Can't say enough about the excellent service I received at Koons. No pressure on the first visit, polite but not pushy e-mail followups, and when I was ready to buy they gave me a terrific deal for nearly $4 K off MSRP. Thanks to sales reps John Speake & Mike Anderson and manager Daniel Kim for a terrific car buying experience.

I came here to look for a new car (Mazda) after many dissapointing visits to other dealerships. Dunbar helped me and really made things easy for me. I now know exactly what I need and am not so overwhelmed. He was extremely friendly and I felt like he truly cared, which is hard to find at a car dealership nowadays.

I went to the shop and did oil change and tires roted for 132.00, I also asked them to replace left lowbeam bulb. They told me that I have to replace whole ballast as it was supposedly broken... Was working for last 4 y..... And they made my right bulb to go off.... They also didn't informed me about breaking right bulb.... I was driving home without any light.... They proposed radiculous price ... For changing my low headlights... 900 dollars including replacement of broken ballast in assembly....I got bulbs replaced tonight by my boyfriend... And I paid only for headlight bulb.... I have no words for this place.... I hope they didn't damaged any electricity in my car as u hear something ticking .... Tomorrow I'm going to the shop to pay and check this out.... It's a very dangerous place.... Stay FAR AWAY from them.... I'm going to submit consumer complain ... This shouldn't be happening

I dealt with Andy Kohn as a salesperson and Chad Silla on finance. They were both knowledgeable about the things they needed to know. Andy took care of finalizing our sale even before he was due to be at work and Chad had the finance system down pat. I went in at 10:15 having decided that I preferred the Mazda 3 to a Corolla - but not if I was going to have to pay a lot more, haggled over price for about a half hour, got it to the price I needed it to be all by 11. After paperwork, I was on my way home by 12:15 - came back and picked up my new car at 1:15. I am not a huge fan of buying new cars, but I left this one believing I got the car I preferred at a fair price. Can't ask for more than that.

This was my first experience buying a car and I would highly recommend koons to anybody looking for new, used or certified pre-owned car ownership.

Looking for safety and reliability in a newer car went into Koons Silver Springs. At 62, this would be my first dealer purchase and expected a fair price and good car buying experience. After a rocky start, Elliot Bourne , sales person, listened carefully and realized that for a car and budget, a new Mazda 3 manual transmission would be a better fit . To say I love, love, love my new car is an understatement. Couldn't be happier. Thanks Elliot.

I browsed online and found a truck that I wanted at another dealership that was over a hour away. I called Koonz and made contact with John Speake. Not only was John helpful with the truck I was buying, I felt I could trust him I ended up buying a brand new car for my wife. John went and picked up the truck for me and reassured me if I didn't like it I wasn't on the hook for it. I never felt so at ease spending $80000 plus.

Koons Mazda of Silver Spring made our first time car buying experience so easy. I can't recommend them enough. We found the car with the options we wanted, then contacted six or seven local dealerships that had it on the lot. Many dealerships hesitated to quote a fair price over email, others insisted that they could beat our 'best offer' if we showed up in person. Not Koons. I spoke with Allen over the phone, then emailed with Pat. I explained the incentives I was eligible for, the price I wanted to pay, and my rational. Pat said he could make my pricing work, and later was willing to confirm the price in writing via email. He was incredibly straightforward, no games.Meanwhile, other salesmen told me that my price expectations were off, and they couldn't come close. I mentioned that one dealership seemingly could make it work, and multiple salesmen told me in no uncertain terms that it was a bait and switch- that the price would be higher than expected or that a lesser model car quoted. So with a bit of trepidation we took two busses to Koons Mazda of Silver Spring, ready to turn around at the first sign of unethical behavior. We left in our brand new car, paying the price we expected, after a great experience with Pat, Allen, and Simon.Allen Weber is a terrific salesmen. Friendly, personable, and knowledgeable, he immediately put us at ease. He found the exact car we asked about, as expected. The 'negotiating' process was a piece of cake- Pat honored the aggressive price he quoted us, and Allen was nice enough to get an accessory thrown in. In no time the paperwork was prepared and our car was sent to be detailed.Next we sat with Simon, the finance manager, and prepared to defend the hard sell. It never happened. Zero pressure whatsoever. He was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond for us. Before we knew it the paperwork was signed, the car was ready, and we drove off the lot.Pat and Allen have earned our business, and I have no hesitation recommending them to friends, family, and you. We had a picture perfect experience, we couldn't be happier.

I was there to buy 2012 Acura MDX which i saw on line and called the place to make sure if it is available. I was there at 6.30 pm with my family (my wife and three kids) . I talk to Ms. Linda Williams (sales person) who kindly brought the vehicle out for Test ride. Once I was done Testing that vehicle and all my family like it and made our mind to buy, all our excitement was blown away as we start talking with Pre owned Manager Mr. David Song. Not sure if he had a bad day but he did't want to move from his desk and even greet his customers. I ask Ms. Lindia, if i can go talk with him since he was hesitating introducing himself and at last after 15 minutes of wait he was there to talk with use. Without shaking our hand or greeting us he start talking about the price. I ask him if something can be done with the price since i was trading in my 2005 MDX but the blankly answered "sorry that's the final price and went back to his desk" . Myself and my wife were surprised that how rude he was with us. Upon asking KKB value of the vehicle Ms. Linda brought value of my trade in vehicle and the Vehicle we were going to buy. On the KKB value chart my SUV (MDX) options were not shown correctly and it was showing lower price. upon asking Ms. Linda, I find out that Mr. David printed those values and he is one who can answer. To make sure Ms. Linda waited of him to come to our desk but he never showed up so I had to move from Ms. Lindia desk to Mr. David cabin to ask whats going on and simply gave me a smile and said he will be there. Myself and my wife didn't like the way he was trying to negotiate with his rude behavior and just walk out from the dealer ship. I was recommended by my friend for this dealership but i will never recommend anyone to visit this dealership. Thanks

This was my first new vehicle purchase, after living over seas for the last 5 years. I am also a costco member which made the car buying process amazingly smooth and to the point, I was in and out with my new car including the test drive in under 90 minutes. The staff was very friendly and explained all the details to me making the hardest decision to make of the day which color Mazda I wanted to drive home.

