The car buying process is made simple at Smart Toyota due to their staff working in a partnership with me to find what I was looking for. Cody was great as my sales contact, he was able to outline the steps, process, and timing and was readily available to answer my numerous questions. There was no pressure and it truly was an easy process. The dealership is accommodating, clean, well lit, and the customer service is unmatched...we were greeted a the door and did not have to wait long at all to complete the paperwork. Cody was thorough in expelling all of the features of the new 4Runner we purchased. I highly recommend Smart Toyota in Madison if you are looking for a Toyota. They've been a fantastic dealership, and the waiting room for routine services is fantastic. However, the past few visits, I've spent a lot of time in the waiting room for routine services (oil change/tire rotation). The Express actually used to be express about 9-12 months ago. They were great and got you in and out quickly. I'm not sure if they've cut staff or are swamped and don't know how to handle growth, but wait times have increased significantly. I go there in the afternoon, and it's a 1.5 hour wait or more. This happened four times in a row, and I left. They recommended coming back early morning. So I did. Then, they have employee meetings during that time adding to the wait time. It's a little ridiculous to tell a customer it will take 20 minutes and leads to being there 45-60+ minutes. No fault on the mecahnics and service people working on my car. I think management may need to look at staffing and reconsider when they schedule staff meetings.

The service is excellent at Smart Toyota. But the pricing of tires are way to High. 800 dollars for 4 tires is a lot. Tha't's 200 per tire. And the sale was Buy 3 Get one free so that makes the tire cost 266 a piece. Or maybe the mark up was in the tires and the 4th tire was not free after all. Think hard before buying tires from a dealer.

I had an appointment for routine maintenance (which they send a reminder email about). I was greeted right away by the service representative and he was very easy to work with. The service was performed and the rep called me with updates during the service. They gave me a ride home while my car was worked on. The waiting area is great with TV, newspapers, comfortable seating and snacks/drinks available. The whole service department was very friendly and helpful with the appointment. I highly recommend this dealership and their service center.

I had over $3K in mice damage to the interior of my 2013 Prius C and they made sure every thing was restored back to its original state. They even checked all the wiring and air bags to ensure they were working properly. Everything they did was explained to me prior to and after the work. Nice job Smart!

I arranged to have service work done. Drop off went well. Service work was done across the street from main building. I was called and told the work was done and the car could be picked up. I went to dealership several hours later. The cashier desk did not have the paperwork for the service across the street. They called the technician who did not answer. After 30 minutes they learned the tech had left. Some one else had to bring the paperwork over, across the street. The whole process took 45 minutes. The annoying part was the cashier not apologizing and just saying it was not her fault and giving me the reason why the tech had to leave that day and when the person showed up with the paperwork 45 minutes later never apologized for the delay or breakdown on their part. OK, the tech had to leave early. That just means someone else has to get the paperwork to the cashier. They screwed up on that and no one wanted to admit it or apologize. they just kept giving me the excuse rather than the apology. Finally I told them I understood their excuse but was waiting for the apology. The work done was fine. But the pick up process was botched by them and annoying.

My wife worked a night shift at a local hospital and had an oil change scheduled to have done before she drove home another 30 minute drive. Service writer attempted to up sell her on new tires. Which I had warned her they would probably try and do but her tires were fine and could make it through the summer and I would install new ones before winter since I have my own tire changer at home and access to discounted tires through my work. So she told them she did not want tires installed. Well after waiting for several hours for just an oil change it was discovered that the technician had installed new tires on the car. Knowing they had screwed up they offered to take off the tires and reinstall the old ones or they would only charge us for the cost of the tires and no labor. I was not going to make my wife stay there another minute longer than she had to since had already been there 4 hours. So she payed for the tires that were not in our budget and drove home half asleep. If they really wanted to do us a favor they should have fixed her service engine light but they would charge even more for that.

I arrived minutes to 7:15am. I drove straight into the service area, whereafter I was accompanied to the desk, my particulars were looked up in the computer, then I was allowed to initially wait for 5 hours (estimate). I completed 100 questions and answers of my school mock exam (400 more to go), I had popcorn, a doughnut, I was going for more, when I was called after 2.5 hours..the job was done (changed both front complete struts), wheels aligned etc. I got $30 discount on service. I am always satisfied at Smart Toyota, they do a good job. A seasoned mechanic told me to only change one strut, yet Smart motors suggested replacing both, quite logical, I also reasoned, they were never changed, too bad the right front went into a manhole while driving approx 70/80 mph in Greenville MS. It make sense to change both for then, to me, they would have equal strengths, right or wrong?Thank you Smart Team,Gracie

Scott at Smart Motors is my favorite all time sales consultant! I have bought 3 new Highlanders from him after having 2 accidents. He answered my call on his day off and started searching for a new vehicle for me, even if they did not have it on the lot. The price couldn't be better on all of my purchases. Scott Lutzke, Service Advisor at Smart Motors, was truly my saving grace yesterday morning after the lens of my rear light in my new Toyota Highlander busted out while I was backing out of my driveway. Perhaps I failed to use the large screen on my dashboard, directly in front of my face??otherwise noted as the ?back-up camera? which resulted in hitting the garbage can at the end of our driveway. YIKES?not a terrific way to start the day, I must say! Anyway I went to Smart Motors first thing before heading to work with high hopes to get the lens replaced before the end of the day, ?as if nothing ever happened? in the eyes of my husband, that is! There are some things that are best left unshared and this was definitely one of those finer moments! Scott was absolutely fabulous as he knew time was a factor. He took a look at the minor mishap, what it would take to fix it, consulted with the parts area which said they could have the new lens by 7AM the next morning, provided me a quote for the total cost of a new lens/labor, scheduled a time for the replacement of the lens for the following day and had me on my way in less than 15 minutes! Not only was Scott extremely efficient, he was very personable as if I had worked with him for years. Smart Motors, truly never ceases to amaze me, excellent customer service and such a positive fun place every time I walk through the doors. The Toyota Highlander is our 2nd New Vehicle with Smart Motors since 2014 and we have no desire to work with any other dealership!

