I'm happy to share this terrific story of an a recent experience me and my family had with the service department at Don Miller Subaru. The Service Advisor I'm sharing about is, Steve Roberts. Steve was the unbelievable kind man who really helped us out by putting a new alternator in my daughter's 2010 Subaru Forrester when we had no where to turn. I can't begin to tell you how grateful we were. We had 2 days (Weds/Thursday) to move my daughter into her apartment, from out of town, in an unfamiliar city, no mechanic contacts, no other form of transportation nearby, and a failing alternator....and somehow we were fortunate enough to run into Steve. He could have easily told us they couldn't help us or over charged us for repairs, but he didn't. Instead he was caring, actually put in the alternator for us, didn't charge us a dime, and was happy to help a stranger out in need. For that, we are eternally grateful. I'm still telling people about it, and have instructed my daughter to always call Steve at Don Miller's service shop should she have any problems with her vehicle while in the Madison area. And I'm pretty sure his act of kindness, will garner a future vehicle sale to her when the time comes. In a world filled with people waiting to take advantage of a situation, it's good to know people like Steve still exist. Thanks again Steve, you are appreciated! Sincerely, the Wright's

Jim Alfano helped me the other day to pair my bluetooth system that was not working due to an Iphone update. He knew just how to do it quickly and expertly where another salesman had failed. He also set the clock which was still on daylight savings time. I have not mastered how to do this yet but he did in a minute. These services were very important to me and he helped me greatly and I am very appreciative for his kind help.

Jim Alfono knows a lot about cars, especially the Subarus he sells. He takes time to carefully and completely explain the technical features of the Subarus. At delivery, he made sure that the car was in perfect shape (he hand-dried it after it got rained on!) and spent a lot of time showing us how to operate the cars featuresincluding talking us through pairing our garage door opener and our smart-phones with the cars systems. Jim Alfano impressed me greatly back in June when he suggested the right Crosstrek model for me based upon my wishlist even though he knew I wasn't ready to buy then. Just prior to that I had visited my local Jeep dealer to do preliminary shopping and they wouldn't give me the time of day. When I was ready to buy a car in October I drove 6 hours just to buy the car from him rather than the 2 hours to my nearest Subaru dealer. And communications due to the distance were fantastic!

In 2011 I purchased a Subaru Outback from Dennis with a minimum of fuss and trouble. It was a good memory when I needed another Suby after I sold my 2011 to my daughter who, by the way, loves it. So I started with Dennis and didn't need to go any further. I told him what I wanted and he showed me what he had. I wanted the new lapis colored 2016 Outback in a 2.5i model. He was able to get exactly what I wanted from the Don Miller East. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to so my shopping experience went fairly quickly. He explained the new features and compared the 2011 and 2016 models so I could see the similarities and differences. I have mentioned to several people how much I like my new blue Subaru and told them they should go talk to Dennis.

I had good experiences in the past purchasing a new 2004 Legacy and a 1992 grand Voyager. When my wife and I walked in we were fortunate to meet Dennis Riddle. We were looking for a new car which had new safety technology. Dennis guided us and explained the benefits of the Outback versus other vehicles in a fair and honest fashion that helped us in making a decision to purchase the Outback over other autos we looked at. He patiently spent time with us in understanding how to operate the new technology after we had already purchased the car. We have had the car for a few months and find the ride extremely comfortable for long trips and convenient and easy to handle for in-town driving.

This was my first car-buying experience, and I was a bit nervous I'd get swindled because of that, but Jim Alfano was as helpful and transparent as any car salesperson I could imagine. He was honest, genuine, and kind, and he really made an effort to understand my budget and cared about saving me money in any way possible. I would recommend asking for him immediately if you don't like dealing with the cheesy and obnoxious pitches of most car salespeople. He really knows his cars--was a mechanical engineer for most of his life! So he's not going to provide your typical dealership experience, but he'll give you something better.

