Chevy strapped a twin-rotor Eaton R2300 supercharger with a unique four-lobe rotor design on a 6.2-liter V-8, which helps the LS9 produce its exceptional performance range. 638 HP at 6,500 rpm, 604 LB/FT at 3,800 rpm. 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, 11.2 second quarter-mile time (at 130.5 mph). The LS9 engine was hand-assembled at GMs Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan.The LS9 is mated to an upgraded six-speed manual transmission fitted with a twin-disc clutch that provides exceptional clamping power, while maintaining an easy, very-manageable clutch pedal. The transmission features specific gearing, which includes a steep first-gear ratio to aid in launching the car off the line, and a sixth-gear that actually helps the ZR1 achieve top-speed.Rounding out the drivetrain is the ZR1s rear axle. Just as the engine and transmission are more robust on the C6 ZR1, so is the rear axle. It features asymmetrical axle-shaft diameters that were developed after careful testing to provide optimal torque management.Magnetic Selective Ride Control comes standard, which includes specialized tuning specific to the ZR1 platform. From a high-performance perspective, the Magnetic Selective Ride Control helps the rear axle remain planted during launch for smooth, hop-free acceleration.To help harness the power generated by the LS9 engine and drivertrain, the ZR1 is fitted with an equally impressive braking system. The Corvette comes equipped with Brembo carbon-ceramic brake rotors. With the Brembo system, the brake rotors are manufactured out of a carbon-fiber-reinforced ceramic silicon carbide material. The vented and cross-drilled rotors on the ZR1 measure 15.5 inches in diameter in the front and 15 inches in diameter in the rear, making them amongst the largest carbon-ceramic rotors available on any production vehicle. The Brembo rotors are paired with high-performance calipers designed specifically for the ZR1.The ZR1s brakes are visible through exclusive, 20-spoke alloy wheels. This car is equipped with an optional chrome version of the standard silver wheel. These massive wheels are mated to Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires which were developed specifically for the ZR1, measuring P285/30ZR19 in front and P335/25ZR20 in the rear.The most distinguishable feature of the C6 ZR1 is the slightly cowled hood that features a clear, polycarbonate window. The underside of the hood features a visible carbon-fiber-weave covering the entirety of the space.Moving beyond the hood, the ZR1 also features widened, carbon-fiber front fenders with functional twin air-ducts, a full-width body-color rear spoiler incorporating a center high-mounted stop lamp, and four polished center-mounted exhaust tips. All of the exterior features were developed to enhance high-speed stability and driver control.The ZR1s interior design is built on Corvette brands dual-cockpit heritage.