My 2011 Camry battery needed to be jumped in order for car to start. Drove the car to Smart Motors Express Service. They tested the battery which they had installed just 4-5 months ago and found it to perform subnormal based on its age and replaced it for no cost since it was under warranty. The service technician was very courteous and explained the situtation very clearly. It was replaced without much waiting time.

I was able to book an appointment with Smart Motors on one day's notice to check into a "check engine" problem. Asst. Service Mgr. Vusue Thao clearly stepped me through the process of needing a computer diagnostics check. I was contacted to discuss necessary repair which was performed on the same day. Courtesy shuttle was provided to my office. Courtesy inspection was also performed. Discount coupon off 10% off was added to my invoice w/o my knowledge which was a big plus. Overall very satisfied with my repair experience at Smart Motors of Madison.

Went in to get the passenger air-bag recall completed.That was supposedly taken care of????While taking care of the recall, a supposed courtesy inspection was done on the vehicle-----we were told that we needed our brakes repaired/replaced ASAP---that the front were down to 3mm (needing new rotors & pads) and the rears were down to 1mm (needing new shoes/pads and the drums machined) and that this is considered a "RED" condition---needing immediate attention. Estimate given = $670 - $690.Took the vehicle into our local repair shop about a week later.The front brakes needed replacement (rotors & pads) but the rear brakes were still OVER 50% and in no way needed replacement--just Cleaning, Lubrication & Adjustment---Total cost for all above = $340.55.Our corolla was originally purchased from your dealership but never again.

I liked that he wasn't pushy and gave good answers to all our questions. There was a slight hiccup when I picked up the van (battery died) but he kindly offered to pick up the vehicle from my home and replace the battery if that happened again.

Our sales person, Scott Nelson, was a great help in purchasing our new Avalon. We had picked out a 2015 Limited model but unfortunately because they could not supply it within a week because of a recall on the radar system he went the extra mile to find us a 2016 Limited with the same features that did not have the delivery hold on it and Smart Motors stood behind the commitment and provided it basically at the same price. The only difference was the color of the interior. Scott had the car routed to Smart motors from another dealer and we had it within the original week that had been promised for the 2015. The whole sales experience along with finance and the training was great. In addition we had a few other things done to the car and the Smart detailing department also made this a great experience.

We were very satisfied with the work that was done. It took a little longer than expected but in fixing the leak that we had another one was found and they fixed that at the same time. Parts had to be ordered so that is why the longer time. They kept us informed on a daily basis of the progress on the repairs. When I made my appointment I gave them my name, address and vin#, they were able to look up to see how many recalls were needed to be done. When I arrived to the appointment, they were quick to get my vehicle in, but I had to wait for about 10 minutes while they typed all of the same information in again, when the only other info needed was the odometer reading. Recently the car was hit while parked in front of our home and we took it to Smart Motors. They assess the damage, gave us a loaner and contacted both insurance companies and throughout the process kept us apprised of how "the repairs" was coming along. I brought my 2014 Toyota Tacoma in for a 15,000 mile service. I mentioned to the service person that my truck got scratched in a parking lot by a dog that jumped up with it's muddy paws on my drivers side door (I was not present put the paw prints told the story). They referred me to Peter Graper who handles these types of issues and he said he was sure that they could take care of the scratches. The body shop schedule was full for the day so I made an appointment for the following week. My appointment was yesterday at 12:00 noon. By 12:30 I was back on the road and the scratches were completely buffed out. To top it off, they charged me $0. Thanks Peter!! This is over the top service!

I took my 17 months old Rav4 for 15000 mil maintenance at Smart Toyota Madison where the car was purchased and It turned out to be my worst car maintenance experience in the past 15 years in Madison where I have purchased three new cars. Upon checking in, an "advisor" was assigned to my case. And I have to say he did a very poor job that was not compatible to the name of of Smart Toyota that I trusted for years.First of all, there was a warranty coverage issue. My car was just 17 months old. Yet the brake disc was seriously rusty. Every time I brake, a loud and ugly noise would be produced. The maintenance "advisor" refuse to fix it under warranty, claiming that brakes were wearing components. I tried to explain to him that the car was driven normally, the brake pads were not worn, and the car always stayed in my garage overnights. It was more like a quality problem than a worn issue. The "advisor" just declined. When I asked whether I could talk to the management. He just said no. (Eventually, with the help of the Smart Motor dealer from whom I bought this car, Smart motor did resurface the discs at no cost. However, the noise, though less, is still there.)Secondly, at the time of checking out. I was given no information of what had been done. I did get a sheet saying that a "15000 mile" maintenance was performed with some multi-point inspection done. However, I was given no information about what were actually inspected and what the status of the car was.Third, and the worst as I believe, on the day following the maintenance, I sent an email with above concerns to the "advisor". And I have heard nothing back from him. Not even an acknowledgement. This was no Toyota as I had in mind.

