Ok, So i'll put it like this, I don't like going to car dealerships. I don't like the way they usually make me feel. So much pressure, Multiple people pressuring and pushing you. I can honestly say that Fred and Mario did not do that at all. Even the Finance guy was amazing as well! They took the time to help me understand every part of buying from them. They also went way above and beyond for me. I felt Fred was super excited for me for getting the same SUV that he had. What an experience, as i drove away in my new ride, I didn't feel swindled, tricked or pressured. I drove away feeling happy about the choice I made. I'm so glad i went to Gateway Toyota and I can tell you that I'll go back again when i'm ready for an upgrade.

Fred Heise was a pleasure to work with. Went out of his way to make sure our test drive included both highway and residential streets to make sure we were comfortable of the handling of the vehicle.When it came to agreeing on the price of the vehicle there was not a lot of back and forth nonsense. Fred was accomodating and transparent with all information.Fred Mateo in financing worked with us to get the best possible rate and again was fully transparent with all information and no hidden fees.I will definitely be returning to Gateway Toyota to purchase my next vehicle.

We were contemplating a used vehicle with low mileage and within our budget. I had visited Gateway Toyota in the past. It seemed I always encountered high pressure and sometimes obnoxious salesman. But to my surprise this time I met Michael Sweeny who was just the opposite. He allowed us to examine a number of cars. And when any appealed, he would give us keys for a test drive. We drove the vehicles around so we could get a good feel of handling, cabin noise and suspension. We had been looking around but felt conformable that Michael was not out to take us to the cleaners. We settled on the car we liked most and were surprised again that finance manager had the same demeanor and caring attitude as Michael. That said, two thumbs up for the new atmosphere and attitudes at Gateway. We recommend them. Just one minor concern. It took about an hour or so for us to settle on the car, but almost three hours before we left that night. Whats a few hunger pangs for a very good deal.Pam & Gene

I recently purchased my second Tundra. After getting the exact deal I wanted on my first I decided to stop in and see Mario the sales manager regarding my options on another. Within 15 minutes we were shaking hands on the deal and I was yet again one happy customer! This was my first time buying a car from a dealership so I had NO IDEA what to expect. I brought my parents along for support, and decided to take the plunge to check this out on memorial day weekend (not ideal timing but so glad we did). Fred approached us outside and I was immediately thankful this was the gentleman who found us, he was calm, cool and casual. I did not feel forced to make the purchase, there was no hard selling no pushing anything on us, just a man who genuinely knew his product, his pricing and was confident we were trying out the best car based on my needs. I had a car to trade in, and walked into the dealership understanding two things....my old baby was a hot mess and car dealerships are a business, they are not giving you KBB pricing on a trade-in, it isnt personal. So we then got to work with Anthony who got me the best possible value for my used car (and maybe a dollar or two more because of my emotional fondness for Goldie). TJ made the process of the loan and paperwork super easy and even shared some really valuable information about how to work on my pretty dismal credit score, without patronizing me...yeah its possible. Even since I have been cruising in my new Toyota Yaris, these guys are STILL taking care of me, they helped me get a replacement title to my old car, grabbed a meaningful memento out of my old car that I had forgotten in my excitement and are willing to take my schedule and life into consideration when dealing with the picking up of my plates, and dropping off of that title. Not all sales man are the same, not all used sales lots are the same and not all dealerships treat you like a Cha-ching. You want to experience that difference. check out Gateway Toyota, you wont be disappointed. .

Today I came out of Toyota Gateway very happy and pleased. I got to test drive the vehicle I wanted and drove home with it in a few hours. From the selection process, Michael Sweeney, helped me find the right vehicle for my needs. I husband and I came a few minutes before closing last Saturday but was still entertained but I never felt obliged to buy right away unlike the experience I had with other dealership. I was not pressured to buy a vehicle i didn't want. When we came in today monday to test drive it, all questions my husband and I had were answered by Michael. Ruben the finance manager, was very helpful and explained thoroughly the financing options. All in all it was an awesome experience and would recommend this dealership.

This is not how you do business and would never do business with this unprofessional dealership.

