I've never bought a car from a dealership before and, to be honest, I was very hesitant to even try. I've heard all sorts of horror stories but I needed a new vehicle and made myself an appointment with Mercedes Ramirez to inquire about a Civic I saw online. Right from the beginning she was incredibly nice (and not that "fake salesperson nice" we all come to expect from salespeople) then answered every single question I had clearly and politely. I asked a lot of them, I swear. The entire experience was wonderful. Not once did I feel any sort of pressure or that I was being lead on in any decision I was making. It was great, I ended up buying the Civic that night and I am so glad I did. I love my new car! I wholeheartedly recommend Sunset Honda. Thank you!

She was very knowledgeable about the Honda range of vehicles and showed us all the features of the vehicle. I was there last weekend and as soon as we walked in Lalo approached us and helped us out. He showed us all trims of the vehicle we were looking for and answered all our questions very patiently and thoroughly. We went for a test drive and looked at numbers. Our relationship with Sunset Honda began with an internet query. We had a somewhat of a narrow range of needs for my brides next vehicle. Kelsie Quintanar and Ken Janes replied via email and voicemail very quickly to set up an appointment later the same day. We arrived and were immediately greeted by Gil Stiles who went to find Ken. We met Ken and took note of his pleasant demeanor and smile that appeared to be genuine, a trait not frequently found in car sales. Ken went out and brought the car to us. He opened the doors, hood and lit up the interior for us to examine, then stood aside ready to answer questions. You know what lots of questions about features, options, mechanical etcetera; and he answered almost all of them without batting an eye. The questions he didnt know the answer to he promptly admitted he didnt have an answer, rather than try to fabricate something that might not be true, and told us he would find out. The test drive was enlightening and lots more question flowed. Back at the dealership, I asked my bride if This was the One, she said yes. Ken provided us with some refreshing water and we sat down to discuss the monetary aspects of the transaction. They presented a number, we countered, accepted done. We went over the sales paperwork and Ken passed us over to John Harris for the financials. John expressed the same kind of Demeanor and smile as Ken. We went over every number and option on all these documents one at a time until we were satisfied everything was correct. Signed on the dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted, dotted lines and we were done. It was after 9pm and they waited to get this transaction done, even though they close at 7pm. All in all the buying experience was practically perfect in every way. I anticipate the delivery process will be the same. My bride cant wait to pick up her new CR-V in two days. But she is a bit torn, her Beetle has sentimental value. Our new Honda CR-V touring is also practically perfect in every way. It has room to move, more features than you can shake a stick at, rides smooth and comfortable, fuel efficient but has enough power, looks amazing. Beats the Equinox, Encore, Patriot, Journey and even the Rav4 to smithereens, thank you Sunset Honda Team!!

Ok three Honda's purchased from Sunset in one year. We bought a 2014 earlier this year for my youngest daughter and that experience was awesome as was the two previous purchases, well, we're back.Sunset is doing all the right things.My nephew from Santa Barbara needed a car while still attending College. So off to the car lots we go! After visiting several dealers in the SLO area and one in Paso Robles we headed over to Sunset and we got treated fairly and professionally. went to dealership to possibly think about a different type of car then what we were used to, salesman greeted us and took us to look at a possible alternative, thanked him, took his card, he took both our names and numbers, and would get back to us in a couple of days, when i got home i decided to check out the costco auto program, entered everything and it show'd sunset honda as the local costco pricing dealership, within minutes, we rec'd emails and phone calls from 3 different salespeople claiming they were the costco pricing person at sunset. we just randomly picked one of the names, called him, he gave us a price of 950. over dealer invoice and also promised to call us in a couple of days.. i decided to call santa maria honda and gardena honda(gardena was a dealership i have been dealing with since living down in so ca)l, anyway sm honda gave us 200.00 over invoice, and gardena said right at invoice. my wife went back to sunset just to test drive the car, and the original salesman did not even know who she was, also the salesman who was the supposed costco person to this day has yet to call me back and it has been over a week. moral of the story, to be a good salesperson remember who your customers are and what you promised to do, otherwise.......who is sunset honda, i don't remember talking to them.

