If you been following us for a while, you know we build all manner of Discovery 2's, mostly modified in some way, many wildly so! It's very refreshening then to build one very close to stock, with just a smattering of tasteful, contemporary mods. That's what we did in this case. The fact that this came to us as an exquisitely well maintained Texas bred and born (utterly, completely rust-free) with excellent [paint and trim throughout gave us the perfect starting point for a low-key approach. Of course, as is virtually always the case, the engine needed overhaul (it was constantly fouling #6 plug as a result of an internal coolant leak from a cracked block), so we immediately installed a fully remanufactured engine featuring Turner Engineering flanged ("top-hat"0 liners, Elring head gaskets and ARP chromoly head studs. We love the look and ride of larger tires, so our favorite +1.5" oversize tires, Nexen Roadian AT Pro8's were installed over new brakes and original rims (none of which had ever been curbed!). The wheel arches were reconditioned and a new headliner installed as usual. The client also requested a very modern 9" Pioneer Wireless Touchscreen with CarPlay and a night vision backup camera as well as a modest application of aftermarket "Burl Wood" trim pieces.
