I have been very pleased with my first time owner of a honda. Purchased honda pilot in 2012 after previous 3 autos ford explorers. (Transmission problems on all. Never reached 70,000 miles. Pilot now at 83,000. Just put new tires on it for 40 to 50,000 more miles. Have been pleased with all my service appointments. Diane Burns has been a great informative service rep, Not pleased with new style of new pilot.l

I took my wife's 2014 Accord in to get serviced instead of doing it myself. I just didn't have the time. The staff at Phil Hughes were very pleasant and very helpful. My car was in and out in no time. I was very surprised how quickly it was done. The price was excellent. I will be returning.

Recently moved to town. Took my car in for its 25,000 Mile Maintenance Service. Both service people I worked with were very through and professional. Clearly explained what was covered and what was to be done as part of maintenance schedule. Found a few minor things (such as need to replace windshield wipers) that I was aware of but had forgotten to tell them about. Was in and out of the dealership in less than an hour. They also have a very comfortable waiting area. Very pleased with experience. Highly recommend!

This was our second vehicle purchase from Phil Hughes, and both purchase experiences were fantastic! For the second time, Gary Bowman was our sales representative. We agreed to a price for the vehicle over the phone and negotiated a few of the extras we wanted. He had our trade-in quickly evaluated upon arrival and within a short period of time we agreed on the trade-in price. It was a speedy, relaxed, no pressure experience, which is really what we wanted. Moreover, while the folks at Phil Hughes are great company, we didn't want to give up our whole Saturday haggling and they understood that and treated us with kindness and respect and made every effort to expedite the process. Gary and the whole team at Phil Hughes are wonderful to work with and treat you like you should be treated when making a large purchase - or a small purchase, for that matter. In addition, their service department is outstanding and have taken very good care of us every time we've visited, which was a strong contributing factor in our decision to buy from Phil Hughes Honda. And they provided lunch!!

I have always received courteous & professional care & treatment, anytime I have had my 2011 Honda CRV there . Two things I wish- 1. Quicker replacement of airbag from recall ( I know that Phil Hughes has to wait for the replacement parts , as well as the other auto makers) & 2. A little less expensive , but that is anywhere you go now.

Unfortunately, the business model of auto sales in the U.S. is adversarial and mutually distrustful between customers and dealers. Both sides are culpable, as customers generally are obsessed with 'winning' the best deal when maybe there are other things to consider (relationships over time, excellent service, quality). On the dealer side business models that involve salesmen and women acting as intermediaries between customer and sales managers is inherently flawed. Still, within this highly flawed framework Phil Hughes Honda stands above the rest. While they do have the typical sales mechanics, Phil Hughes has had decades to perfect a calm, respectful atmosphere. Their employees tend to be long-term and one gets the sense they are treated well. I look very closely at this factor when doing business with any organization...if they don't treat their people well, they likely can't be trusted any further.Importantly, I feel my salesman, Bryan Fuller, and finance manager, Jerry Gay, are decent, kind men working in a challenging field. I felt like I dealt with two human beings who wanted things to work out for me in a positive way. Great guys with long tenure at Phil Hughes (definitely ask for Bryan, best salesman I've ever had). I didn't need gap insurance so much, but I bought it anyway, as a thank you and acknowledgment that there are two sides to every street. I give Phil Hughes my strongest recommendation. They are the best in a tough industry and that's saying something.

I own a hybrid car and that has seemed to be intimidating or something for the small town repair shops. But my car had a weird noise, and I had to go somewhere so I took it to Hughes and I was pleased. The odd noise was just the brakes. They were possibly more expensive than the smaller repair shops, but they did what they said, and I knew what the cost would be before the repairs. And I felt confident that the work was done right.Some of the places that advertise lower prices, like the parts shops that also do brakes and oil changes and have coupons, add so much that weve felt ripped off by the time we leave. Last time anyone in our family went to one of those places the cost was over twice as much as the coupon price, with the coupon.I was very pleased. My one recommendation to them is to make better coffee, not so weak, and get real cream instead of the powder. It seems like a small thing, but if youre stuck there waiting a long time, there is no place within walking distance that I found for a decent cup of coffee. They did have cake and bottled water, which was nice.

