I purchased my first vehicle from Saybrook Ford yesterday, and my experience was amazing. Especially being that ignorant female (let’s be honest here), it is rare for me to leave a dealership without feeling taken advantage of. In my past experience with other dealerships, I typically can’t even put my car into park without being harassed by a pushy salesman. I did not experience that here. I was able to browse on my own and received assistance when I was ready. I worked with Marc who was absolutely fantastic. He was very helpful and respectful. Guy in finance was also great to work with. I felt everyone I dealt with had my best interest in mind. I was even able to drive home my new Ford Edge that same day which I certainly did not expect! I was very pleased with the way I was treated there. I would definitely do business there again in the future. I 100% recommend!!

My wife and I purchased a Ford Escape from Anthony back in 2017, and he was very patient and helpful in explaining the features and functions which were most important to us. Went to Saybrook Ford to test drive and hopefully purchase a 2013 Ford F-150, I was met by Josh a sales associate, who proceeded to show me the truck I was interested in. I was well prepared and had thoroughly researched this vehicle prior to my visit and was well aware of it's fair market value. Josh was very accommodating and certainly did his part to try to make this sale. However it was readily apparent that this vehicle had not been prepped / detailed and should not have been offered for sale. The interior was was badly soiled, wood dust was readily apparent in the cab, minor damage and gray primer paint was visible under the passenger side doors from a prior repair. I still took the truck for a test drive where I noticed a wobble/vibration at highway speeds. Josh (salesman) noticed this as well and advised he would have their service techs attend to this. We got back to the dealership and Josh apologized for the condition of the vehicle, but assured me that it would be cleaned and detailed. I noticed and pointed out to Josh the areas in the interior that were worn beyond normal use and the exterior damage on the passenger side. I also noticed that the tires that were originally on the vehicle in the sale add which also showed decent tread had been replaced with cheap "manager special" tires. The tires that were on the vehicle were Firestone discovery - AT's which are several hundred dollars each. We sat down to negotiate a price, I made an offer that was on the low end of the fair market value . The sales manager appeared offended by this offer and rejected the offer. We could not reach an agreement on the price. I was especially put off by the sales manager who walked by me several times and never introduced himself or even offered a hello. I have bought several vehicles over the past 30 years and can't remember a sales manager not introducing himself to me, that just rubbed me the wrong way. I actually felt bad for the salesman Josh, he was great to work with but in the end the dealership failed him and disappointed me.

The service department is incompetent, one look at the dark and dirty garage tells you all you need to know. You will never see such a dingy service area in any modern dealership. Came in for a tune up, left with a ruined vehicle. Then came the high pressure sales tactics: "if you make the deal TODAY, here's what we'll do for you." Would not give me said deal in writing because "printer not working." Appalling that they would not better remedy the disastrous experience we had. Avoid at all costs

Last vehicle we bought was 20 years ago - I was dreading this. Lauren Schiedel made the experience great. She listened to what we were looking for, was understanding regarding our financial requirements- fulfilled both. Guy did the paperwork, explaining all as he went. We left happy with our decision, comfortable with the choices we made and surprised at how warm and caring the sales staff were. I started researching this car a couple of years ago, kept my eye on the pricing, we did a test drive in November. Christina Mitchell touched base with us a couple of times on if we were still in the market and interested but did so in a friendly, no pressure way. Very, very comfortable with the entire approach and process. When we showed up without an appointment on a Saturday morning in late January- Christine, Lauren and John remembered who we were and what we were interested in, pulled the file and were able to complete the purchase that day. Fantastic people. Honest, no pressure atmosphere.

Their slogan says "where a handshake still counts" I found out today that their word doesn't. I live in Saratoga Springs, NY I found a truck on their website that I was interested in. I made several phone calls and emails back and forth. We worked out a deal, I emailed all paperwork to them and the financing was taken care of also. We agreed a time and day for me to come over and do the trade. I left my house at 5:30 am and made the 4hr. drive. After I got there and spent about an hour and a half the owner explained to me they made a mistake, they thought (after running my VIN number to see all the specs and options on my trade in) that my truck was diesel not gas, and for me to make the trade it would cost me an additional $4500.00. So after cleaning all my belongings out of my truck taking a day off work spending the gas money and driving 4 hours each way there's nothing they would do for me. They didn't even offer to pay for the gas after admitting it was their mistake. Also the liquidation sale price that's listed on the used vehicles on their website has a $3000.00 down payment in the description that's not noticeable until you read everything. I will never go there again and I'll advise anybody I know NOT to do business there.