This Dealership will do whatever it takes to earn your business. We live over 3 hours away from the dealership and the sale person (Greg Ellison) delivered my 2013 Mazdaspeed3 and 2015 Mazda CX-5 to our house. Amazing to think Preston is only 1 hour away and they claimed to be "too busy" to help (both times). I think we found our Mazda Dealership for life. BTW, Greg even sold my mom her 2014 Mazda3.

Tina G I recently purchased a new car from Koons Mazda of Silver Springs it was the best experience I have had when purchasing a car. The salesman Allen Weber was fantastic while helping me decide what I wanted. Allen was very patient and understanding when I was telling him the specific accessories for the inside of the car. I was able to get everything I wanted while staying within my budget all with the assistance of Allen. When I was finished buying the car Allen Weber when over every inch of the car and made sure I knew every feature the car. This was the most refreshing car buying experience I have ever had no pushing or hassling I felt very comfortable with Allen assisting me. I will recommend Koons Mazda and Allen Weber to anyone I know looking for a vehicle. Thank you so much Allen and keep up the great customer service!

The car I ended up buying is great, but it was the salesman, Lee Smith, who really sealed the deal. Lee knew his test drive course well enough to point out the sporty capabilities of the car at the right spots in the course. He was friendly and easy-going, keeping the conversation coming back to the car without being pushy. I test drove other cars at other dealerships and the other salespeople didn't make me want to work with them (pushy, too focused on closing the deal, back-seat driver, etc). By the end of the search, I wanted to buy a car from Lee. It didn't hurt that it was an awesome car at a good deal.

After trying to decide how to rate Koons Mazda, having experienced extremes of service within one visit, I chose to let the actions and attitude of the Sales Manager (Jeremy) overrule the courtesy and professionalism that the sales associate Bill showed me. I chose to do this because, in the end, it is the sales managers that control whether a deal will be made or not.I started out this fine Friday morning with a call to Koons Mazda and spoke to BIll Forte. I told him I was looking at a very specific vehicle, had test driven similar models at other dealerships, and simply wanted to come in for a price quote. I also made it quite clear over the phone that I was not going to purchase today as I still had some financial things to sort out, but should be purchasing by Sunday or Monday.I got to the dealership, met with Bill, we talked for a moment, and then he left to pull the car up to the front of the dealership. I thought that was a nice touch so we could make sure the car I saw in person matched up with what I saw and imagined from online. He then said "lets take it for a test drive". When I told him I didn't need to because I had taken the same model on numerous other test drives, he said "it is company policy". I decided to grin and bear it and play along. After the test drive he took other quotes I had gotten from other dealerships to Jeremy, the Sales Manager. At this point, I was expecting they would give me there best offer in writing (which is something I asked for on the phone, and the only reason I made the trip out to Silver Spring.). Jeremy eventually came over, and tried pushing for me to buy right then, including talking about all the pricing tricks other dealerships pull. Guess he didn't realize that bad mouthing the competition raises a red flag that says "we are desperate and will stoop to any level to look better". I re-itereated I wasn't ready to purchase and was shopping for the best price, and if their price was the best, I'd be back on/before Monday to complete the sale. As he started to walk away (assuming he was going to print up a quote), he stopped, turned, and said "finish your shopping and bring me your best quote." I sat, flabbergasted for a moment. Then I said to Bill "guess I won't be back". Bill said "but he said he'd beat the price by $500" (the amount they'd beat it by was never stated). I said "and it is worth the paper it is written on..." considering I had nothing in writing, that is exactly what Jeremy's word was worth... Had they simply listened to the customer (instead of sticking to their script), they might still be in the running for the sale that is being completed Saturday at another Mazda dealer. But in not wanting to provide a written quote (when they were aware that was all I wanted to begin with at the point I was there), they lost the chance to even be in the running for the sale.Update 12/27 - I modified some of the ratings based on private communication between myself and Mr. Brian Orlove, the GM of Koons Mazda. Given that 2 of the 3 people I dealt with were polite and professional (and Mr. Orlove provided a very competitive quote), I also changed the recommendation to yes.

I was in the market looking for a mazda3 i grand touring and I got a call from Koons and that they had the car with the options I was looking for. I set up an appointment with them and Upon reaching the place Dan handed over an application for finance without even giving me a quote first and when I asked him about the price he said he had thought that he e-mailed me the quote. After I told him that I never received any e-mail from him other than the appointment confirmation he began searching for the details and then he said that they didn't have the car with them but could probably get it from a different dealer. When we began to negotiate the price he was rude and replied that if I couldn't afford a couple of extra 100's, I wouldn't be able to afford the car itself and it'd be better to look for a cheaper trim. When I asked him to reduce 300$ from the price quoted he said he hasn't got anything to loose but he'd have to remove the options I wanted to do that. He then went to consult with Pat who walked in without a formal greet and increased the price by $1000 and said it isn't Dan's decision regarding the price that counts and that it's his decision and that he doesn't know why Dan had quoted for such a low amount and if I wanted the car then I'd have to pay an additional $1000 from what Dan had quoted. It was either take it or leave it. The way Dan dealt had initially upset me but Pat's arrogance had really pissed me off and I left immediately without anymore say. My experiences with Koons Mazda have led me to believe that customer service isn't valued and that they need to learn how to talk with customers.