Came into SH just to browse and maybe get a few prices. It didn't take long before We found a car that we really liked. Ken Janes was there every step of the way and took excellent care of us. It's nice to have a dealer that you can feel that you're working together for the same goal - Ken knew we needed a good price that we could afford, and we know that Ken needed to make a paycheck (Hey, San Luis county isn't cheap!) and we were able to figure it out and take care of one another. great dealer, sold me the Honda Odyssey van at an excellent price. I obtained the Consumer Reports values for the van and then priced it online. A dealer in Salinas offered an excellent deal and when I went to Sunset Honda to test drive one of the vans they offered me the same deal, so I bought from Sunset Honda. Great service dept. every time I take it in and they wash and dry it to perfection!

10/28/2012After spending over a week negotiating on the internet and phone with Logan McKinnon, I finally went and bought a Honda Fit. After I drove the car away I found that Logan had misrepresented one of the accessories that I wanted. I notified them that I didn't want the item, but they shipped it anyway 4 days later. Despite 12 attempts to rectify the situation I was forced to resort to threats just to get them to respond. They promised that they would credit me for the mistake, but it's been over a week and still nothing. Expect to be ignored after the sale.Not recommended!

By all means, go to Sunset if you want to be yanked around. I got the classic bait-and-switch today. Had spoken to the internet sales manager over a month ago about buying a new Honda Fit. He told me he could get exactly what I was asking for at a certain price. Today, I called him again and he confirmed his previous info so I went in to make the deal. When I go there, after wasting about an hour of my time, the car I wanted mysteriously wasn't available. Needless to say, other more expensive options were available. Whether this was incompetence or deliberate deception on Sunset's part, I wasted a good part of my day today and have to continue my search for a new car.

This place is terrible. I hope to discourage anyone from taking their car here for service as I had several bad experiences. For one, their rates are astronomical. One regular servicing with oil change and little else was over $400. Another time they quoted me a price that was $100 less than what they charged me, without contacting me about the change. They wouldn't back down when I protested. They installed a timing belt incorrectly so I had to return the next day and have them do it right. I once got a quote of over $200 to replace the buckle of the middle rear seat belt of my Civic. Believe me, I would have gotten it in eBay if it had been available, but it wasn't so Sunset Honda knows they can gouge us! And finally, upon leaving one time the lady at the counter asked me to review them positively when I received an email from them. You've got to be kidding! The positive reviews here sound fake and I hope no one is swayed by them. My experiences at Sunset Honda service have been overwhelmingly bad. Why did I take my car here? Well, I'd had some bad experiences at another garage and thought I'd pay a little more and get the best service for my car. They charge ridiculous rates, are incompetent, and have lousy service. Crooks. Avoid at all costs.

I was in the market for a new car and went with a friend of mine who was buying. I did find a car that I was interested in and when I tried to negotiate the price with Internet price matches and email print outs my integrity was questioned. I did end up purchasing a new car(not Honda) for 500 under sticker out the door with zero down and 0 percent financing. I also did NOT buy local and saved almost 3500 on a new car. I would have loved to buy that car but they did not want to deal and as of Sat 2/26 the car was still there.They did not want to deal.Do your homework.I negotiated my deal by phone for my car that I did buy and spent less than an hour at the dealership but traveled.I told them I would be posting my experience online. My friend who bought her car..... They already messed up on her payments....,Shame on you....Once someone questions my integrity, I won't deal with them. Recently, we purchased a Pre-owned 2009 Nissan Maxima. Our Sales Person was Elise. Elise was patient, knew the absolute ins and outs of the vehicle and made a potentially stressful experience a non issue. The dealership was clean (sales floor) and the mechanic department seemed in good order and also immaculate which shows a lot about how the employees care about what they do. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would recommend buying a vehicle from these people.?