Even though they'd never seen me before, they treated me like family. And even though it was a fairly involved repair (tune-up/valve adjustment) they diagnosed it quickly, gave me a good estimate, and helped me manage my time while I was there (they have a nice computer cubicle area away from the daytime TV :-)I had another service due, but schedule constraints meant I had to take it back to Phil Hughes on one of my Athens days. We bought a brand new Honda CR-V EXL and within a week noticed rubber coming off part of the trim on the passenger door window. We took it to our Honda dealership where we bought the car. They decided a replacement part would need to be ordered. It arrived quickly, about a day, and I took it in early the next day to have it installed. My Honda Accord that I purchased used from a totally different dealer in July 2015 began having oil consumption problems in December 2015, (as much a 1 quart in 225 miles and on average 2.5 quarts per 1000 miles) . I contacted Honda Corp to have them tell me basically get lost even though a lawsuit over this very same issue with a $17.2 million judgement against them took place. Also in the judgement from the lawsuit an extended warranty up to 125000 miles for all owners with affected vehicles was to be put in place. I can tell Honda took it seriously considering they wouldn't even honor the warranty. 20-30 phone call later and ATLEAST 20 hours with 2 calls over 3 hours each and dozens of different people I stills got nowhere even though multiple people from Honda told me that Honda should be responsible but it was above their pay grade and they couldn't do anything for me. As a last ditch effort I took it to Phil Hughes and even though it isn't fixed yet they ARE doing something and working towards getting this fixed for me. The only way I will ever buy a Honda again is at Phil Hughes in Athens Georgia. If it wasn't for these guys I would be adamant about never even taken a ride in a Honda vehicle again.

I've been coming to this location for about 4 years. We are a Honda family from as far back as I can remember. The guys at Phil Hughes have always treated me with respect and have always been up front with me about what is needed for my car, despite the stereotypes of being a "young female at the mechanics". My father visited last year and his battery randomly died in his Accord, and the guys got him sorted super fast without delayed any of the fun of their visit. My most recent experience was an oil change, tire rotation, and transmission check -- I had accidentally made the appt for Thursday instead of Wednesday and only realized it when I was at the dealership, but they not only happily serviced my car but they did it in the time quoted and over lunch! AND they told me my tires didn't need rotating (which honestly I wouldn't have known either way) so I didn't get charged for that. I actually *enjoy* visiting this dealership, love having the internet access, trust the service team, and appreciate their patient teachings whenever I have any questions. Thank you guys!

I enjoyed the friendliness of the sales rep and they were able to get us financing regardless of a less then stellar credit. However I am a bit disappointed in the quality of the vehicle. It was bought as is and with no warranty. Unfortunately either they didn't do a very in-depth inspection of the van or they did and didn't tell us all the little issues it had. Took it to two different mechanics including the Honda dealership and I was shocked at all the little yet costly issues it had.

The air conditioner in my 2014 CRV was not cooling properly. I found out the compresser was damaged and a new one needed to be installed. It would take a couple days for the part to come in and be installed. I was given a loaner car to drive until my vehicle was fixed. The vehicle was fixed in a couple days. The bill was more than I anticipated, so I asked to talk to the service manager. We were able to work out a compromise that was fair and I paid the bill.

We had bought our 2010 from a dealer where we lived and when we moved near Athens we started going to Phil Hughes Honda for service, very happy. Then we test drove a CRV and fell in love with it. So we started the process to purchase it. I have to say this experience was the easiest most pleasurable I have ever had in buying a car. The Salesman and credit manager treated us very well and it was like a walk in the park. We have never had such a good experience in buying a car. I blew out a tire on my Honda Civic while on my way from Atlanta to Athens to visit my sister, and had to finish most of the trip using my spare tire. When I got to Athens I went directly to the Honda dealership. I got excellent, super fast service--my sister and I went to lunch and before we were even done eating, Jake called me to say my car was ready to go! He replaced my tire and didn't try to sell me any unnecessary services, which I appreciated.