Going to tell them about the friendliest people who helped us buy our RAV4, they were not salespeople they were there to help us. Our salesperson was Clint, the man was awesome. We got to know him and his family, we laughed and talked about everything under the moon. Yah we spent a lot of money getting our new RAV4 but we really had a good time. He showed us all the cars we had talked about then showed us the ones we could handle in our budget. There was never anything said about you should buy this or buy that, it was always what we thought. Clint always was polite and understanding, never pushing us to do something we didn't want to do. We actually picked out our own vehicle, he let me walk around the parking lot and I found the car I liked and then should it to my wife, Diana and she thought it looked great then we showed it to Clint and the got to work on the paperwork and we now have the vehicle we've wanted for a long time. We got the color we wanted, the interior we wanted and we are driving our new RAV4 all over Baraboo showing it off to everyone.If anyone asks me where to buy a vehicle at I'm going to be telling them to go to SMART MOTORS IN MADISON TO BUY IT.I'd like say thank you to Smart Motors for having the people like Clint and ALL the other staff they have there and for making it such a nice experience buying our new RAV4. It's hard to say but they've improved on the experience of buying our new one since we were there buying our first Toyota way back in the very early '90's. While travelling, many lights on my Highlander Hybrid dashboard starting lighting up. We made arrangements to deliver to Smart Toyota and left it. I worked wtih Dave, who communicated every step of the way with me and left me feeling as if I was in control of the situation. It turned out the repair was not as terrible as I imagnined. He suggested that the cracked windshield be replaced while my car was waiting to be picked up, saving me an additional chore.I was very happy working with Dave in the Service Dept. The salesperson that worked with us was just as good. What was even more impressive was the relationship between the staff at the dealership between them and the customer but also amounts to themselves. We never saw (or have seen when we have gone for service), a " sad sack". Purchased Highlander in 2010 and 2011. (The 2010 one was totaled when hit by a drunk driver.) Found Phil Awes to be a competent, friendly and very eager to support my purchase choices. Later my wife bought a Scion with Phil Awes.Dealership overall was very supportive to him and us.As to service, highest quality that I can imagine. Always pleasant service staff. (Smart Toyota must hire nice. And they must hire smart.)The service prices are very high. Be prepared to spend more money once the vehicle is off warranty than you would at a discount wholesaler.A couple of times there have been expensive issues to fix on the Highlander. Ouch. They were the rear window wiper (greater than $600) and driver's side door window up/down (greater than $700). Mostly for parts. What??!!Smart Toyota gets my recommendation for sales and service.

Smart Toyota, especially Bradley Cooper and Jamie Olivera went to Toyota to seek an exception for me to the requirement of the spare tire cable recall. The recall required the spare tire to be removed and placed in the cargo area secured by tie down straps. This made the cargo area useless and prevented lowering the rear seats to increase the cargo area. As I am 70 years old and disabled this recall solution severely limited my ability to travel to visit family and friends as I could not stow all of my oxygen equipment and luggage. Toyota granted a good will exception and replaced the cable assembly and remounted the spare in its proper location at no cost to me for parts or labor. I am grateful to Smart Toyota for making this happen.

I purchased a 2014 Toyota Highlander from Smart Motors, which I found shopping online. Living in a smaller city in Northern Michigan means there are fewer options for buying a used car and typically higher prices. My wife and I spent a month or so looking online and we continually found that the car prices in Wisconsin were better than anywhere else. Initially we ruled them out because we didn't want to drive seven to eight hours, but my wife suggested I check on the cost of shipping. We could have had the car shipped to our city for a decent price, but since we had been planning on visiting Chicago we arranged to have the car shipped there. Smart Motors had one of their drivers, Jim, haul the vehicle on a trailer and delivered it to our hotel. Everything went as planned and the vehicle was as advertised. John Wenning and Chris Karinopoulos were always prompt in returning my text messages or emails. Justin Calvert was efficient in handling my paperwork. I was a little nervous about buying a car without seeing it in person, but the team at Smart Motors made it easy. Obviously, buying a car with only 16,500 miles on it, and a clean Carfax makes it less likely to come with any surprises, but Smart Motors was open and honest with me and I would recommend working with them.

The service was courteous, they fit me in on a moments notice and fixed the problem and checked a few other concerns. They even hunted down people to give me a ball park trade in value of my car and they were not pushy for additional services but answerer my questions thoroughly. I hesitate to give Smart Motors 5 stars for service only because we are not finished with the routine inspection . . . Before we could pick up our vehicle, there was an accident caused by a vehicle from the city street jumping a sidewalk & snowbank causing damage to our car. We have not seen our car since the accident and it is still in the process of repairs that are expected to take 5 weeks. It's tied up w/ insurance companies & "red tape" but, so far (with a loaner vehicle), it seems to be going fine and we've had support from Smart Motors. When the accident is settled & payments completed, then we will get our vehicle. Our vehicle was on the Smart Motor lot and we were not there.

