They took me in within 10 Min told me one hour to do it after 2 hours I went to look for my car and found it by the side of the bld all done and not one person told me it was done, so I don't know how long I was waiting after it was done

I bought 3 cars from them.. last one Honda Insight 2013.. it got discontinued..got airbag recalls, engine problem.. they would not negotiate extra miles or exchange for another vehicle. Told me to crash the car to get rid of it. Service guy Brad was rude and very cocky...Will never buy or service my vehicle there again.

He is easy to deal with, answered my many questions, and has continued to be available even after the sale. They get you in with free inspection, but you always leave paying close to $500to $900-$19.95 inspection fee which they deduct for you. Huge ripoff. Get your inspection done somewhere else. Worst service experience. Prime honda in saco is much better. Berlin city honda have a horrendous labor rate charged to customers. Stay away from this place.

Very proficient Sale and Finance staff, facility was very clean and organized, all staff was eager to help and answer any and all question and concerns was greeted quickly on arrival. salesman did exactly what was asked of him and what was agreed upon. We had a scheduled appointment that was on time and was conducted quickly and efficiently. The car was prepared prior to arrival and was ready to go. Salesman demonstrated all functions of the care expertly. Beyond satisfied with the whole experience. By far the best dealership I have ever dealt with. highly recommend Berlin City Honda, you will to be disappointed!

They were happy to sell me a car, but I had to go back to the dealership multiple times to get service. I had trouble immediately after the purchase. It took at least a month for the whole problem to get solved and my making multiple trips to the dealership on a weekly basis. I spoke to the service manager and the only thing he did for me was apologize and say he could understand my frustration. He sounded very scripted. They had excuses for everything!! The financing department also forgot to have me sign some important paperwork when I purchased the vehicle. So, had to make another trip in to complete that. And, the sales department sold me a used car with a leaky tire. Worst car buying experience ever!!!

I recently leased a 2016 Honda Civic with Berlin City and I have had nothing but trouble since I drove it off the lot. I have only had the car a little over a month now and I have had to re-sign my contract 4 times because of mess up on their end. The first time I signed they filled out the paper work for a car with a different VIN number then the one they gave me the keys for! After about a week and a half they finally realized and had me come back to redo the contract, Which I was fine with knowing that they are only human and mistakes happen. After re- signing they have me come back again for paperwork that they forgot to ask me for initially ( pay-stub, proof of graduation, etc.) . So now I'm starting to get a little irritated. In my opinion they should not be forgetting this routine stuff when the sell and lease cars every day... SO about a week later I get another call asking me to come back to complete another contract because the second contract I signed was rejected by Honda finance because Berlin tried to back date the second one. So I went back in, extremely aggravated for the inconvenience of having to go back a third time for something that should have been done right the first time. I made It quite clear how unhappy I was and that I expected them to triple check all the paperwork to make sure it was 100% okay before I left because I will not be happy if I have to go back again. Just like clock work about 2 weeks after that I get a package in the mail with a 4th contract for me to re-sign since the last contract I signed was filled out incorrectly and rejected yet again by Honda finance. The fact that they didn't even have the courtesy of calling me to explain what was going on and just wrote me a note asking me to re-sign is 100% unprofessional and unacceptable to me. I am so thoroughly enraged and disgusted with this company and this whole process, I would NEVER suggest people to go through this company! Trust me this process and been anything but "Easy."

I have a vehicle inspection completed in May, 2016, that was failed by Berlin City due to "torn trailing arm bushing and quoted over $700 for repair. After two more inspection that found no damage, included one by the inspection department of the Maine State Police, the vehicle passed inspection with no work completed. The dealership blamed the failed inspection on and "inexperienced mechanic" of which I have huge doubts. Do not take your vehicle there for a "free" inspection.

The negotiation process went fine. I communicated with the sales man for a week and settled for a Civic, which I love so far. However, when I came to pick up the car on May 14 and went over all the paperwork, the finance manager, Wayne, tried so hard to convince me buy extended warranty, which was almost 2000 dollars. I stupidly agreed to buy it when he said I can cancel with no trouble and get a full refund within 60 days. After doing some research online and having learned how over-priced their warranty is (for the same plan, it costs 900 dollars in another honda dealer), I decided to cancel. As it turned out, the cancellation process was SUCH A PAIN. Not only did I need to drive there (1 hr +) to sign the cancellation form, I did not receive the check after 3 weeks, when Wayne promised I only need to wait for 10 business days. I called HondaCare on June 6, they didn't even receive my cancellation form! I called Wayne on the same day and asked for an explanation. He said he would check my file and get back to me. OF COURSE HE DIDNT CALL ME BACK. After tricking me to buy the stupid extended warranty, I am just an annoying student who bothered him all the time to get my money back. Worst guy I have ever did business with. Never respond to customers need. Definitely dont work with him. I ended up cancelling my extended warranty myself with HONDA. It turned out the whole process is so easy. I just need to download the cancellation form online, yes the same one Wayne asked me to drive there to sign, fill it in and email back to Honda. Then after 10 days, I received my check. I dont need to waste 2.5 hrs of my life to drive to Berlin City to sign the stupid form. They can totally email me the form or tell me what to do. But no, Wayne made it clear that I had to drive there to sign it in person, then lied to me that it would only take 10 days, and then maybe tossed my cancellation form in the trash can and kept me waiting, hoping that maybe I would not press him so hard and after 60 days I would not be eligible for a full refund. Well, Ive never been mean to anybody in my entire life. But Wayne, I want to say all the words that my English teacher told me never to use to you. THAT IS HOW FURIOUS I AM ABOUT YOU!!!Moreover, every time I tried to call Wayne or any other finance manager was a PAINFUL process. You know they are out there but they never picked up the phone! Every time I need to call 10+ times in order to talk to them. One more thing, four weeks since I bought my car, I called the state's DMV on June 13, they haven't even received my title application yet!!! In short, Berlin City always advertises how easy it is to do business with them. Total BS! All they did was tricking you to buy car from them and the minute you handed them the check, you are dead to them. I hate myself that I chose them over Lee Honda for just a 500-dollar price difference. So not worth it. DON'T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!

I recently received a coupon to put toward an oil change and tire rotation. Great but it was for my previous car, a Nissan, which I have since sold. I called and asked if I could use it toward my current vehicle, a Honda CRV, and was told yes. I took my CRV to the appointment and filled the Service Rep, Richard Haines, in on my previous conversation. He was very professional and took care of my request with out a moment's hesitation. I bought a new Honda Fit on 4-22-16 and I am so excited. I love my new car. I only stopped to look and a wonderful gentleman asked me if I would like to try it out. I drove it and fell in love with it. Jack Dowd was the gentleman who showed me all the exciting things in this little car. I can't say enough about, Jack. He let me flow at my own pace, I didn't feel pushed or rushed, he was friendly and easy to talk to. Once I decided I wanted the car, I just sat back. Jack did it all for me. I told him that I had bought a number of cars in my lifetime (I'm 68) and I had never had such an easy time of it from start to finish. He did it all for me. I just signed the paper and drove away. Thank you, Jack, for making this such an easy and fun experience for me. I LOVE MY HONDA FIT !!!

Fixed my airbag (recall) problem in 90 minutes, gave me a loaner, and threw a new tail-light bulb in my passenger seat (no charge) as I also had a brake light out as well, but asked them not to fix it. Quick, efficient, friendly. Just the way I like it.

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I had the unfortunate pleasure of working with Cliff. All he wants is commission he doesn't care about your needs. Seemed like a nice guy buying the car he said to let him know if I needed anything, which I did. I recently purchased a Ford Focus, I signed papers on Monday, and tried returning it Wednesday, he was so aggressive from the start and told me it's to late and I can't just return a car because I don't like it! False. When I also told him I don't like the way it felt when I drove he told me I'm going to have to get used to it. He let me take home the car Saturday but I didn't sign until Monday. He said it counted as my 4 days and I couldn't do anything about it . False I very much can, I have 4 days from signing for it to return it and I also can't drive over 200 miles. Which I followed both of those. I brought my aunt with me just to have somebody there with me and when she asked if she could see where it says on paper I can't return it he was so rude to her he said its non of her business. I was beside myself with the amount of disrespect. We said we were done with him and as we were leaving, an associate we spoke to as we walked in and explained the situation to whom said it won't be a problem, he told us to go around to the front and speak with a manger after hearing how Cliff spoke to us. So with us being upset we did, cliff saw us and rudely interrupted, laughing saying he already spoke to the manager and it wouldn't get us anywhere. He's a lying manipulative person who I would never suggest working with. When we actually got to sit down and talk to a manager, she said Cliff told her that I went over the 200 which there is no way of him knowing because my car was locked. Never have we ever been so disrespected in a "professional" setting.

Prior to purchasing my vehicle I noticed that the dealership stickered the vehicle when the brakes were malfunctioning. It didn't seem unsafe but it needed to be fixed. Also either the dealership in NH or ME did not balance the new tires that they put on the vehicle. I only noticed this when I got the car up to speed on the highway. My car will not be visiting this dealer ever again.