My husband recently bought a ford transit from this dealership. He told them that he wanted cloth seats, and they assured him that once the van came in, the vinyl could be changed to cloth as an after-market purchase. But guess what? It turned out to be impossible. The owner of the dealership told us that there was no way that could happen, so then we asked if the entire seat could be changed, and we were told that that was also impossible. Apparently, the salesman who made these promises is no longer working there, whether it was a result of his lies to us or some other issue, we do not know. But it was obvious that he made promises that were not ever able to be kept in order to make the sale. So we are stuck with a van that my husband loves, but I cannot sit in it for very long without exacerbating my already tortured back issues. I have trouble believing that a supposedly nice local business which we are trying to support would sell such an expensive vehicle under false pretenses just in the name of making a sale.

My wife and I have been loyal customers of another Ford Dealer much closer to our home since2002. Driving by there I saw the exact vehicle my wife wanted . A 2016 Ford (Base) Explorer, Oxford White. I stopped in quickly advise them that I was just looking. etc. I met John Vigneri,the General Manager. It was a busy Saturday and we started talking. He thoroughly answered some questions I had regarding an extended service plan I had purchased from the other Ford Dealer that was never addressed. We chatted for at least twenty to thirty minutes as I had worked for a similar business and had questions in general. I also met Josh Burke, the Sales Manager and he also was pleasant, courteous and did not try to "hard sell" me etc. After I left there that moment I knew I wanted to purchase the vehicle from them. I subsequently made an appointment with Lauren Schiedel for the following Tuesday. When I arrived I asked if the dealer principal (owner) was available to speak to me.Without hesitation he met with me. I had some general questions about the business environment, and industry changes since I had worked as a Controller/Office Mgr. about fourteen years ago. I then met with Lauren Schiedel internet manager and we proceeded to discuss the vehicle that I wanted for my wife. She was also professional, courteous, knowledgeable and again no "hard sell." I wanted to take my time and she was very patient. Josh the sales manager offered me a very competitive price on the 2016 Explorer and various purchase options. John V. the general manager appraised our 2011 Explorer and offered a very fair trade allowance. I then met with Guy French the F&I Manager. (financing and extended warranty) . What can I say, he is a great Guy ! We discussed financing options based on the purchase price and trade allowance. I knew where I wanted to be payment wise and we finalized the deal !! I felt like I knew these people for years. We came back the following Tuesday and finalized the transaction. Lauren again was very patient and extremely knowledgeable. She helped my wife set up her I phone so she could use it through the vehicle. I also met Christine and Paul while I was first there and they were also very friendly and nice to meet. We drove past two other closer Ford dealerships and Saybrook Ford has a new customer for life ! I would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a new or used vehicle. I also had called the service department prior to purchasing to see how they would handle my questions etc. I spoke to Paul in service and he answered all my questions and I did not feel rushed as most service departments make you feel. I even told him I was not a customer of Saybrook Ford and he treated me as if I was for years. Again extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. My wife could not be any happier with her new 2016 Ford Explorer.

John the general manager was the first person I met at the dealer and was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Guy the finance manager made the experience very easy and helped get me very aggressive financing that other dealers could not. Al located the exact vehicle I was looking for. My wife and I lease our cars every 3 years and we keep the truck for trips to VT and for towing the boat. I did my internet homework, visited a couple of dealers, used some internet programs to pre-negotiate with some dealers, and finally, made contact by email to follow-up and find my final, best price to all local and a few out of state dealers. Summary of my experience: I got old school sell game from one dealer, had to haggle with a few others to get modest discount, and got some good, competitive bids from others. Saybrooks first bid was right where it should have been and their final bid beat the others. We bought a Ford Explorer from Al Depaola. Good guy. Straight shooter. No games. Held vehicle for me over the weekend without a contract or deposit. Got great dealer discount and a great rebate. John, the sales manager, was there to be helpful, not the mystery man in the back room. Also, very fair in taking my trade. By doing the right thing those guys have earned my future business. Thanks to their finance manager Guy who gave sound advice. He listens and does not oversell. This is not a high pressure, fancy showroom, slick highway dealership. It is a great place to buy a car. I would highly recommend you check them out when you are in the market for a car. Simply, and clearly, the best experience Ive had buying a car.

