In the end, the 427 Corvette Convertible is essentially a Z06 with a steel chassis...Hence, all that Z06 equipment , engine, transmission, steering, brakes, etc., makes the 427 drive just like the Z06. Chevy refuses to call the 427 droptop a Z06 because the engineers insist the Z06 was designed to be a coupe and that it would not take kindly to having it's magnesium-reinforced roof panel simply removed.