I already did one review for this dealership. That review focuses on Gustavo Rojas. This review is going to focus on the problem I encountered after my purchase of Mazda 3. When I got home, I discovered a problem with my contract. I contacted the dealership, and Brian Orlove immediately contact me. The next day I spoke with Linda Doherty (customer relationship manager), and she was friendly and attentive to my concern. She understood my concern and set me up with an appointment with the finance director Simon Boulware. Because of the snowstorm, I decided to cancel the first scheduled meeting. I ended up setting another appointment with Simon and went to see him today. He understood my concern and immediately fixed it. I am satisfied with the service that Linda Doherty and Simon Boulware. I will definitely shop here again.

My son and I were looking to replace his Mazda 3, which was totaled in an accident, with a similar vehicle. We found, on line, that Koon's had at least 2 black Mazda 3 vehicles in stock, with the best prices and certified Mazda guarantee. So we took a ride down to the dealership. yet, before we drove from Frederick to Silver Spring, I had previously contacted (Debbie?), the on-line manager, and she directed me to Mr. Fourte. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon, we were shown the two Mazda 3 cars. These were "guaranteed, certified, pre-owned vehicles", that supposedly had undergone a 165-point inspection. One of them had a bad scratch on the left rear side that had penetrated the paint. This was the model with more mileage. The other one had significant damage to the left front end. The headlight was severely scratched, the bumper was also damaged, and the undercarriage was hanging down and almost touching the pavement, as if the car had been in a collision. We took the latter car for a test drive, and Mr. Fourte acted as if nothing was amiss. However, my son and I could easily hear the wind buffeting the loose undercarriage and it even scraped on the pavement as we turned into the dealership. Mr Fourte did not mention this at all. Perhaps he didn't notice it? However, when pointed out to him, he called "James" from the service department, who assured us that they could fix the damage and make it "good as new", only it would take until Tuesday (This was Sunday). He claimed that it must have been damaged on the lot while parked. So my son wanted to explore another opportunity--a used Mazda 3 near Baltimore, but unfortunately they were closed on Sunday. When Mr. Fourte heard that we might be considering an "uncertified" Mazda, he called James in to give us a hard sell on the difference. James said that If we weren't fixed on a "certified pre-owned Mazda", then he had a number of Mazda 3s in the back and he was wiling to "deal". So there we were, caught in the nightmare position that you never want to be in, dealing with "snakes" who wanted to get your money anyway they can because they work on commission. Eventually, I agreed to buy the Mazda with the damaged front end, as long as they would fix it "good as new" AND deliver it to us in Frederick, which they did. Next, we waited almost an hour to meet with "dude", the finance guy. He tried very hard sell me a couple of things I didn't want and probably didn't need, but in the end, I finally gave up and purchased the "total coverage" for 60 months, including electric parts failure for about $2000. In return for that, I got an interest rate of 2.5% instead of 4.5%. Moreover, I was ready to put about $10,000 down on the $15,000 vehicle (price includes $2000 of hidden fees), but that was not acceptable! The minimum they would finance was $7,000. WTF? I feel like a fool., but you know how they gradually wear you down, partly by making you wait alone, and this experience was no exception. I should have known better. Part of the problem, the main thing, actually, was that we needed to replace a totaled vehicle immediately, and we were unwise about mentioning that to the sales staff. Now, about 2 weeks later, the plastic undercarriage has come loose again and is dragging. Nice job, Koon's... "pre-owned, certified..." We are thinking it is probably better to get it repaired somewhere else because obviously the Koon's auto techs suck. Two weeks and it is already broken again! I would not recommend going to Koon's for a used car, based on my experience. I have no perspective on their new car sales. I am posting this on the internet.

I recently was in the market for a 2012 Mazda 3i GT with Tech Pkg sedan. As I'm probably one of the few people out there that loves car shopping, I decided that I would expand my search to the surrounding five states and shoot off quotes to see who was the most competitive. As I didn't necessarily need a new car, I knew that there were still some 2012s left on the lot, and as such, could possibly score a decent deal. After contacting about 20 odd dealerships via the internet and receiving quotes back, I narrowed it down to three select locaitons. Koons Mazda happened to be one of the locations that I had received a fairly competitive quote from, but I wasn't thrilled with the idea of dealing with a Koons dealership since I had a subpar experience before (at a Koons Toyota location). I decided to give it a try and thought, "what do I have to loose?" After all, Koons Mazda was one of the closest dealerships to me and that made the price a little bit more attractive. When I did receive their quote, it was a couple of hundred dollars higher than the leading competitor. I asked the Patrick, the Sales Manager, what he could do to beat the other quote. The next day, I ended up visiting the dealership and let Greg and Pat know that I would just be test driving a 3 that not and would not be taking delivery, which the respected and understood. Upon arrival, Patrick immediately greeted me and knew who I was - later I was introduced to Greg and we went for a spin. When I returned to the dealership with Greg, I stated that while I loved how the car handled, it had a little less power than I was expecting and that I had some concerns. Without hesitation, I was given the option to take the vehicle home that night, so I could get some experience behind the wheel prior to making the purchase. This action was extremely generous and it definitely made me give Koons Mazda a second thought. The next day, I decided that I was ready to purchase the vehicle, but had a few concerns since the price was still slightly out of my budget. Patrick didn't let that stop him and actually offered me more than I expected, specifically for my trade in. I was up front about what I wanted, where I wanted to be with payments and all at the same time, Greg and Patrick were both going to extra mile to assist me. Joe Flowers, the F&I Manager was EXTREMELY patient with me in that I like to read everything over and was more than happy to explain what each line item meant. He went the extra mile and offered me services, which, in my opinion, were worth the investment (thanks Joe!). All said and done, I ended up leaving the dealership with a new car, a trade in that I was exstatic about (yes people, they really are serious when they say they will pay up to 125% of the fair KBB price) and the peace of mind knowing that I was respected for my time and that both Patrick and Greg were willing to work with all my requests since I know I can be the customer from at## to deal with. Good work guys and thanks again for all of the countless hours and help. Job well done!