Steve Gendron helped me into my third Pilot. After initially expressing my concern over the big changes in the new Pilot, the test drive convinced me to go with the new one. After deciding to turn in my low-mile 2013 Pilot and take them up on one of their great internet specials, I was told they were not able to get me the model I wanted. Pilots are, apparently, pretty popular! In spite of this, Steve was able to work with the sales manager to find me the next model up, get it to Maine and work out a great deal for me. Can hardly believe they were willing to do the deal given the popularity of the pilots - but they did. Great car, easy experience - couldn't be happier.

Wow! Went in to check out a 2013 CRV, and immediately learned that their "firm price" includes an EXTRA $600 for Doc Fees and another $400 for anti-theft etching(?). So a that $1,000 surprise means their "firm price" includes an extra $1,000 OVER their advertised price! My trade-in is a 2005 CRV, in outstanding condition (one owner, no wrecks, no rust, etc). This dealer had six or eight of these, with prices ranging from $7,000 to $9,500 (plus their extra "surprise" $1,000, of course)! Their offer for my car was only $3,300.The CRV on the Berlin City lot for $10,500 has 10,000 miles more than my car - that they offered me $3,300 for!Sooooo... if your idea of a "Fair Profit" is to add 200% to your cost, then sell your product: Berlin City is the place for you! ....P.S. The young salesman was a nice, polite guy - but he obviously works for a company with incomprehensible, unethical ideas about what a "Fair Profit" is.

Went in for an inspection sticker.That is what I got! That is all I wanted. I did not get the run around like you get at other garages when in for a simple sticker. I knew that my civic was up to par and that is just what Berlin City found. I also called with my vin to check on air bag recall and got an immediate answer. They also squeezed me right in quickly before my coupon expired!

I bought a CPO Honda which was delivered with a four month old inspection sticker, a dirty interior ( black interior and it was dark when I took delivery) and every wheel was missing a lug nut! When I had to go in to deliver paperwork the finance guy failed to have my wife sign when we were in his office, I let my sales woman know about my concerns. It seems she didn't care or pass the information to the mangers because I have not heard from any body. I like the car but I won't go back to or recommend Berlin City Honda.

Except to have me deliver the paperwork the finance person neglected to have my wife sign, I have not been contacted by any one to see if I was satisfied. When I delivered the neglected paperwork I gave my sales person a list of three concerns: the car had an inspection sticker that was already four months old, the interior of the car was not clean, especially the dark sticky substance on the back and passenger seats and that no body had noticed that every wheel was missing a lug nut! She didn't seem to care about my concerns and apparently neither did the managers because I never heard from any body to see if they could make it right. I like the car but I won't return to or recommend Berlin City Honda.

purchased a 4runner in july. was promised paper work that never arrived or arrived later than promised.the price listed on line was pushed up when arrived test drove the car and showed intrest. they didnt even want to talk after we rejected extended warranty.they tried to push us to use their lender instead of our bank.the car was delivered because it needed to be inpected before sold. the deliveryman was great. but paper work was missing and the driver had to wait at my house for a while no one respnoded to our calls.the new muffler had a ding in it the cleaning was terrible and cleaning supplies were still in the car with a funky smell i had to clean the car inside and out. we only recieved one key which never happened to me with a dealer before. I would not go back to this dealership and would tell others to stay away.

Keys for my 2004 Honda Pilot were not sliding into locks and ignition. Brad called and recommended replacement of ignition and door locks for $1250. My daughter was waiting there for the work to be done, so I said "Go ahead", although I would have liked to get a 2nd opinion. Fortunately, they had to "order a part", and an hour later (my daughter waited a total of 3 hours for no work to be done), a "laundry list" of repair estimates (more than $4,000 worth on top of the $1250 for the ignition/locks) was handed to my daughter. I called a locksmith who recommended WD-40 for the door locks, and now keys slide in perfectly! Saved $600 for the door lock replacement! The locksmith is also replacing the ignition for much less than on the Berlin City estimate. Then I had my mechanic check the "laundry list" of suggested repairs. He said all of the items were "preventative" but not necessary. So, I saved over $5,000 by walking away from Berlin City Honda without any repairs. I will NEVER take my car there again.

Berlin City was an easy, great experience right from the first introductions. Within minutes of arriving on site Stuart (a friendly salesman) was introducing himself and spending time with me getting to know me personally. He was interested in learning about me as a person and what my intentions were for a new car. He was able to guide me towards looking at two different models that he felt were good matches for me. He did not try to persuade me to look at other models or anything I was not interested in, he strictly worked with me to find the best match for me. They offered me test drives on both models that day (which were quick and easy), and also agreed to meet me two days later (on his day off) to test drive the models again with my girlfriend. Stuart was also in contact via email and text message throughout the week, making sure there was nothing he could do to make it easier for me. On the second day we met we agree to go with the Honda Accord Sport! When I was able to meet a few days later, Stuart and the entire Berlin City staff was extremely friendly and easy to work with as I bought my first new car! I recently bought a 2015 Honda Civic Ex-L. I had looked at this car elsewhere and knew the price I thought was fair. When the interior-exterior color combination arrived, I contacted this dealer. The entire deal was conducted on the phone and through text and email -- which was easiest for me. Maybe I could have negotiated a better price, but I thought it was fair, and haggling isn't my style. I asked for photos of the car -- no problem. I asked them to hold the car for a couple of days- no problem, no deposit. I arrived at the dealer and asked to take a test drive -- no problem driving alone. I loved the trust and the ease of buying my first new car in many decades. Then came the unfortunate wait for the paper signing. Even though I was paying cash, I sat and waited and made small talk with the poor salesman for nearly three hours (!!!) with no explanation about the wait. When I was called into an office to sign a few papers, I was given the hard-sell for an extended warranty. I was totally unprepared for that and refused to consider it at that moment. They relented and extended my decision by a day. When that was over, the very knowledgeable salesman sat in the car with me and explained everything I could possibly remember. I drove away four-and-a-half hours later. The next day I called and asked for all-weather mats as an apology for the ridiculous wait. The mats were ready when I arrived. When I called to ask about the title to the car which was taking several days, they offered to drive it to me (Fed Ex the next day instead). So... I would definitely recommend this dealer -- their knowledge, their trust, their willingness to be of service --, but I would threaten to walk out if the finance department takes too long, and I would definitely ask for time to research an extended warranty.

Take one daughter's CRV and ask for an oil change, wiper blades and rotate and balance tires. Take the complimentary shuttle to the airport and leave;.Two days later my daughter received a phone call from service. Her carefully maintained car (104 K miles) needed spark plugs, a valve adjustment, new gasket, complete brake fluid flush and refill, air filter, plastic headlight cover sanding ..."but wait there's more"... The exhaust bracket is ready to fail as well and there is soot near the joint on the exhaust as well.Dad to service: "spark plugs , did you inspect them? Service to dad , "no"Dad to service , " valve adjustment , are you sure it is needed?"Service to Dad: " no"Should I continue ?"Oh", these "must haves" brought the bill to $1800"...The car had new plugs ( six months old), recently drained and refilled brake fluid. . The valves has been adjusted a few months before....... OK enough of my story except for two final anecdotes.On the way home after paying for my original few repairs and one additional " find"... The car vibrated so badly that I turned around and returned to the shop.....sure enough their balancing had been faulty.My spotless car was covered in dirt when I returned. We came into the dealership at 6:15 to turn in our current 2012 CRV for a 2014 CRV. The entire process took 3 hours and 15 minutes, and they were nice enought to stay and complete the transaction even though they close at 8 p.m. This is the 4th car I have leased through Berlin City, and as long as you come in prepared, i.e. know what is being offered competitively and know your book value if you are trading in, they are quite reasonable to deal with.We were very happy with the service provided by the salesperson and the finance person. Now, if they could only get the purchase process down to 2 hours or less.... I have closed on houses faster. And this is not to disparage Berlin City, I have leased at other dealerships over the years, and this is typical.

I purchased 2 vehicles on 11/30/13. Leaving the dealership the same day we went in with 2 vehicles I thought was phenomenal! I couldn't believe it was that easy ... Berlin City was out to make this a great experience but as soon as we left that Saturday night the whole experience went down hill. I was disappointed that when we went Monday night to finish signing all the paperwork our sales person, Stewart Stone, was no where to be seen. I was more disappointed when, because he was nowhere to be found, the keys to my trade in couldn't be found, which meant returning the next night to finish transferring my belongings to my new vehicle. I was even more disappointed when we were told the paperwork had a misspelling of our co-signer's name and had to be re-signed. We had to drive to the dealer, pick up the paperwork, drive it to our co-signer and deliver the corrected papers back to the dealership. My husband was asked to bring his truck in to detail it as it had not yet been through cleaning - they cleaned top to bottom and gave him another tank of gas and brand new floor mats! They couldn't have bent over backwards enough for him - GREAT! He then was told to have me call Chris Tarr to make the same arrangements for my car. I scheduled an appointment and brought it in ... the ONLY thing that was done to it was the window sticker on the rear driver side window had been removed ... they did not vacuum, clean, wash the outside and they did not gas it up as promised. The next day I called Stewart to inform him of this and he stated he would call service to find out what happened and call me back ... that was Tuesday at 11:30 am... it is now Thursday at 6:30 pm...I am STILL waiting for a return call. I also informed Chris Tarr the night we signed all the paperwork that a family member had referred us and should qualify for the referral bonus (x2). He assured me he would take care of it personally ... my family has yet to hear from him.I have rated the dealership as "OK" due to the fact that we ended up with the 2 vehicles that we wanted, the price was fair and initially the service was great. But since we drove off the lot that first night I feel that I have been viewed as nothing but a nuisance. I'm on the fence of whether I would recommend Berlin City to anyone else ... they clearly fell down on all the little details and I truly am disappointed.