Smart Toyota did a very good job diagnosing a problem with my vehicle, but I was extremely disappointed with their proposal to address the issue.Smart Toyota indicated my vehicle required $3,500 worth of repairs to address the problem. However, when I took my vehicle to another facility for a second opinion, the problem was fixed for $1000.

I've purchased a number of cars in my lifetime, and leased twice, but never enjoyed the experience until buying a car from JD Harwell at Smart Motors. He wasn't condescending, didn't try to small-talk over my questions and concerns, and genuinely listened to what I needed and wanted. I actually found the process fun, which was a great surprise. With JD's help and a lot of online research, I compared options of leasing, buying new and buying used, and came away with a car I love at a price I can afford. I feel I paid a good price, and as importantly, the entire process felt helpful and respectful. Who would think car buying could feel good? And given that I had a poor experience with Smart Motors 15 years ago (and promised myself I'd not work with them again), the fact that this experience happened at all is extraordinary. I'm glad I got over myself and gave their dealership another chance, otherwise I'd not have realized how much has changed. Another dealership I was talking with over the past few weeks had the age-old dynamic of trying to convince me I wanted a car I had no interest in - that its reviews should make me want it. Their sales folks discounted other makes/models and dealerships. I felt talked-down-to, as if I wasn't capable of discerning a real answer from a sales tactic. In contrast, JD patiently answered all my questions, kept in touch with me without overwhelming me, and gave me information as well as time to come to my own conclusions. So I'm telling my friends who aren't fans of car shopping that there is a new generation of car sales folks. They listen to what you need, pay attention to the energy you've already invested in online research, and personalize the process to meet you where you are. Smart Motors clearly has some great salespeople. I highly recommend working with JD Harwell at Smart Toyota in Madison. Best car-buying experience of my life, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

We recently worked with Salesman Jason Hepperly of Smart Motors to buy a used Toyota Rav4 and were incredibly pleased and happy with the sales experience and with our car. Jason is very knowledgeable about all the details of the types of cars we were looking at, and how they compared to others makes and models. He was not pushy but kept in good contact with us. We decided to work with Smart Motors and Jason because as we explained our parameters and what we wanted to accomplish, giving a few different scenarios, Jason never once said "no way, we can't do that" (as we heard from a competitor) but rather, worked to help us get what we wanted. Jason also made sure we had proper winter floor mats, appreciate this. When we picked up the car, we were given a detailed walk-through of all the different gadgets and operations of the car - sorry I don't recall the gentleman's name who did this - but he was thorough and made sure we knew how to work everything, noting the differences from our last car, before we drove away. Lastly, the waiting area for when car is serviced is super - comfy chairs, a couple of TVs, variety of free coffees, sodas, water, warm cookies, wifi. customer appreciation is clearly a priority. Thank you Jason and Smart Motors!!!

After calling in with my car problem, the friendly person that answered the service dept phone, suggested that I just go to the Quick Service dept - where you don't need an appt. I did that, was greeted within seconds of pulling up. As they said it would be, my car was fixed and I was on my way in less than an hour. During that hour that I was in the waiting room, the service writer came to let me know what they found and gave me an estimate on cost and time to fix my car... While waiting I enjoyed a Latte and cookies from their well stocked waiting room snack bar!!

My wife & I were recently in the market to purchase a 2015 Corolla. We received low price quotes from 2 Northern Illinois dealerships. We wanted to purchase the car from a dealerships closer to home. We sent these quotes to 3 Southern Wisconsin dealerships. Within an hour of receiving the quote, Michael Householder sent us a similar low priced quote (the Smart quote included floor mats that the other quote did not). The other Wisconsin dealerships did not come close to matching the quote from Michael. The next business day, we met with Michael & purchased the car at the price he quoted us. My Wife and I bought a new Venza with the help of Samantha McSherry. Sam made the buying experience easy and seamless with our trade in. She was great to work with and wasn't like other sales people we've dealt with at other dealerships in terms of being pushy or over the top to get a sale. Sam also introduced us to Joanna Handler who helped us get familiar with the Venza and all it has to offer. The Venza drives great and has plenty of room for all four of us when we go anywhere. The AWD system has been great so far on the snow and slippery surfaces. After purchasing our new Venza, going to Smart Toyota was a great choice. The whole process of buying the Venza was nice and easy and no one made us feel uncomfortable. Everyone we talked to made sure we were happy and that if we ever needed anything after the purchase that they were willing to accomodate us any way. The building was very impressive in size but easy to get around and find the great waiting area that truly provides a stress free feeling. We bought a used minivan. Happy with the van, not so much with the service. Salesman was your typical pushy used car salesman. The minivan was on their lot for two months. Both the exterior and interior were very dirty. Part of the deal was to have it cleaned. They did a terrible job cleaning, I think my six year old could have done a better job. My fault for not inspecting it closer, but I thought I was dealing with professionals. One bright spot was the Finance department.

I took my RAV 4 to Smart Motors recently for two separate jobs. I asked for detailing, a service that is offered to new car owners on the one year anniversary of their purchase. The technicians performed great work and brought the vehicle back to a new-car look. Both the inside and the outside of the vehicle were addressed. Although there was a fee for this work, I felt I received what I paid for that day. The oil change was simply done.

