Our sales representative Ron M. was GREAT! He was straight, to the point, and understood exactly what I was looking for. The trade-in process was seamless. Ron was truthful and honest. He did not give us the usual painful back and forth that other dealerships have given us in the past. I also greatly appreciated that Ron is a former business owner. His commitment to customer service was clearly present when he worked with us. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a straight forward and honest experience to visit Ron at VW Gurnee. Thank you again Ron! On a side note, the music in the actual dealership was very distracting. It was loud and echoing. I felt like they were trying to be a club but in the middle of the day... not my favorite when trying to figure out logistics of my monthly payment and contract. Ron worked around this with us and we are grateful for that!

Took our car to get serviced back in March yet to get my vehicle back or get a return call back from the dealership or corporate to get an update as to what’s going on with our vehicle. Called and emailed several people with no response. Got an email from the old service manager letting us know he no longer works for them. He managed to get back to us. But no one from Volkswagen. We are paying for a top line vehicle and have been driving a base line loner. At this point we have had the vehicle for 9 months 3 of them the vehicle has been in the shop. At this point may as well terminate the financing contract and walk away. Was really looking forward to making Volkswagen our go to for our vehicles. Second guessing our decision at this point. 3 months and no update as to why our vehicle is taking so long!! This is how you treat your paying customers and not to mention veterans?

Horrible place. Awfull customer service, I bought a car on May of this year they still owe me $2,600 . They are money thieves, liars have no respect for their customer especially a guy name Miguel Estrada. I went there to talk to him because they won't even take nor return my calls regarding getting my money back and instead of dealing with the problem and find a solution he called me ignorant and call the police to make me leave the place. If I have to get an attorney to get my money back I will but I'm not letting this liars keep my money. I will never recommend anyone to buy a car from this place. If I could do anything else to let people know what I kind of people and place this is I would to save them the headaches, the waste of time and struggle I'm going through for dealing with this unprofessional people. They deserve a WARNING sign on their front door that reads DANGEROUS AREA. KEEP OUT

My experience at Rohrman Volkswagon in Gurnee was overall unpleasant. I'll start by saying Katrina, the salesperson I worked with, did an excellent job. She listened to what I was looking for and was very accomodating the whole time I was there.After having been there for a couple of hours, my fiance and I wanted a bite to eat, and Katrina pointed us to a nearby fast-food place. I was about to pull out, and the head of sales (I believe that was his position) came running out and told me not to leave, but instead come upstairs to the break room and have some pizza. It was cold from lunchtime, but they had a microwave. So we're upstairs in the breakroom eating our reheated pizza, and we are surrounded by 5 people from the team - Katrina (who mostly stayed quiet during this encounter), Dave the finance guy, the head of sales, the man in charge of used car sales, and another gentleman (I can't remember exactly what he was in charge of, but like Katrina, he was also pretty pleasant most of the time). I had some concerns about the car I was considering buying, and we talked through some of them, but the whole time I felt like I was being swarmed by a team who was more interested in making a sale than in earning the loyalty of a customer. A couple of times during the conversation, I got the impression that my concerns were either irrelevant, or a waste of their time, even to the point where they were trying to lay a guilt trip on me for expressing my concerns. Ultimately they made the sale, but they have lost a potential future customer.I've purposely waited a couple of weeks before writing this review because I wanted to have a little time away and try to be as fair as possible. I went to Rohrman because I've seen the commercials for decades, and I figured he must be doing something right to have been around so long. Maybe this experience was an anomoly, or maybe it's the Rohrman sales philosophy, I don't really know; but I can definitely say I'm not going to go back and find out one way or the other.

This dealership is financing people that have no social security number or permanent residency in the US. They are ripping the people off with 25+% interest rates. The General Manager Miguel and Finace Manager Phil verbally assaulted me when I called them out on this deseptive practice (I was called an Idiot, Stupid and a xxxxx). They called the police on me when I refused to not leave my friend alone with them to rip him off even further. They also kept $2000.00 which I will be calling the Attorney General about. They are also selling substandard insurance to people that otherwise would not be able to be insured. This dealership should be under investigation.

My boyfriend and I leased a vehicle through Volkswagen in Gurnee in February. When at the dealership they made us wait atleast 3 hours before we got to fill out any paperwork. We should have left right there but we were too excited. Sandi pulled information out of no where left and right, and most of it we found out later, was inaccurate. We needed plates which they told us would come in the mail and since we're from Wisconsin it might take a while because they're backed up. So once our first set of temporary plates expired they told us to come back for more. So we did. After those expired we went back just for them to tell us that we were never getting our plates, we need to get them from a DMV and that we won't have to pay anything because it's already covered in the lease agreement. And then they sent us out on now expired license plates. So we went to the DMV and they told us that since Volkswagen put in our plates for February, that's when they'll expire even though we were told to get hem in June. Then to top it off we had to pay $150 out of pocket because VW didn't send them the correct information. So we drove back to VW and asked for our money back and they told us that the person that handles that isn't there, call sometime next week. We call later on and are sent from person to person until finally we're hung up on. We were extremely inconvenienced and spoken to as if we were children when they were the ones who messed up. I would never recommend this dealership to anybody. We love our Jetta but it's not even worth it for all the trouble we've been put through since getting it.