Stewart Stone's customer service was non existent after I purchased the car. Stewart was supposed to return my calls twice and never did. On both occasions I needed to contact Jeff Benoit, sales manager, to get assistance. This was in regard to installing a remote. I did have trouble with my remote start and needed to return the vehicle to get that fixed. Upon picking up my car Stewart was there and indicated he would call in a week or so to see how everything was going. I never heard from him.

Considering that previous car buying experiences have not been all that pleasant, I was extremely impressed with the assistance I received for my lease buy-out visit on 12/4/13. I did in fact only meet Chris after the deal was completed but his assistance over the phone was professional and thorough. The only negative I might mention was my online application from the previous days submission seemed to have disappeared, even though I received a confirmation email. (It was, however, submitted on "Cyber Monday" so maybe it went into cyberspace..) No worries though as he promptly started the process over the phone with very little info needed. Even more impressive was the quick response by phone from Tracey Ann that same day and then the following morning. I have to say that it is the first time I have bought a car where the dreaded, secretive shuffling between sales staff and financing staff never took place. It was refreshing to feel like I was actually being listened to and my financial concerns were of interest to the powers that be, who hold a big chunk of $ in the balance for the average working stiff like myself! I was away when my daughter's CRV stopped functioning and I told her to bring it to Berlin City. The gentleman in service who helped her was very nice and understanding -- which is what I always find Berlin City's service dept. Berlin City kept the car on site after finding that it was now no good and I was still away. Upon my return I talked to service and then Steve Gendron was recommended to me. I talked to Steve about what he had that was used and "cheap" that my daughter could use for the next year or two until she graduated Master's school and could get whatever she then wanted. I have always felt that Berlin City offered a fair deal and the people are generally nice and helpful. Steve was very nice and very helpful although I did not feel the deal was the best I could have got, I was pressed for time and liked Berlin City and did not want to keep looking elsewhere.

Our experience with Berlin City was good. We were shopping for a replacement for my 2003 Volvo xc70. I Berlin City had several Honda Pilots available listed on-line. I wanted the opportunity to compare this vehicle with others I was researching. We traveled from away to get to the dealership, however,We actually landed on the Nissan lot, which only had 1 Honda available. It was an older model, but had a good price. The sales person worked hard to put us into a car that day, but I was still reluctant and not convinced of the car I wanted yet. We continued our research and narrowed the decision eventually to a Honda Pilot (We actually tried it at another dealership closer to home) . We utilized on-line resources and contacted Chris Tarr at Berlin City regarding the vehicle. We traveled to Portland again to see the listed model,The vehicle was in good shape, the price was good for the Year/Milaege. We had no intention of actually making the purchase that day but Chris and the Finance dept were able to accommodate our need and expedited the process for the purchase of the vehicle saving us an additional trip to the dealership. Chris was attentive to keep us on our deadline that afternoon, Although the detailing and final delivery was a bit past the time we were trying to leave for another commitment, the dealership did have the best intentions to deliver the car in pristine condition and topped off with fil tank of gas. Thanks! I would also love to get a complimentary Honda hat or coffee mug to show my pride as a loyal Honda customer. Did I mention, this is my 3rd Honda?

I recently bought a 2013 CR-V from Berlin City Honda of Portland. It was my first time working with them. I shopped a bunch of dealers in Maine and New Hampshire to help negotiate a good deal. They weren't the lowest price but they are my local dealer and were close enough that we decided to go with them. I did all the negotiating by email and had the price and financing agreed before going in. My salesperson was Ted Hanson, he was excellent - knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and patient as I was working my way through offers. My F&I person (can't remember his name) was also great - he did his job trying to sell me extras but in an honest and un-pushy way. We arranged a time to go in and complete the sale, and this all went great. Since buying the car I've had a few emails and calls checking in to see how we're doing, including a call from Ted to wish me a happy birthday. Great service and above what I tend to expect nowadays. Couldn't be happier with the experience and we love our CR-V!

Our experience with Mr. Waldron was exceptional. He was attentive without being overbearing, ready with information, and generally a pleasure to interact with. I very much appreciated his knowledge of the industry, and his transparency concerning the structure of his compensation. An example of the former was his awareness of the fact that the most recent iteration of the Toyota RAV4 had failed important safety tests, and received a rating of "poor." While I wasn't considering purchasing a RAV4, the fact that Mr. Waldron was sufficiently aware of the industry to possess that knowledge gave me confidence that the car he was selling me was of high quality. In regards to the later, Mr. Waldron's willingness to discuss how he would benefit from a sale made me feel comfortable with him, and confident that he would deal with me in an above board fashion.In additional to the above, when asked, I had told Mr. Waldron that my trade in had never been in an accident, forgetting that I had in fact been in a fender bender two years prior, a fact which a Carfax search turned up. I was mortified at my error, but Mr. Waldron was very gracious, and didn't accuse me of lying, or treat me as if I'd lied to him, a grace which I very much appreciated, and found professional.Two exceedingly minor glitches that occurred, and which were most likely due to computer error: when we went to sign the paperwork, the USAA discount was not reflected, and we had to ask again that it be applied, and the paperwork didn't initially reflect that we were due an eight sea that would have to be delivered to us at at a later date.On the whole, our experience with Mr. Waldron was exceptional, and should my wife and I remain in the area, we will likely return to him when it comes time to purchase our next vehicle.

they call up practically begging to buy back my car. we made arrangements to buy a used car which fell through but then drake wouldn't give me back my title. I call several times and still no title. no one knows where it is or if it is going to be returned. this has gone on for 2 months. i'm ill and can't readily drive down there. if I didn't know better i'd think they were mentally ill. why harass an ill person to buy back their car and then keep/lose title. I've got ptsd and I assume it must have something to do with this stupid woman in philadelphia.

This was my first time ever buying a car from a dealership, and Bill called me in a timely manner to schedule an appointment after a question I had submitted about a particular vehicle I was interested in, and he also went and picked up the car so I didn't have to travel to a different location that was further away. He answered all my questions and went out of her way to solve a couple of minor concerns. After a test drive and information on their service department. I was convinced that a Honda was my next car. I have owned two new Subru and two new High Rider trucks over the past 20 years and have never received the attention to detail or friendliness that I received from Andrew. I did a lot of research, looking for a Toyota Matrix, and even though the miles on this car were more than I wanted, it was in great shape, and everything checked out on CarFax and Auto Check. James was very helpful in making sure I got this car if I wanted it, even though I had to go to another dealer before making my final decision. Buying a car always costs more than anticipated (fees add up), but James was able to answer my questions regarding the car and if he wasn't sure, he asked someone else. Berlin City Honda and James Sumislaski made the car buying experience a breeze. By generating contact via email I was able to get all the details taken care of before setting foot into the dealership. At the dealership it only took a few signatures and I was on my way....with a full tank of gas! This is my fifth vehicle purchase and the only dealership that has ever supplied gas. Dave was very helpful from the beginning to end. I couldn't make it to the dealership but pretty much knew which vehicle I wanted. He went over my other options with me and I did end up deciding on the original vehicle I was calling about. I had a trade-in and we were able to document its condition and get a price via email and phone calls. He went above and beyond getting me the best price he could on my car. Beware of the $399.00 "Theft Protection" insurance. They claim that it mandatory and it was not mentioned to me even once. It just showed up on the price. When I called about it the next day I was informed by the sales manager that "there is nothing we can do". Essentially it give you the value of the vehicle + $5000.00 if your car is stolen. It's basically like throwing $400 away--who get's their car stolen? And if you are one of the few YOUR CAR INSURANCE ALREADY COVERS YOU! Sure, you get $5000 extra but wouldn't you want to have the CHOICE about whether or not you have to pay this? I certainly don't care at all about extra money from a vehicle theft. Similarly, I wouldn't buy $5000 of life insurance for $400. This is a terrible investment and poor business. Due to this deception I would not recommend this dealership.