I bought a Subaru Outback in another state 8 months ago, then discovered that Wisconsin requires both a front and rear license plate. When I called in at Don Miller Subaru West, I was met by Jim Alfano to whom I explained I needed a front license plate put on the car. Jim was friendly and straightforward and went immediately to get tools to put the plate on for me. He then noticed that there were a number of squashed bugs on the front of the car and then went off to get something to clean that area for me before attaching the plate. When finished with the plate, Jim showed how knowledgeable he is by answering several rather obscure questions I had about the car. Jim was efficient and friendly throughout. It was altogether a superior experience such as is rarely to be found at a car dealership. Jim Alfano is certainly an asset to Don Miller Subaru West.

I just recently bought a new 2016 Subaru Outback from Don Miller Subaru West. My salesman was York Bleyer, who is very thorough in his work and provided great service. He allowed us to test drive multiple vehicles and took great care in getting us the car we wanted. This dealership showed a lot more attention to detail than others and proactively takes time to explain everything about your car after you buy it, unlike other dealerships that just let you drive off without further explanation after your purchase. I would definitely recommend both the dealership and York to others that are thinking about a car purchase.

I basically shopped both Don Miller dealers in Madison. Both, would not let me anywhere near a WRX unless they had a deposit in hand. I may be under 30, but I had the cash to spend on the car anytime and I really think they just judged me based on age and said no. I was not looking to test drive to beat the car, just wanted to compare to the GTI that Zimbrick had no problems letting me get behind the wheel of (and encouraged me to beat on). Overall, never called or checked in after I inquired about the WRX.

I went to Don MIller for the Subaru Legacy. While the car was very nice and was one of my top choices, the experience with the sales consultant (Matt G.) was just plain dull and lacking, especially when compared to the customer service I received at two other local dealerships. It always felt like the sales consultant just didn't connect with what I was asking, or what I was interested in, and instead provided me with generic sales pitches about the car. Even meeting with the sales manager wasn't much better. When it came time to get a quote, they were unwilling to budge on the first number they gave me, which was higher than quotes I had collected from other Subaru dealerships. It was basically a "take it or leave it price", with no apparent wiggle room. On the contrary, the other dealerships were willing to work with me on pricing, and even took into consideration the other quotes I had gotten online from dealerships and price-quoting services. They even helped to thoroughly explain the numbers to me, which I never felt like the Don Miller team was willing to do. I would've bought the Legacy had the sales team just worked with me a little bit, but ultimately, they made it seem like I was just another customer in this long line of Subaru buyers. The other dealerships worked harder at getting my business, and making me feel like they wanted me as a life-long customer of theirs. If I ever consider buying a Subaru in the future, I'll probably travel outside of Madison just to avoid going to Don Miller.

First of all I would love to explain my purchase of a WRX at age 51, its simple I've wanted one for 20 years and I loved the new body style. I purchased this car on March 7th 2015. I have been dealing with Don miller Subaru service for about 2 or years. My family drives gmc products but we still go there. The staff at Don Miller Subaru on Odana Road take very good care of my family's vehicle. The staff is always very friendly and they provide excellent service there prices are very good. I highly recommend Don Miller Subaru on Odana Road to anyone looking for a service center that will take care of your automotive service needs. I won't take my vehicles anywhere else. They also have good cookies and hot chocolate in the nice waiting room. Need a ride while your vehicle is being service no problem they have that coveted also.

We chose a 2015 Subaru Outback in Twilight Blue, which turned out to be difficult to find with the trim package we wanted. Todd Kent and the Don Miller staff found the car 800 miles away and had it flat-bedded to Wisconsin for us. We have purchased a lot of new cars over the years, but I don't think ANY dealership has worked this hard for us.

My husband's 2005 Subaru Forester lost air conditioning in July of 2012. We had difficulty with the dealership charging us and not fixing the problem. After my first review on this site they contacted us and have resolved the problem by installing a new compressor and subtracted some of what we had originally paid for not fixing it in the past. We are happy with the work so far. I am still rating them average as the customer service only changed when they saw my post. They have called us and followed up this time where they did not do so the first two times the car was in. I will leave the quality of work below average as we feel their mechanics should have figured out the problem the first or second time the car was in.

