That was the question my wife asked me when I found the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck at Action Automotive Service in Hudson, New York. For months, we had been searching for a small, four-wheel-drive, light duty pickup truck that would replace our farm truck we have owned for many years. We were specifically looking for a Toyota Tacoma, because our friend and mechanic has owned several of them over the years and recommended the Tacoma for longevity and durability. We didnt need a new truck, but wanted one at a reasonable price, in good condition. Most of the trucks I found online had extremely high mileage; in excess of 180,000 to 240,000 miles. The price ranges for these vehicles were way above what we wanted to pay, until I found the perfect tuck at the dealership in Hudson. My wife and I own a small farm in central Pennsylvania, so the commitment to drive two hundred forty-plus miles to look at a used truck was considerable. This Tacoma had less than 100,000 miles on it which, for what we were looking for, fit our criterion for purchase. Action Automotive posted pictures online from every angle, showing the condition and detail of the pickup. It looked terrific. I called the number on the website and spoke to John Rapp, the owner of the dealership. I explained to John what we were looking for and inquired about his Tacoma. I immediately felt comfortable with his direct answers to my questions, in fact, he volunteered information about the truck that I had not asked. I had already run a Carfax search on the truck and studied its history. It was very clean. My concern was undercarriage rust because it had been on the Gulf coast of Florida for several years. John told me right up front he replaced the rear bumper because of rust, but other than that, it was a really good truck. What I didnt tell John on the phone was that my wife comes from a long line of car dealers. Her grandfather owned a dealership in Colorado and her father was a master salesman. The price for the truck was well below market value. When I told her about finding the Tacoma and my conversations with John, the first thing she asked me was, so, whats wrong with it? I told her I couldnt find anything wrong with it from the photos, the research and discussions I had with John. I thought we should go look at it. She agreed, so, we drove the two hundred and forty-plus miles (through a major snow storm) to see this truck. It was a long trip. John was expecting us and was completely prepared when we got there. He was very personable at made us feel right at home. His office was comfortable and asked if we wanted to take the truck for a test drive. Of course we did. He handed us the keys and off we went for a short test drive. The Tacoma performed just as John said it would. He said it was a good truck; it was a great truck! We drove back to the lot after our test drive. I looked around at the other vehicles for sale to see what the inventory was like. Each one was in excellent condition and meticulously maintained. We purchased the truck right then and there. John took us to the Department Motor Vehicles to facilitate the title transfer. Nothing could have been easier. The true test was the drive back home to Pennsylvania. I could not believe what a comfortable ride this little pickup offered. Our friend and mechanic gave the Tacoma a thorough assessment prior to having its State Inspection. He was very impressed with its overall condition and mechanical soundness. He told us we did very well with this purchase. In this age if distrust and unscrupulous characters in our society, it is refreshing to find an honest business owner like John Rapp at Action Automotive Service in Hudson, New York. Purchasing a used vehicle can be a risky and stressful event. John made this experience enjoyable and gave us much more than we were looking which will last us for many years to come. I needed to replace an aging minivan and didn't want to spend a large amount of money. For a month I viewed on a regular basis every website listing used cars for sale within a 50 mile radius. There were a few that piqued my interest. I have a few dealer friends and they didn't have exactly what I wanted. A week ago I noticed a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with low mileage and a good price. Twenty minutes later I stopped at Action Auto and met John Rapp. He let me test drive the car and fifteen minutes later I bought the car. I was pleased at how easy it was. John was very nice and cooperative and I strongly recommend to any and all that they check out his inventory.

Right off the rip I knew this was the place to buy from. John is a great guy and will do anything for you to get you in the car you want. He had the exact truck I was looking for. Over the past 8 months I had scoured the internet for a very specific truck for work, but couldnt find one in my price range. At one point I did find one, and even put a deposit down, but the dealerships follow through was horrible and it didnt work out. Then I found one at Action Auto. The catch?: it was over 5 hours of commuting away. After talking with John I was hopeful enough in that I gave him a deposit over the phone. Each attempt to make time to get out there was met with a work load that prevented my going. So I did what I thought no sane person would ever do, I purchased the truck over the phone without ever going to see and drive it. (Im not really crazy.) John over at Action went out of his way to make everything come together. As I was purchasing a Ford F-150 he personally brought it to the local Ford Dealer and had diagnostics performed and the paperwork was sent to me. He informed me that the truck was in really nice shape (an understatement) and he had put new tires on it. He told me of a tear in the seat, upfront before negotiations began (which I am having repaired). John was very Honest, he did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. He was Fair in his pricing, and I ended up with more value for my dollarI got a really good deal. Lastly, John was very Helpful. This was all done over the phone. He handled all the paperwork via the mail service. All the recall and other service work was done as promised and when I had a company pick up the truck John expedited things for me on his end. When the truck arrived I was amazedthis is one clean, beautiful machine. John got my check and the truck off the lot, but he kept up with the follow through. He called to make sure I was satisfied with the truck after I received it. Would I recommend that people buy used cars from used car dealers over the phone without seeing and test driving them? NO. I wouldnt have even thought to trust the salesman, but in this case I stand corrected. Integrity means a lot to me and Ive got to say, if you are looking for someone who will talk straight with you, be honest with you, follow through with you and go the extra mile for you call John!