We have always been very happy with the service received on our 2012 Toyota Prius. However, this time (the 35,000 mile check up) was not a good one. We were told it would take 1 hour for the check up. At the 50 minute mark we noticed our car still in the repair area, but up against a wall. That told us it hadn't been started or it was done. Waited 20 more minutes without any communication from anyone. Went to the gentleman we had been dealing with and he told us there was recommendation for new tires and new wiper blades, but that the work had been done. He told us "the work" consisted of tire rotation - that was the 35,000 mile check. Couldn't believe it had taken all that time for a tire rotation. Plus the fact it had been sitting there for at least 20 minutes after that part was done - waiting for him to contact us re. the tire/blade issue. The car was finally available after 1 hour, 20 minutes. Feel that is way too long for the work that was done - and it was probably done way before that, but we waited an extra long time for the representative to get to us. He did apologize for the long time to his benefit, but I was amazed at the experience based on all of our previous work done.

I recently took my Prius to Smart Motors to replace the headlights. When Scott, the tech, got into the job, he found a factory announcement stating when two headlights burn out at the same time, there might be a bigger problem. As a result, the service department had to order additional parts and do a more major repair. I was given a new car to use as a loaner--even though the project took a second day to get the parts. The best part was that my car had 30 miles still on the warranty. There was zero cost for me. I felt the service tech went out of his way to give me the best service.

My daughter goes to UW and we needed work done on her 2005 scion XB. The young lady who booked the appointment was both knowledgeable and very friendly (even early on a Saturday morning). The service Manager (Jason?) kept me up to date on the repairs as well as keeping the cost down as we are getting ready to sell the car. They even provide shuttle service back to campus! New to town and I took my Toyota to the nearest dealer. $125/ hour and a new standard car battery later I'm $376 lighter in the wallet. I'd gladly exchange a good old fashioned car garage with its smells, grease and oily floors for a fair price. I'll be looking elsewhere.

We used the night drop box on a Sunday evening but I came in before hand on Friday to find out where and how. The service dept was very helpful and showed me where to park. On Monday we expected the car to be there for several hours but they called us at 9:30 and said it was done and washed. Pick up at 3 p.m. was quick and out we went

Went to Smart for a routine oil change and after 1 1/2 hours, I found my service person talking with a group of other service people and when I asked how much longer, he replied that he was working up an estimate for all the repairs my car needed and got back logged. I understand that my car may need repairs, but not waiting that long. Next time get me out of there and contact me with estimate! I missed picking up my child because of Smart....not smart on my part!

Just bought a New Rav 4 from Chad Nettesheim. Traded in an Equinox. Told Chad what we wanted for ours and within a half hour we had a deal. Smart motors has an awesome break room in fact you forget you are at a car dealer. After going in for a routine oil change and tire rotation, I was told that my front breaks were in the red (needing to be replaced right away) and should schedule an appointment (quoted at $300 for the job). They pushed for the following day although it didn't work for me, so I scheduled it for two days out. After some deliberating, I decided to get a second opinion as I didn't hear nor feel anything from my breaks that indicated needing repair. After taking it to another facility, they told me that I did not need to have my breaks replaced. In fact, I could have been in the YELLOW and I could have waited for a while. It wasn't as urgent as they SMART Motors Service Dept was explaining to me. Needless to say I have definitely lost trust and honesty in the service department. I certainly don't want to feel like I've been taken advantage of. I will share this information with my dealer and have kept my breaks to eventually show to them as well. If anything, ask to see your breaks before allowing someone to take you for $300 ride. As a side, I gave all stars for the quality of repairs for my oil change and tire rotation because I'm assuming they did that correctly.

I was traveling and had gone to a Minneapolis Toyota dealer for routine service. It took a long time to arrange to get in. I was charged twice the amount that Smart charges for that service. In addition, I was told that the brakes on my 2005 Toyota Prius (237,000 miles) needed new pads and rotors at a cost of about $1200 for the rear brakes. I elected to return to Madison and take it to Smart motors. I was to leave for a trip to Maryland at noon the next day, so I just showed up at Smart Motors at 4:00 PM to ask for an opinion on what needed to be done. Asst. Service Manager Vusue Thao immediately checked me in and said that he would have someone look at the brakes by the next morning and that they could be repaired in time to get me out of town in time, if repairs were necessary. The next morning, he informed me that the brakes might need repair in 10,000 miles, but do not need them now. He indicated that both front and back brakes should be repaired at that time (the rotors are rusted), and that the cost for both front and back brakes would be about 2/3 of the cost that rear brake replacement was quoted in Minneapolis. He provided an itemized estimate. I will have the brakes repaired at Smart when their mechanics indicate it is time, when they inspect my car during routine service in coming months. Mr. Thao's service, and that of the mechanics, wERE exemplary and rapid and courteous. I would recommend him and Smart Motors to anyone.

Can't say enough good about Smart Motors. I purchased a new 2012 Prius from them almost 2 years ago. My salesman was very knowledgable and pleasant to deal with. I felt he listened to what I wanted and needed and helped me make the decision on which car would be best for me. After the sale, when I had questions about details of some of the settings, I would just drop in and ask about it - was always welcomed and my questions would be answered in minutes. The routine service experience has also been great - I almost wish I needed to go into Smart more often - the people in the service department are helpful and pleasant to deal with -- and the waiting area is very nice with a good coffee machine and cookies!!