I had a great experience working with Dennis Riddle. I knew I wanted a Subaru for the quality of the AWD, but wasn't sure between Impreza, Crosstrek, and Forester what would give the best balance of comfort, performance, efficiency, and cargo space. Dennis very patiently helped me test out an Impreza, a Forester, and both the gas and hybrid Crosstrek models while talking through the differences and his past personal experiences with the ones that he'd owned. The experience was extremely pleasant - Dennis was clearly interested in getting me into the car that best fit my needs and was never pushy or salesy, even though it was a busy Saturday. My experience with Dennis was definitely a refreshing change from the usual high-pressure sales barrage of car shopping.

We had very little time, and Todd found a vehicle that met our specifications. He came in on his day off to make sure the loan application process was going smoothly. My previous car's timing belt failed. I am married with 3 active kids and we have a very busy life. We needed another car ASAP. I knew I wanted a Subaru, and I had a lot of questions. My salesman Ryan knew the situation and easily could have put the screws to me. I experienced the opposite. No pressure at all. Ryan was very knowledgeable about the cars he is selling and was able to answer all of my questions. John handled the financing, and while I was offered all of the usual extras--when I declined one there was no pressure at all. I had a very good experience at this dealership and with these two gentlemen specifically. I hope all of my future interactions with this dealer are as pain free as this one.

My wife and I first bought a new 2013 Outback from Andrew in March, knowing that we needed a car that A) would hold a car seat better than my truck or her tiny Civic and B) had better traction/all-wheel drive for future Wisconsin winters. The test drives and sales process were incredibly smooth and all of our questions got answered quickly and honestly, and we got a fair price for trading in the Civic. We left with our new Outback happy as could be. Then, in June, my wife and mother-in-law got T-boned by a guy who ran a red light - our new car (less than 2k miles) was totaled. Both side airbags went off, keeping my wife, unborn daughter, and mother-in-law from any permanent injury. The insurance company got us a rental for a week, but we knew that we definitely wanted another Outback as soon as could be. I called Andy up and gave him the story, and he immediately got to work looking for a replacement vehicle. He called me back later the same day, having found an Outback identical to the one we had lost, with one exception (that he said he would give us at cost). John from the finance team was quick about getting the paperwork drawn up, and 10 days after the accident we were driving home in our new car. Our story must have circulated the dealership, because every time I called or stopped by someone asked "Oh you're the guy from the accident? Is everyone OK?" and sent their best wishes to my family. I can't recommend working with this group of folks highly enough.

I was looking for a certified used Subaru Outback with less than 50,000 miles. I saw a 2010 listed on Don Miller's web site and went to look at it on Sunday. On Monday, I sent in an on-line inquiry. The response was quick and the person I spoke with gave me a good discount. I set up an appointment for a test drive. Terry Wenger took me out on a test drive and answered all my questions. I liked the car and closed the deal. I received good financing and picked the car up on Saturday. Terry went through the car with me again and answered some additional questions I had. All in all, it was a great car buying experience.

Our choosing to drive the two hours to visit this dealer started with the fast response by Eric over the computer. Early in this Eric had already improved on the price and answered all the questions efficiently. With the first phone call Andrew the floor salesman took over and was equally helpful. We scheduled a visit and were met at the door and felt very welcome. We were treated fairly with our trade and more than fair with the price on a 2010 ForesterX with the premium package. There was absolutely zero pressure and my wife and I were given our space to discuss it privately. in our twenty six years of marriage we have bought about twelve vehicles. This was by far the smoothest, easiest buy we have made. I have already encouraged my brother to straight to Don Miller as he is in the market to buy now as well. We will certainly not hesitate to go back. We also both absolutely love the Forester. This is our first Subaru. Been buying Honda`s. Thanks again to the team at Don Miller

Eric responded to my interent request promptly. He had then directed me to Terry. Terry was a stellar salesman. He is very informative, friendly, and does not pressure you. I told him what my budget was, and he worked within it. He didn't try to sell me anything I couldn't afford which is what I have encountered in prior car buying experiences. I also dealt with Chris in the office. He is also a friendly guy. The paperwork aspect went quickly. They do not keep you waiting long at all (which was refreshing).As a female, going in to look at a vehicle it can be intimidating. Not so at Don Miller with this great group. I will definately be continuing my business with them whether it's service or down the road (hopefully way down the road) a new vehicle.