I'm not one to normally write reviews, but after my service here I couldn't resist. After confusion on a part replacement and which part I had brought in Tyler had taken it upon himself to waive the charges for a coolant flush, and it was really my fault for bringing in the incorrect part to begin with. Then this weekend when taking my car back in to have the correct part put in and services done I was driven to get lunch which is pretty great in my book. Then I had received a call during letting me know something they had found and to see if they should continue. All in all I received some of the best customer care from every employee both times going in and couldn't be happier. I will never take my car anywhere else after the time and care the service department takes with vehicles.

I found just the car I was looking for at Gurnee Volkswagen, great-looking car, 65,000 miles, one owner, and it handles well. I had but one request before purchasing it, that I be allowed to take it to my mechanic for a pre purchase inspection. Gurnee Volkswagen refused, and so I left to continue my search. They phoned me later to say okay to the pre purchase inspection. The conditions were that I put down a $500 deposit that would go toward the car if I were to purchase it. If not the money is fully refundable. I took the car to my mechanic who inspected it and found that the memory had been cleared (19 miles ago) so he was unable to read the diagnostic trouble codes, so there was information that he did not have access to. I went back to Gurnee Volkswagen and told them that I was not interested in moving forward with the purchase; I shared with them what the mechanics had provided me. I told them that I would consider the purchase if they include a warranty. They then tried to convince me that there was a second owner powertrain warranty in place, the sales person, the general manager, and the assistant manager ganged up against me to try to sell this point. I, however, had reviewed the owners manual as I awaited the inspection, and found that there was no warranty. Frustrated with this process, as it was about 8 oclock in the evening, I told Gurnee Volkswagen that I would check with the manufacturer tomorrow and would get back to them. The next day I called the manufacturer and asked about the second owner warranty, and the representative confirmed that it was five years or 60,000 miles. This car absorbed its warranty. So I went to the dealership and explained this, and ask that they refund my deposit as agreed. They then offered me the car with a one-year warranty. At this point, however, I was over it and feed up. Long story short (too late), they refuse to refund my deposit. We went back and forth over this, and they ask that I leave the premises. So, I had to call my attorney, who will of course cost me $500, but I would rather pay it to the attorney than to allow Gurnee Volkswagen to keep it. Just run an honest business, thats all I ask.

The sale was great Tom went above and beyond to make sure I got and loved the car I drove off with. I had an issue with my car the day after I bought it, there seemed to be a stress crack on the wind shield. I bought my car on Saturday and went back to the dealer on Monday, the service department told me that they will process the incident to Volkswagen and determine if they will replace it. That it will take 4-5 days for a reply from them. Its been almost 4 weeks and nobody has called me, I have been the one that has been calling and asking for an update. Everyone that I call says that they will call me back but never do. The crack on the windshield since then has gotten bigger and even started a new one, I don't feel safe driving my car like it is. I would think they will take these matters seriously, especially the customer.

We walked into the service to drop off my Routan for an oil change. My husband started looking around at cars because he wanted to buy a new one. Well, an employee Sandy Negrau came up to him and started to show him some of the cars. When I cam out to see them, he drove up in a Passat, my favorite color "Burgundy" with low miles for a 2013! It was BEAUTIFUL!! My husband was not expecting to test drive anything, but we ended up taking it for a test drive with out 2 children who fit perfectly in the back. Excellent room inside and it runs so smoothly on the roads. When we returned to the dealership, we told Sandy that we were going to think about it and take our kids to lunch but the Manger Vladimir came out and asked us what "price" we wanted to walk out of here with this car and he told my husband that he can work us our deal PLUS get out children some pizza while we are waiting and doing the paperwork!! We were all taken care of so nicely but most of all, we really apprecaited working with Sandy our Salesman who was truly wonderful. WE love this dealership in Gurnee and we love our new Volkswagen. Thanks for all who were a part of our wonderful experience there.

i found a car at vw gurnee (bob rohrman, via internet...clicked the "e-price" got a txt to set up an appointment...i stated i need a price if i am going to drive an hour to go look at the vw...the person i was texting back and forth said she just sets appointments, but was sure a saleman would get me a good price....i then again went to cars.com, and clicked "get an e-price", once again a txt message to set up an appointment. i called the lady back, and relayed the info i just previously stated....she then indicated someone would call me back...several hours later she called me back, and gave me a price that was a couple hundred bucks lower than the web price. Reallly? that how you are going to get me to drive an hour to their shop, with a whopping 200 dollars off a 26.5k price? i am not going to go to this dealer

