Al Travis is the man to see here. No pressure tactics and totally patient with me (this was my first ever car purchase). He took his time answering all my questions and explaining the process to me, and was more than willing to pull a different car for me to test drive when the one I initially wanted didn't work out. Fortunately, Crippen has a great selection of certified pre-owned cars in my price range. Working with Scott Kemp was like working with an old friend. No high-pressure come ons or shaddy tactics. Scott is exactly what you want when looking for car. I felt very comfortable choosing a car knowing there were all high-quality options and I didn't have to worry about separating the chafe from the wheat like I would at some of the larger-inventory dealers in the Grand Ledge area. Wow! From the moment I walked in to the moment I left with my new vehicle, I was wowed by the buying experience. My sales person Scott Kemp was available by text which made it easy and convenient to communicate, even while at work, which sped up the process as well. He listened to what I needed and wanted and turned that into something that fit in my budget and is the nicest vehicle I've ever had! Once the vehicle arrived i only spent about a half hour doing the paper work process. I felt like all the annoying, time consuming and boring parts were done for me before i even arrived on the last day! This is the 3rd car I've purchased from Scott Kemp at Crippen. He's always been very informative and helpful! This time around was no different. I picked out a 2016 Terrain that I quickly fell in love with and had to have. I scheduled a time to bring my husband in to test drive it. When we arrived Scott let me know the Terrain I wanted had just been sold by another sales person right before we arrived. He had the same Terrain with all the same options ready for us to test drive but it was a 2017. We returned from our test drive ready to tell Scott that it wasn't meant to be since the 2016 was gone. I knew the 2017 was going to be a higher payment than I wanted at this moment in time. To my surprise, Scott let me know that he found the exact 2016 Terrain that I had my heart set on with one package difference. When getting a new vehicle for your wife, the salesman walks a fine line, satisfy the wife without spending too much of the husband's money. Scott is magnificent at this effort. He was able to answer all my technical questions and make recommendations. He also listened to my wife intently and then found the right vehicle about 80 miles away. Had a few minor issues with the car which were dealt with swiftly and to my satisfaction. They made sure that things were "made right" and made sure I was satisfied. In 2016 I decided it was time to purchase a new vehicle and wanted to purchase a new GMC Acadia Denali. I had a bad experience at the dealership near my home with deceptive pricing. When I saw the used Toyota Corolla listed at Crippen I thought I had to check it out even though it was 1 1/2 hour drive. I had a great experience with the salesman Rodney Sumpter through out the whole process. He was low key. I hate high pressure salesmen. I had a great experience getting my 2016 GMC Terrain. It was all a quick and painless process. As soon as I called I got a quick answer and set up a meeting. Upon arriving at the dealership I was greeted by the nice receptionist and offered coffee or water. I was actually offered coffee and water by about 4 different people, great customer service! Jim Lawler did a great job helping me lease my vehicle. They offered me a price that no other dealer could beat, and I had been going to other dealerships all day long. This is the first vehicle I have ever leased, and Jim made the process easy for me. He listened to what I wanted in a vehicle and set me up in the perfect Terrain. Chad Eley worked with me as well and helped me get my credit approved fast. When I returned the next day to pick up my car, Jim explained all the controls in the car to me and helped me set up my onstar. Mr. Crippen even stopped by to meet me and say congratulations on my new car. All of the staff there were great and kept me laughing the whole time. My car was sparkling clean and had a full tank of gas. Needless to say I had a wonderful experience at Crippen GMC and would highly recommend it to anybody.

I have been to many dealerships over the years with our many moves. I have ceased to be impressed with the service provided in their repair shop. The advisors are very attentive and make you feel important. They never make you feel dumb like some do. I have always brought our Buick back to Crippen rather than looking for a cheaper, non-dealership shop simply because of their great service and reasonable pricing. This is ironic because I drive all the way across town to take my Jeep for service (even a simple oil change) because the Jeep dealership down the street made me feel just the opposite of what Crippen Buick makes me feel.

I immediately drove to the dealership, from Jackson, where Al took a copy of my license and handed me the keys and I was on a test drive in less than 5 minutes. He is knowledgeable, personable and low pressure. My first purchase with him was in March and was so stress free, when I purchased again in August, I made sure Al would be handling my transaction. It was great to see him again and catch up about our summers since I saw him in March. For the second purchase, I was busy with my work schedule and not available in Lansing much that week. Monday 7/21/2015. I had just come from two other dealerships looking for a new car. This was the only dealership where a Sales Person greeted me when I walked in. Michael Gibbs introduced himself and ask how he could help. I told him I was looking for a Mazda 3 and didnt know much about them, other than what I found on Consumer Reports. Also said I saw a Red one in their online inventory. He then explained a little about the Mazda 3s and showed me the different models and options in their sales brochure. He looked up the Red one and brought it around for a test drive. Turns out it was a Mazda 3 s Grand Touring 5-Door. We both went for the test drive. Very impressive car. When we got back I told Michael it was way more car than I was looking for, but I really liked it. Needless to say a deal was made and I bought the car on the spot. Due to my work schedule and owning a Model Train Store, Michael offered to deliver the car to my home several days later, some 35 miles south of Lansing. An Outstanding buying experience. Will definitely be back for my next car.