Up until six months ago I lived 90 miles from Madison, but I made it a point to bring in my RAV4 for service to Smart Motors in Madison, Wisconsin. The service personnel have always been extremely courteous and helpful. As a senior, and as a woman, I certainly appreciate their honesty and integrity. My vehicle is serviced, and occasionally fixed in the promised time with no problems whatsoever. If any problem shows up as the vehicle is serviced, I am told about it and it's fully explained. The waiting room and bathroom are always clean and in excellent condition. The fresh baked cookies and other products offered are much appreciated. I can't ask for a better company no matter where I live! I will continue to bring in my vehicle for service and will certainly purchase my next car from Smart Motors.

This was the first new car that I have ever bought and I have heard horror stories about buying a new car. I was a little nervous so I brought my brother with me and together we agreed that this was the best car dealership that either one of us had ever been to. I have been a service customer of Smart Toyota for 10 years and have consistently been satisfied with quality of repairs and customer service. However, for the most recent repair need I had I was dissapponted in both. The problem was misdiagnosed and phone messages were not returned. I had appointments at 8:45 a.m. but the work was not done by 5:00 p.m. and I was provided no status update. Voicemails I left were not listened to (per the supervisor) and the recpetionist did not seem to want to walk around to find the supervisor when I asked for an update. To their credit, the work done that was unnecessary was not charged to me.

Maybe 17 years ago or so, I was shopping for a smaller wagon. Called Smart & was treated very poorly; vowed never to return. But when the Prius came out, and I needed a new car, I tried again: it was a totally different story! The sales experience was excellent; I was so impressed with the treatment I received. I also take my Prius to Smart for all my maintenance. Booking appointments is very easy & the variety of hours is greatly appreciated as I have a difficult schedule. The mechanics are always willing to explain what work is being done & why. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else.

Doug Peitz was wonderful to work with and partnered with mefirst-timer leaserto understand the process. He listened to what I needed in a car, and put together a deal that worked within my budget. A year has passed, and I have had nothing but exceptional service. When I have questions, I call Gary Frederick who has always super helpful and gets back to me right away. I have to mention that my encounter with the finance person was the only sour note: I found him to be condescending, (especially when I declined his offer of extra insurance). I took the car in to get it detailed last week and Paul K. (not sure of his last name but I believe he is a Mgr. in Service area) was also terrific. He was very polite and went out of his way to create a positive customer experience. Note" The waiting area is a self-serve buffet with an endless supply of hot cookies (baked on premises), fresh fruit and other healthy snacks and beverages, as well as several large-screen TVs, so it feels more like a hotel lobby than an auto dealer. Great experience!

Unfortunately my RAV4, has needed Body Shop attention twice this year. Both times I took my car to Ball Body Shop, the Smart Toyota facility, and both times I was impressed. As a pre-approved facility for many insurance companies, the process was smooth and seamless. I was given a loaner, which was waiting for me when I arrived. The work was done quickly and expertly and my car was ready as promised, freshly washed and vacuumed. They even washed the floor mats, a pleasant surprise after a long and miserable winter.

Both the purchasing of my new vehicle at Smart Motors and the required maintenance that I have completed at Smart Motors in Madison, WI have been excellent experiences. This is the seventh new car that I have purchased in my lifetime and the first from this dealer so I feel that I have some history for valid comparisons with previous car dealers. Naturally there have always been several customers at the same time that I have been at Smart Motors, but each representative I have worked with has a knack of making you feel you are the only one, or the most important person there. The representatives actively listen and respond to any questions. When I purchased my Prius, it was my first hybrid and the representative (Bob) explained their cars in a very informative way and there was never a condescending tone to any answer for even the most naive question I had asked. And i had many that would have tried the patience of most! When servicing my vehicle for its routine maintenance it was the same superior customer service of listening and responding. I have also found, the work performed has always been under the estimated waiting time that I have been given upon my arrival. The service waiting area is beyond any that I have experienced. Two days of the week you can make free massage or free manicure appointments to have completed while you wait for your vehicle to be serviced. The spacious waiting area's refrigerator is widely stocked with every kind of soda, water, juices, milk and yogart, and I believe ice cream treats as well. There is fresh popcorn, warmed cookies and pastries, cereal, snack mix, and a wide variety of fruit. There are several copies of the day's newspapers and multiple TV's to watch while you are waiting. However, having been spoiled with the main service waiting area's TV's, the newly opened express waiting area, although it has the same food options, it was disappointing the TV's are not hooked to a news channel. This was especially disappointing the day I came in for routine service on my vehicle and there was a major national event happening. The channels available were HGTV, ESPN and one other that was not a news channel. Having just stopped in the main waiting area before going to the express waiting area I knew the national news was on those TV's. The express waiting area receptionist kindly confirmed the express area was not hooked up to receive a national news channel. I was able to get the information I was seeking, however, on my iPhone but it would have been far better to have watched the breaking national news coverage on TV. In spite of this, and all the perks of the waiting areas, what truly will bring me back and keep me with this dealer are the highly knowledgeable and professional sales and service staff. They are a cult of just nice, caring individuals that are truly provide one of a kind customer service! It is obvious they want to sincerely ensure you have a great car buying and servicing experience!

