It takes the already dramatic AMG GT platform and pushes it closer to a street-legal race car, borrowing heavily from AMG's GT3 racing program. Power comes from a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged AMG V8, producing 577 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It sends power to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, launching the GT R from 0-60 mph in around 3.5 seconds. Throttle response is immediate, and the torque hits hardespecially in Race modemaking every acceleration feel violent in the best way. The chassis is where the GT R truly separates itself. It features rear-wheel steering, active aerodynamics, electronically controlled coilover suspension, a carbon fiber torque tube, and extensive lightweight materials throughout.