If I had to put a title of my review it would have been "STAY AWAY!!!"And to be honest I will start from the beginning, which wasn't bad at all, but unfortunately it ended up ugly.So my first contact with Don Miller Subaru West was about a year ago after my first interest in the new Impreza. I sent a request on the website and received decent price quote for what I was looking for. My first contact was with Dennis Riddle at this time. Dennis was great, very helpful, and very friendly. However I wasn't exactly ready to buy. Towards the end of the summer, when I was ready to buy, I tried to reestablish connection with Dennis over email, but unfortunately, for whatever reason, I couldn't. So I went to dealership, and here it started. Unluckily for me the dealer who I met with that day was Mark MacInnis. By that time XV Crosstrek was already out and I was highly interested in it. I did a test drive and what not, but I wanted to customize my vehicle a lot, so I decide to order in. In order to make sure I know everything I needed, I asked a few questions, some of which it took weeks to answer, and talking about questions, that every dealer should be able to answer of the top of his head. Finally we got to the price part. I received an OK price the first time, but from my observation and research it seemed like the price can go lower. So I decide to initiate a negotiation and asked for a price which was somewhat lower with the clear intentions to come somewhere in the middle of what I was offered and what I asked for. And here is when it got ugly.He replied with a rude and disrespectful email, basically meaning that is the price, like it or not, either take it or leave it. That was the point that I already have decided I will not do business with this dealer, no matter what. However I decide to let MacInnis's superiors and Subaru of America of my experience. According to Mr. Mark MacInnis, in his fallowing apology, that was supposed to be a joke. To me it is disrespectful, rude, unprofessional, it has attitude to it, and for sure is not, as he says a great business model. Regardless to what price a customer asks for a response like that is unacceptable. The price I first received was OK, and most possibly I would have ordered at it, just because it was the closest dealer, but not after a response like that. After I had the GM - John Duell involved, I was offered the sad additional discount of $200 Even if there was a price to make me close my eyes to the way I was treated, $200 is far, far from it. Needless to say I was done with this dealership, which appeared to be a good thing for me. I negotiated a much better price with Wilde Subaru for the vehicle and placed an order with them. I guess huge profit is not so important to other dealers...Do yourself a favor and stay away from Don Miller Subaru, and especially from, as he says about himself I am a very good person to work with, Mr. Mark MacInnis.Good luck with your next vehicle purchase! Hope my review helped you.Update form August 2013: Apparently Mr. Mark MacInnis decided to contact me few months latter and tell me how he felt about my review. He sent me very rude and completely inappropriate message, calling me all kind of names, and also saying that my concern was not taken seriously by anyone at the dealership, including the general manager, and it was laugh at. This only proves my point that this person is absolutely unprofessional, and should not be involved in any type of work with customers, period...

My wife is in need of a new car, hers had trouble starting. She took it into subaru hoping to trade it in to find out that it wouldn't start (a problem that had been starting to happen). Eric was the salesman that helped us from start to finish. He spent a lot of time and then even the General Manager came out to try to help her out. After no success they pushed her car to the Chrysler service dept to see what they could do. They found the problem and and were able to get it fixed. During that whole process they were still able to start and work on getting us into our new car. Eric and the rest of the crew handled everything for us as to make the whole process as easy on us as possible. Eric and the crew went way beyond anything we would have expected. They truly treat you like family and they deserve more then the 5 start rating we could give them. We HIGHLY recommend Eric and Don Miller Subaru.

Unable to locate the Subaru Outback that I wanted in the southeast region, I called dealerships in several cities and found my car in Madison, Wisconsin.