Wow! I had an incredible experience at gateway Toyota in toms river. I was really dreading having to buy a car, but the staff was GREAT and I got a better deal than I could have imagined. Maryann Lordi was so kind and welcoming (she even gave me a great keychain!) The salesman, Peter Inglese Found the perfect car for me without trying to force me into something I didn't want or need (I love the used Camry I bought!). Fred Matayo from finance was beyond helpful, and even though my credit is FAR from great he - along with three managers Anthony Carino, Joe Buchanan and Mario Markou- got me an incredibly low monthly payment and even took my old (xxx) as a trade in. I was at the dealer on Saturday Night 4/2/2016 about 6:00 and made a deal on a 2007 Lexus ES350 with 230,000 mile used car for my son with Salesman Mike Sweeney and a newer salesman which I do not have his name. You ask why 2 salesman? Because Mike Sweeney had spoke to me about a new car months ago and the new salesman tracked me down in the parking lot while I was looking at the used cars this time. So Mike wanted half the commission on this deal because he spoke to me once before, its like he owned me as a customer, Car Salesman at their best! We agreed on price and shook hands on the deal. I was to pick the car up on Monday after my mechanic looked at it, a realistic request. Monday morning I spoke to the salesman at 10:00 am and told him my mechanic would be by at 11:30 to check the vehicle out. My mechanic showed up and took the car for a test drive. He called me and said the car was ok however it needed brakes. The ad on the internet said the car had new brakes; however after talking to the salesman at 1:00 about the brakes he acknowledged the brakes were at 40%, so the add was incorrect (Beware), however I was ok with the brakes and told him I would be by after work to pick the car up. The salesman then called me at 3:00 and informed me he sold the car to someone else. What???? As you could imagine, I had a few choice words for him.I was very upset and quite disappointed at the lack of integrity and honesty the dealer has displayed. This is a true Used Card Dealer Mentality, no integrity, no honesty and just no decency. These guys get that Car Salesman reputation for a reason, they earn it.MikeToms River, NJ

I came in to have my Tacoma serviced. I found out the repairs were going to cost $4000. I knew that Keith Paul worked here in sales so I decided to speak to him about a new Tacoma. The new Tacoma would not fall within my budget so Keith suggested one that was a-year-old. He was able to make the deal work all in the stress free environment. I am not a fan of shopping for a car but this was a good experience. Dave and Joe were my salesmen and they were both very easy to talk with. They were honest, explained everything and answered all my questions fairly. Never at any time did I feel pressured to make a decision or do anything. I bought a 2006 Avalon. My wife has a lease with another dealer and she will be coming to them when it ends. I had originally looked at a used Subaru at another dealer on Route 37 and that was just awful dealing with them. I would never do business with that company. But I highly recommend Gateway and especially Dave and Joe.

I went to this dealer to see if I can trade in my 2013 Tacoma to see if I can get a lower payment on a new one. I was willing to sacrifice and go into a smaller model wih less features than I had. I dealt with Michael Sweeney. He was not the typical salesman as he was not pushy and he was understanding to my needs. I wound up getting the truck I wanted as their selection was better than another dealer I previously visited. Michael was a pleasure to deal with as was Len Davis. Bith were professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the vehicles and dealership. He worked to get us the fairest deal possible. The dealership has a comfortable showroom and everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Gateway Toyota to friends and family.

It was never done.No one calls me back when I leave messages.$6,500 cash deal.The car had one remote I had to have repaired.I have been calling Chris because he said he would contact the previous owner who traded in the Honda, 2005 Honda Accord.Chris never answers his voicemail, although I left 3 for him to return my call.

That in itself was wonderful. On top of that I was going to put $5,000 down, but he said my credit score was so good that all I needed was my trade in. For the first time ever I felt great about buying a new car. It was late so I brought the car back to get detailed. They all were very helpful at Toyota and I am a very happy customer.

I leased my first car from Gateway in 2012, the initial process went smooth. Despite them trying to sell you an arm and a leg when it comes to "free" oil changes (be careful about this), I wanted to stick to the Toyota brand since I enjoyed my car so much, but the folks at Gateway simply did not act like they wanted my business. TWICE I went in to see salesman, and both times they wanted me to pay to trade in my car to the same place I got it AND wanted me to pay double in monthly payments and put down $10k - ABSURD. They were not willing to work with me at all. To be completely transparent, I have a great salary and good (not great) credit. I made my payments on time but I had excess miles. I knew that I would have to pay for the miles I would be over, but they did nothing at all to try to win my business back. If anything, they pushed me far far away. But these experiences left nothing but a bad taste in my mouth. Since ending my lease, things have been nothing but a nightmare with Gateway now. I took my business elsewhere (which was the best decision). I sold my car back to that other business in APRIL, who finished payments on my lease with Toyota for me....and now.... in NOVEMBER.... I get a call from a collections agency telling me that Gateway Toyota wants $500 from me. I did not receive any correspondence about this bill and am appalled at this. I was never told what this $500 was even for - damages? miles? disposition fee? Thanks for the great communication Gateway. Clearly, Gateway doesn't care about my business or my credit for that matter - they just want their measly $500. Of course I had to pay it & fine, I don't want things affecting my credit. Gateway has horrible customer service and claims there is absolutely nothing they can do. I know being in the car business is for pushy salespeople, but the folks at Gateway take this to a whole new level and are downright atrocious. Thank you for ruining my credit; that's the last $500 you will EVER see from me.