They will say anything to get you in the door and once you arrive everything changes. I have been trying to purchase a 014 VW Touareg R-Line for some time; I contacted them two times through email and phone. The 1st time I went in we had agreed upon a verbal price and they asked me to come in and I did I called them 1 hour before to double check the vehicle was available and they said yes and please come in, I drove with my wife there and when we got there we waited in the lobby for about 10 minutes and a sales person came as asked what vehicle I was there to purchase and left to check again, 5 minutes later he came back and told me the vehicle I was looking for was sold, and it was not the vehicle I wanted was there in front of me, I told them the car I want is right in front of me and they said No we will not sell you this car it's the managers dealer car and so I left upset, they did not bother to call me ahead of time to let me know that the car is sold or anything at all. Threeweeks later the same car I had inquired about was still on the website so I made an inquiry about it again and they said yes the car is in please come and take a look at it and test drive it, I told them I would come in but I want to make sure the car is available and so they assured me that it will be, I told them I will come in but we have to come to a verbal agreement on it because I don't want to drive all the way there and come out empty handed and they said ok, so we agreed on a price and the girl confirmed on the phone with the Manager Bill about the price and he said ok we have a verbal agreement please come in, and I also spoke to him personally and we discussed the price of the vehicle over the phone and we had an agreed upon number. I went in to discuss/purchase the car and they changed the number and I told them we agreed on a price and they said we had a miscommunication, I was very frustrated at them so I got up and left, they wasted my time and gas, I gave them two chances and they are liars, I will never ever step foot again in any Bob Rohrman's dealers, and I will never recommend anyone to shop at the Gurnee VW or Bob Rohrman's dealers.

Had been trying to get answers on whether they honor Edmunds TMV and True Car pricing. They actually called the second time and hung up when I answered. From there, a few emails asking for details and now no response at all. Pretty sure this would speak to the experience overall, which I am glad to have been spared. Save your time, head down 21 to Liberty and try to work with those folks. At the least you will find them more receptive to making a deal.

Very disappointed. With myself as much as with Gurnee VW. I found a car listed on a used car ads site that had no details aside from year, make, model, and miles. My gut reaction when I saw Bob Rohrman's name on the dealership was forget it. After several dealings with Rohrman dealerships I knew it was not worth the trouble. But it was the car I was looking for and I figured that if the car checked out and I verified that they didnt write up the contract for a different price than negotiated I could get out of there without getting Rohrmaned. I used the ad sites contact form and heard back from the dealer right away. I asked specifically if the car was a manual. She had to call back but eventually she said it was a manual, not a DSG. Actually she used the term dry clutch. I had to clarify whether it was a manual or DSG. I had to ask again for more specifics, like ext/int color and if it had a sunroof. My initial contact was nice enough to email me pictures that she took, none that showed the gear selector though. Second red flag: the price she quoted in the email was about $5000 too high(maybe more). I called right away and was told the price quoted was for the wrong car. After a couple more calls, including talking to a manager, and me stating multiple times that a manual was a requirement, I decided to go look at the car. The next red flag was that my contact was suddenly not available, I was to talk to whoever was there when I arrived. After an hour drive I was greeted by the staff and they were not aware of the car I described. They looked at lists and we looked in the lot but they were not sure. Eventually they found what was allegedly the car from the web site but it was an auto. Every car they had was an auto. Another manager came around and looked at lists and on the computer but didnt find anything. They did ask to make sure I wanted a manual a few times but never a sorry about the mix up. One manager just explained that they never take in manuals, especially wagons, because they dont sell. He didnt even think the Sportwagen ever came with a manual. He also tried to tell me the car I was looking for was so unpopular that it was discontinued. I had to explain that my disappointment was the fact that they told me they had a car that didnt exist and I drove an hour to see it. I also explained that there was a new Sportwagen, with a name change. Golf not Jetta. Basically the same car. Just another example of a xxxxxxxxxxx. He was either lying to bolster his claim that what I wanted was very unpopular, like that was the issue, or he was just totally ignorant about what he sells. Either way it was typical Rohrman. Run away from this place, or any Rohrman dealership. If you are considered sleezy for a car salesman that is a real accomplishment.

Recently I had an unscheduled service event with my VW TDI.The Gurnee VW service team and in particular Michael, exceeded my expectations in finding a solution to my vehicles issue. I have had my VW serviced in Gurnee since purchase and appreciate the customer loyalty afforded to me. I would highly recommend this service department for their honest approach to finding a solution to service events and for continued maintenance of your vehicle. Additionally, in general Volkswagen has been outstanding in supporting their warranties particularly where there might be a question about coverage. I had not experienced this with other automobile brands I have owned.

I was not set on purchasing a new vehicle. I was up front with the sales person and explained that I am quite persnickety about a hard sale approach. The sales people were pleasant and not "pushy" which I found suited me. Car buying is a long and drawn out affair even on a good day, but these folks did their best to make it as painless as possible. We worked together to make purchasing my new wheels fit my budget. I am very happy!! I LOVE my new car!!!