After searching for a small SUV with good gas mileage for six months, a stroke of luck landed us at Saybrook Ford. Michele responded immediately to my email inquiry, and my husband and I stopped by the dealership on our way home from the casino. I had been looking for a certified pre-owned Ford Edge. I told Michele that my first choice had been an Escape, but could not sit comfortably in a 2011 model. Michele had me sit in a 2014 Escape, which has the 10 power driver's seat. After taking the vehicle out for a test drive, I was in love. The entire staff at Saybrook Ford made car buying easy, fast and enjoyable. I have a Ford dealership in my hometown, but I chose to travel 40 minutes to Saybrook Ford because Michele and the rest of the staff was wonderful. I received a good price for my trade-in, and I drove off happily in my beautiful new vehicle. PS- it was my intention to award 5 stars in every category, but my iPad would not cooperate. We had the best car purchasing experience EVER. The used car (Honda) was in mint condition, exactly as advertised. MICHELE, our sales person, is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and didn't waste our time. We were impressed. We have been customers of Saybrook Ford for 10+ years. During that time we purchased eight vehicles--all of which were regularly serviced at that dealership. A few months ago I left Ted Veccharino a message asking for a return call as we wanted to come in to look and probably purchase one (possibly two) new Fords. I even mentioned that we would be happy to work with Maneck as our salesman. I never heard back from Ted and sadly, Maneck never had the opportunity of the sale(s). The service department is good but slow. However, management --Ted Veccharino-- is unacceptable. We are still Ford customers and are using another dealership to purchase new Fords.

Took a month to resolve a tire light issue and sold me a car with bad/ wrong tires and refused to replace them, I noticed 3 weeks after purchase when I got a flat and no spare tire with a vehicle that requires runflats, so I had to pay for a tow, new tire and still have 2 tires on the vehicle that are between 3-4 32nds, it's outrageous that I paid 43,900 for a vehicle with bad tires, shame on me for not noticing ... Finance guy was great, salesman Maneck was great till he sold the car after that he was horrible, no resolution to my tire light, no phone call back for weeks till I spoke to the gm Doug, Doug was helpful in taking care of the light for me however did not care to help with the wrong tires that were worn out on my vehicle...

We stopped by two nights ago to look at a Convertible Mustang displayed prominently by the road. It was around closing time and the salesman invited us to return in the morning after answering quite a few questions. The car had 11k miles on it and was certified preowned. We were told the asking price was $21,557, down from $23,999 as an "Easter Special." We saw the car on the internet at the price quoted to us by the salesman, Upon returning the next day, we took the car for a test drive and decided to buy it. After sitting down with the salesman, he got up to talk to the sales manager, and returned telling us the price he had quoted to us as posted on their web site was incorrect. The car was $23,999. We were dumbfounded. My first thought was this was a high pressure sales gimmick to get us to buy immediately or the price was going up. It took a few minutes for reality to sink in when the sales manager told us he would not sell the car for the advertised price. We would have to pay the $23,999. His excuse was that their printer made a mistake. He told us he would be losing $1100 selling it at the posted price. Last time I did basic addition, 21,557+1100 =22657, so how can he even justify the 23,900 he demanded? This is clearly a dishonest way of doing business. Not only were we going to by the car, but refer family to the dealership. Needless to say, we did not buy the car and are reporting their business practices to the CT Attorney General and perhaps taking legal action. This kind of shady business dealing is what makes people so wary of the car buying process. STAY CLEAR OF SAYBROOK FORD!!!