This was my worst experience ever with a car dealership. The sales woman had little to no experience and kept running numbers that didn't add up. When we questioned her about it, she looked at us as if she didn't even understand the question. She just kept coming back with numbers that were too high, given our deposit and the amount financed. Finally, someone else came out to help with the numbers. Then we find out they never told us we were being charged a $1,400 "certification fee," which is on top of the sales price. We asked how much the car would be and we were told that they accepted our offer of $11,500. I asked if there were any other fees associated with this purchase, and we were told the usual, tax, etc . We found out when we were trying to buy the car about this certification fee, no mention of it up until that point. When I told her I was very unhappy about it, she said she would take it off. Which mean that I was then buying a car that was not certified because I would not pay the certification fee. Really? Is this how you do business? I came I to buy a certified, pre-owned car. Very sneaky. Then we are told they want another $400+ for a second key for the car! Seriously???? We said no thanks, how disgusting is this? Then, we get out to the car and find out it is supposed to be inspected this month. And to top it all off, the cheap of the cheap, we drive home and the gas light comes on. Too cheap to even put gas in the car... and gas is under $2.00 a gallon... how tacky, tasteless and ridiculous. I would never, EVER, come back to this unprofessional car dealership again. I have always dealt with Lester Glenn, where they know how to treat customers like human beings. Their resolution when I complained??? to offer me the second key I should have received with my purchase and a tank of gas? really? Thanks a lot. How generous and kind to offer me what I should have received in the first place. Then they offered to "certify" my car if I left without it being certified, due to the additional price. When I said I left with it certified, they didn't offer me anything but a key and a tank of gas. No mention of being deceitful, dishonest, inexperienced, sneaky, shady, and flat out disgusting. Run away from this place like your hair is on fire. Call a taxi , or commute, but don't buy a car here I would suggest you hire people who actually know what they are doing, and stop being so sneaky and cheap. I cant imagine what else you want me to say.

CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES NOT EXIST... 1 AND 1/2 MONTHS later no response. No receipt mailed to my home ? No replacement for my broken antenna ? No explanation as to why my antenna was laying on my from seat for an Air Bag recall? If they can ignore a customer I will continue to write the lack of response from Gateway Toyota. It is really annoying .. Poor Service Department experience...Continues An E-mail contact from the GM was received and I provided my personal e-mail and cell phone if he would like to contact me. No reply thus far. At this point I would still like a copy of my receipt mailed to me and maybe a new antenna. I will have to guess at the mileage for service. Next step I will contact the manufacturer to seek an adequate response.. Unbelievable. Should have been contacted the same day this occurred. Not even 1 star now . The service writer tried to pacify me by stating that there is no charge for the oil change which I replied that the oil change is free anyway. At no time did she review the "all points check up" that I was scheduled for at no charge. The service manager walked over and could only state that he will reprimand the mechanic. I was not provided with a receipt of my service and no evaluation card for rating was sent to my home. I wonder why!!!!! This is totally un-acceptable. Not even a follow up call. Customer Service is a Zero. Will not be using this dealer going further and possibly switching to Honda!

Michael never put any pressure on me from that minute until I decided the Rav 4 was for me. He was extremely knowledgeable about the car and showed me all the features. I test drove the Rav 4 and really liked it. I test drove the CRV and wasn't as comfortable. Michael suggested I drive the RAV 4 again. I was sold. I visited Gateway Toyota based upon the referral provided by the Costco Auto Program. I had read some negative dealer reviews on DealerRater.com and so I had some concern, but I hoped that Costco would not associate with any dealer that was not reputable. Well, Costco wins out again, and Gateway Toyota far exceeded my expectations, and Michael Sweeney who was my salesperson was outstanding intelligent, helpful, professional, and efficient.I had pre-identified some cars prior to arrival. Michael pulled them all out quickly for me to view. He explained pros / cons of each car in a very helpful manner, never trying to pressure me to any specific car. After he spent significant time with me on test drives, we then went to the business of the price for the car I selected (2009 Rav4) and that could not have been simpler! The price was the Gateway Toyota internet price less than Costco discount, all shown explicitly on the Costco price sheet that Michael handed me. And next , what about all those extras that unscrupulous dealers are famous for? None. Just a standard $379 processing fee and then money for the DMV plates. Now, I contrast this versus Ramsey Subaru that I visited a few days earlier also on a Costco referral. That salesperson showed me a $499 dealer prep fee, a $299 doc fee and a $199 window etch fee. I knew that was a rip-off and I left I will write a separate more detailed review on my very poor Ramsey experience as they are high up in Dealerrater and my sales experience there was very subpar.But to reiterate on Gateway and Michael they were excellent. After Michael set up the paperwork, had my car detailed, and then handed me off to finance who was the person I wrote the check, I was done. 5-stars. I will return here.