We have had our 2004 Honda Civic serviced at PHH during it entire lifetime. We've always been very happy with our interactions with the service team. Often you hear about repairs at a dealership being pricey or inflated, but we have never felt overcharged. We especially love the shuttle service available while our car is being repaired. I have complete trust in Sar at Phil Hughes Service. He's very helpful in understanding options and in determine what is a "need" and a "should do when you can" on maintenance. I've also not had any challenges with repairs. When they fix something, it seems to stay fixed. For the most part, pricing is competitive with stand alone service centers, and because they use genuine Honda parts I prefer Phil Hughes Service.

I went in to have my oil changed, and the service rep mentioned that my tires were really worn out with only 16000 miles. He said that he would share this info with Honda Corporate ,and low and behold I got new tires! I just had to pay for the installation, etc... and I am so grateful. Maybe Honda should consider different tires that don't wear out so soon.

I was amazed at how helpful the salesman was in finding me the minivan with all the features I wanted. He made sure I knew about all the new safety equipment that the new cars have. I was extremely satisfied with the price of the car and the ease of financing it. If I don't understand anything I can call him or go to the dealership and have everything explained. Although I told them I have changed engine oil 4 times in last half year, they insisted on doing a test on their own. So I had to bring it back after ~1000 miles to find it out it has indeed been burning engine oil at an unusual high rate. I guess that is fine. But all in all, Bill was courteous and kind. I bought a battery from the parts department for my wife's car a few years back. The battery had a 90 month warranty. 50 months into the warranty the battery totally died. When I called the dealer they claimed that they could not look up my sales record on their computer and that I needed to produce the receipt to get the warranty. So either they have an antiquated computer system, or were just being dishonest to try to deter me from getting the warranty honored. I had the receipt, but had to go out of my way (in a car that needed a jump every time I started it) to get the receipt at my house on the other side of town. The whole process at the dealership took about an hour. It was like they had never done this before and on top of that they weren't very nice and tried to tell me that the battery was fine (which proved untrue, because the new battery totally fixed the problem). Once they finally prorated the battery, they wanted an additional 20 to install it. So I went out in the parking lot in cold weather with my nice work clothes on and did it myself. If I were the manager, I would have warrantied the battery and had one of my mechanics install it while my customer went to grab lunch or something... That would have been good service and really wouldn't have costs the service department more than about 15 minutes for a low end shop helper. Overall bad experience that could have been made a great experience with very little effort on the staffs part.

He kindly listened to my situation, gave me clear directions to the service center, quickly ran a diagnostic on the engine and serviced the car within the hour. I bought my 2002 car from Phil Hughes back in 2005 (Dennis was wonderful). I plan to get more service out of this car. They are honest and courteous. I appreciate their honesty by informing me on what is happening with my car, during the oil change inspection. Sometimes I can't afford to pay for the repair at that time, so I come back at a later date, depends, to get it repaired; depending on the price. All in all they are good people and just trying to make an honest living like myself. I know Honda is an expensive vehicle to keep up, but it is a great car, my accord! I contacted Phil Hughes via Internet on a Thursday morning before they opened, by 10am I had been contacted my Megan, their internet sales person. She sent me a pre approval form to fill out and we set up a time for me to come in that same afternoon. I was initially interested in a slightly used accord, but ended up really liking the new 2016 civics. Dennis was so helpful and kind, and didnt make me feel unappreciated or rushed even though I wasn't buying the most expensive car on the lot. We test drove, made a deal, and did financing, and they cleaned it up and filled it up with gas all within 3 hours. Can't beat that! Jerry in financing was great as well! I'm in my early 20's with limited credit history & credit card debt left from college and they were able to get me financed without making me feel inadequate for my low credit score. They gave me a fair price for my trade in. Dennis called me a few days later just to ask me if I had any questions and to thank me for my business again. I will definitely be back if I'm ever in the business for a new car again!

