I purchased a vehicle from Tonkin Hyundai in Gresham in July 2016. The tires on the $17,000 car they sold me are so BALD (no tread completely FLAT) that I could never get them repaired by a reputable company LEGALLY. They wont even touch them!!! I wish I could post a photo here! I also have mechanical and electrical issues that they "fixed" (after much Drama) but it failed again 1 month later. Apparently they don't warranty their work, They said because "you didn't purchase the extended warranty for MORE MONEY then we cant help you"....after 1 month of vehicle ownership....before my first car payment even! I doubt the car even went through any type of testing before being put out on the lot. I will be following all the avenues available to me for legal recourse! Im not sure selling those tires on that car was legal....but Im going to find out and do what I can to make sure they dont do this to anyone else! I am looking to file complaints with The better business bureau, Oregon Department of Justice consumer fraud complaints department, I will also be contacting an attorney to see what other options I may have available to myself for selling an UNSAFE car. The tires alone are unsafe.

I came in to Ron Tonkin looking at a different car. A used car. Thinking that's all I could afford. After crunching the numbers Jose (the salesmen) was able to find me a brand new car. He was very patient with me in finding a color and acceeries I wanted for my purchase. Everyone who worked at Ron Tonkin was very professional, kind, and helpful. Kevin was very nice, helpful, explained things well. The overall time for completing the paper work is very lengthy, but I have no suggestions on how to shorten it. I very much appreciate Kevin doing all the computer programming & getting me hooked up. Your show room is unimpressive but I understand you are fixing that. We thought we were in the wrong place when we yelled into the lot. Ben in finance was also friendly, very nice & helpful.

Tony did a great job showing us the cars we were interested in and taking enough time to get us the vehicle we wanted. Dean helped us get the financial details worked out in a way that we could afford. The finance dept. got us through the paperwork after closing so we could drive our car home that night.

The salesman worked with me and my budget and, though it was a little more than I wanted to spend, got me a car I love and at a price I am comfortable with. My new car is great, I'm very happy I got the turbo and not the base model Veloster. Really fun car to drive.

Bought a new 2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue from Ron Tonkin Hyundai a few years back, and was on my way to a competing dealership that was advertising a used 2014 Elantra, when I decided to stop by Hyundai to see what they could do for me. Brian and Shun were fantastic! I was able to get such a smokin' deal on a brand new 2016 Hyundai Elantra, the other dealership couldn't even come close. The salesperson told me to take the deal at Tonkin! I. LOVE. my. new. car!

Our experience was excellent. We highly recommend using the virtual deal they offer on their website. It saved a lot of time that would have otherwise been spent at the dealership. I filled out Costco auto program request and was given Preston as my sales person, was quite happy with his service, very friendly and informative. I worked with another Sales 1st time out who was also very helpful. I think his name was Drew, who helped me as Preston was with another customer. Offered me the option to take car home for a day to test drive. That was helpful in my decision to purchase the vehicle.

Jesse Lemon was my sales guy and he was great to deal with, he made sure I got everything I wanted and really worked with me. I felt the show room was very outdated and dirty. I did not feel it was a "Tonkin" dealership based on the condition. Aside from that Jesse was great. I had to schedule a Service appointment a few days after I bought the vehicle due to a phone connectivity issue. The service staff wasn't very friendly or made me feel welcomed. I will most likely find a different shop for service repair.

They did not have the car I wanted , this was frustrating because this was my first ever NEW car purchase and by the time they drove the one I wanted to the dealership the car had 170miles on it , I know very petty but I wanted a NEW car! like NEW! zero or 1 miles. Customer service from my sales man was top notch however after driving the car for more than a month now I still do not have a working navigation system. I don't feel cared for after the sale by the sales manager. I should be getting frequent updates on how they are fixing the issue and I get nothing unless I make a call to them. Call me frustrated