Do not buy or get anything from Gurnee Volkswagen without getting it in writing due to they will not honor anything due to the staff is too new. I have purchased 4 tires from them instead of other specialty store because Chris (manager from few years ago) said they coverage is the same. Today I found out they will only cover 2 years of road side damage versus 3 years from the manufacture and other specialty tire shop. Dragon who is their service has been working here for only few years and he told me that none of the current staff has been working at Gurnee for 3 years. I usually get my service done in Autobarn VW due to Gurnee was closer but from now on I will be going back to my trustful haggle free location.

Major issue - True pricing not presented until closing on vehicle.Offered $2000 for trade in site unseen, stopped me at the door (on my way out) offered $500, said no, I wanted $2000. Asked am I a buyer at $2000, response from me "Yes". Came back the next day with $1500 offer from Tom (sales manager) and stated the $2000 was a what if I could, in my opinion this a play on words and dishonest. I was honest with them on the condition of my vehicle, I disclosed both accidents and transmission failure. I know the major accident didn't show-up on CarFax (and it didn't based on the report they pulled) but I still disclosed it.Vehicle was a 2013 previously titled by the dealer, only 34 miles on vehicle. It wasn't explained to me until the day of purchase that the title took place in Oct 2012, resulting in loss of 1/2 the service and dumper to bumper warranty (non-extended warranty). Offered 1.9% financing, at close the document had 2.9%, according to the close manager 1.9% was not communicated and is not the rate for a certified vehicle.After correcting the finance rate, an additional $1995 was added to the vehicle cost. I asked the finance manager why and he told be I had to pay for the vehicle as a certified Volkswagen to get the 1.9% financing. This was the first time I heard 1.9% financing required an additional $1995 (certification cost). Cost for certification was reduced to $1300.Like the vehicle......not the dealership tactics.Just be up front on all costs, didn't do anything to help the reputation of car dealers.

I came in to find a used car in my budget and left leasing a car. Each and every employee that I came across treated me with genuine kindness and respect. I never once felt pressured to buy anything I was not comfortable with. They spent as much time as I needed answering questions and offering me the best options for what I wanted-even if it didn't mean the better sale for them. After being offered more options than I knew I even had, I picked one that was best for me, and leasing will bring me the benefit of having my car serviced there for the next three years. I am not easily impressed by customer service, being in the industry myself, but this is a well trained and knowledgeable team of people who are genuinely looking to help their customers.

DO NOT GET YOUR CAR FIXED HERE. Unless you enjoy having your wallet vacuumed dry. I went in for an air conditioner problem. They quoted me $1200, so thinking that sounded high (and I turned out to be right -- read on), I declined. But when I went to pick up the car, they said there was a $195 'diagnostic charge' just to look at the vehicle. Just to look at it! This was the first I had heard of any such charge. Then, they said they wouldn't release the car until I paid it. And I've bought my car there many times. Nice way to treat a steady customer. The service associate lied and said he told me and my wife about the charge. When I said he didn't tell me any such thing, he said 'I left a message on your home machine' (even though I left them my cel number.) There was no such message. His manager lied when he said he would call me back about the charge. And the receptionist lied when she said she would have the manager call me back about the charge. It's been two months since I disputed the charge (which I had to pay to get the car) and haven't heard back from anyone. So, I had to write this review. I took the car to an independent mechanic (ID Autoservice in North Chicago, highly recommend them). And he fixed it for $600. Half what Gurnee VW quoted. Honesty and integrity. What a contrast to Gurnee VW. Buyer beware.

I visited this dealership to have service done to my 2005 Volkwagen Jetta. My Service Advisor, Chris, was very professional and friendly during my service repair. Additionally, my technician Mikey showed me what repairs were needed so that I understood what repairs were taking place. I also want to mention that all the other associates (who I left unnamed... sorry, you know who you were) were also very friendly and willing to assist me during this repair. This dealership has been my automotive facility for the last five years and I look forward to another five years!! I highly recommend it to anyone who expects the best service, professionalism, and efficiency when they want to purchase a car or service repairs!!