At my most recent oil change and tire rotation, I was informed that I would need some new tires very soon. My Honda Fit is only two years old, and I had driven only 13,700 miles. I went home and googled my Dunlap tires, and they are supposed to last 6 years or 50,000! I called the service manager to ask him how my tires could have worn out so quickly. He asked me to come in and let him see the tires in person. After taking tread measurements and photos of my tires, he got in touch with Honda. The next day I got a phone call from him saying that the tires would be replaced, and I would only have to pay for the alignment!

Because I had to wait over an hour for my car to have the oil changed, the service manager did not charge me. I brought plenty to do because there's always a wait but that was very nice of him. They may need more technicians who can change oil so it won't be such a long wait.

I bought a pre-owned Honda Civic from Dennis Bence at Phil Hughes Honda in Athens today and I cannot say enough about the positive experience I had. I was attentively listened to, was not pressured, and felt like the staff were attempting to help me as best they could to get the car I wanted at a price I could afford. I would highly recommend this dealership, and am especially grateful to Dennis, who spoke to me kindly and respectfully throughout the entire interaction, and really pulled through for me to get me a great deal on the exact car I wanted. The entire purchasing process was seamless, and having never purchased a car myself before, I am relieved it went so well after the stories I'd heard from others. Jerry Gay from the finance side of things was excellent as well, very kind, positive, easygoing and friendly. I also really appreciated being contacted promptly by email following my interest in cars at this dealership online. I will be having my tires replaced and car serviced on Monday as part of the deal, so I cannot comment just yet on the quality of the work done on the car, but I assume it will be as excellent as the customer service.

When things didn't go "as planned" (which they rarely do in modern day auto service), he apologised and made sure everything was handled! Safety recall repair was completed on my CRV. Although the mail notice from Honda indicated only airbag inflator replacements, the staff completed two additional safety repairs related to the low beam headlight switch and master window switch. The repairs were completed quickly and efficiently. I also liked interacting with the knowledegable and courteous staff.

When I purchased my car I never felt pushed or harassed to purchase. Since buying the car I have received incredible routine service with very little wait time. Before visiting Phil Hughes Honda, I was critical of car dealerships due to past experiences. I decided to try Phil Hughes instead of driving over to one of the Atlanta dealerships, and I'm glad I did. Last year, I helped a family member buy a car at one of the volume dealers in Atlanta -- it took all day and we had to be on guard for the high-pressure sales tactics and scams the whole time, including an attempt to jack up the promised interest rate at the last minute. I'm not sure we ended up getting a good deal, and we came home exhausted. In contrast, my experience at Phil Hughes was easy and great. No pushy salespeople, a clear, well-explained process, and I was in and out in about two hours with a wonderful new Honda Accord at a good price. I've lived in Athens most of my life and always heard good things about Phil Hughes. I'm happy to report they all appear to be true. Dennis Bence particularly was great.

I recently had my 2016 Honda Pilot serviced to add accessories on the vehicle. Phil Hughes Honda in Athens, GA. The service desk was extremely helpful in verifying that all items were in with the Parts Department. My appointment was able to be adjusted when I had some traffic delays for about 45 minutes. The Service Department was still able to work on my Pilot and completed the service within a couple of hours. I was completely satisfied with the excellent work. Outstanding customer service.The waiting area provides WiFi for customers and some light refreshments.Also, the Parts Department is terrific with very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Repair went rapidly; then when I arrived home, discovered that the glove box door had not been attached corretly to the dash pannel. Returned two days later and it was fixed in about five minutes.