By the time of my visit to Ron Tonkin Hyundai, I had worked with 5 dealers and was renting a car (at my own expense :( ) after my VW Passats' engine failed. I had been directed towards 12 vehicle types, a deal made and retracted due to the salesperson not giving Finance the correct info, was told that if I was married I would "have enough money to have a nice car", that until the VW was repaired the dealership would not discuss a trade, and that to fix the car would cost $7k-$8k or $350-$400 per month in addition to the $225 owed already on the loan. I was discouraged to say the least. My budget was limited to $350-$400 total per month. It was looking like I was going to be in a rental long term and would have to try sell the VW to lower the current loan. On 7/3/15, by chance, I did not have to work at either of my jobs. I went online typed "best dealership in Portland, Or", of course a few came up, but Ron Tonkin Hyundai Gresham was listed first. I was going to give it one last try. I arrived at the dealership at 11:30 am and was met by Tanner. I explained my situation as a "Unique Situation". He said that I had come to the right place, because he dealt with Special Financing and that my "Unique Situation" was not so unique. I did not want to get my hopes up, because I had been dealing with a month of "we can do this". At 3:30 pm, I was driving off the lot in my first brand new car, a payment in my budget and a positive dealership experience. Thank you!!

This experience has been hassle free thus far. I ordered my new 2015 genesis because of the the kind and considerate way I have been treated. I was at numerous dealerships looking and driving the new genesis. This was the only one that I felt comfortable taking my wife to. She was also impressed with Dale and Kevin. I have been back several times and it is always a friendly place even if they are busy. Stop in and have a cup of coffee and you will see what I mean. Our test drives were not rushed and many things were explained by Kevin. I was shopping for a dealership. I already knew which car I wanted. I look forward to dealing with these people. Preston is personable, friendly, and very accommodating. Dale is easy-going and will work harder than any other sales manager to get you the deal you want and deserve. We found a nice used truck online and called on it right away....when we got there to check it out it more than surpassed our expectations....Jenny Dale was very helpful and made sure we enjoyed the process....we had a very comical test drive with her and my husband and I both loved the truck....we returned and started the paperwork and Jenny got us through all that....the whole sales team had very good attitudes and did an amazing job getting us into the truck we wanted....we would definitely go there again!

I recently had my car in for an oil change and regularly scheduled maintenance. During my visit, they found another issue with my vehicle that required it to stay in the shop. I want to say what an OUTSTANDING service team Ron Tonkin Hyundai has. Starting with Kevin, he has incredible customer service skills and is one of the nicest people I know. I have been in several times and each and every time he is accommodating and friendly. One of the technicians stayed late on a Thursday to finish up my car because they knew I had a long way to drive on Friday to go home and had my car done on Friday morning instead of what they thought would be Friday evening before I could get the car. Last but not least, Stella the cashier always has a smile on her face, is kind and doesn't treat you like she's in a hurry to get you away from her window but gets you on the road fast. I just want to commend what a wonderful group of people that are working for at this dealership. I live all the way in Dundee and drive to Gresham just for the service I get at Ron Tonkin Hyundai. I have never been disappointed or dissatisfied. Thank you so much!

Our Sales rep was Alex Kondor and I can't give him enough kudos. I dealt with him via internet and our deal was complete before I even talked to him on the phone. They met the cars.com smartprice and when we arrived we test drove our car and then signed the papers. Totally hassle free and an enjoyable experience. We were looking to tradein our older cars for a new Hyundai Elantra. We had visited one dealership and they could not meet our requirements plus they were "pushy". We went to Ron Tonkin Hyundai because of an ad for a 2012 Elantra Touring car. Bottom line: We had the best car buying experience we have ever had! Tanner, the salesman was terrific - no pressure but just the help we wanted and needed showing us what our options were and answering our questions. He took all the time we needed in our discovery and once we settled on what we decided we wanted (a white 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS), he asked permission (which we thought was so respectful)to see if he could meet our requirements to purchase the car. And in quick order he did meet our requirements. And Marty,the financial specialist, was also terrific - so sincerely upbeat, friendly and respectful and he made this tedious process very easy and understandable. Tanner is our "salesman for life" - we trust and like him that well. He has followed up twice with us in 2 weeks to ensure we are satisfied and enjoying the car, which we are in spades!