This is the third car I have bought at Berlin City, and it has been a very positive experience each time. This most recent purchase was only 2 months after the last car I bought there, and the sales staff and management really did bend over backwards to help me find and afford the car I needed to buy. Two months ago I bought a Honda CR-V that I liked very much, but once I was using the car on a daily basis I realized the seats were not supportive enough for me. I needed the model with electric seats, which is of course more expensive. A more expensive car plus a trade only 2 months after purchase equals a financial nightmare, and I knew it was my mistake. The sales team was very gracious and let me take my next car for an overnight test drive, to be sure the seats would work for me. Then they worked with me to negotiate a trade-in and purchase price that would make it possible for me to own the car I needed, and they really did live up to their "over the top care" motto. It sounds like marketing lingo, but everyone at Berlin City, from the sales force to the finance manager, did really make me feel like a real human being, rather than just a face to sell a car to today, and then move on to the next customer. It's very hard to find a company that actually can put those principles into practice today, and as a business owner myself I really appreciate it!

My wife and I purchased a Honda Pilot from Berlin City Honda in Portland Maine on 11.4.2012. Our sales person was Chris Cole. We went into the dealership on 10.27.12 with some uncertainty since this was our first time at this dealership. We first test drove the honda CRV and totally loved the vehicle but it did not suit our needs. We needed to tow about 2500 pounds of boat, trailer and gear, and we needed a lot of cabin space. Chris had asked us lots of questions and was genuinely interested in putting us in the right vehicle. He addressed our needs by asking questions and being attentive to us. He was friendly and there was no pressure whatsoever to buy a vehicle. All car salesmen I have ever dealt with will sell anything they can to make a sale. Chris was focused and adamant that we had to "love" the vehicle before we bought it. We actually left the dealership the first time in and returned the following week to test drive the Pilot as he had suggested, but we wanted to do some research on the Pilot before test driving and buying it. Our deal was a bit complicated because we were getting out of a honda accord lease a bit early. We haggled a bit about price but thought it was fair and we were very pleased with the deal we made. The car was prepped and ready the same day..Yeah Sunday in about 30 minutes as we were wrapping up the paperwork! Chris dealt with the insurance transfer, financing, warranties and explanation of all the vehicle features, It was a very pleasant experience. Is that possible in a car dealership? Yep. Berlin City.If you are in the market for a Honda....go to to Berlin City Honda and ask for CHRIS COLE. This salesman makes all the difference. You won't regret it.P.S, Love the Pilot. The "Salesman" failed by not having the car there to show me that I made and appointment to see 3 days earlier. I called on my way to the dealership to let him know I was on the way (2 hour trip 1 way) and he didn't check on the car before I got there. The "Customer Relations Director" which I E-mailed about the mishap, didn't have the decency to reply to me until AFTER the General Manager took over the situation and brought it to end. Both of these men should be in another line of work that doesn't involve dealing with ANY type of customer service. Lastly, the woman in the finance dept. (Kim) sent me a broken down list of all charges toward the price of the car. This showed each charge with a total and the monthly payment. When I got the paperwork, there was a $75.00 fee added to the total. I've contacted her twice, sent a copy of the form she sent me, but still haven't heard from her as to where my $75.00 overcharge is and when I can expect to be getting it back.With the exception of the General Manager, Ron McIntyre, I wouldn't recommend this dealership to anyone in the future.

My husband bought his honda at Berlin City, and so when i was in the market for a used honda, he suggested i go there- and was he right! everyone was friendly and welcoming, and then my personal salesman, Chris, put up with all of my questions and concerns for almost an entire day. He made me feel comfortable and confident during my first car buying experience, which had me over the edge with anxiety! I think all of my friends/family who are looking for a new or used honda will get sent directly to Chris by me! Unhelpful, terse customer service, who don't know much about cars or hondas policy and dont seem to care to find out. Waiting area is nasty/dirty. They always take longer than they say by A LOT! Like a 45 minute service becoming a 3 hour service. I try to avoid going here when ever possible. Since they dont seem to care about me and my time I really don't care about given them the details of the issues I have had on just 2 occasions - it would take a long time to write them all out and these folks are just not worth it.I have since purchase 2 new cars from other dealers - a subaru and a kia. The difference in those dealerships and Berlin city are like night and day. I recommend finding a good independent mechanic for all your Honda service needs and avoid the Berlin city service department.

He provided the information we needed and answered our questions in a frank manner. He did not pressure us at all. He conferred once or twice with his manager, who also talked with us and provided information and was responsive to our questions and concerns. The finance person we dealt with was also friendly and helpful. Our experience was totally positive.

Love the SUV! Only issue I have is it came from new Hampshire and there is no state inspection laws for tread depth. They brought it to Maine and only changed out one tire (the bare minimum). That is unprofessional and unsatisfactory. Now I am in the service department getting it done right! I had to purchase the other tire so that I had two matching tires . I would ha e had 3 old ones and 1 new one, and that makes absolutely NO sense!

I feel TerriAnn really went to bat for me in order to get the best financing plan available and went OVER THE TOP to ensure I was also getting the best deal on insurance. Because of her assistance my family will now be saving more than $100 a month on insurance and we'll now have double the coverage. My wife and I were looking at trading in a used vehicle for a new Honda Insight. We received an offer from a competing dealership, but thought we could do better. It took some negotiating but they were able to beat the price from the other dealer, and I felt more comfortable with the process. The cost of the vehicle was clearly laid out and even slightly higher than the KBB value, the deductions they made were also clear and reasonable, all done on a computer as opposed to the bold pen approach. This doesn't even take into effect the customer service I received, which has been the best I have received in my life. Our sales rep responded via internet that day, and even facilitated having dinner purchased for me while I waited for him to close a deal with another customer. I didn't feel pressured, or like I had to play a "game". The only thing in the process that I thought was a little off was the $399 window etching fee, but they were still able to get the cost of the vehicle below anyone else even with that fee, so I didn't really care. My car wasn't on the lot, but I can't imagine anything going wrong between the time they order and get one to arrive and now. I wish more people treated their customers this way.A fantastic dealership that I would recommend to anyone.

We had been looking at several VW Beetles but found it difficult dealing with most of the dealerships but Andrew was responsive to our request. It took a few emails, but in the end we were able to agree on a price that we could both live with. We bought the car sight unseen but with the 3 day money back if we weren't happy guarantee we pulled the trigger on the deal. The BEST car buying experience I have ever had!!!! After test driving the vehicle at a local Honda dealer (5 minutes from out home) my wife and I knew exactly the car we wanted (2012 CR-V) right down to the color. After searching multiple dealer inventories online we came across the vehicle at Berlin City, the only dealer to have the vehicle in the trim level and color combination we wanted. Our local dealer couldn't come close to the price we wanted to pay for the vehicle, you know since it's brand new this year it's a very "hot" vehicle right now (and they didn't even have one in stock). Yeah right. The typical lines I have come to expect from a car dealer.Berlin City includes a "Make an Offer" button in the inventory search and after a great deal of research on our part my wife and Iwere ready to make what we felt was a fair offer to purchase the vehicle, by the way we fully expected to be contacted and asked to come into the dealership and speak with sales after making the offer. Well, the phone rang about 5 minutes after submitting the offer and a very friendly Jesse Mulherin wanted to confirm that the vehicle we made the offer on was indeed the vehicle we wanted, verifying equipment and color combinations. After a few minutes of verification Jesse simply told us that the offer we made was reasonable and accepted. Wait, what?? Don't I need to spend hours going back and forth between sales and management, don't you need to lure me into the dealership with false expectations, don't I have to plan on spending the next week completely frustrated with the entire car buying process???? The answer to all those questions is apparently not, by the way at this point I am still not convinced this is going to be this easy. OK, a few more questions from Jesse now, do I have a trade (I didn't), when would I like to come and pick up the vehicle? Now, here's the problem and most likely the deal breaker, Berlin City is not close to me (115 miles away, yes that's 115 over 2.5 hours of drive time) and we have two very young children, me getting to the dealership would be problematic at best. I told Jesse this and he asked if we would like the vehicle to be delivered, well sure I would but how much is that going to cost me?? Jesse's response, it's complimentary, are you kidding me, after the offer I made and very little money left in the car for the dealer you are going to deliver it to my home free of charge? The answer is Yes!!! By the way, it is about 5 PM on a Thursday night right now....Next step, financing the vehicle.I can get a rate of 1.9% through my credit union but for ease let's see if the dealer can at least match the rate since I would have to spend time at my bank closing the loan. That's where Gail from finance comes in. I spoke with Gail, who was exceptionally friendly and organized, the following morning regarding the finance of the vehicle and she informed me that she was able to secure me a better rate than I anticipated, 1.75%. I do a lot of research when it's time to make a purchase this large and I can't find a rate that low anywhere. This is so easy it's weird now. We finalized the information with Gail on the phone and negotiated what I feel was a very fair price on an extended bumper to bumper warranty (out to 120,000 miles). Since the price of the vehicle was so reasonable I didn't see a reason not to add it. Gail went out of her way to make this a painless process. Time spent, about 15 minutes!! Oh yeah, as we were finishing the phone call Gail informed me that she just handed the paperwork to Gordon, the delivery driver, who was there waiting and he was on his way out the door before we hung the phone up and that they should be arriving at my home at 4:30P. Since it's a rainy / snowy Friday afternoon I don't expect Gordon is going to make it in the allotted time, but honestly I'm at home and I have time to wait so no big deal.Well, 4:30PM on the dot there is a new Honda CR-V making the corner to my house and pulling in my driveway followed by another car from the dealer. Gordon introduces himself, a very nice guy, exceptionally personable and professional. He gives me plenty of time to look around the car to make sure I am happy with the condition and we pull it into the garage. Gordon has all of the paperwork with him that needs to be signed and we spend about 20 minutes going through everything. He is able to answer all of my questions and it is really evident he knows what he is doing and is as much a part of this entire process as everyone I have dealt with previously. Paperwork complete and Gordon is on his way back to the dealership with the second driver who followed him down. Now I'm in the garage at about 7:30P checking out the new vehicle and my cell phone rings, it's Jesse from the dealership calling to make sure I was happy with the vehicle that was delivered and to make sure I didn't have any questions. Jesse said he would follow up with me in a couple of days once I had an opportunity to spend some time with the car and make sure there were no additional issues or questions that come up, I have no doubt this will happen.From start to finish all of the folks at Berlin City worked very hard to make this a very painless experience and went out of their way to ensure that all of my expectations were exceeded. I would highly recommend this dealer to anyone looking for a new vehicle, I certainly will be buying all of my future vehicles from Berlin City as they set the standard for which all car dealers should strive for.