On Sunday March 24, 2013 I went to CarMaxx in Laurel MD to look for a Toyota vehicle. Went there looked at a highlander but did not like it. But - I saw a Lincoln SUV it was not available for purchase as someone else was interested in the vehicle. We looked on cargurus and found a Lincoln at the Ford/Lincoln in Silver Spring MD. Drove there and was assigned Mr. Fourte who proceed to let us test drive the Lincoln we saw on line. That was the vehicle for me. We then proceeded to follow through with the paper work. At that time we were introduced to Mr. J. Carver who proceeded to negotiate the terms and conditions of the purchase. Followed by the finance officer Mr. Boulware who explained the finance arrangement available through the Ford Finance company. I decided to finance the vehicle through Ford as the interest rate provided by Ford was better than my credit union. Lastly we drove home with the vehicle of our choice. What a great experience..A satisfied customer!!!!!

I recently went to pay cash for a 2006 Ford Explorer Limited I found online for sale at this dealership. I started speaking to Rich Sanchez who told me the truck was in excellent condition and good to go. I was coming from two hours away so that was a HUGE deal for me! I spoke to Rich several times throughout the day and kept hearing "the truck is ready" " the truck is ready!". Sooo... I left work at 5 got there around 7 only for Rich and his manager Jared to greet me and let me know the truck was not ready to go because it did NOT pass MD inspection! My question was " Why would you list it for sale and be making deals when it was not even ready to go?!?!?! As with ALL their answers he was bleak and changed the subject fast! They then told me there was a problem with the 4x4 system that they did NOT have to fix to sell the truck! So after an hour of getting nowhere Jared made a verbal agreement that I pay half of the parts and no labor and he would fix the truck and have it 100%. The part was $1420 so my price went up $710 which I was NOT happy with! So that Friday I wrote the check for $13,392.68 with a promise my truck would be ready for pick up the following Tuesday or Wednesday. When I showed up Wednesday to get the truck NO ONE knew what they were doing! They did NOT even have my folder with all my paperwork! They had not replaced anything they promised and told me they had mis diagnosed the problem and it was not the part I had paid for. When I asked for my $710 back Jared sent the Customer Relations woman ( Linda) and another sale person (Denard Carey, who is EXCELLENT!!) out to talk to me about it. He would NOT come from behind his desk to explain what was happening. He LIED to me and was trying to sell me a busted vehicle. He offered NO warranty and said he wanted to sell the vehicle "to someone who is looking for a second or third car". What a JOKE!! He knew the horrible transmission problems this thing has and is Just trying to pawn it off on someone else. Along with many un answered calls and un fulfilled call backs this was an over all HORRIBLE DEALERSHIP! It took over a week after that to just get my money back. Then on my refund check there is a note that states "Refund for Down payment deal # 293611". I guess this is their way of hiding from corporate the huge deal they blew! This was NOT a down payment, this was a CASH transaction!! I would tell people you have a better shot and more of a chance dealing with strangers on Craigslist! This used car dealership is a joke and a RIP OFF!! They are still trying to sell this truck with horrible problems so I hope this will prevent someone from making a mistake and purchasing from this dealership! STOCK#00F4734A. VIN#1FMEU75886ZA13869. This is a 2006 Ford Explorer with EXTREME mechanical problems! WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP!!!