gateway toyota took advantage of a widow who had 2 cars and traded them in for a new one. They were pushy and inconsiderate. They pressured me and said it was the end of the month and had to make a quota so if I didnt buy then, they could not give me a good price on my tradeins. I fell for it since in was only one month since my husband died., I then could not sit in a sports seat and had to trade the new one in for another car and lost $7,000. dollars within a 6 month period. The old owner of toyota toms river was nice and I later was told he sold the place to someone new.. I wish I new his name so I could contact him and lt hilm know how high pressure the sales people are.

The worst lying and dishonest dealer I have ever seen. Quoted me a monthly payment of mid 300's only to try and have me sign a contract for $446 a month. Added hidden costs of useless warranties, tried to rake me over the coals with a 14.65% rate. Walked out of dealership and they never bothered to try to make things right. Wrote them a bad review on yelp and they begged me to email the general manager so they could fix things...funny, he never answered me either. So failure, lies and dishonesty begins at the top. Please do yourself a favor and never ever go here. Awful!

I'm supposed to be the price expert - they won't offer a fair price. I offer to pay discount off list. He comes with a higher price. I take another look. I thought the original price had to be wrong - it was thousands over the Toyota website. Salesperson started to go through it. They had typed in an extra charge for an "appearance package" - a dealer add on. Its was thousands of dollars!! I asked to buy the vehicle without the phony extra charge. Back he goes to his finance guy. 10 minutes later he comes out with the finance guy. Yes, they don't have to add the appearance package, it wasn't on the vehicle. Apparently, they were hoping I, or any other customer, wouldn't ask or notice. I'm thinking that the price is still too high, so I ask to buy the car for less than the second offer. Back he goes to the finance guy - third time. Now the finance guy comes out. He says that his offer is as low as he can go. I tell the finance guy that the Internet has Toyota minivans below the price he was showing. I have my iPad open to the Internet. He takes a quick look and says he'll see what he can do. Back the finance guy goes to his office. Comes back, okay, he can offer a lower price, more than a thousand off the "as low as I can go" price. His price is now fair, many, many, many, many, many (you can count the "manys") thousands below the first price quoted with all the phony extras. I am SO pissed off that I tell them their business practices, well ... you know, and I wouldn't buy from them. After 2 hours of nonsense, I walk out. This dealership has awful practices. Don't go there. And I did buy a Toyota minivan in the end, at a fair price, without a single negotiation. It just wasn't bought at Gateway.

The entire process from start to finish was seamless and wonderful. Ruben, the sales person was polite and helpful and knowledgeable and we feel we got a very fair deal. He knew all about the car I wanted and took the time to help me program the Bluetooth voice commands. His boss, (I think his name was Joe), was also friendly and helpful. We always dread the financial part and even the financial employee was so helpful and knowledgeable and it was a stress-free experience. I absolutely love the car and would definitely shop there again when I'm in need of a car, and would recommend any of my friends to go there.

I saw a "certified" Venza for sale on this site, drove an hour to go look at it. Upon arrival, I realized it was so banged up, though only a year old it was covered in dents and scratches. It was even missing its spare tire. Yet it was "certified pre-owned". Proceeded to talk about price with the salesman. (Figured if it was a good deal I could get it painted) After our initial offer he went to get the finance manager who was more then rude about the fact that he wouldnt take any offer lower then the sticker price. Mind you I was only asking about 700 less taking into account the extensive cosmetic damage. He said that "internet pricing is non-negotiable." Three days later they called me to see if I was still interested. I had already bought the same exact kind of car, year and model, in almost perfect condition with 15,000 miles less from a dealership also on this site for only $200 more then Gateways "internet price". I understand a no from a finance manager, but this man was very rude and nasty. Im so glad it went this way, I would never go back there.