We reserved a vehicle with another Toyota dealer thinking we were getting the best deal. We had to wait for it due to the seat warmer replacement episode on our vehicle. The dealer told us it would just take two weeks and that turned out to two months and they were not sure if our vehicle was ready for delivery yet. Their explanation was that they were in the process of changing owners so it was a mix up in the obtaining of parts to repair our vehicle. Apparently we were not important enough for them to remedy our situation so thus our long wait. So, we called Smart Toyota out of the blue to see if they could match our deal. Smart asked us to come to their dealership to look at our trade-in to see if it would be worth what was quoted in the original deal. Normally we would not make a long drive as we live two hours away but what the heck the first dealer was in the same town and if it didn't work out at least we would get to look at the vehicle we had reserved. Long story short we were blown away with the new offer Smart give us. They matched the selling price and gave us more money for our trade-in. To top it off they had our vehicle within the week. Greg was excellent to deal with no hassle or pushy at all. I will recommend Smart Toyota to all my friends and family members because it was worth the drive to their dealership.

I've taken my 2007 RAV4 since I purchased it new which has always been a pleasant experience. So far, there haven't been any major repairs, just the routine maintenance. The service advisors are friendly, welcome questions, and the pop-in express service works well for my irregular schedule. I do price comparisons sometimes and the fees are pretty comparable. On my recommendation several friends have switched to Smart and everyone has been well satisfied.

My family has purchased three cars (Priuses) at Smart. On each occasion, the price, selection, and dealer assistance was excellent. Our service experience has been just as high quality. The salespeople were professional, helpful, and thorough. The service department is a model of quality and efficiency. Visiting some dealer service departments is no more pleasant than visiting a dentist, without anesthesia. A visit to Smart for service is a pleasure. The service associates are thorough, prompt, and provide clear explanations of work needed and performed. The customer service area is comfortable and pleasant. I recently watched the second half of a Wisconsin basketball game in the customer area while waiting for service to be completed on my car. It was as comfortable as being at home, and the cookies were better. The attention to customer-comfort-detail speaks volumes about Smart's dedication to gaining and keeping the business of their customers. Smart is the best auto dealership I have ever dealt with. Hands down.

I decided to purchase my new car from Smart Motors because I have consistently received excellent service when I needed to bring my vehicle in for maintenance or repair. I also like the fact that the mpg I get with the Prius is incredible. The mpg advertised is the actual mpg I am able to achieve. I truly did not think about switching to a different dealer or to a different car.

I was recently quoted a $700 repair from SmartMotors. However, my car is not very old and I was skeptical. I asked another mechanic for a second opinion. He told me that the repair was not necessary and that he wouldn't do the repair if he were driving my car. I have taken my vehicle to SmartMotors since I purchased it there in 2007. I have spent too much money, repairing what they claimed needed to be repaired. I have no idea how much money I have lost by trusting this shop. I will not be going back. The facilities are wonderful. But they charge you a lot of money in order to pay for the facilities.

I had the best salesman, JD, helping me the whole time. He took time to look up information for me and to help answer all my many questions I had, both about the car and the potential add ons I was looking for. In the end I got the car I wanted with the add ons I wanted at a decent price. The waiting area was very nice-snacks, beverages, magazines and TV all for free. I was there on a Tuesday, so was able to take advantage of their free chair massages while I waited. The only "complaint" I have is how long the whole process took from start to finish. I had anticipated being out of the dealership by early afternoon and ended up leaving early evening instead. I know they had to do a couple things to my car and that it was a busy day, so I was understanding in the long run.

My driver side internal door handle broke, leaving me no choice but to open the window to open the door. I called Tony, a service representative at Smart Motor, and got a quote and an appointment for the next day (as I recall). When I came in for service, I was welcomed cheerfully, and spent some time in the very comfortable waiting room reading a book, drinking mocha coffee, and eating a cookie (the last two items were complimentary). Surprisingly soon, the work was done, and Tony explained the repair performed and the final bill (which matched the quote when I came in). I paid and drove off in my newly-washed car (also complimentary). Very professional service and superb work. Thank you so much.

I will preface this by saying that I am a post college graduate, entering the professional world, and this is the first car purchase that I've made on my own without my parents. It was intimidating and overwhelming information that was given, but any car transaction is bound to be like this. I work in retail myself; I know what this field is like, and I also know the rules that we play by and retail. I was treated respectfully and professionally. I was assisted by JD; knowledgeable and humorous, all of which was accommodative. Joanna was also assisting me; exceptional in the details of the vehicle and how to personalize the experience. Although negotiations were favorable, this business was respectful and still benefited from my business. The facilities were nice, and had a lot of amenities. I never felt like I was claustrophobic, nor did I feel like I was looking at too much. Everything had its place, and everyone had room to move about and still find what they were looking for. The staff there that did not directly assist me were very nice, and very helpful. Everyone had a smile, and I know that long days at any place of retail can be exceptionally long. Overall, I hope this survey communicates my satisfaction. One thing I would gently recommend would be providing an itemized list to the customer of the accessories they have chosen; I had to ask multiple times for such an item.

Service was excellent...but the car was NOT left in the usual clean condition. There were very visible tread marks from the technician's shoes left on the threshold of both the driver and passenger side of the car as well as on the interior floor mats. When we returned to point this out,the employee that we talked with made excuses absolving themselves of any blame and was quite reluctant to clean up the mess until we said we'd take our car to the main part of the dealership. Then he grudgingly cleaned the thresholds. This was not what we have become accustomed to from Smart Motors!

