After building over 100 Discovery's, mostly as pre-sales to a buyer's specifications, it fun when we can build one the way we'd like, such as with this truck. We took a traditional approach to most things: a Terrafirma 2" lift, and a Voyager Low Profile roof rack with matching ladder; but we went a little off course with black HSE wheels and a early style OEM brushguard. But the "look" we were after came together when we chose classic Hella driving lights instead of the ubiquitous LED lights. We were lucky to find a super-nice pair of the Hella 300's, the big classic 9"ers with rock guards attached. Loved the "big eyes" look they created nested in the excellent condition, re-powder coated tubular brushguard accented with the hard-to-find headlight wires. We complimented the 300's with a quartet of Hella 500's on the rack, also with branded rock guards. The look is serious, but classical. The Black G4 style hood decal sets off that look further. For convenience and durability, OEM side steps are included. At the back we took a practical bent by installing an indestructible Lucky8 steel bumper with rubber-damped shackles. Taillight guards complete the protection package. Cosmetically we made a few small changes, like doing the front bumper caps in textured matte black to match the rest of the bumper and covering the roof in Raptor urethane liner for a great look as well as outstanding durability. Th windows were tinted as deep as the law allowed. The wheel flares were reconditioned to a like-new appearance. Of course, the mechanical was not neglected: under the hood the engine was refreshed with new head gaskets not long ago, new coils, wires , and plugs were installed, and we made sure all the hoses and coolant system were at peak performance, which I have verified with a personal 500 mile "test drive". Coolant and oil consumption were stable and the engine runs a very comfortable 195-220 degrees at all time. A new front drive shaft was installed and the Center Locking Differential was serviced. New brakes were installed all around, and, of course, only the best in new tires were sourced: BFG KO2's in 32.5" diameter. Inside you'll find excellent condition leather on the front seats and armrests and new actual leather covers for the brake and shifter. We've upgraded the radio to a contemporary Kenwood Media Receiver with full Bluetooth and a terrific output quality which brings alive the Harmon Kardon door speakers. As you see, this is a very desirable 7-passenger variant and we have had the headliner upgraded to Black in our lifetime guaranteed material. Most notably, this is a sunroof-delete truck, which we think is a pretty smart choice given the frequency of leak problems with older sunroofs and their limited utility when you have a roof rack.