This dealership has gone down the tubes since my last purchase in 2005. My salesman Steven Ullrich was pleasant but the manager, Max seemed reluctant to divulge any information about the "leftover" Toyota I was interested in purchasing because he "didn't know" what or "if" he had the specific model/color that I wanted in stock. He was also reluctant to discuss any ball park figures until I have him the exact dollar amount that I was going to put down on the car. I really wanted a Camry but I refuse to buy a car from a place that treats their customers like dollar signs. I'm happy to say that I found a brand new and not a "leftover" car at a different dealership.

THEY WILL LIE TO GET YOU IN THE DOOR! I called the day before set up an appointment to see a prius and when I show up they say they don't have it so I walk out. I went back in to talk to my salesperson to make sure they don't have it, because it was an hour drive, and then he changes his mind and says he does have it but it's not for sale because it's a loaner car, but he would call me to let me know when it is for sale. So that's fine I'm happy. He calls me, and let's me know that it won't be for sale for six months! So ok fine. I go back on cars.com and turns out he lied they just had the price wrong. If they had just said that instead of wasting four hours of my time I would not have given them a review. In summary IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS! - definitely with these ppl

we went here 1st to test drive the venza limited,she loved it. she went back to get some numbers and they told her "you will never get a venza limited walkout price under 40k" and sign now for 36500 for this not loaded xle . she told then she is not doing anything without her bf.. they said "he's not your husband" and kept pressuring her to sign,being very pushy,so she walked out. and guess what ? R & H Toyota in balt.Maryland sold us a fully LOADED LIMITED VENZA FOR 37,500.. haha you guys were WRONG, now we know why you didn't want her to talk to her boyfriend, and she has told all her friends how you treat women. I went to a Toyota in Eatontown first, there price was horrible.. I called Lakewood, there price was better then Eatontown.. I call Toms river Gateway Toyota and told them the price Lakewood gave me and asked if they can beat it.. The sales rep said let me take some info and speak to my manager, so he took my info & my other quotes-- I told him I was at another dealers*ship all day and just let me know if he can beat the price so I can come in fill out the paperwork and leave- he called me back and said I spoke to my manager we can beat it!I drive over there, sit down with the sales rep, he starts telling me I need to put more money down, or take less miles on the lease ect ect.. I said why would I put more down and take less miles if Lakewood said they can make it work??? Long story short, they wouldn't even work with me, the sales rep says to me "I'm sorry I wasted your time but my manager told me to tell you we can beat the price just to get you in the door" I said ok then I'm leaving bye.. so the manager comes over, tells me Lakewood is lying to me and they are just telling me what I want to hear to get me in the door.. I left, went to Lakewood & got the deal they promised meWhat a waste of time!!! I called this dealership about 6 hours before my visit because I wanted to make sure I was assigned a knowledgeable sales rep who would not pressure me as I have high blood pressure and do not deal with stress very well. I'm a cash buyer and a serious buyer. (I purchased a Nissan the next day.) John was a very knowledgeable salesman and he and his manager informed me that the Camry I wanted was very rare in a four cylinder engine. They offered to price a six-cylinder or hybrid as alternatives. I did not want a six cylinder at all. They both agreed that the hybrid would cost me more, but offered to have my car evaluated for a trade-in and give a discounted price on the hybrid. Although I didn't think a hybrid would work out in gas savings vs. the higher price, I agreed to see their proposal. This is when the problem started. They brought in the man who evaluated my trade-in and offered the bottom price for theirs. (I don't recall his name, but he told me he used to work for Whalen in Freehold.) When I told him the price was too high for me and I would probably would buy a Altima he flippantly asked if I wanted to buy a Corolla because that is the comparable Toyota to an Altima. Now I had done my homework for weeks and knew he was wrong (at least according to Edmunds, Consumers Reports and many other web sites I compared cars on) and told him the bottom line price for a Camry Hybrid was too much for me. He then disdainfully asked "what did you come in looking for?!" That's when I told him that I came in looking for Camry gas and that they tried to switch me to another car and that if he was there to get rid of a paying customer that he did a good job as I put on my coat and left. Even though the salesman John and manager were very nice, this guy was exactly the kind of thug that gives auto dealerships a bad name. I will never set foot in this dealership again. I bought a new Camry from Gateway and had a great experience with the entire staff. There was no pressure like at other dealers and they listened to what I wanted and I was able to get the price I wanted that other dealers wouldn't touch. The sales rep even followed up with me the next day to see how I was doing with the car and to see if I had any questions or problems operating all the features on the car. Would definitely buy here again!