I went in to look at cars because I was recently hit and my car was totaled, my family has gotten all of their cars from Saybrook ford and we have always been impressed. From their sales to their service they have always taken care of us and anyone we bring to them as referrals. They always have a free loaner or are willing to cart me around if i need to bring our cars in for full day repairs or any time they need to keep the car for more than a few hours. I was not at all happy about buying a car seeing as i only work part time for little over minimum wage, but they were able to get me into a fantastic car at a low cost, and i am proud to say i have the newest car out of all of my friends with car payments and the lowest payment. We worked with Eric who is a new addition to the sales team. Although he is still learning the cars he was eager to help and was willing to learn and ask the other sales members about what he didn't know. I didn't mind working with someone who was new everyone has to learn. And i think it might have just been his newness that caused the Problem with attitude that the previous reviewers were talking about. I ended up with a 2013 Ford Focus Hatchback in red. Even though i am not thrilled with the whole scenario and didn't want a car payment at all, Eric our sales person made me feel a lot better about the car and helped me realize i was making the right choice for me currently and in the future. When i run this car down into the ground in 10 or so years i look forward to coming back again for my next car.

I drove about an about today to see a used car this dealer has in stock. I was met by Eric as I parked my car. I asked about a car I had seen online and he seemed confused. He wasnt aware they had this car in stock. It was parked near the road and easy to see as I pulled in. at first Eric was friendly and went to get the keys to the car. I wanted to look over the car to see if it had any body work. I opened the door and was surprised to hear let me back the car up because if you dent a door its my butt (he didnt use that word). I work around cars and shop for a living and was very careful when opening the door. Not sure how he got this impression. I decided to let it go and thanked him for backing the car up. While looking at the car Eric said in order to test drive the car he would need to get some information. Being in my thirties and having bought many cars before I completely understand this. I went inside and Erics demeanor completely changed. He became very skeptical and almost confrontational about the test drive. It was raining and I thought maybe this was the issue. I have driven this car in the past and only wanted to take a short drive to check the transmission. This car has a known issue with the transmission coming out of 1st,3rd and 5th gear. It can be a very expensive repair. Eric continued to ask if I wanted to buy the car today. I hadnt even had a good chance to look over the car yet. I was honest in saying Im undecided between a few different cars right now. Eric then said they would have to do test drives all day long if they let everyone test drive sports cars. He said normally they would let someone drive this car without a deposit. I was looking at a eleven year old Honda S2000. It was in fair shape, but clearly looked like an eleven year old car. A short drive would not change the value of this car in any way. Eric continued to ask about my trade and tried to go over number without even given me a chance to speak. He made it very clear he was doing me a favor if he let me test drive this car. There was a gentleman sitting across from me and the whole situation started to become very embarrassing. I eventually had to walk out. I was very surprised that a dealership in such a nice area would let an employee at this way. If I saw an employee acting this way I would walk them out to their car and ask them to leave. Your only job as a car sales person is to be polite and provide information. I feel bad writing a review on this dealership based on an experience with only one person, but thats the way it works. I hope someone from this dealership reads this and perhaps provides some additional training to their staff. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone. There are many Ford dealers within 20 miles. I would go elsewhere.

On 9/17/12 my husband and I were just doing a drive-by to see if there was a Ford Edge at Saybrook Ford. Ed happened to be out taking pictures of one to put online, he came up to our vehicle told us to come take a look, next we were out test driving it. Never once during this time did we feel pressured to buy. We had explained we were just looking to get an idea. We had appt at another dealership that afternoon to talk. We were very impressed with his knowledge of this vehicle and all the features it had and explained every single one to us and how they worked. Something we didnt experience with our first visit to the 1st dealership. Nervous as we were about buying and financing a new vehicle they Ed & Leo explained everything in detail and made us feel confident about our decision. What started out as browsing turned into leaving the same day with my dream vehicle. When I have called or emailed Ed to ask questions he has called me back immediately and is always as helpful as he was the day we purchased our vehicle. He made sure to locate the spare key and helped to set up the Satellite Radio. He took his time with me and makes me feel that all my questions are important. I have to say I have never encountered that before elsewhere and I always felt like after the sale no one wanted to be bothered. Not the case at Saybrook Ford. I would absolutely recommend Saybrook Ford to my family and friends and will definitely return to them as a customer in the future. I feel confident that the maintenance and service we will receive will be just as stellar.

