I give three stars because I had a nice sales person. I also referred someone to buy from him. VA Cars does charge a few thousand more for their vehicles. When I mentioned that Carmax was selling the same base model for $3k less and no accidents, I was told to look at another vehicle. So I did. Same thing. There was a minor accident reported on the Carfax. I bought it anyway because I was in a difficult spot then and had to buy where I could be financed. Make sure you know where the car comes from. VA Cars get most of their late model, low milage vehicles from auctions. As long as the vehicle passes inspection, they do nothing else before putting it on their lot. Auction cars are fine but read the Carfax. If it is a repo, pay attention to how long it took to be bought at auction after it was repossessed. Look the vehicle over thoroughly. The car I bought had all four tires plugged more than 5 places per tire. Also, the battery should have been the original Nissan battery; however, it was a smaller battery that was swollen because it was old. I had to replace the tires and battery because I could not prove they where switched at auction or after VA Cars obtained it. They were not willing to replace the battery or tires. Since the car only had 27k miles at two years old, the original tires should have been on it and the original battery when I bought it. Places like this do take advantage of a customer's situation but so do other businesses. They are no different than Rent-a-Center, payday loans and Titlemax. Just pay it off fast or refi when you can. Keep in mind there are many who do not care to fix their credit and they do not care about price or interest rate. Those are the folks who keep these companies in business. Lesson learned but the next car I bought, was not from there. I was able to get financed at 3.5% on a certified pre-owned vehicle. I worked hard at fixing my credit. It paid off!