We had been looking for a new car for about a year. I think we tried every type of car there is but being twins we needed a car my twin sister (has RA & other health issues) could get in and out of easily, with hand grabs above the doors, and seats that could be lowered for her to rest if needed. We explained to Samantha Bowen what we needed, price range etc. She understood what we needed, did all the paper work etc. we drove home with the our new car that day. We had driven to the dealership with a Toyota that was almost 15 years which we will continue to keep since it has cost us very little in repairs. No pressure just a wonderfull experience so we will continue to do business with Smart Motors. My twin named the new car Angel Thank you once again Samantha!

My service rep advised me that the rear brake linings were thin and asked if they should replace them for me. I declined and said I would have them done with my next lub job. Then another service rep told me even though the rear brakes show wear they may not need replacing for some time because of limited use. Who do I believe?

My fiance and I recently purchased a used Nissan Maxima from Smart Motors. After two months the cars electronics went crazy, and while she was driving no less. We called smart motors and were told to bring the car in. They replaced an oxygen sensor and told us that had been the problem but it was now good to go. 4 months later it happened again. We had our local mechanic look at it an he told us that the car has not 1 but 2 oxygen sensors and that in addition to them both being replaced, that an ECU board would need to be reprogrammed. The catch was that only a Nissan dealership could do that. We contacted smart motors to see if they would back up their work. The woman on the phone explained that there was no record of the original work that hey did as they do not record that unless the customer pays for it. We were told (at 8:30am) that the sales staff didn't show up till about 9am or 9:30, but she would have them contact us. At 9:15, a sales manager called us back and told us that they are a Toyota dealership and not only would thy not service the vehicle, but they wouldn't assist in the cost of replacing the o2 sensors or the reprogramming at a Nissan dealership. Long story short, they will sell you the car knowing there is an issue (took about 5 minutes on google based on the advise of our local mechanic), but don't expect them to stand behind the car they sold you. In my advise, buying a car from smart motors is not that smart. Not that smart at all. We will have to eat the cost of the repair, however I hope that many people read this and go elsewhere for their used car purchase. Don't let our headache become yours!!

this was my 2nd regular maintenance check-up on my 2012 carolla. all the employees who talked with me were very nice & friendly. your waiting lounge is "state of the art". i had a free lunch there. my car was maintainenced in about an hour & a half. my free car wash was great also. i think smart motors really take care of their customers in an excellant manner.

WATCH OUT when you try buy from these guys. You need to know the value of your trade, you will get LOW BALLED badly. Valued my trade at more than $3000 less than it was worth. Gave some very doubtful reasons for the value. I will NEVER buy a vehicle from them. This is not the first time this has happened at this dealership. Just another example of why people don't like to deal with car dealerships. Something should be done to dealers who employ these kinds of business practices, but it seems like nothing is ever done. Speak with your $ and don't patronize this dealership. PS. I have purchased over 25 cars in my lifetime.

As background information, I've always hated the car-buying process. But..have now had two very positive experiences with Smart Motors. The first of these was in 2008 when I purchased a new Corolla S from Andy Kaiser at Smart. There was no pressure and I got a decent price. Last month, after totaling a car in an accident, I called Smart to let Andy know I'd be coming in to test-drive a RAV4. Although Andy was off that day, he returned my call and arranged for another salesperson (Clint) to work with me. Again, no pressure and great service. I took the RAV4 home the same day.

Had been to at least 6 other dealers and looked at numerous prices and options online... Wasn't set on any particular vehicle... But knew which ones interested me at smart toyota. Got there, looked at the vehicles, and went in to ask to test drive. Was a simple process, not the typical - "oh let's sit down and chat first". Started the sale process once we got back from the test drive.. Though it was not my salesman that pressured me, he offered to look at other vehicles. Had my car the next day. My salesman Joe was exceptional, very laid back and to the point. Not the typical "song & dance"... Very happy so far.

Had never purchased a vehicle sight unseen online before and was apprehensive. However, we found this vehicle in WI and started the buying process. Everyone that I encountered via phone at the dealership was very friendly, extremely helpful and worked with us on price negotiations. When I arrived in Madison, I was picked up by one of the sales team and driven to the dealership and the entire process took less than 1.5 hours. I was on my way home with an incredible vehicle in no time.

I brought in car for repair that we purchased there new, and was told the 2009 Camry needed an engine! After much hassle and aggrevation we ended up buying a used non-toyota instead. But after asking to see the damage they were talking about there was none! The engine didn't need to be replaced as they claimed, and could have been fixed for a much less expensive repair. Very upset they would lie about repairs and why? Just to sell a more expensive repair than really needed or to try to push me to buy something else? Through the entire experience (which took them a month to work out) I had to call them most of the time to find out what was going on, and have been treated with disrespect and no concern for customer retention. They have an air of self importance and have given me the impression that they sell so many cars I do not matter, if I am upset or feel I am not getting a fair deal they do not care, as long as they still make a profit on something in the end. Every visit I made there to try to work out the problem, even for what should be simple paperwork, was at least an hour and a half visit! On one occasion when they knew I was coming to look at cars they didn't even know where they were located, we needed to drive to another car lot to find some and also found out they sold one we were looking at! Very horrible service and will NEVER go there again, and would never recommend them for any service.