I have now purchased two trucks from Ed in the past four years, one in 2008 and one just the other day. Ed remembered exactly what my needs where in a truck and was sure to be sure they haven't changed. He also made sure that I knew all the changes that have been made to the truck and recommend features from there that I would like and one I no longer needed. The one thing that draws me to Ed as my salesperson and one of the reasons I recommend him to friends and family is his no pressure approach. He puts you at ease and just gets it done. This is a smaller dealer that goes the extra mile to ensure you are satisfied. My salesman Ed took a lot of time showing me all the differences between the different trim levels of the Focus that I was interested in. After the purchase, he took much more time than I expected explaining the operation of each of the features of my new Focus, and even programmed the Bluetooth hands free SYNC system to work with my cell phone. There was no pressure, games, or other types of nonsense that I have experienced in the past at some other dealers, and I would highly recommend them.

Once we decided to purchase the vehicle we went down to see, they made it very convenient for us by working it so that we could take our new vehicle home that same day. The whole experience from test-drive through price-quote, paperwork submissions and vehicle detailing took approx. 3 hours. I would definately recommend Saybrook Ford.

The only thing was I had a spray-on bed liner put on and set up a drop off and pickup with Ed and he was going to go over the truck with me in more detail. I received his call that the truck was ready and when I arrived later that evening he was with a customer and was not able to go over the truck with me. He did call later that evening and apologies.

I had a great experience at Saybrook Ford. I purchased a 2012 Ford Explorer two weeks ago. My previous car, (a Jeep Grand Cherokee) needed expensive repairs that I could not see myself paying. It was an older car and I had put quite a bit of money into it in the past. I was not expecting to buy a car that week but really had no choice. I could have gone with a cheaper car or used SUV but I LOVE the explorers and if I was going to buy a car, it was going to be something I could see myself in for years. Saybrook Ford was the first place I looked. Ed was very helpful and knowledgable. I then went to test drive other SUV's at area dealers but my #1 choice was the explorer. Once I let Ed know I wanted an explorer, I owned one the next day! I had the chance to drive it today in snow and ice and it handled beautifully. Overall my experience at Saybrook Ford was very good. I did not feel pressured and my questions were all answered. I could not believe how easy it was to buy a car! A+ for Ed.

Don Metivier spent a considerable amount of time with me to review my options for purchasing within my budget. We test-drove the car. He was helpful and professional. A week later when I made up my mind to further pursue the car of interest, Don Metivier was with another customer, so Donnld Whitmore provided professional services regarding the financing and final purchase of the car. He also explained the features and options of the car and other purchasing options. In the end, I purchased the car, based on both of the their help and ability to get the contract I needed.

I used the Edmond's internet service to get information and solicited contact with a number of dealerships. The next day I received a call from Michelle at Saybrook Ford and without hassle and in less than 24 hours was able to purchase the exact vehicle I wanted, equipped with the options I wanted and established a trade of my existing vehicle at what I considered attractive terms. Micehlle was knowledgable and conscientious. Ted is the owner/manger and in a five minute conversation was able to conclude the transaction in a courteous and professional manner. Leo was in charge of the paperwork and was very knowledgable and efficient in completing that aspect. All in all, it was the easiest and most enjoyable car buying experience I have ever had.