After doing a lot of research on dealerships in the DC metro area, I found that Koons of Silver Spring offered me the lowest price off the bat in an email/phone quote for the car I wanted, so I decided to work with them. Despite not having the exact model and color that I wanted, they were more than willing to get it from another dealership. Make no mistake, I absolutely LOVE the car itself (CX-5 touring edition) and the end price was good but the overall experience was atrocious and I would NEVER recommend anyone going to this dealership. This is the shadiest car dealership I have ever been to and that is saying a lot. My friend and I reached out to a number of dealers looking for quotes to compare. Koons offered me a good price initially so when I spoke with the salesman on the phone on a Friday afternoon, he seemed very nice and accommodating. He also sounded about our age and I was hopeful this would be a good buying experience. He said they didnt have the car we wanted but a dealership in Baltimore had almost the car we wanted except it also had roof rails and wheel locks--which I wasnt interested in. He said there werent any others in the area and this was closest to what we were looking for so I ended up giving him my credit card number for a deposit so that they could secure this car and make a trade with the Baltimore dealership. He of course encouraged me to come in to the dealership as soon as possible so I told him the earliest we could come would be the following day in late afternoon/evening. He said the dealership was closing at 7 so to please come as early as possible. I told him we would be driving from Fairfax and probably be hitting Saturday traffic but we would get out there as early as we could. I even offered to schedule for another day but he said no, he would be more than happy to wait for us. We agreed on a 5:30 appointment. Saturday around noon, the salesman called to tell me that the car from Baltimore that my credit card number had supposedly secured and I was supposed to be purchasing in a few hours, was no longer in fact available. He said though that a dealership in Fredericksburg had a car that was the touring edition in white like I wanted but that it didnt have roof rails or wheel locks. Naturally I was confused as to why they didnt attempt to get THIS car in the first place when I told him I wasnt interested in the roof rails or wheel locks. I was also curious as to why my credit card number didnt in fact secure the original car as he said. Since this second was the car I wanted exactly though, I told him to go ahead and trade with the Fredericksburg dealership to get it.After sitting in traffic for an hour and a half on the beltway, we arrived at the dealership at 5:45. We sat down to start the process and as soon as we began to negotiate, things went downhill. It was obvious they were trying to get us out as quickly as possible. It seemed as though they judged us wrong and we were not respected as legitimate customers. The sales manager came over and instead of shaking our hands and introducing himself, he walked over with an attitude and just appeared annoyed that he had to deal with us. I heard someone in the background mention they were going to a Christmas party so I assume that is why they were in a rush to close up. He was downright rude. He actually even said to me, Look, we did YOU a favor by getting this car. I should have said, No, we are doing YOU a favor by keeping you in business and choosing to buy this car from YOUR dealership and then promptly walked out. But the car was sitting right outside of the door, beautiful and sparkling new with my name on it and we had driven all this way so it seemed unrealistic to walk away now. After agreeing on an acceptable price, I was passed on to the finance manager. He naturally offered me all the add ons and extra warranties and also seemed to get annoyed and didnt understand why I turned down their special maintenance and service package that was only available at their dealership which was again, an hour and a half away from my house. He also seemed irritated when I told him I was transferring my registration from my old car to the new caras if it was too much paperwork. We drove off thinking everything was ok and only wishing I hadnt been pressured into giving them a very HIGHLY inflated customer service survey rating while we were there. I should have known when the salesman said Oh, just give us all 10s, that they didnt actually care about what people really thought. At that point though, all I wanted to do was get out of there. That Monday after I had spent the entire morning calling our insurance company, Fairfax County, and DMV with the new car information, I got a call from our salesman telling me that a mistake had been made and that they had put the wrong VIN number on all of the contracts we signed and he asked me to come back to the dealership and sign everything all over again. I politely told him no, and that it was their mistake and I was not taking time off of work, sitting in traffic, and wasting my gas to fix their mistake. I also asked him how such a mistake could have been made and he just rambled some excuse that didnt make any sense. After 5 minutes of us going back and forth on a good time for us to meet, he agreed to come to my work the following day at noon with the new contract and to call me in the morning letting me know when he was on the way. When noon rolled around the next day and I still hadnt gotten a call, I called him to see if he was still coming. When he picked up the phone he was clearly still at the dealership and when I asked him if he was still planning to come, he replied, Ohhh yeahhhh, ummmm, when would be a good time? It was as though he had acquired amnesia and completely forgotten about our conversation the day before. He said he would leave within 30 min and be there by 2. At 2:00 he showed up with the new contract and while going through the papers, I made note of the final total amount financed on the contract to make sure it was the same as the original and to my best memory, it was. He then went outside to change the temporary license plate because I had of course been driving around with a tag and registration for a completely different car. I can only imagine what would have happened if I had gotten pulled over and tried to explain all of this to the police. About 2 minutes after he left, I realized I was being a fool and should have compared the contracts side by side to ensure every single bit of it was exactly the same. I ran out to my car and grabbed the old contract which was still in my glove box (just in case I HAD gotten pulled over before the wrong VIN number situation was fixed) and of course when looking over the two contracts, I realized they were completely different. The total amount financed was only off by a dollar and change which explains why it didnt hit me that it wasnt the EXACT same number as the original contract but when looking over the whole thing I realized that everything was completely different. The down payment was different, the car price, the taxes, even the registration fees were different. I immediately called the salesman and told him to turn around because the contract was wrong. He told me that he had already left but that he would call his manager and see what the problem was and get back to me. Following that, I got multiple calls from another manager, another finance person, and then finally the finance manager I worked with originally the night I bought the car. After explaining the situation to all 3 people and no one giving me a reason or explanation why, I was extremely angry. The sales manager even said to me the amount is only off by a dollar so I dont understand why you are mad. He simply could not understand why I felt completely scammed by their dealership. After 2 hours of angry phone calls and no reasoning, the finance manager finally called me back again and explained what happened. He said that the Mazda loyalty discount we received is technically considered customer cash and must be counted as part of the down payment. The original contract included this discount in the total price of the car. He said that this in turn affected the total price of the car which then affected the taxes and other fees. He also said that since I reside in Virginia and the dealership is in Maryland, they can only estimate what registration fees will be. When I asked him what would have happened if the VIN number was never put on the contract wrong because they charged me an extra $22 for registration originally, his response was Well we probably would have eventually sent you a check for the difference because we cant by law charge you any extra than what the actual registration fee cost is. I find it very hard to believe a dealership just over the border in MD never sells a car to anyone who lives in VA and they have no way of knowing exactly what the registration cost will be. It was obvious he made major mistakes on the contract and they thought they could get away with having me sign a completely different contract under the guise that just the VIN number was wrong without explaining what happened with everything else. When asked how any of this could happen, I got nothing but excuses that didnt make any sense from everyone including the managers. If they had been honest and upfront and let me know that the new contract they were bringing would be different instead of trying to hide their mistakes, I would be a much happier customer. As if all of that wasnt more than enough drama, 15 minutes after the last call with the finance manager, I got a call from someone in their service department asking me about my last experience servicing my car. I tried my best to keep calm because I knew this girl had had nothing to do with the contract issues. When I explained that she was mistaken and we hadnt brought any car to be serviced but we did buy a new car on Saturday night, her response was oh well it says in my system that you did so YOU must be mistaken. And to make the entire rotten experience complete, I have now gotten 3 additional phone calls since then from 3 new people asking to explain why I have had such a terrible experience. None of whom have given me any legitimate explanation for all the problems and bad attitudes Ive come across. It is very obvious that they do not actually care about their customers being happy, because if they did, they would stop harassing me and asking me to rehash the experience over and over again only to offer me no recourse. Sorry for the novel but I want everyone to know what a terrible experience this was at Koons Silver Spring. There are a ton of dealerships in the area and I would have gladly paid a little more for the car at another dealership to have avoided this whole mess. Dont spend your money at this dealership!