We are very impressed with the treatment that we received at Berlin City Honda. We were looking for a vehicle with four wheel/ all wheel drive to use for utilitysituations. We needed something that was in good shape and economical. Ted Hanson was our contact in sales and called when he felt that there was something that matched our needs and fit into our budget. A month or so passed between when he had our information and we heard from him. He never forgot us, but waited until he felt that our trip wouldn't be wasted... no sales pressure or weekly calls. I found the car I wanted on line and then spoke with Rafael by phone. He was so nice by phone and helpful but not pushy. I knew just by speaking with him that I wanted to do business with him. I set up an appointment to meet with Rafael to try out the car. Rafael had personally gone over the car to make sure it was clean and ready to show us before we got there. He took the time to acquaint himself with the features of the Ford Freestyle so he could answer any questions we had. My husband was impressed with the car and with Rafael's work ethic. Randy, my husband, decided I should get the car, not just based on the car but because of how professional Rafael was.Then my Mom meet Rafael...she fell in love with him. She made up her mind that when she and Dad buy their next car she will go to Berlin City to buy. Mom said that she spoke with a few different people at the dealership and they were all very nice and friendly, a very good sign she thought of the overall management of the company.

I was in a tight situation as I needed a new (to me) car desperately, but my wife and I have had a rough year and our credit was horrible. I visited multiple dealerships and even one of the "special credit" places that specialize in working with people in my situation. I was worried about working with any dealership for I thought in my situation it would be easy for someone to take advantage of the fact that I had few options. At no time during my experience at Berlin City did I get that feeling. Brian and Cliff worked hard to make me feel like a valued customer and did all they could to get me into a great vehicle. When we found the vehicle that really fit my needs, they were very accommodating in allowing me to test the vehicle so that my wife could also take a good look at it. After all was said and done, they were able to get me into a much nicer vehicle at a much lower cost than the "special credit" dealer I had visited. they really made the whole process quite painless and fun. Would definitely recommend them to anyone I know if they are looking for a vehicle.

I walked into Berlin City Auto after my previous car had broken down and was no longer worth keeping. Brian was the first person to greet me, and is very honest and trustworthy. He helped with all of my questions and was able to get me into a car that fit within my budget and needs. Although the process was a bit lengthy, it was definitely worth it. I had been toying with the idea of trading in my 2003 Jeep for a newer more reliable vehicle but I was still on the fence. On a whim I decided to take a ride down to Berlin City yesterday and check out a 2007 Nissan Xterra that I had seen online. I didn't leave the house with the express intention to leave Berlin City with a new vehicle...I just wanted to look and keep my options open. Approx 5-6 hours later I drove off the lot with my new (to me!) Nissan Xterra and completely in love with it!! I have Chris and the rest of the team to thank for the huge smile on my face still this morning! The entire experience was amazing and so easy from start to finish. Chris was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and the financing process and really helped me feel confident about my purchase and comfortable. He really helped me get a great rate and understood the importance to keep me within my preferred monthly payment range! I never once felt like a number or felt pressured to make a decision. After the test drive and a short talk with Chris I didn't feel obligated at all to give him my business....I WANTED to give him my business!! I have bought several cars from Joe Thibodeau and the service guys, Ryan, Jeff, Brad are awesome! My recurrent issues with my brakes is always handled fairly. Jeff recently went out of his way to connect with a Honda rep to have service completed to my Honda that was out of warranty. Since I had mentioned the problem well before the expiration, the repair was covered! I think these people are awesome and these are just a couple of the reasons why. thanks again for all you do!

They have never steered me wrong and even taking the time to check for small items that a car owner wouldnt check they check and if there is an issue they call with in minutes of finding problems to ask what to do. We had originally only showed up to Berlin City Honda to look at a few cars to get an idea of what we would like to get in the near future, but after spending some time on the lot with Robin we had found an amazing car that we're in now. We were shown a few cars, and Robin was incredibly knowledgeable about the features. Was in for service and inspection when they found I'd forgotten to renew my registration. Nice man at the desk did it for me and completed the job. Took a bit longer than inspected due to a large recall making things busy but it was a positive experience overall. PLenty of cold water. I'll probably continue to use this dealer for service even if they're more expensive as I really appreciate the attention to detail.

My wife and I drive two Hondas, a 2002 Accord and a 2004 CR-V. We decided to buy Hondas after considerable market research. The overall build quality and reliability are two of the many reasons that we chose Honda. All routine services, Oil Change, Oil Filter, Wheel Balance & Alignment, Timing Belt replacement, and many other maintenance issues have always been performed by Berlin City Honda.Our Service Advisor is Brad Bartke, a valuable asset to your company. Brad is friendly, accomodating, and extremely knowledgable; qualities that engender confidence in your clientele. One day, this past week, the 'Engine and TCS Lights' suddenly appeared on the instrument panel of our 2002 Accord. I checked the Accord Owner Manual for advice, and then called Brad. He immediately understood the need for quick service and booked the car for diagnostics the very next morning. The cause of the malfunction was the VTEC Oil Pressure Switch, a part that was not normally in stock. The part was ordered and installed a day later. That, is what I call GREAT SERVICE..! While the Accord was in the shop for the VTEC part replacement, the Oil and Filter were changed, and fluids were checked. Since 2002, we have had our vehicles serviced at Berlin Honda. Each time, we were met by the best service people that we have ever met. Berlin Honda is outstanding in its choice of sales and service personnel. Unfortunately we have only two good things to say about our experience with your car dealership. One was with Cliff Rocque and his promptness in contacting us when we initially responded online to a vehicle we liked. We went in the next day to see the car, met with Cliff, but our numbers were far apart-too little for trade plus some of those admin fees seemed ridiculous such as theft protection?. We received an email(I think from the general manager) asking how our trip to Berlin City was. We responded and got no response back from him, which we consider to be unprofessional. We found out 3 days later that the car we liked had been reduced by $1000.00. Nobody called us from your place to inform us, rather we found it our ourselves scouring the internet. Wouldn't a better sales person have been keeping track of these sorts of things and reached out to people who he knew were clearly interested-easy sale. Anyway, we agreed to this new deal and came in the next day to pick it up. We had told them when we would be there and had called ahead of time with information they needed in order to run credit checks and do the necessary paperwork. Needless to say, the car was not ready and the paperwork had misspelled the name throughout which we needed to wait to have changed-for a good hour. The second compliment is to your financial person, Gayle (I think her last name is Martin)was very personable, prompt and very willing and able to help with all of the financing and paperwork. Our sales guy was no where to be found during this whole process-he was busy I'm assuming helping other customers-we literally saw him for less than 10 minutes during our two visits to your place. We asked about getting floor mats put into the vehicle-they didn't need to be expensive ones-but just something to get us through. Raphael explained that there were no floor mats. Really?? You have a car dealership but no floor mats. We found this really hard to believe and know that this is a small issue but it speaks volumes about your customer service. Bottom line-we liked Cliff and Gayle-but nothing else in between.