This was the only Ford dealership from the area who really understood what I was looking for ever since my first communication with them. Mr. Sopariwala was not over-bearing; he asked what our goals were with regards to purchasing the new vehicle and showed us trucks that would meet our recreational and financial requirements. I was going back on forth on a Shelby Cobra with Michele via email and phone for about two months, and she was extremely pleasant and responsive, not to mention patient, with me, as I made my decision. We agreed on a very fair price for the vehicle, and Leo handled all the paperwork before I picked the car up, so that my wait was minimal. I took Amtrak up on Saturday morning, and Michele was there waiting for me, to drive me to the dealership, without me even knowing that I was being picked up! Thanks Michele! Overall, a very pleasant purchasing experience. I drove the car home with their dealer plates on it, and they are having the car registered for me and sending the plates by mail. This is the second F150 pick up that I have purchased from Saybrook Ford and their approach has been very professional with no pressure but a great understanding of the product that Ed is selling. I was treated with respect and dignity and never once was pressured into making a deal. The purchase of the truck was very professional and was completely explained as the process proceeded. I look forward to dealing with Ed for future purchases. Other dealers should take a lesson from how he handles his customers. As a businessman, I understand the cost of overhead, and although their dealership building is old, they have maintained it in a very clear and bright manner which shows that you don't have to have a Taj Mahal with all that overhead to serve their clientele. Those facilities don't sell cars. It's the people inside the building and I agree with your philosophy that a "hand shake still counts". I would encourage anyone to go and visit Ed. I purchased a Ford Edge from Saybrook Ford and my salesman Ed Isenberg was great. He was very friendly, not pushy, made sure to show me different models of the car I was interested in and explained what the differences in the models were. When we were going over the sales terms I never felt pressured. I didn't want the colors that they had on stock so he searched and found exactly what I wanted and had the car there within a day or so. When I picked up the car I noticed that there was a minor part missing (cosmetic in nature) and he ordered the part immediately and when it came in he actually came to my house to pick up the car to take it to the service department for me.He has checked in numerous times to make sure everything is good and he also made sure when I picked up the car that I was comfortable in the car before driving off. Made sure I knew how to work everything which was especially good as the last car I purchased new was 16 years ago and technology sure has changed a lot since then! Overall it was a pleasant non-pressured enjoyable experience.

I've been driving a 2005 Audi A6 (had an Allroad before the A6) and was looking for something different and more suited to my passion for bike riding ... and more room all around. I found the 2011 Ford Flex Limited just what I was looking for. I built on online and requested that Saybrook Ford (located in my home town) to contact me. Ed Isenburg called and we set a time to meet. Throughout the entire selection and purchase process, Ed was patient and extraordinarily helpful in guiding me and helping me to find a Flex Limited with all the features I wanted. That attention to detail continues long after the sale.When my wife was ready to trade in her 1995 Camry, I took her to see Ed to check out the new Ford Edge Limited. Once again, Ed was a delight to work with and located that hard-to-find red Edge that my wife wanted. The service department also needs special recognition for prompt and curteous service.I recommend Saybrook Ford, Ford vehicles and Ed Isenburg to my friends and associates. Lastly, I do not miss my Audi or Audi service. Just saying. :)

We were attracted to Saybrook Ford because my dad purchased several Ford cars and trucks from Ed's dad Matt at Simon Ford in Norwich years ago. Ed was very responsive, even over a holiday weekend when the dealership was closed. We went in with the intention of buying a 2011 but were attracted to a very low mileage 2010 put into service just six months before. Quick transaction - the truck was ready with all of the paperwork, etc. complete in about an hour. We were satisfied with the trade-in value for our 2003 Explorer SUV. When we drove away and turned on the radio for the first time, it didn't work. We called Ed and he asked us to return to the dealership. Without question, he replaced the radio with a brand new better featured model. Good first impression.

I rated the overall experience "ok" because his sales manager and the owner were VERY pushy and the owner was quite unprofessional (he suggested that I "train" my first wife so I don't have to have a second and also kept mentioning that my car payment was less than his jetski payment. Thanks, but I DON'T need to know that I'm not as rich as you).

Upon purchasing a used Bmw X5 the owner Ted agreed to supply me with a missing cargo cover. When picking the vehicle up the salesperson Manik gave me an IOU for the missing cover he then told me they were purchasing a cover from a local Bmw dealer and they would have it delivered to me. After many phone calls and 30 days later Manik told me it was going to be another 6 months before I got the cover. I asked to speak to the owner Ted who was very rude and abusive after telling him this is not acceptable and reminding him they gave me an IOU. His reply was dont quote legalitys with him and now I would get nothing. I had no choice but to get DMV involved once I did I had a check in the mail for a USED cargo cover.After 1 week of buying a vehicle that was suppose to be safety checked I Know have to spend over $1,100 on front brakes and a battery. When I read the sales contract I was sold Vin etching that I did not want. I asked for it to be taken off being that they did not etch the windows yet they refused told me they only sell there cars with the vin etching.Very unhappy with this dealership to say the least.

Not a friendly dealership, when you walk in the place the sales person smiles but as you work with them they become rude. When they pull your credit report they started discussing among themselves like you are nobody. The owner, is deameaning and very rude.
