My vehicle was diagnosed as needing a new vacuum pump and harness. They ordered them and they came in two weeks later. The quote I was given for the vacuum pump, harness and labor was $1200. A week and a half after they got the parts I was called and they told me it was done. I went in expecting to pay $1200 for the parts and labor. I was told the vehicle had not needed a vacuum pump after all -- they needed to replace just the vacuum supply line which cost $43.00. The cost of the repair was just $273.00! I was shocked! This service department has an immense sense of integrity. I know other service departments, after ordering a part that cost $650., would have put the part on the vehicle rather than admit to the owner that there was a misdiagnosis. I have owned a lot of older cars that needed work done in my 50 years of driving and never has a mechanic come back and told me the cost would be less, if there was a difference in price, it was always more than the quote. Thank you for being so honest and trustworthy. This is why I take my VW Beetle to Thompson's VW.