I purchased a Prius from Gateway Toyota on 1/31/11 and purchased gap insurance with my financing. I traded the car in in 10/12 and contacted Gateway about a refund of the unused portion of the gap insurance. I was told to fax the gap insurance and payoff information to Anne Marie the finance manager. I faxed the information on 12/6/12. Approximately a month later, I called Anne Marie to follow up. I left numerous messages before she finally returned one to tell me she would look into it. Another month or so passed, and I stopped at the dealership and spoke to Anne Marie in person as she would not return phone calls. She told me that several other customers were waiting for refunds and she didn't understand what the problem was. While I was there she emailed "someone" about it. I still never heard anything. I finally left a message for the general manager and received a call from Mary Ann the customer service manager. She promised to look into the matter. After several phone calls, she called me on 7/20/13 to tell me that I should have a refund in a few weeks. On 9/11/13, I called to complain that I still hadn't received the refund. She had no recollection of ever speaking to me and referred me to Anne Marie, the finance manager. When I reminded her of the process up to this point, she still didn't seem to remember ever dealing with this matter but agreed to email Anne Marie, who was off that day, and the general manager. Another week has passed and I still have had no response. I am tired of this game they are playing. Is this a way to make a little extra money? They may only owe me $10 but it is not their money. Their customer service is terrible and I will never recommend them to anyone or use their dealership again.

I stopped by this local dealer as was greeted by Jack. He was pleasant, kind and well spoken. He showed me some cars and I test drove as well. It was going great up until I asked for some prices to think over and compare. I was like I had just told him horrible news, his demeanor had changed and it was like I was a nuisance, a bother. I've been I realty for 27 years, and I've never treated anyone like this. His manager was even worse. He told me that the brands my husband and I had been looking at are "junk". Why would you ever say that? They spoke down about other dealers and the people who worked there. I was told to bring my husband back so they can inform him as to the why we should deal with them. Guess what guys, I drove across the street and saw your former employee and bought my new, beautiful Sonata. Thanks Pat at Hyundai! Thanks for making it easy!

They must have 100+ trucks (tacoma & tundra's) avilable behind their New "state of the art facility" New showroom and service facility and a "can do attitude" The salesman thanked me for stopping in even though I told him that this was my 1st day out. No pressure, easy to negotiate with and a fair trade in, was all i wanted and I would recomend this place to all looking for new Toyota's and used cars as they had tons on the lot... I will do business again as my 16yr old daughter, will soon need reliable tranportation.

I am ready to buy another vehicle but because of the service department rudeness I don't want to buy my car from them anymore. They are not helpfull at all and they don't do a good job fixing anything even oil change is a problem....Use to be very dependable place. It is shame, this is how business go down. This is the most unorganized service department I have evert dealt with. I would never trust them with my car. They do not know what they are doing and are flat out rude. I have had 2 appointments now cancelled the same day as the actual appointment although they still called me the day before to confirm it. I have missed 2 days of work now for no reason and although I have provided them with a new number to reach me they still continue to call my fathers number that is on file. I will drive 2 hours to any other Toyota than for this place to work on my car.

To make a long story short....They are the worst dealership I have ever been to. I bought a truck from them. I was having some financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy. I contacted them and they told me to bring my truck back and they would give me my trade in back(a car). They told me to get a letter from the lawyer that would allow me a car loan and then we would talk. In getting back the car, after I received this letter, I would make the payments on the car. They then called telling me they "mistakenly" paid off the car loan and now I would have to make payments to them for the loan. I agreed and signed papers. They said when I get this letter, I could get another vehicle. In the meantime, I moved to Pa. They then started calling me, leaving messages to call. They had even called all my family members too, harassing them. I called and was told to bring the car in, that they had a used car they would give me with no payments until this letter thing was taken care of. I, along with my sister (which is where I live)drove there. Its a 3 hour drive from where we are in Pa. When we got there at around 7:30 p.m., they informed me that they had no car but had to take my car back i.e. repossess it. I asked them why there was no car when they told me there was. No real answer. Here we are, stuck 3 hours from home. It was getting close to closing time for them so they suddenly came up with a "rental" that we could use until the letter came. That was right before Sandy. A week after Sandy, they called again and said that they now had a car and to bring back the rental. Again , we drove there. 3 HOURS only for them to take the keys and say that they had no car. That was when Rodney suggested that we take a "bus" home. When we wouldnt leave, they asked if I had anyone that could co-sign. The only one I knew was my mother, who has perfect credit. After persuading her to cosign, they had a truck for us. Then they informed us that one of their guys were going to drive to my mothers for her to sign paperwork...with us. After a 2 hour drive to my mothers, they had her sign the papers only to find out it had to be in her name only. My mother is 74. I thought she was gonna have a heart attack. She agreed and they told her that they would send her copies of all the paperwork. We found out too, that there was all kinds of extras added in. We NEVER had any say over the vehicle, nor did we even know how much the payment was gonna be. And realized we never even test drove it. After a week or so of calling and asking where the paperwork was, we decided we didn't want the vehicle after all. Too many shady things going on. It was then that they said there was NO way we could bring it back, that we were stuck with it. My mother, mind you, almost had to be hospitalized due to her high blood pressure and not sleeping. To this day, 20 days later, we still have no paperwork but yet they managed to send out the registration. We still know nothing as far as payments or anything. And as far as friendliness, they were friendly only until they could take advantage of an already bad situation. Then they were outright RUDE. Don't ever buy a vehicle from them...you'll end up with more than you can imagine.

