and not standing behind their warranty products. I'm speaking out due to seeing the advertisements on all the satisfied customers. Trust me, my family is not satisfied with paying over $2,200 for an extended warranty and still has to pay out another $1,200 to fix the vehicle.Disappointed and Non-repeat customerTravis and Lori from Waterloo, IA

Purchasing the pickup was a good experience. I drove 2 1/2 hours from Mankato, MN twice. I was given adequate attention. Overall I am very happy with the truck.However, there were two minor issues that I called about resolving - things I discovered they were made aware of by the previous owner when it was traded in. It has been THREE MONTHS since I called the first time. I have called a total of five times with assurances that I would be called back with status. I have yet to receive a call back. My experience with service after the sale has been horrible.

I've never liked the car-buying process. Pushy salespeople, price haggling and up-selling aren't fun. So naturally I was prepared for this when I went the Mike Molstead Motors. To my surprise, there was none of this. I was contacted by Keegan Davis after submitting my vehicle information on Autotrader.com. There was no pressure, he just wanted to know what I was looking for, and if he could help. I lived over 2 hours away, but decided it would be worth the trip if I ended up with a good deal.The first thing I noted was how friendly everyone at the dealership was. Everyone I came in contact with, or even casually walked by greeted me, and not in the superficial "we're going to be nice to you because we want to sell you a car" kind of way, it was genuine. I got the feeling that everyone who worked there liked their job and liked working there.Keegan was professional and helpful through out the process. We came to an agreement on a price for the vehicle I wanted, and they gave me a great price on my trade-in. I drove home in the new (to me) vehicle with a smile on my face, still in disbelief that the process was, dare I say, enjoyable.Even though it's quite a haul for me, when it comes time for a new vehicle, I will check out Mike Molstead Motors first. They are that good.

I located a car on the Auto Trader internet site at Molstead / Charles City.Phone conversation with sales rep Adam yielded excellent results. Included detailedwalk-around description of vehicle, extended warranty details, prox trade-in value,and eventually pulling the vehicle from other possible sale until I arrived laterthat day. The car was exactly as described, my trade was acceptable and we madea deal with no high pressure, no gimmicks, no surprises. After a 260 mile one waydrive, surprises are not welcome. My wife bought her truck new at this dealership. Needed some parts for it did some pricing around local north Iowa dealers. Mike Molstead prices were 30% over retail. I called back and ask why there prices were so high and all they could say was that is the price the computer gives us. And that I must have been given the wholesale price at the other five dealers I had called. I ended up buying the parts from a thrid party body shop for over half price of what Mike Molstead Motors wanted.

I have given the highest possible score to this dealership because they are number 1 in all aspects of the car buying experience. Every employeee is top notch in knowledge of their job, friendliness, honesty, and reliability. No dealership works harder to make their customers feel at ease. You know you are being well cared for from the moment you step onto the lot. It is a beautiful facilty, too! Spotless, well lit and comfortable. They even have a wonderful waiting area with tv, kids play room, snacks, newspapers, all just to pamper their customers! I enjoy being a bit spoiled! I have bought several vehicles here, and plan to be back! I have never felt so at home and appreciated at any other dealership, these people really do care! So hard to find these days! A dealership with a heart! I stop by just to chat once in a while! I have also used the shop for repairs and maintence. Wonderful! You take them your problems, they fix them fast, and back on the road you go! They fix things right the first time! Very smart people! Very nice people! The garage is also shiny clean!If they don't have what you want, they will find it! They did for me! I just can't say enough about Mike Molstad Motors---the best in the business---and super people, every one of them! How refreshing!

Mike Molstead and team prove time and time again that they will WORK FOR THEIR CUSTOMER to find exactly what they want and truly deliver VALUE.I have purchased my last 2 vehicles from Jeff, despite living over 2 hours away from the dealership. I know I can count on Team Molstead to get the clear picture, and its very clear to me they have genuine interest in their customer's satisfaction. This includes but is not limited to: follow up calls and mailings, availability anytime I have a question or concern, proactively contacting their customers when better deals may be available, sales people that call you back!! etc.The best part of my experience??? If they don't have what you are looking for, tell them what you want! Mike Molstead Motors, Inc. is and has been a very reputable business in Charles City for 15 years.We have found the employees, especially Dan Klatt, to be very personable, informative and honest. The business is very community oriented and gives back to Charles City in many charitable ways. This is our first experience with Mike Molstead Motors and certainly look forward to future purchases from them. Several of our friends have purchased vehicles here and we heard great comments. We worked with Keagan and there was no sales pressure and great follow-up after the purchase, making sure we were happy, etc. We were extremely pleased with the trade-in allowed on our Escalade and love our car. I have purchased several vehicles from Dan and every time he was in toned to what I was looking for in a car. There was no presure to purchase. If the vehicle Dan had for me wasn't what I was looking for he was willing to wait until something more to what I was looking for was available. Dan knows and understands what I need and want in a car. He is very knowledgable about the vehicle and is willing to go out of his way to see that I am satisfied with my purchase.

We had been to a different dealership looking at the same model car but were not offered enough for our trade-in. We stopped at Mike Molestad's in Charles City and were greeted by Tad. We asked about the model we were looking for and he told us that they did not have it on their lot. I was getting ready to leave and said that we would look else where. Tad said that they could locate one and bring it in. I said that I did not want to mess around with trips back and forth to managers and haggle over the price of my trade in. Tad said no problem and the rest is history and we love our new car and our new dealership.

Mike Molsteads in Charles City, Iowa is a wonderful and friendly place to buy a vehicle. The staff are very helpful and friendly. If your vehichle is in the shop they are nice to give you a car to use until it is fixed. The service is quick unless it is a bigger job. Molsteads is the only place to shop.

Since moving to Charles City 13 years ago I have always been impressed with the service that has been provided. Something as simple as picking my car up and dropping it back off at my workplace to the confidence that I can trust Jason Etherington in the service department to take care of all of our auto service needs without being taken advantage of. I have bought several vehicles from Mike Molstead Motors over the years and would rank them as the best dealership I have ever dealt with. I have been to (Lake Jackson,Texas,Amarillo,Texas,Detroit,Michigan,Albany,New York,and Morgantown,W.V. and I have to say that the buying expierence is the best and the service is really great. They have a gentleman named Jason Etherington in the service advisement area he is the greatest person to talk to, and find out what is going on with your vehicle. (I don't know what they pay him, BUT he should get more.) I WOULD DEFFENTLY RECCOMEND MIKE MOLSTEAD MOTORS TO ANYONE ANY TIME.