Spent a while looking for an ideal 3/4 ton work truck. I decided to take a drive down from the Albany area to take a look at a truck on the lot. John was great to deal with. Was able to make a deal on the truck the same day, and the truck was ready for delivery on the day/time he specified with all work completed. I was so sad to be parting with my beloved Infiniti, but when I learned the repairs would cost more than the car was worth, I started shopping. I shopped in Kingston, Beacon, Albany, & Troy...meh. Not thrilled with anything (maybe I was being picky) coupled with the fact that I am not a big fan of being "sold" a car (I enjoy doing the research and driving the cars I want to drive-- not the ones that dealers are trying to sell) I was less than enthusiastic about finding my next car. I ended up driving a car that I really liked and began the search for the (same) car but with the package I wanted. I found two on this site: one at Action and one up North. I drove both-- awesome car. Now which dealer to purchase it from? No brainer--I went with Jon. He was gracious about allowing me to test drive (many many) cars on his lot, was super friendly and relaxed during my 'intense' test driving. When I made the decision and called to discuss purchase price, he was more than willing to work with me (worked out a stellar deal). He connected me with a mechanic that works specifically on the type of car I purchased and encouraged me to call him if anything was off or wrong, anytime. It was simply a great buying experience.

As with other customers I too was looking for a specific vehicle that was available at action automotive service. Called and talked to John and was also very pleased with the timely and professional service. He helped me to get prepared to get a transit permit to drive my new used truck back home in advance over the phone. I flew from North Carolina to Albany and John was there waiting for me as we had discussed over the phone. After test driving the vehicle we did all paper work and then He took me to the DMV where I got the permit. I met all who work for him and was very pleased with their friendly attitudes. The truck was as I had hoped for and I drove the 700miles home with a smile and am very happy to have this truck. I gotta tell ya that this review is different. I traveled from Wamego Kansas to Hudson New York to buy a Ford F150 from Action Automotive Service LLC. I did this because of my faith in John Rapp, the owner of Action Auto. I searched for the perfect car on the Internet and John had it. We talked on the phone and I we hit it off. I trusted him immediately. He suggested Amtrak as the least expensive way to get there and my wife Nancy, my daughter Caitlin, and I decided it would be a fun adventure and bought Amtrak tickets. Sleeper cars and all. But at the last minute the train was cancelled. Something about twelve foot snow drifts over the rails. So we booked flights and because of snow delays we didn't get to Albany until 1AM. John drove all the way up to Albany to pick us up and shepherded us through all the paper work at the courthouse to get a permit to drive it back to Kansas. Now, we're talking John having devoted most of a day taking care of a single customer. That's service! The pickup is performing very well and even better than I had hoped. Of course I would recommend him to a friend. And if you're looking for a great adventure, then do as we did, and travel to Action Auto in New York.

I decided to stop by Action Auto while I was driving by and I am glad I did. I have been looking for a vehicle for a long time and couldn't seem to find the right deal. I stopped in and asked about a truck and we agreed on a very reasonable price. I told him I would think about it and get back to him. As I drove down the road after I left I realized I had to go back and take the good deal he gave me because I wouldn't find another deal like that.

I went all over looking for a reasonable priced used car . I had my eye on this 2006 Chevy Impala . After talking to John Rapp ,he let me take the car to my garage ,. The car was as he said would be , a great car . I got a lot of car for the price. It only took a ride and a I will take it . My daughter has it and she is very familiar with this type of vehicle, since she had a 2001 Chevy Impala . She didn't want to give it up , it had 230,000 miles on it . Once she got into the Car we got from John , she forgot all about the older one. She now has a new friend thanks to John.

After looking though the Want-AD DIGEST AN AUTO FINDER. I throught I would try a local dealer to buy a pick-up. So driving by Action Automotive I so a nice truck that I would like to have. After looking at the truck I went in an talked to John about the truck. The truck needed little work that I wanted fixed, John said no problem. He fixed what I wanted fixed an then some. Other dealers would not of done this, they would of just fixed what I asked for. It was kind of nice not hearing the words ( what can I do, for you to buy this car today). I would buy another car or truck from John.

After what seemed like an endless search for a vehicle I found exactly what I was looking for on line at Action Automotive. Although it was over an hour from my home I made the drive. Dealing with John was such a great experience. He made the buying process so simple and easy. He was casual, personable and so down to earth. I couldn't of asked for anything more. I needed the vehicle by a certain date and he went above and beyond to make sure I had it. There were a few things to be done to the vehicle and John took care of everything without a hitch. Great deal on a nice clean F-150, it was well advertised with a lot of pictures. I was able to determine just how clean it was from all the photos. Dealer John Rapp and his mechanic, Frank, put the lie to all the stereotypes about used car dealers: They're just decent, down-to-earth, hard-working guys. Their office is orderly and John has an amiable, low-pressure sales approach that's geared to building long-term customer loyalty. His lot is full of quality used vehicles and he is very busy, even on a rainy, December Saturday! When John found out that I lived an hour away across state lines, he went to great lengths to accommodate my own busy work schedule and made the purchase and title transfer process as seamless and easy as could be. John also printed out the full CarFax data for my vehicle, free of charge. The lot at Action Automotive Service has a wide selection of quality, used vehicles - not a junker in sight. The gorgeous Lincoln Town car I bought from John far exceeds my original expectations of what I could afford with my available budget. The truth is: I payed below book value for the finest automobile I have ever owned! When my wife's car needs replacing in the next year or so, I will be sure to check out the inventory at Action Automotive Service. Your money goes a lot further when you work with an honest, ethical dealer like John Rapp. He may make a little less profit per vehicle than the guy down the road, but Mr. Rapp obviously takes a long view...