(This is in addition to the negative review I posted about this dealership on this site on 3/12/2010, which dealt with the bad experience we had when we purchased our used VW Passat here.)During the third week of April, 2011, the sending unit for the gas gauge went out. When I went to my local dealer (Autobarn City VW in Chicago - they're *fantastic*, by the way!) for service, I was informed that the 'Pre-Loved' extended warranty on the car couldn't be found on the computer. I checked with VW USA, and they informed me of the same thing. Apparently, the necessary computer skills that are required to enter the warranty info for this car are beyond anyone at Gurnee VW. I called them, and was informed that the woman that deals with warranties was gone for the day, and would be back at 9:00 the next morning. When I arrived there (at approximately 9:30) the next morning, I was then informed that the woman had NO SET HOURS and that NOBODY KNEW WHEN (OR EVEN IF) SHE WOULD ARRIVE THAT DAY! (Nice hours, huh? Where can I go to get a job like that, other that at this car dealership, of course?)Anyway, this is what I was told at the Hundai dealership, which is where this woman's office is. (This is a Hundai / VW dealership with two separate, side-by-side buildings - one for each make of car.)When I went to the VW side, I talked to a gentleman whose card identified him as the 'Used Car Manager'. He copied the paperwork that I had brought, and he assured me that he would contact the 'Extended Warranty Lady' when (if?) she came in, that she *would* get the purchase / warranty info entered onto their computer and get it activated for me, and that she *would* be in contact with me. All of that activity took place, as I said, at around 9:30 a.m. At 1:30 p.m., I received a call from a gentleman by the name of Joe David, who told me that, because I moaned and groaned about this situation to VW USA, VW USA called Gurnee VW and screamed at them, and so the extended warranty was entered into the computer last night (Yeah, right!), and I can proceed with the service that I need in Chicago as long as I wait 24 - 48 hours for the computer to update all of its files with the new warranty information on the car. (Whew! Long sentence.) Also, if I fax him a copy of the receipt (which I had already given to the 'Used Car Manager'!) for the $80 sending unit that I already paid for (this needed to be paid before the part could be ordered), he'd send me a check for it. Which is all well and good, except that IF THEY'D BEEN DOING THEIR JOBS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, THIS SITUATION WOULD NEVER HAVE ARISEN! (Sorry for shouting.)So, I faxed the receipt to Mr. David as he requested. When I didn't receive the check within ten days, I tried calling him. I called and left messages with the receptionist for three days in a row, stating that I was following up on the check that I was supposed to receive. Only on the third day did Mr. David finally decide to return my call. He informed me that when he received my message that morning, he checked his outgoing mail and found the check there, still waiting to be sent, ten days after I faxed the receipt!!! (Yet another example of Gurnee VW's commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.) Giving credit where it's due, I must say that when the reimbursement check finally showed up (two weeks after I began to deal with a situation that should never have arisen in the first place) the check *was* for the correct amount - at least the dealership was able to get that right.I honestly don't understand how this dealership continues to stay in business when they deliver this poor level of customer service. And it's not as though I only had a single issue with them - EVERY SINGLE TIME that I've dealt with this dealership, there's been a problem / issue of some type. If I receive this consistently bad service, I'm sure other people do, too.My advice would be that if you patronize this dealership, make sure that EVERYTHING that ANYONE at this dealership tells you is in writing over their signature (along with their name and job title), and don't assume for ONE SECOND that you're getting everything that you've been promised - double-check everything about the transaction. Of course, the best thing would be to just go somewhere else and save yourself the hassle and aggravation of dealing with these people.I e-mailed a copy of this review to Mr. David, telling him that I intended to post it on this site. I told him that if he had any response or rebuttal to what I'm saying, he should e-mail me back and that I'd include his response here. Since everything that I've said here is true and accurate, I'm not surprised that I never heard back from him. Is it possible that he doesn't care about how the company that he works for treats its customers?

I give this dealership an outstanding rating and especially Joseph because I purchased a new VW from them today and my experience was nothing short of spectacular. Great price, great car but the difference was the professionalism of the entire staff. It began on Sunday, my wife and I were looking at cars in the lot after doing my research on the internet. Joseph was just driving by, saw us, introduced himself and gave me a business card. No pressure but enough for me to call him the next day to make an appointment to come in and see and drive the car. The negotiation at the dealership was straight forward and the price we agreed on was very fair. I dealt with Joseph as well as a female sales manager (sorry, I forget her name) and this experience was great also. During the sales process I was congratulated by the general manager and met the appropriate service staff. I have purchased many cars over the last 30 or so years (this is my 33rd car, not kidding) and I seldom leave a dealership feeling the entire experience was so positive. I would strongly recommend this dealership for anyone looking for a VW.

I had a great experience with VW Gurnee. I was given a very fair trade-in, and a very fair price on my new vehicle. The sales staff jumped through hoops to get me the vehicle that was right for me. What surprised me the most was the way I was treated. There was no pressure put on me to buy; every piece of information that I received from them matched my at-home research. Most importantly, I felt that they did not want to rip me off. This is the first time in my life that I made a large purchase and woke up the next day without buyers remorse. A few years from now when I decide to buy again, I know the 45 mile trip for me to VW Gurnee will be well worth it.