I was really impressed with the no pressure service I received when we went to look and test drive the car of interest to us. I was grateful that we were able to offer a price and then the sales team worked with us to come to an agreement of a purchase price. Upon decision to make purchase the finance team found financing for us at a reduced financing rate than what our credit union had offered. I was searching for a new (used) SUV and this was the 3rd dealership visited over a few week period.I wanted to test drive a Honda CRV, which I did on Saturday afternoon. Joe was a no nonsense saleperson that was no high pressure.He offered to have me take the car home and to check it out with my husband. After a further test drive, I was sold!At 5 p.m, I drove home with my new CRV. I have always driven a Ford, which this time the Ford Edge SUV was not what I was interested in. We were in the market for a new car. After visiting several dealers (of sever different brands) we ended up going back to Berlin City Honda. The salesmen were attentive but not too pushy. We were provided with the information that we needed to make our decision with being overly sold. Berlin City provided a seamless experience between salesmen. We had left the dealership and returned at a later time. The original salesman (Keith) was not there but a second salesman (Aaron) picked up where Keith had left off. There was nice team work within the dealership.

However, we found the exact vehicle we were looking for, a 2011 Honda Fit. Robin was just finishing up his day when he walked out the door. We grabbed him and asked about the car. Joe was great with us when we went in to buy our van. He was very straightforward in answering our questions about pricing and comparing different vehicles. He showed concern for how well the used cars had been cleaned. The price had been discounted for hail damage and he looked it over with us to be sure that the exterior of the car was up to their standards. I've also used this dealer when I needed work done on my Civic and their work was done well and completed in a reasonable amount of time at each visit.

I feel I was given a very reasonable price on my trade in and the financing department was very helpful as well. Everything was explained to me and still if I have a question I can just call and it is answered in seconds. I rec'd a coupon in the mail and was able to schedule an appointment for early the next morning. Scheduled regular service - oil change and tire rotation.I don't recall the names, but the gentleman who help me was friendly, and the service was quick. I was offered shuttle service, which I didn't require, but it's good to know that option is available. As a bonus, when I returned to the dealership, my car was washed ! I will certainly return for future service needs.

I took my Honda Fit in for some routine maintenance. Scheduling the work was easy and Jeff Lamore, the Service Advisor, assisted me. I saved $30 by taking advantage of a Spring Special coupon found on their website. Thw whole process was very easy and convenient. I dropped my car off at 7:15 AM and Al Grover drove me to work in their shuttle van. Al picked me up at 4:30 PM at work and took me back to the dealership.

I have purchased a car from Keith before, and had a great experience. I had been thinking of upgrading to a newer model C-RV, and was happy to hear that he was available to work with me again. We had a great test drive - I liked the feel of the newer car. Keith broke down all of the improvements that had been made since the 2005 C-RV edition. These things always take a long time - I hadn't planned on driving off the lot in a new car this afternoon, but everyone moved with a sense of urgency to make things go as quickly and smoothly as possible. I was offered refreshments several times throughout the process, and felt comfortable with how things were going. While my trade in value didn't match up with the letter that I received in the mail last week, it was fair based on Kelly Blue Book information that I had ahead of time. There's also not much room to negotiate on the new C-RV pricing, due to demand. That said, my assumptions going in involved a higher trade-in, lower purchase price (slightly), but a much higher interest rate. The 0.9% financing sealed the deal - I would have come up with the same monthly payment, but in a completely different way.TraciAnn was great as well. She made it very easy to understand what each paperwork item was about, and moved things along very well. I had a sense that she pays great attention to detail, and takes accuracy very seriously. She is very easy to talk to.I've been very happy with my Honda cars, and will continue to go to Berlin City Honda in the future.

Joe went out of his way to show us the vehicle we had seen advertised on line. While on our initial visit, the keys were not available, Joe let us test drive a new model. On our return visit, the keys were available and we were able to close the deal that day on the used car we wanted. This was not the case at Berlin City. I was treated with respect. Everyone was very friendly. I had initially started searching locally for a specific car in three color options. My local dealer said he would try to locate one but for whatever reason could not get one in. He tried to get me to buy the one on his lot, which I told him from the start that I did not like. However, I was willing to consider it if he would make a better offer. He may as well have said take the deal or leave it because that is exactly how it felt! I was very discouraged and decided to search online at Berlin City in Maine. I sent an inquiry and was contacted shortly there after by email and then a phone call. I must admit that since I live in NY I was apprehensive about buying a car without actually going to the dealership and seeing the car. However, after speaking with Mike Moran I started to feel much more comfortable. Mike was very upbeat and personable. He listened to what it was I was looking for and explained the incentives and financing being offered. The initial offer on my trade was lower than what the local dealer was offering and after talking with Mike he was able to beat their offer. Mike seemed to sincerely want to assist me with my purchase rather than just sell me a car. We exchanged several emails and had several phone conversations throughout this process. I am very happy with my new car and the way Mike assisted me. I feel that I should also mention the positive and pleasant attitude of Tracy throughout the financing process. We finalized everything on a Tuesday and my car was delivered the following afternoon. The driver was very considerate and friendly as we signed all of the paperwork. We are just waiting for the paperwork to arrive in the mail. Overall it was a very positive experience and I would recommend this dealer to others as well as return myself in the future. Thank you!!

I was looking for a new car and submitted a lot of on-line inquiries and got a lot of responses. However, after following up with the various dealers I contacted, I found that many of them did not honor the deal that was originally offered via email or there were strings attached which made the advertised price not as appealing. However, I am happy to say that that was not the case with Mike Moran at Berlin City. We exchanged a bunch of emails and had numerous calls and he gave me his best price over the phone and, when I finally got the chance to go into the dealership, the price I paid (it was a lease actually) was exactly the price Mike quoted me over the phone. No B.S., no bait and switch, no upsell attempts. Just simple, honest and straight forward. It was a welcome change from past car buying experiences. Working with the Internet Sales Manager, Michael Moran was a very easy and worry free experience. I originally went to him looking for a Honda but ending up settling on a Nissan Altima. Not only did Michael make it easy for me to shop at other Berlin City lots but he also had a car brought up from their NH dealership for me in one day. The service department went through the car and completely inspected it. Mike walked me through every step of the process, from chosing a car in my price range to the final signing. OMG...As a single woman, the experience was great. I had a party to attend, and told the dealer he was on the clock!! Ed was very laid back, I didn't feel pressure at all. He laid out all my options, and the pros and cons for each. He kept asking me what I wanted, not what HE was going to offer. I dreaded going to a dealership because of how dealers are depicted. I had visions of sitting under a bright light and not being allowed to leave until I acquiesced to something I didn't want!!!Ed was cheerful, took my concerns and criticism well; and sold me on leasing my 2010 CRV. I brought a Honda Civic from Berlin City in June and since then it has been problem after problem. First off they did all of the paperwork wrong and put the car in mothers name when the loan papers are in my name. They told us they couldnt change any of it since all the paperwork was sent to the state. Then when I went to register the car more than 3 things on the paperwork werent filled out correctly so I had to go back to Berlin City to get everything filled out again. Then about a month into having the car the AC wasnt working correctly and it was leaking into the passenger side of the car. I had to argue with them to get this covered after I paid an extra $1,200 for a Honda Care Package and it was still in the first month of me having the car. Then after looking up reviews online I went up back up to the dealership to try and cancel my Honda Care Plan. They told me that it was a bad idea and they would look into the previous problem I had with upper management and get back to me within a few days. I have called numerous times and no one will call me back. All they care about is getting their money and once you buy the car they dont care about the service they deliver to you. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone, and have told many people looking to buy cars to say away.

When I came to Berlin City on August 17, 2010, I didn't know for sure if I was going to buy a new car; I thought I might have been able to squeeze out a few thousand more miles out of my '98 Honda Civic before doing so. However, after meeting all the friendly people in the office at Berlin City (and with my mother's encouragement), I've decided that it was time to buy a new car. Needless to say, I was thrilled by how smooth my new Honda '09 Civic Sedan drives and I am pleased with all the accessories it had to offer, even though I haven't explored all of them yet. I am a single mother to a 9 month old baby, I have always driven a Honda and loved them. With the winter nearing I decided that I wanted soemthing safer, and better in the snow then my '06 Accord SE. I had started my search a few months prior at another local dealership and had such a bad experiance that I decided to put my search on hold for a bit. When I arrived at the Berlin City dealership I had NO intention of buying that day, I simply wanted to ease back in to the search for the perfect car for me and my family. When Mike Meyer approched us on the lot I was dreading the typical car sales pitch, and high pressure to buy buy buy that comes with most dealerships. However, this was NOT the case with Mike, he was very personable and down to earth, he was intrested in meeting my needs, not his sales requirements. I argeed to work with him on finding some cars that may be a good option for me, he showed me several options for my situation, as I had taken my Accord off lease and now owed more on it than it was valued for, and we determined that I wanted to stick with Honda and that the Pilot seemed to be a good option. We walked through the used inventory and weighed out the options, I never felt as though I was "stuck" and didnt want to be there.It just so happens that with Mikes help I test drove the Honda Pilot and fell in love, and the day that I went just to see what the dealers had on there lots turned out to be the day I bought my new car. NONE of this would have happened had Mike not been soo GREAT. Not only was Mike great, but when we got into the finance part of the sale Chad Gnirk was just as great. I was preparing to spend a good deal of money and he made it as painless and enjoyable as possible. He never made me feel bad or ashamed of the blemishes on my credit report as the other dealership had. All in all, I walked away not only with a car that I love, but feeling really good about the car buying experiance. Not only would I strongly recommend Berlin City, I have every intention of going back with my mother (who was at my side during my experiance), so that she can purchase her next car.I cannot say enough about the experiance I had with Berlin City, I will recommend them to friends and family and they will be the ones I go to for all my own car buying needs.