I cant say Ive ever looked forward to purchasing a car. New cars are expensive, and the car buying experience harrowing to say the least. Our recent experience with Kevin Christian at Phil Hughes Honda in Athens, Georgia was so unexpectedly amazing, I felt compelled to write this review in hopes that others in a similar situation can benefit from our experience. We live in the Chicago area, and our daughter was graduating from the University of Georgia in May. Since her post-graduation plans were to remain in Athens, we decided to look into buying her a car. She had her heart set on a Honda CR-V, and our preference was to find a local dealer. We were skeptical at first, as we had a connection to a Honda dealer in the Chicago area, and were convinced wed get a better deal here. Wow, were we proven wrong! Ive always consulted Consumer Reports Car Buying service prior to any vehicle purchase. We look for a fair deal, where we feel good about the price, and so does the dealer. We dont shop price if we feel a dealer is bargaining in good faith. After building our desired model on Hondas site, we sent a price inquiry to Phil Hughes Honda. Kevin Christian, the Internet Sales Manager, responded immediately. The price fell right in line with Consumer Reports fair deal range. Satisfied, we did not negotiate any further, thats the first time in 30 years! We wanted a color that was not in stock at the dealership, and Kevin was diligent about tracking down a vehicle in the region. We were headed to Athens for our daughters graduation, and wanted to work out all the details related to the purchase prior to our arrival. Kevins responsiveness and service was so amazing that I cite this experience when I speak publicly about Customer Service. Kevin made sure that EVERYTHING was taken care of when we arrived. He informed us that he would be attending a conference that week, and would be not be at the dealership when we picked up the car. He confirmed that the price he originally quoted is the price we would pay, even though the car had some unexpected extras. Josh and Ryan took care of the transaction, fast, fun and easy. Kevin even stopped by the dealership on his way back from the airport with his wife waiting in the car to say hello and make sure we were satisfied. We are so grateful for Kevins exceptional service, personal commitment and integrity. You wont go wrong connecting with Kevin if you are looking for a car in Athens, GA.

Was a bit disappointed. Drove 45 miles to see something I was surprised to see at a Honda dealership. Of course, we were looking for a super cheap car, and price does make a big difference. The staff was extremely nice, but we were not at all interested in the car they advertised. In our search, that car was by far the worst we saw.

I was being a little difficult, I must admit, on deciding what color to chose and on the purchase price. The financing department worked with me to make the transaction smooth. My family researched the type of car that we wanted online and also determined our price range. After spending a day negotiating via email with another dealer, we decided to also contact Phil Hughes Honda to see whether they could match our other deal. We had some reservations about the other dealers trustworthiness, and wanted to have a back-up plan in place in case that deal fell through. Kevin Christian and Brandon Self of the Internet Sales Department communicated with us via email and gave us an offer. It was not quite as low as the other dealer, so we planned on purchasing from the other dealer. However, when we met the other dealer for our scheduled appointment, he changed the terms of our negotiated deal. We left that dealership feeling very frustrated and called Phil Hughes Honda. Although they were closing in an hour and a half and we were two hours away, they told us to come on. (We ended up taking even longer to get there due to traffic and they stayed very late for us!) The car that we had emailed about earlier that day had already sold, but Sales Representative Andrew Elder offered us six other comparable options and provided information over the phone. When we arrived, he showed us the vehicles and answered our questions. We liked working with Andrew because he listened to what we wanted and then provided us with all of our options. The interaction seemed very genuine and honest. We chose the car that we liked best and drove it away that night. All of our dealings with everyone at Phil Hughes were pleasant. The staff were courteous, respectful and honest. We were quoted a good deal and then Phil Hughes came through, never trying to add any additional costs, etc. We are grateful to the team at Phil Hughes for staying late and felt appreciated as customers. Phil Hughes provided me with a great car, but did not have excellent ratings on their customer service. They were nice enough, but didn't treat the customer as a desired customer. They were not very flexible even with a full cash purchase, and didn't fill the car completely with gas before pulling out of the lot. I had a good experience, but would make my first choice a different dealership.