Both of the dealers were very polite and friendly. They did not treat me like the typical used car dealer hustlers, and were able to get me the best price on my Hyundai Tiburon GS Coupe 08'. I wanted to sleep on my decision in whether or not I was going to purchase the car so they held the car for me for another day, and with it being a used car they could have easily said no. My car was detailed well and the Manager Justin Palermo gave me a full tank of gas. I was even given my very own person escort home because I had not goten my license until later that day. I am familiar with Gurnee V because my father purchased his 2010 GTI VW from there and he couldn't be happier with his decision in going through that dealership. Overall, the dealers and Gurnee Volkswagon were very friendly, made me feel comfortable,and sold me a car that had the most bang for my buck. I would most definitely recommend friends and family to go to Gurnee Volkswagen on their next vehicle purchase(s). Thanks guys!

Found a 2007 Tahoe LTZ online the day it was published - Went the next day and purchased the vehicle at the price and terms that I wanted. Very laid back sales approach & service that was friendlier than ever. Sean was very kind as I test drove half the cars on the lot. Always looking for something a bit different from the last- they were able to find me the perfect car. Sean, our sales guy, came in on his day off to do the ppwk & to see everything was perfect. I was given a great price on my not so great trade in and drove home very, very happy. I would recommend Gurnee VW to anyone looking for great service & a nice ride at a great price. This dealership broke parts on my car when they were supposed to be doing free recalls on my car. They then proceeded to tell me that they would not fix it and there was nothing to do. The "amazing" service manager John actually told me to stop talking, sit down, and if I talked again he would kick me out. I have been a loyal customer to Gurnee VW for years and own multiple volkswagens. After the way John and Joe treated me I will never go back there again. In fact, two people I've told have already cancelled their appointments to get work done on their cars there. It is too bad that a business will treat their customers like complete dirt after THEY broke the part on MY car. STAY AWAY!

In each case id gone in with approved financing just wanting to make a deal....just a few bucks off a 2011 Tiguan...no one wanted my business, at least they sure didn't act like they did....until I happened upon the Gurnee Guys! Everyone at Gurnee was a pleasure to work with - no pressure, honest facts and figures and no bs. I did a deal within a half hour and left less than an hour later with my new car - they even cleaned my husbands car while we waited for mine! I was provided a comprehensive overview of the vehicle and all it's bells and whistles. I couldn't be happier with the car, the service everything!

Joseph is very knowledgable of the vehicles and it makes for an informative and enjoyable experience. We also really enjoyed our interactions with Mitch...he is honest and treated us like family. I was interested in the vw jetta sportwagen TDI and called the dealership to see if they had any in stock. I talked with Mitch Horwitz, he was very informative over the phone and went through the options they had in stock over the phone. Later that day i went into the dealership with my fiance and my mom. When we walked in we where greeted Mitch. He was very approchable, friendly and was honestly interested in what i had to say regarding my purchase. After my test drive he asked if i had any questions, concerns and ect. He was very knowlagable and informative and questions were quickly ansured. Then we went over the numbers and compared what i could afford to what he could do. During our time in the office he never seemed like he was trying to push a sale. I never felt pressured to "drive home today" in a car that i was unsure of (like most other dealers tried to do in my previous experiences). While talking in the office it didnt seem like all business either. He took the time to get to know me, my fiance, and my mom individually and spent quite some time talking with us. All of the numbers worked out perfect and he even got my payment 15 bucks under what i expected to pay. Everything was upfront and explained in detail from payments and fees to intrest and warranty info. My fiance was also very happy that even though this was going to be my car he often included her in the conversations and asked for her thoughts. After everything was reviewed and he made sure i had no more questions he just simply asked if this was the car for me. It definately was. At that time i signed some paperwork and we closed the deal with a handshake. Since it was raining heavily and getting late, Mitch suggested i pick up the car the next morning which i agreed to. When i went to pick up the car it was all set for me. Mitch introduced me to some nice people in other departments where i signed a few more peices of paperwork and everything was went over again. Then an associate took me through all the cars bells and wistles step by step. After that Mitch came out to thank me once again for my business and i was off. Everyone was extremely nice and upfront. The experience was quick, painless and very memorable. Too many places today make buying a car seem like a hassle, but at Gurnee Volkswagen they made it fun. I am very happy with my purchase, after all my research and car searching it is exactly what i wanted. If anyone is interested in a volkswagen i would highly suggest you pay Gurnee Volkswagen a visit, and if you see Mitch tell him Rob says hello.