My son and I went looking for the Nissan Altima. When we got there immediately we were greeted by very pleasant salespeople. I mention that I was there to see Jim Dennis, and he came out right away. Just by the way he came out with a smile and happy to see both of us, I knew this was a good place to be looking for a used car. We looked at the Nissan, apparently it did not meet my budget idea, so we all went in to the trailer to see what it is I can afford. Everything took place about 5 minutes. Jim came out told us our budget and showed us a Cobalt that my son loved. Great Place, Great People, a place you can trust when buying a car.

When I bought my New Toyota it came with free lifetime oil changes. After getting one free change I said I was done getting them. I don't remember the reason at the time. I complained to the service manager who was nice enough and he talked me into getting them again. I have 2 cars from this dealer and they both had the oil changes. I know they have and want to make some extra money on these "free" oil changes but it just got to be way to much. The last time I went I was shown my cabin air filter. These for 20 bucks at the local NAPA and with my pro discount even less for me. I was told this is what I'm breathing. Wrong that is what the filter stopped and I never breathed it. But anyway I was told they could replace it at the amazing cost of $80.00. This job does not even require a tool and they were already halfway done with the job buy taking the old one out. No but it back in. Then I was snottily told well it's your health and pressured once again. I was also told my brakes had only 25% of their life left and should consider replacing them. Good then they still have a quarter of their life left so I'll use that up. Both of these idiots have to know I work with cars and trucks since I was standing there in my uniform but they still spoke to me like I was a complete idiot. I have told them I'm only using you for your free oil and filters. This is the low opinion I have had with this dealer since day one. They also have allot of senior customers who like the ultra fake friendly attitude they heap on them but I find it condescending. Their service and parts costs are very high compared to other dealers. Parking is also limited and a bit scary if you don't want your car damaged.

While bringing my new Venza in for service the guy handing out the service numbers remarked to the valet how good my Venza looked, that was the cue for this small minded moron to drive my Venza through the only mud puddle on the lot, splashing both fenders & doors with mud. Rather than finding the source of the odor, I suggested it was the a/c plenum since the odor came from the vents when the a/c was turned on, it was easier for service to blame it on the floor mats. When finished, they parked my car 300 feet away through a construction site & picketers (on strike). I am disabled & walk with a cane. There was sand & dirt on the carpeting that the mats didn't cover. I emailed my concerns to the Service Manager, he never replied. Stay far away from these bufoons.

Talk about an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I could not have been happier with my buying experience at Gateway Toyota in Toms River. I went on a Monday night to see a 2011 V6 Camry SE. Art Edwards was the Sales Representative that helped me; he was knowledgeable about the Camry SE as a salesman and an OWNER (how reassuring that he sells a car/brand that he drives himself). When it came time to make a deal he brought over one of the General Sales Managers, Anthony Lo Bello. Anthony was friendly, patient (NOT pushy) and reasonable throughout the entire process. The negotiation went so well, that I decided to take the time to discuss trading in my car which I had originally planned on keeping or selling privately. We came to a reasonable agreement, and I was thrilled. Unfortunately, I did not have my old car with me to trade in, so I was upset that I would have to leave the brand new car I bought until the next day. FORTUNEATELY, Gateway is fantastic and let me take my brand new car that night and turn in my old car the next day! I cant say enough wonderful things about this dealership and I look forward to returning there to service my car. Never expect to get anywhere with this dealership. I bought the car and then sold it and I am still owed thousands of dollars on the extended warranty I purchased from them. By law you should get the money after 60 days. Well it has been going on since September. They only care about you as a customer if you are purchasing a car. Once you get the sale they could care less. I have been waiting since October for my refund check. They filled out the wrong form in October 2010 but never called me to tell me and I did not find this put until December 2010 when I contacted them after the initial 60 days. Now it is the middle of February 2011 and I still have no check. Stay away from them and avoid at all costs. I will be contacting the BBB and the DCA. Horrible dealership.