We visited Koons Mazda after doing research on Kelly Blue Book into pricing for Mazda2s. We were impressed by the price of the vehicle they had listed available online and were the first customers in the building the morning we made the trip to the dealership. As first time car buyers, our excitement for purchasing a vehicle probably clouded our judgement as we test drove one vehicle and then promptly decided to purchase. When we sat down with the sales representative, he had difficulty finding the car with the pricing that was listed online. It was later brought to our attention by the manager that the price online for an automatic was actually the price of a manual vehicle, making the vehicle about $500 less expensive then it should be priced. We felt that this was misleading given that we came to the dealership specifically to see the vehicle listed online at the given price point. After much back and forth, the manager told us that he'd "split the difference" and while we thought this price differential should be borne by the dealership for their error, we agreed to foot some of the additional cost. One thing we noticed about the vehicle we purchased was that there was a large scrape on the side of the car and so we brought it to the attention of the sales representatives prior to purchase. We were assured he would take care of it for us and were told to come pick up the car later the next week. When we arrived at about 6PM on a weekday to pick the car up after we were told it would be ready, we were informed that the car was not ready and waited for nearly an hour in the office while they performed a "quick" clean up job. Once the vehicle was finally ready, we did a more thorough inspection of the paint since we now had reason to suspect that the dealership might not be doing their due diligence. Unfortunately, we found another chip on top of the car. When we asked why the car was not inspected when the first scratch was found, we were told that since we didn't bring any other issues to their attention, they didn't look for them. The sales representative did agree to pick the car up personally on a Sunday and give us a loaner while this second paint job was being handled and I appreciated that gesture. He also told us to contact customer service to explain what had happened with the car and that they could throw in another programmed key for us free of charge. We took his advice and called and were told that we could get a new key when we picked up our tags. After receiving a card in the mail saying our tags were ready, we called the dealership to confirm that we could have our tags picked up and installed on the same day as we picked up the new key. We asked if we had to make an appointment for this and were told we could come in anytime from 8-9PM. Of course, when we went to pick up our tags at 6PM, we were told the shop closes at 5PM and that no one was alerted by customer service that we were promised a key. We now have to go back to the dealership one more time to get this new key programmed. This is the first online review I have ever written since I usually prefer to handle my business in person, but I was so disappointed with the service at Koons Mazda that I felt compelled to write this review. My experiences at Koons Mazda have led me to believe that there is very little internal communication in the dealership and that customer service just isn't valued. I find it ironic that the full tank of gas and new key we were promised as a result of poor customer service were not available to us due to further poor customer service. My experience has been really discouraging and disheartening. I don't really have any faith that the key will ever be ordered and at this point I'm ok with that since I really have no desire to ever deal with the staff at the dealership again.

Worked with Jason and Greg at this dealership for my recent purchase of 2013 CX-5. Great customer service and very competitive price, plus they made our buying experience very smooth on Friday evening. Would highly recommend this dealership and these sales men.

I originally brought an older car in for repair that had begun to be very expensive, I decieded to replace the car and purchased a used car. My experience was much better than any car buying experience I have ever been through. Kudos to the team I worked with.

We loved working with Pat. From the beginning of the sale to follow up after, we give him and the Koon dealership a 5 star rating. We purchased the Mazda 5 and love it. Pat helped us choose a model that was perfect for the needs of our family. If we're in the market for another car, we will definitely be paying him a visit! Thanks Pat for your superior service!

I looked at both Fords and Mazdas. I ended up purchasing two Mazda3s. I worked with two outstanding sales folks, Danaj & Gustavo, both extremely friendly in a very genuine way. The manager, Brian Orlove, was also outstanding. No pressure, just worked to help me. The deal was beyond anything anyone else would touch in the greater DC area. This is a GREAT place to do business. I never felt pressured in anyway whatsoever. And the finance guy, Hassan, was also excellent; fast and efficient. Best of all, no one tried to "up sale" me with this or that add on. Just good old fashion customer service. Now get this...I purchased the Mazda3 with SKYACTIV. They claim 40 MPG at 55 MPH. Well this isn't true...it's BETTER!! I got on the ICC, reset the Avg Mileage computer, engaged cruse control at 55 MPH and for 18 miles, the average MPG was 47.8! Remember, this is an ALL GAS engine, not a hybrid. KUDOS to Mazda! And even greater KUDOS to Koons Ford & Mazda for treating me so well.

This was the absolute best car buying experience I've ever had. Samantha Gill in particular, and really every person I dealt with, was honest and forthright and truly spectacular to work with. Samantha listened to what I wanted, did her utmost to help me find the car I wanted, and never pressured me into buying anything I did not want to buy. She gave me the space and options to make the best decision. Jason got me the car I wanted in half the time I expected, and then offered me fair market price so I didn't even need to negotiate. It was such a great experience after visiting other dealers who quoted me prices that I knew were too high based on the information that's available to anyone on the internet, but worse, who treated me with the shady "let me talk to my manager" nonsense anytime I had a simple question. Finance was simple and easy, and again, I was not pressured into buying anything I didn't want.I highly recommend this dealership, and Samantha in particular, to anyone who wants an efficient and respectful car buying experience at the best price around.

They have the best service I've encountered in a long while. Just came in to look around from an invite from Debbie. I was not prepared or expecting to purchase a new car but the service and friendliness was so professional and welcoming that they made it so easy to say yes! Great job guys, keep up the very good professionalism. Thank You All!!

So...I actually never bought a car from Debbie. We negotiatied over email and all was a no pressure situation from the start. At the end of the day, we were just a bit too far apart to make the deal work. That said, Debbie was fair, honest and up front and she honored my request to keep it strictly to email, was fair in her price negotiations and quick to reply to emails. Just couldn't bridge that final gap on money. I will end up buying my leased car used, but that is not a reflectio on Debbie's professionalism or honesty just a simple matter of economics.

They'll "wow ya" with bad service. Very condescending and unprofessional. Sales associates spent more time playing on their phones than helping customers. Very pushy sales people. They also lied to my face about the number of accidents my car had, and what the value of it was. After I called them out on it, they admitted they had made everything up. Go elsewhere, this place is shady to the max.

