This truck was a terrific candidate for our process of Dat revitalization; "Disco Revival", if you will mainly because it was a lifelong Georgia truck with a history that included a single owner for almost 16 years and great service history at Atlanta's premiere LR Independent service shop, Berar Valley. Not only was the chassis rust-free, but the mid-GA climate preserved the paint condition very well, a rarity on these old trucks. So it was deserving of the best we could give it, most importantly a remanufactured engine featuring "Top Hat" or flanged liners, to eliminate the dreaded "liner lift" that kills so many 4.6s, as well as a set of terrific ARB head studs to protect against the common blown head gasket issue. The result: a "better than new" power plant! Of course all new internals were installed and the engine is supported by all new ancillaries from the coils/wire/plugs to new water pump/thermostat (185)/hoses/tank. The suspension was modernized with gas charged Terrafirma 2" lift shocks and springs and steering damper. TF also supplied the 30mm spacers that widen the truck's stance. The new owner requested the Hurricanes be powder-coated in a "Cadillac Grey" semigloss finish and we picked the BIG (32+") Falken Wildpeaks. Of course the ridiculously fragile OEM plastic bumpers had to go so we added the very attractive and functional Gladiator front steel bumper with a pair of matching shackles and a black Fairlead for the letterbox. The bumper mounts a pair of high intensity LED fogs that feature Daytimes Running Light elements. The headlight hi/lo bulbs are upgraded to modern COB LED bulbs. Out back its a TF bumper with another pair of anti-rattle shackles and a high-mount spare. The hood features a matte black G4-style blackout decal that compliments the reconditioned fender arches. Inside reconditioned seats in the front flank the modern 9" Pioneer touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and a back up camera. A slight curl to the dashboard was brough under control with an aftermarket trim kit. A new headliner perfects the cabin ambiance!