I was pleasantly surprised at what a "painless" experience it was purchasing my 08 Honda Element at Berlin City.I had done my research online and knew what I wanted and fair price etc. i had questions about a variety of issues. Norm LeBlanc was awesome. He was courteous, patient and laid back. I felt no pressure whatsoever and Norm patiently answered all my questions.I was able to get a fair sales price and the finance portion of the sale was also very positive and reasonable, again all options were offered in a non pressured way. I hadn't purchased a vehicle for over 10 years and was apprehensive about purchasing another vehicle.I will recommend Berlin City and Norm of course to friends, Family and co-workers.

I have nothing but terrific things to say about Berlin City Honda in South Portland, ME. When I mentioned to my boss that I was thinking about buying a newer, more efficient car to commute to my new apartment he suggested I talk to his "car guy". I had, in the past, purchased all my vehicles from the same dealership and have been very loyal to them. I have now discovered the difference between a good car buying experience and a GREAT car buying experience.I talked to Matt (MY new car guy now!) a little on the phone about what I was looking for, what I wanted, and how I was planning on using my new car. He listened very well, offered up a few options that met my criteria, and proceeded to gather them together in preperation of my visit in the afternoon. From the moment I pulled into a parking spot on their lot I was impressed. I was greeted right at the curb with a friendly welcome by one person and the door was held for me by another. The important thing to say about that is that I didn't feel POUNCED ON by salespeople! Meeting Matt, I was very impressed with his energy and friendliness! We drove a couple of cars, talked some numbers, but I had to have some extra time for consideration. Matt and the managment crew understood that buying a car is a major decision for most people and didn't pressure me or make me feel bad about taking the night to think about it. I came back the next day, we talked some more about the numbers, and finally I felt solid, sure, and excited about buying my new car! The rest of process was smooth and enjoyable.I think what I appreciate the most about Matt and the Berlin City crew is that I don't feel like a number. With my old dealership after the sale, I was always directed to the service department with any questions or issues. I gave Berlin City 2 opportunities to sell me a CR-V. Once in late September and again more recently in late November. Each time, I have walked away disgusted. In my initial experience, I arrived at the dealership after agreeing to a price for the new vehicle via e-mail. While the sales consultant was expecting me, I walked into an empty showroom, and waited for 10-15 minutes while I watched who I presumed to be sales consultants/mangers playing ball in the next building. In order to obtain some assistance, I placed a call on my cell phone to the dealership to let them know I was sitting in the showroom. After being lowballed on my trade-in, the sales manger attempted to use some funky math such that when it was all said and done, the new price was higher than what was initially promised. I walked out. During my second attempt, there was an initial lack of responsiveness to my e-mails which was attributed to systems issues. Once communication was established, I was told the Portland location had the specific color CR-V I was looking for however when questioned further, this particular vehicle was coming from New Hampshire likely to have 200 miles on it by the time I went to purchase. I also questioned the ridiculous $379 "anti-theft" fee which to me, is a non-optional option. You can buy a kit for $50 if you want to etch a code in the window of your vehicle. E-mail communications lacked professionalism, were agressive, and resorted to some sleazy tactics telling me about how Berlin City is entitled to make a profit (no argument there) and they "are a dealership that needs to keep their lights on". Gag me. I do too. I was told I was being given a very "aggressive" price but what is actually quite hilarious is that the price quoted to me by Berlin City in November was over $1000 more than what Berlin City quoted me in September (before the funky math) and $800 more than what I ultimately ended up paying for the same exact vehicle with only 26 miles on it (and where I received $1000 more than originally offered by Berlin City for my trade) in the Portsmouth, NH area-well worth the drive.

From the fist moment I waked in I recieved a friendly smile introduction and hand shake from Scott. From there he sat down and went over the options available. I looked at a civic, and then the accord in the show room, as soon as I sat in the accord the civic was out, the accord all the way. I took the accord for a test drive and decided the car was for me. After a week or so I decided to purchase the car, the price was right after the few discounts that were offered. Everyone there was very personable and took an interest in me and the car that I was purchasing, making me feel appriciated and that my business was important. I had a very positive buying experience at Berlin City Honda. The staff was knowledgeable about the vehicle I wanted. As a former Prime Auto customer I was pleased with the professional environment at the showroom. Berlin City didn't play games when discussing the price and was considerate of my time. Prime was just the opposite. It took Prime 4 hours to get to the point of making a serious offer. It took Berlin City less than an hour. Like I said, Berlin City didn't play any games.

The whole process was quick and I never felt like I was being "played", an approach that's common with many dealerships. I came prepared and knew exactly what I wanted and was willing to pay for it and they seemed almost seemed to appreciate that.The Finance Manger (wish I could recall his name) was very friendly and processed my paperwork in less than 25 minutes. I was thrilled to say the least. I drove 3 different cars, negotiated the sale and signed the paperwork in about two and half hours. That's what I want in a dealership.

I had arrived at the sales floor while my 2006 Ridgeline was in for warranty service and decided to test drive a few cars. I was quickkly greated by Benjamin Yeaton and I explained to him that I had my truck in service (as to not waste a salesman's time) but that I was interested in looking at some more efficient vehicles. Benjamin was more then helpful. He asked what my driving habits were. He started me in a Fit (which I liked), then we tried a the Insight which I hated) and then we stumbled upon a barely used 2009 Civic-which I loved. During the test drive of the Civic, I actually began to consider giving up my truck. Benjamin reinforced my feelings by stating how strong of a trade-in value the Ridgeline had. Benjamin submited my deal as I wanted it and it was not accepted by the sales manager- but Benjamin thanked me for My time and said that he would keep me posted should prices move more toward where I wanted them to be. I phoned Benjamin later that evening and told him of an offer from another dealership. Benjamin said that he would be in touch with his sales manager and that I should expect a phone call the next day. I did recieve a call at 8:30 A.M. from the sales manager and a deal I could not refuse was presented.I love my new Civic! Benjamin did a great job converting scheduled matinence into a new "used" sale. My wallet is appreciating the better mpg's too!highly recommended dealership and salesman!

Berlin City did not live up to their philosophy of keeping it simple. We spent four hours working to a deal. Their orignal "Best Offer" was insulting at best. We did purchase the vehicle. However, I still do not believe it was the best deal they could have given us. The salesman Robert was great. I also appreciate the time that the General Manager, Adil, took with us. However, the deal offered through the Sales Manager or Assistant General Manager Chris was horrible and we almosted walked away as a result.

I have bought several vehicles in the past from various family dealerships and have always been totally pleased with my experiences. Never again will I buy from a big auto mall. Their motto is "over the top care by down to earth people." That is such a total farse as I received no customer care whatsoever. The minute they have their money in hand they want nothing more to do with the customer and will not even return your phone calls. I have never had a such a frustrating experience in my life. I received nothing but the run around from the finance dept to the general manager himself. I was lied to repeatedly, and found the staff that I dealt with to be totally arrogant, unorganized and unprofessional. They are not willing to admit and accept their mistakes and instead get angry and huffy when customers are not satisfied. If you are smart you will never ever buy from Berlin City Auto dealerships.

I went into the dealership knowing that with my credit the way it is I would probably be denied but thought I will take a chance and maybe it would work out. I told them at the beginning that I was aware of my credit. I sat down to go through the process with Joe. As we sat to begin Joe's cell phone rang and he answered it, never once excusing himself! While he continued to ask for my information he stayed more engaged in his personal life then work life. I didn't understand him when he had asked for my phone number and thought at first he asked whomever on the phone "do you r'memba", then he looked at me and said very loudly and in a mean tone, "I asked you your phone number". While he was still on the phone he was repeating my number and the other person could hear him. (I had information written down on a small post it) At this point I said I think that this should continue another time since I was intruding on his phonecall. He said to me loud and mean enough so that all 3 customers and a 4th just walking in heard him, along with the other salesmen in the room, "you're not getting a car so get out of here", and next thing I saw on his screen was a credit report. I made a call and was advised to call a friend who is a para-legal to ask about legal guidance. They told me they were 98% sure that Joe breached confidentiality. I came home and sent an email to Berlin City saying I would like to speak with someone who oversee's Joe. David called me first thing in the morning and said he would talk to Joe and let him know this is not acceptable behavior. David also said to me that the cell phone was one the company gives the sales team. I don't know of any company giving employees an Iphone, with the ringtone "bad to the bone". I am not at all upset I didn't get a vehicle, I knew the possibility was there when I went in. I am very upset that I was more then respectful of Joe and he treated me like dirt. I think that being able to express the horrible experience on here is more then enough at this point to show the dealership how poorly their employee acted on their behalf. On a better note, I did call another dealership's GM and asked about my experience at Berlin and who I could contact to tell this story. They gave me this website and even better, they took all my information and I will be driving a gas saving vehicle thanks to a caring dealership!!