Buyer beware! This dealership's service department is horrible. Overpriced parts, overbilled labor charges, unnecessary work, and incompetent diagnostic skills. you'll get better service from a local mechanic. I was billed over $2700 for a 04 Mazda3 to have struts and shocks placed on my car (about $1500 job according to other Mazda dealership service dept) The thing is, I took my car to them to have a grinding sound fixed in the front end of my car. Yeah, they put rear shocks on my car to fix a front end issue! I had to take my car somewhere else to get it fixed properly, but Koons still wants me to pay them for their useless repairs. When I crossed referenced my invoice agaist other Mazda servcie departments cost estimates for the work Koons performed, Koons has higher part prices, higher labor prices, and they billed too many hours for labor. And speaking of invoices, Koons' will omit itemizing any hours on their invoices which makes it harder for you to capture where the money gets padded into your bill.Bottom line...Beware of this dealership. They'll lie to you about what your car needs and find a way to pad your bill with as many overcharges as possible.p.s.This is the second time I am posting this negative review about this dealerhip. The first one disappeared :|

Our Sales person was Chris Vera. Very personable. Had car ready and waiting in front when we arrived. Took care of everything. Did not feel pressured in any way. Duke was great too. Finance man was John, very straight forward and did not feel like I was getting sold down the river. Great experience at a car dealership and I'm not one to say that. Love that the details were handled and that everyone listened to our needs. I would definitely recommend the same team! Excellent work!

To me, buying a car is a very intimidating process. The very nature of the relationship between the car salesman and the consumer mandates that both players have differing agendas. With that said, I found Greg to be the most upfront and honest salesperson I have dealt with in a very long time, whether it is with a car purchase or otherwise. Truthfully, I personally am in a mid-life professional employment crises, having recently been laid off. Greg's demeanor was such that I am even considering exploring a career in new car sales...just because of him! I cannot give a greater accolade than that!

I had had my eye on a Mazda 3 at Koons in Silver Spring for a while and finally decided to take a look, despite the distance from both my work and home. The car was right in my price range and all my research showed that it was priced about right for the year, mileage etc. When I contacted the dealership by email to arrange a test drive they replied promptly and gave me the name of the person I would meet with. Chris was there when I arrived and was very upfront about the car, the features, and wasn't defensive at all when a couple of little things were pointed out, instead addressing them quickly (e.g., antenna missing so she went and got the correct one to attach). I loved the car but felt no pressure to make a decision and finalize the deal - it was all at my own pace. Which was especially nice since this was my first car buying experience and I'd been worried about pushy salespeople and getting ripped off! There were problems at my end (unable to get insurance due to the hurricane coming that weekend and needing the car quickly) and Chris as well as Jacob were very patient and stayed late to make sure as much as possible was signed and organized for me. When the dealership lost power in the hurricane I felt like they did everything they could to ensure I could get the car when I needed it - and even though it was a hassle to go there another two times I didn't mind all that much because both Chris and Jacob were very friendly and easy to deal with. I'm very happy with the car and the buying experience.

What I needed was a car which would be comfortable to ride, safe, sleek, and give me great mileage on the highway. The Mazda 3 fit all of those categories. Thanks to the entire staff; Steve Ellison (Sales) who took the time to show me all of my controls and features on my new car. Thanks to Steve Novak (Finance Director) who took me step by step through all of my financial options, which in turn helped me save lots of money. Thanks to Alex Perdikis (General Manager) who impressed me the most with his knowledge of his dealership, and employees. Checking in on me several times making sure I was completely satisfied with every step of my deal, talking me through many car options, while not feeling pressured at any time. And then there was Jacob (Finance Manager), who made all that paper work seem like a breeze to sit through. Note: This was my first transaction with this dealership, and I hope that there will be many more in the furture. Thanks again!

These guys are a perfectly good dealership, and Debbie and Greg are both knowledgeable and nice and friendly...until you want to go with a better deal. I rated their customer service as "OK" because they stayed late and let me test drive a Mazda 6 I wasn't sure about buying from them after visiting other dealerships, even though they had to jump it...but then again the reason I had to stay so late was because it took them 45 minutes to look over my price quote from another dealership just to tell me they could beat it by $100.As far as friendliness goes, they are nice, they shake your hand, look you in the eye, and offer you a Coke, ask you about your family, but then again what dealer doesn't? Once you start talking about price differences, they're not "hostile," but they do start trying to make you feel guilty for trying to get the best price, talking about how they're already at the point where they're not making any money, and how they don't want to get caught in a bidding war where the price is going down little by little...as if it's your job to make sure they're getting as much profit on the deal as possible, and as if it's not your job to get the best price you can for you and your family. My overall experience was horrible. I went into the dealership the night before I bought and gave them my quote, and it took them 45 minutes to decide they could beat it by a dollar. Fine. The next day I called my first dealership choice and told them Koons had the best offer, and they said they could match. Since Koons had made a big deal about how great a deal I was already getting, and how they were seeing next to nothing on that deal, they wouldn't go any lower, so I called to say I was sorry, but I was taking my business elsewhere...and they went lower, but Greg already started in with the guilt...saying that "at some point this craziness has to stop." Then one other dealer I hadn't heard back from came out of nowhere with an offer hundreds lower I called both of the dealers back to tell them I had to go with that offer. The first dealer said he understood, and if it turned out not to be legit to let him know, but Koons said they'd beat it by $100 (suddenly they were $700 below a price they quoted as making zero profit on...how they've stayed in business at that rate, I don't know). He kept trying to get me to commit to coming in, so I said, since the other dealer said they couldn't match and he said he would, I'd go with them...and then a little bit later the other dealer called and said they could come up with a better offer. I called Greg and tried to say I'm sorry, but I have to go with the best offer...and all I got was an earful of "You gave your word." I tried to explain I had said I'd go with them in good faith, thinking the other dealer couldn't beat them, and that ultimately I had to go with the best offer, but I had to get read the riot act. Then Debbie comes on the phone, talking about how I "gave my word," how she had to get the car washed and that cost them money (as if they couldn't do that when I was actually in the dealership signing papers for two hours), and asking if it was "just about the money." Then in a huff she said she didn't want to do business with me and hung up. THEN she sent me an email berating me in the same manner. I certainly understand the frustration of having a deal and then having it fall through at the last minute, but I think trying to make someone feel guilty for going with the best price available to them is highly unprofessional, and it's a shame they marred the experience like that, as otherwise I would have rated them highly. On price, they were fine...they seem willing to match any offer, but like any dealership they won't go as low as they can right away...just taking off $100 here and there, which is what I expect..perfectly fine. But they weren't the best out of the gate, and you won't get the best if you just go with them, but they're fine.Ultimately, my verdict is this: They won't rip you off...I definitely would trust them...I would have had no problem taking my car in there with confidence. They're good salespeople. But before you go in, be sure you have the absolute best price you can get from elsewhere...and they'll probably match it. And if you want to keep shopping around, don't let them bully you into "stopping the madness." Get the best price you can...and don't call them until you are driving off another dealership's lot in your new car, or else an "I'm sorry, but I'm going elsewhere" call turns into a "We'll give you another $100 off" which will turn into them, when they ultimately get rejected, accusing you of "creating" a bidding war (instead of just saying "Thanks, have a nice day" like every other dealership I rejected said).