My teenage daughter and I have been looking for her first car. We have been to plenty of dealerships and have always felt pressured to buy. We did not have that completely uncomfortable feeling at Gurnee Volkswagen. Joe took us out for a very pleasant test drive in my daughter's dream car, the Volkswagan Beetle. After visiting several other dealerships in the area I stopped into Gurnee Volkswagen. I was greeted promptly by the general manager who quickly put me in the direction of the salesman, Brad. Brad helped me to find the exact car that I was looking for. He was warm and friendly and make the process of buying a new car pressure free. Upon deciding that I would walk out of the dealership that day with a new car, I was made an initial offer on what my monthly payments would be. When I found the price to be out of my budget, Brad introduced me to Joe the new car manager. Joe was very friendly as well and was able to work with me on a price that would fit into my budget. He went out of his way to find exactly the model that I was looking for and was able to have it picked up from another dealership in the area right away. I worked with Rob when signing my contracts. He was very knowledgeable about the details of the contract. He answered any and all questions that I had with regard to my new purchase. After signing the papers and getting my keys Brad went with me to check out the new car and show me all of the little details that it had. He too answered any and all questions that I had about my new Volkswagen. He was very knowledgeable about all of the products that the dealership had to offer... accessories and service included. The next day Brad called me to see how I liked my new car and also to see if there was anything else that Gurnee Volkswagen could do for me. Joe also contacted me the next day to make sure that I was happy with my purchase. The entire sales team was a pleasure to work with. I would not recommend going to any other dealership. The others that I had been to were not as welcoming as Gurnee VW. I will definitely be a return customer as I love the car and the service that I was provided. The guys at Gurnee VW went above and beyond for me and I am very appreciative of that. They definitely aren't your typical car sales guys. They definitely made a good impression on me. I would refer Gurnee VW to anyone that is looking to buy a new Volkswagen. This sales team gets five stars in every category in my book.

This dealership did an excellent job. The general manager himself was on the lot assisting customers and togther with Joe, Mitch and Rob we got a deal done that I thought would have been impossible. The dealership is in great condition everything was clean. My visit ran over the lunch hour the hospitality with refreshments and the fresh popcorn was satisfying. Everyone did a great good and I plan to return for a visit the during our next vehicle search. I did hope for a better price, and I dont push very hard, but everyone always wants better price. Definitely will look to Mitch and his team at Gurnee Volkswagon for our next vehicle.

Nic Lantvit and John Craig in Service Dept have both treated me great and have went above expectations while my car was being serviced. We came to this dealership looking for an SUV, we found that we were unable to buy or trade our car in because of the dealer we went to before. Dan was very honest with us from the start and even after knowing he could not help us get a car he still spent time with us going over our contract and explaining to us where all of the charges were coming from and why we wouldn't be able to purchase another vehicle. He helped us go over other options and I would recommend this dealership to anyone!

Worked with Dan to purchase a used 2002 Hyundai Accent for my elderly mother. Dan was extremely nice and personable. The car was clean and the dealership provided the Carfax history. Dealership offered lifetime car washes as an additional incentive. I would recommend Dan and Gurnee Volkswagen and my mother was very happy with her purchasing experience.

No-never! Home of the bait & switch and home to the second by second price changers! Was thinking of selling them my 2009 Routan, they offered 18,200. (paid 27,5 for it) Two days later their priced dropped to 17,500! And they had a less optioned one there with more miles for 23,700! Thieves, Liars & Robbers...rude, rude, rude!!!!!

Was in the market for a new car, and after running from dealer to dealer I found Gurnee VW. The staff was great. Joseph my salesman was the best, he spent so much time with me going over each feature in the car and then showing me the differance in the models. One I decided on the 2010 CC R-Line I meet with Mitch the GM and went over the finance and paperwork. It was the most painless thing I have ever done, and just when I thought it could not get better, they delivered the car and went over all the features and even sat there while my 800 contacts downloaded to the cars phonebook. Plus the car was SPOTLESS.

The salesman was very nice. The General Mgr. refused to talk to me , I guess he was to busy to come out of his office to try to earn my business. I had asked several times to talk to him but he told the salesman that he was tied up and could not speak with me. I waited about a hour to talk to him. If he is too busy to talk to a customer mabey he should not be there.

We came to Gurnee VW months ago for service and wasn't happy at all (typical rip off service), we also tried to talk with someone about buying a 2010 Tiguan but after our first meeting with the sales person we ended up driving 1hr away for our Tiguan. A few days ago we went to buy a 2010 Golf TDI and Gurnee was the closest dealer with one, so we thought we would go look at it. Walked in, found out it was under new management WHAT A CHANGE!! Needless to say the experience was so much better then the last. Mitch was easy to talk with and made things less stressful. We liked that we didn't have to do the back and forth game!! Dan was very friendly and it was a pleasure working with them all. Looking forward to trying the service department now.

I worked with Dan on getting a 2010 TDi Cup Edition Jetta in elertic Blue. Not an easy transaction considering the only one in the area was in the U.P. of Mi. but the folks at Gurnee VW made it as easy as possible. They did all the leg work to get it down here in a timely fashion. They did a great job working with me on off loading my trade in giving as much as possible without me going too far into the hole on it. They are a family friendly bunch that took great pride and effort to entertain my every wish as well entertain my kids while doing so. I would gladly recommend them to anyone lookin for a vw new or used.