I wanted to buy a new car that was fuel efficiant and safe. I tried both the Fit and the Insight by Honda, and njoyed the Fit for its roomy interior and look. Joe was very patiant with me and my boyfriend (this was my very first brand-new car). There was no pressure from him, and he answered any questions truthfully and had a knowledge of both cars. I am still enjoying my new Fit very much!!!

When I heard about the CARS program I decided that I could possibly afford a new car. I began my search by researching vehicles online. I picked out 3 different cars that would fit my needs and then started to check online for dealers in my area that had these cars. Berlin City very quickly replied to my email. Although the cost of the Fit was a little more than I had originally wanted to pay, Jerel's response to my email stating how much I hoped to pay was quick, informative, and pleasant. After a little more research, I decided to purchase my new car from Jerel and Berlin City. A very positive experience overall. Everyone we saw at Berlin City was very friendly even though it was the first day the CARS money was released and they were extremely busy. I am sorry to say that I am unable to remember the name of the finance man we worked with, for he was excellent at his job as well.

I went to Berlin City hoping to test drive a few cars and figure out a good fit for myself. I am a woman, and just assume that a car salesman will try and "push" me around and not take me seriously. The complete opposite happened at Berlin City. I sat down with Mike and instantly felt comfortable with him. He was very funny, yet realistic. He made the whole procedure very enjoyable. I actually spent a whole day there and ended up walking away with the perfect car for me. The management team (Guy from Arizona) was also very wonderful, again...not pushy and very understanding that I had a budget that I needed to stay within. Damien in finance was friendly and somehow made the process of signing your name 100 times enjoyable as well. The entire staff at Berlin City did a wonderful job and made buying a car a very easy and enjoyable process. So thank you so much!

Dave Belliveau was a great help in our search for our new used car. He was responsive, but not aggressively so, the moment we emailed Berlin City about the car we were interested in, and he made it easy to visit that day. He was reasonable in discussing the offer we made and took our suggested price seriously. We've commented several times to each other afterward that he didn't seem like a car salesman: he was open, interested most in helping us find the right car, and did not pressure us to make any decision. It was a pleasure to work with an attentive, smart, respectful person with a low-key approach; that counts for a lot. Good for Berlin City for hiring him.Dave's genial approach was in stark contrast to that of Jason Gannon, the finance manager we dealt with. When we got to Jason's office, we discovered that he had confused our paperwork with that of another customer; he had us in the database as having purchased a different, and much more expensive, car. He rushed to reprint our documents, but the dealer certificate we ended up with still had the wrong price (he told us that it didn't matter). His approach overall was much more aggressive and typical of what one would expect to encounter in a car dealership. We know that part of a finance manager's job is to try to sell additional packages and warranties (none of which we bought), but when a customer refuses these straight off, a finance manager might want to try a respectful rather than confrontational approach. When we rejected his offer of extended coverage, he said, "What do you think is going to happen to the cost of labor five years from now? Is it going to go up or down?" That's simply an insulting question. Our experience in his office caused us to leave the dealership with a bad taste in our mouths--which was too bad, as the rest of our experience was so positive.

Steve Gendron is the absolute best. He listens to the customer and works to find a vehicle to fit a budget or need. This is the 3rd vehicle we have purchased from Berlin City Honda and Steve, we think that speak volumes about him.I was concerned that when we went to financing we were offered and extended warrantee and refused to purchase it. When Damien said he was sorry we waited so long and we were return customers and he would give us the lower end warrantee. But, thinking about what he said at a later time, he said he moved our term from 66 months (of which we agreed to purchase the car) to 72 months keeping our payment the same. Folks, that was not a deal since it was just tacked on to the load and extended the term. I feel not matter what, the agreement with the sale team should carry to the finance person unless it is made crystal clear what the changes would be.

I have nothing but good things about to say about my recent 2010 Honda Pilot purchase from Berlin City in Portland, ME. My search for a dealer began online and I was given a fair price right from the start (I continued to shop around to compare) I live in southern Maine, equidistant from about 5 different Honda Dealerships. They gave me a fair price on my trade and tried very hard to earn my business by also making it a pleasant experience and with constant yet "non pushy" follow up. I should also mention that I did the deal while my husband was away on business and was always taken seriously and treated respectfully by the sales team. I can not say the same of other dealerships that I spoke to during my initial search. I even had one tell me they couldnt give me a quote on a car that wasn't even out yet...but I should come in to the dealership anyways. When it came time for the signing of papers we brought our four children and they were also made to feel at home, treated kindly and with respect. Each and every one of the people that we came in contact with was considerate of our time, friendly and listened to what we were trying to accomplish, and by meeting those needs, earned our business. It is such a pleasure to deal with a company that knows how to treat its customers and potential customers. A simple concept that I am constantly amazed seems to be lacking in many companies now a days. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a car. Gary was the 1st salesman we met when arriving at the lot. He was very easygoing and knowledgeable. He had only been selling Honda's at this location for a couple of weeks, and so was being overseen by Joe. They were both very helpful at describing the features of our car. They would get an A+ in my book. The reason for the "Good" ratings above were that it took us about 3 hrs. to get through the paperwork baloney to complete the purchase--we weren't even trying to haggle on price. It seems the purchase work could go a lot smoother if we could deal with a single person instead of all the runaround going back and forth between our salesman and 2!! managers, plus the finance guy. I could see it if we were trying to get a better price, but they just wear you out. It was helpful that the "extra" people were friendly and knowledgeable as well, but the process itself would be rated "Bad" or "OK". Not sure how it it w/ other dealers.

We were so impressed and pleased to run into Mel Hatch -- an honest, funny, and well-informed salesperson -- that we decided to purchase our car in Maine, not New York State, where we live. If you need to buy a car, and drive Hondas, Mel Hatch is an exceptionally good salesperson. So too are some of her colleagues, particularly Scott Walker and Damien Sieg. Friendly, courteous, and accomodating.....they pay attention to what you say.Labor cost is an issue in these hard economic times. Maine, in general, does not pay well (lower standard of living) so it becomes increasing harder to work with (go to) a "certified" dealer.

I leased our Honda Pilot 3 years ago and when the lease came up, my husband and I casually drove over to the dealership one day to look at our options. We met Melissa right away and she was fantastic. We decided to purchase our Pilot and Melissa walked us through each step, even calling me with reminders. (Being a new mother and lack of sleep due to it, I really appreciated it!) Melissa is one of the many excellent employees at Berlin City Honda. Everyone we have met with (sorry to forget names otherwise I'd list all of you) from sales to service to finance is exceptional. This is every visit we have had, I appreciate the consistency. !!!!!DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!!!! LIERS - CONTRACT BREAKERS - TYPICAL USED CAR DEALERI went into this dealer to look for a potential used Honda Pilot. I met with Jerel who did a great job and was informative and helpful. After we met with Jerel, we went to Terry, who Lied, WENT BACK ON A SIGNED CONTRACT, and then dared to tell me that he needed ME to drive all the way back out there (instead of sending a driver because it was ging to cost him $125) to sign new paperwork because he couldnt find a bank that would accept the contract that we had signed. In stead of sending a driver to me with the paperwork, he dicided he was going to back on the $2500 cash back he promised and reduced our loan time, AND when we said NO and returned the vehicle, he had to call the banks and explaine why, he Lied to them and told them that we couldnt come up with the money and WE backed out of the dealwhen we purchased from a differant dealer, they had a hard time talking to banks becuase of what TERRY told them!

I first test drove a new Honda Pilot at Berlin City Honda a couple of months ago with sales guide Steve Gendron. Steve was friendly and helpful. I was comfortable asking him questions and was not pressured by him at all. When I finally decided to make a purchase I contacted Berlin City Honda and worked with sales guide Joe Thibodeau. Joe was able to answer all my questions and quickly responded to my many phone calls and emails. I recently went to Berlin City Motor's Honda dealership in South Portland, Maine, and gave a salesman my debit card so the dealership could take $500 from my checking account as a deposit. A few days later I found that Berlin Motors had taken not $500 from my checking account, but $1,000. They became aware of what they had done at about 9 a.m. today, a sales manager told me when I called, but did not tell me about it. The sales manager said he'd look into it and try to find out why it happened. I told him I wasn't interested in finding out why it happened; I wanted my $500 back, right away. He called back within half an hour, late in the afternoon, and told me about how they'd known about their error for more than six hours (without telling me on their own initiative), and that it would take 24 hours for the return of my $500 to appear in my checking account. He also told me he would immediately email me all the documentation relating to this transaction to verify that Berlin Motors had actually returned my $500 when he said they had. He didn't do it. And my checking account is still $500 light. My advice? Be hesitant about giving anyone at Berlin Motors your debit or credit card. You don't know what they'll do with it.