*** Just wanted to update that I spoke with a Manager for Koons Mazda Service Department (will not name names) and wanted to state that he was friendly and understanding of my frustration. I respect and appreciate that he came to talk to me and in a way calmed me down (mentally) as I was still upset with the fact that I spent longer time here than originally told. I have been Mazda Owner (various models) since 1998 and I came into the Koons Mazda Service Department to have my 2010 Mazda 3 (officially 1 year old) inspected for the State of Maryland (after just moving back). My appointment started at 7:45 and about 2 hours later I was informed by one of the service reps that my tie-rod was damaged, the car would not pass inspection for Maryland and that I would need to have it replaced. I was told by the rep that they would have to order the part locally and that it would take another hour or hour and a half for the part to get there, and then for the part to be installed and the rest of my service to be finished. Around 1 pm after much waiting I sought the service rep who then told me that the part was not ordered and that it would go under the "afternoon run" for parts. That my job would be done by 3:30. This is unacceptable when you cannot really guarantee service to be done on time (I do understand that they are at the mercy of the third party source). When I decided that I would take my car and go elsewhere, the service rep. conveniently found out that the part was there and the mechanic was working on it as we spoke. There just seemed to be miscommunication with the mechanics and the service reps. After speaking with the Manager (see above) I am still on the fence about returning for future service, but again his reaction and patience was very encouraging. I am still disappointed, (but not as angry) because in the city where I previously lived, I had all work done at my Mazda Dealership and they were prompt, courteous, and very clear with all information about services to be performed.

Sales person Greg,I just wanted to thank you for your great work. In my last review, I gave overall dealership review with a few mentioning you. I decided to add a few comments about salesperson especially. I believe, you will keep your way of doing business. We are more than satisfied with your customer service. Again, thank you for your professional work. Customer's appreciation is the best award. Your honesty and open mind view of doing business are impressive. Also, we believe, you will be one of the best diamonds in Koons ring. We will certainly go back to you and Koons for the next car purchase. I am happy for other customers who were satisfied with your service and with Koons. We are customers and we respect honesty. Greg and Debbie, you guys are the best. Please just keep your way of customer service. Warm regards,Customer umkadc

This was a refreshingly straightforward and smooth auto-buying experience. The dealer was able to come within $300 of matching the low price on a new, 2011 Mazda 3 sedan offered by a dealer in Annapolis, and having the car in stock and within much easier access of my home made me opt for Koons. Greg Ellison was extraordinarily friendly and helpful in a laid-back, genuine sort of way, and there were no pressure tactics used. In fact, once we had negotiated the price over phone and e-mail, he insisted that I test-drive the actual car I was buying before turning to any paperwork, even though I had test-driven one at another dealership a few days earlier. When I wanted to double-check the final figures before signing off on the "pencil" sheet, Greg told me to take my time, and walked away for several minutes so that I could run through my figures with no hint of pressure. They all matched exactly what we had agreed to. (Incidentally, Greg got me a reasonable price for my trade-in vehicle, given how bashed up it was. I had asked for a little more, hoping for precisely the compromise price that I was offered in turn.) When I was handed over to the finance man, he offered me the various extended service warranties, the Lojack security system, etc., but was perfectly cool about it when I simply told him that I was declining all of those (typically over-priced) options. So I came away with a very good deal, a phenomenal car, and a happy, stress-free experience.

I highly recommend this dealer and Byron Wyatt specifically. The dealership was willing to work with my extensively with reaching a satisfying price for a new Mazda 3. I appreciated their willingness to answer all of my questions and explain everything we were going over, whether it was paper work or questions I had about the car. If Byron did not know an answer to a question or was not 100% sure of the answer, instead of making something up on the spot that sounded good, he would talk with another sale representative in order to find out the correct answer, which I truly appreciated! This is a fabulous dealership with great employees! Thanks Byron for a great experience!

Alex, Debbie, and Hopeton made the purchase of a new car great. They provided a quick and simple process without any of the games that other car dealers try to play. I was given my asking price and the paper work only took around twenty minutes. The experience as a whole was pleasant and i would highly recommend Koons for an auto purchase.

Amy was the positive aspect of this experience. The impression of Koon's, as a whole, was poor. There was long waiting period between each process. Too many people just standing around. The showroom is not aesthetically appealing (dirty). Someone was burning something or smoking in the bathroom.