I had just brought my Toyota Tundra in to get an oil changed from the dealership. I had been getting my truck serviced their for years since I bought it their with no problems until now. I must have had at least 5 oil changes from them since owning the truck and was charged almost the same rate of at $30.00. My last oil change by them they charged nearly $70. I had asked why such an increase and first they told me it was because the cost of oil went up, and that was the reason for the increase, but then I argued that because the old bills showed at $5-$10 for materials and $20-$25 for labor. I compared them the old bills with the new to show them that yes the oil price went up but only the expected few dollars it was the labor that they doubled on the bill. Then I got a new excuse stating that in order to drain the oil they had to remove the front skidplate which was a stock option, and in the past they had just possibly waived that fee and they couldn`t anymore. Now what they didn`t know was that from when I bought the truck used at their dealership it didn`t have the stock front skidplate on it thus they didn`t have to remove anything. Just another line of BS. It is poor business to increase the costs to your previous customers and feed them BS excuses to compensate for the poor economic environment, and slow car sales. I would have been fine if they would have just been honest and stated fees have gone up because of the poor economic climate then them trying to hose me for an extra $30-$40.

My serpentine belt broke Tuesday as I was driving and the power steering went out. Then the panel lit up. I was closest to Gateway Toyota so I drove it there on pins and needles. I was greeted by Matt Cassidy, who told me that even though there were eleven customers already waiting, he would squeeze me in. After Matt went home for the evening, Dave Marra took over. After Rob, the technician, diagnosed the problem, it was late in the afternoon. Dave then went to Bryan Masterson, the Service Manager, who provided me with a loaner until Rob could make the repair and pressure test the system. The car was ready the next afternoon, and I just want to thank the folks at Gateway for providing me with GREAT service and extreme caring. They had never seen me before! I also noticed while I was in the waiting room, that Dave handled a couple of disgruntled customers with diplomacy and tact, eventually satisfying their concerns (primarily over a long waiting time). I highly recommend them and was extremely satisfied and pleased with my experience at Gateway. Please commend these four employees, especially Rob, who took the time to clean everything off, and test the repair to ensure nothing else was wrong. Work was done within the promised time. everyone was courteous and cooperative. There was no attempt made to sell un-needed services. They put down paper on the floor of the front seats, so no grease got on the carpet. The waiting room was comfortable, although a little on the chilly side.

Being a new mother, I wanted a safe car for my precious cargo. I previously had a nissan and wanted to look at the camry. I went to gateway toyota and was greeted at the door and was shown a camry by an exceptional and not pushy salesman, Rodney, who allowed me to take my time and for the right price I drove home my new son in my brand new camry. These people are wonderful... they'll bend over backwards for customer service. Purchasing the car was a great experience, especially being a single female... going in without a male presence is a big no no at other dealerships. I've heard horror stories. But at Gateway, I was treated with good nature and respect. When I had a question, I was offered all the information I needed. The service department employees are always cheerful and accommodating. Will buy all future cars from this dealership. I'm VERY happy!!!

From the minute I walked in the door I felt the calm not always felt at our types of car dealers. The salepeople did not step on each other to work with me and when I finally explained what I was considering the client rep was very accomodating and didn't waste my time pushing his view on me. I found the type of car I wanted and was able to get it for a fair price without feeling had.Everything went very smoothly with the paperwork and financing and I was happy with all processes of the sale.

This dealership explained to my wife that her car needed brakes done. Car with 60,000 miles on it, normal wear/tear. I can beleive it needed to be done in the front, not rear, (disc all the way around). Charged her $350.00 to cut rotors and replace pads up front. Now car pulls to right, plus vibrates after 60 mph. The rotors are as glazed and grooved as when vehicle was dropped off to be repaired. Service Manager says rotors were gut and pads replaced and the car doesn't vibrate, that's what his ASE certified Toyota mechanic says. Now my version.....they ripped me and my wife off for $350, no rotors cut, pads were replaced.....and go to Meineke from now on, hopefully they are HONEST!

Matt was extremely helpful, and easy to talk to. When he realized it was going to take wsome time, for completion of maintance, he provided for a ride home and back. Problem encountered second day. I had a scheduled appointment. He insured I met it. Completion of maintance was resolved and excellent.