No nonsense dealer. Went into to but used car and left with one without games, haggling, etc. Mitch and Brad were easy to work with and straight up. Recommend to anyone not willing to spend/waste time with other dealer games. Was able to spend minimal time at dealership and they took care of my kids while I did it

During all my routine service appointments, as well as an emergency service last December from a slide on some ice, I have been treated as a priority customer. Their work is professional with a do it right once product. I always had a shuddle or loaner car offered as needed until the work was done. They are very friendly and their warranty honored. I was trading in my vehicle for a new sale. I priced out the same car at several other dealers around the area and Gurnee gave me the best deal of all of them. The salesman, Brad, was fairly knowledgeable of the vehicle and willing to assist with any question I had. He made me feel comfortable with the situation. I was extremely impressed with Nick in the service department. He knew more about diesel vehicles than anyone else I had met at any other dealership. Being a single woman, car buying is always interesting so I was not looking forward to purchasing another vehicle. I was referred to Gurnee Volkswagon from a friend and I must say this was, by far, the best cay buying experience I have ever had. Our salesman George was great. The sales manager Joe David was absolutely fantastic. Very friendly, consumer satisfaction driven, listened to what I wanted and didn't even attempt to push me into something more then what I was looking for.They made sure the car was looking and running great. They had no hesitation about taking care of the brakes with no charge and delivering the car to me (50 miles away)!!When the time comes for another purchase I will be coming back to them with no doubt.Thank you so much!!

The follow up has been incredible, Joe David Used Car Manager was more than fair on my trade in and has and is going the extra mile for any questions I may have. Joseph Furrer Sales Associate, knowledge on the inside and outside of the car, not only sold me on the car but the dealership. There have been bad reviews of this dealership, however it has recently come under new management. I would highly recommend Gurnee Volkswagen to anyone. I had a great experience purchasing my new 2010 Tiguan. Mitch, the General Manager, was very professional and honest and an extreme pleasure to work with. The sales staff is very courteous and knowledgeable. This dealership has restored my faith in good customer service in a world where it is lacking. The price was very competitive as well.

Purchased an '07 VW Passat at Gurnee VW on December 31, 2009. The owner's manual was missing, and there was a bad scratch on the front, passenger-side door. The salesman promised us that a replacement manual and a tube of touch-up paint would be ordered, and mailed to us as soon as they came in; he even wrote up a "We Owe The Customer" form stating this. Approximately three weeks later, we received a call that the paint tube was there (nothing about the owners manual) and that we could come and pick it up (and pay for it!) any time we wanted. We told them the salesman that sold us the car said the paint (and manual, when it became available) would be mailed to us (it would be an 80 mile round-trip for us) and that there would be no cost for the items or shipping. Their response was that the salesman no longer worked there, and if we wanted the items, we needed to drive to the dealership so that we could pay for them - shipping them to us would be too expensive for the dealership! As of this date (March 1), weve heard nothing further from anyone at the dealership about this.Also, I took the car in to my local dealer (in Chicago) for a minor repair, and found out that there was a recall on the ignition system that had not been applied. The recall was issued by VW on October 23, 2009, yet Gurnee VW apparently was either unable or unwilling to perform it.In addition, the Chicago dealer informed me that the cylinder head-cover gasket was leaking oil, and needed to be replaced. While its possible that the leak started during the 2000 miles that weve put on the car since we purchased it, I find this hard to believe. If it started before we bought the car, it would appear that Gurnee VW was unwilling to incur the repair-shop time (and expense) to repair this problem, and decided to let us hassle with it instead.Before posting this review, I e-mailed a copy of it to Gurnee VW to give them a chance to respond; their response was that they immediately shipped an owner's manual and *2* tubes of touch-up paint. I didn't bring up the recall or the leaky gasket.

This service department is the absolute worst.They have done the 'service' on my car - and it has been a nightmare.They replaced the clutch - only for it to malfunction - completely - 2 days later. It was a defective clutch.They replaced a part that was a VW recall and completely messed up my electrical system. If in cruise control - the cruise control will not shut off and the car starts to accelerate by itself and the brakes don't work.They took the door apart because some of the wiring was in there - and ever since there has been a rattle - and now I cannot get the window (power) to go back up.The antilock brake light would not go out - I was told that the 'indicator' was 'touchy' in warmer weather. It is fall now - 65 degrees outside - it is still on. BUT - there was one time that the light went out - great I thought - until I tried to stop and the brakes didn't work.I cannot get any satisfaction from the service manager and I'm having a very hard time getting in touch with the senior managers from Bob Rohrman corporate.Stay Clear!

I have purchased 2 new vehicles from this dealership, a Beatle Convertable and a 2.0T Passat. My salesman, Nestor, worked with me for six months - without even a hint of pressure or misleading sales techniques - before the first purchase was consumated. To further aid in the first sale, Nestor and Mike (the service manager) decorated the Beatle convertable with red bows and ribbons for its presentation as a christmas present to my wife. The Passat was purchased five months later. Again, I was treated with the same friendship and respect that so impressed me the during the first sale.