I've been to many dealerships over the years and have always felt pressured when just looking at vehicles. This was not the case at Crippen. We had brought our Mazda in to be serviced and had a great experience with the guys in the shop, that we decided to give the sales guys a chance. Rhodney was fantastic, we never felt pressured to look at anything expensive, he was very nice. Chad who was the finance manager was wonderful. He helped get us a great deal with the bank for financing. I will definatly come back here first when shopping for our next car.

When we went back last week to purchase another vehicle, nothing had changed....it was still a great experience from the sales to the financing. We like Al's low key, no pressure approach to sales. We like the way he attended to the smallest of details, with a smile. We like Crippen's overall approach to making everything transparent, including handing you the Carfax report without even having to ask for it and making it clear how they came up with the price (we bought a certified, pre-owned vehicle). They also have a nice range of different makes of used vehicles, which reduces the amount of time one has to run around or spend searching on the Internet. Long story short, we would go there again. We hope the next time we need to vehicle, Al Travis is there to help us through the process.

Buying a new car can be a stressful experience. The last two cars I have purchased I have done over the internet (one new, one used) and done the negotiation via email. With my recent purchase of a 2015 Mazda CX-5 from Crippen Auto, I used a combination of the two, and the experience was wonderful. I interfaced both in person, and via email with Al Travis, the sales person at Crippen, and after a couple of test drives and a couple of emails we smoothly came to a deal that I believe was a win-win for all. My jeep was 10 years old and had some rust on the bottom, on the test drive we noticed that a part was rusted through and they completely replaced the part right there. At the dealership I used to frequent for my previous vehicle, I always felt like I had to be on guard so that I wasn't snowed by the salesman or service department. Not so with Crippen Mazda. I was absolutely thrilled with the customer service rep, Art, as well as the manager Lee, when my CX-9 needed repairs. I felt as though there was no one else they were working with (though I'm sure I wasn't the only one!), I felt the customer service rep cared about me, my car and making sure I was taken care of, and most of all, I had that gut instinct they were honest. Just plain honest. I don't think there can be a higher recommendation when it comes to a dealership and it's employees. Thank you to the repair technician who didn't try to talk me into new brakes and recommended a simple re-milling of the rotor. I walked away with a positive experience, and that is NOT something I can say of the previous dealership (though different maker). I love my CX-9. And I love Crippen Mazda. So you can bet I'll be back not only for any needed repairs, but to buy my next car there!

I chose Crippen because they earned my trust in the service department. I used to avoid taking my car to a dealership for service, until I took my Grand Prix in to Crippen for service (years ago). I dealt with Mark Bechtol on my first service visit and he was wonderful. The work was done well, on time and for the price quoted so I decided to stay with Crippen for my service work. My experience only got better as time went on.I was so pleased with Mark and the service department that I ended up using Crippen Service for every bit of service on my old Grand Prix--even oil changes. So when it came time to trade up, Crippen was the logical choice.Mark Doherr was my sales rep on the purchase of my new Verano and he was amazing. Easy going from the start, Mark never rushed me, pushed me or made me feel compelled in any way (which would have driven me away). He seemed to know that I needed to make up my own mind and he simply provided me with information and allowed me to decide. He was extremely knowledgeable and guided me through all the features of the new Verano once I narrowed my search. This was very important to me because my Grand Prix was 15 years old so the technology had changed dramatically since my last purchase. Mark Doherr simply couldn't have done a better job making the whole process flow smoothly.I will (and do) tell everyone I know that Crippen is the place to buy a car as well as getting all their service done.

My vehicle was towed in after service hours. I spoke with the operator the following morning, told her what occurred with the vehicle, gave her my contact information and authorized the diagnosis. Given that customer satisfaction is important given the competition between dealerships and auto service centers, I feel it would benefit Crippen if the service customer waiting area would be upgraded to be more comfortable for those who are waiting. The area hasn't changed for several years, and is noisy, cramped, used as a walk way, cold in the winter, and doesn't reflect a good image. So far the service I have received has been good.

I had a 5 pm appointment for an oil change on a Thursday. Waited about 45 minutes, but was told that they were short of technicians, had customers with extenuating repair issues and they could not get me in that night. I came back on Monday. Service was completed within 30 minutes, including a free tire rotation that the manager threw in due to being inconvenienced on the other appointment day. Excellent, quick and effective repair of a shifter problem that would not let me shift into park or remove the key which resulted in a dead battery overnight. I had to jump the battery to start the vehicle and get to the dealership. The loaner was GREAT too.

The more competive prices and specials we keep me getting oil changes and tire rotations at Crippen rather than the "instant oil change companies" .
