My family went in to Matt Slap Subaru on a Saturday with no real expectations. We heard good things from friends/coworkers about this dealership but weren't sure what would happen with our situation. We were approached calmly while walking around outside, we didn't feel pressured at any point in the car shopping experience, and we left completely satisfied. The employees went above and beyond what we would've imagined. We felt as though every employee we dealt with was open, honest, suggestive (not pushy), and knowledgeable. Once the paperwork started, we were informed of what was to come along the way, multiple times, so we had an idea of how much longer we'd be there, in case we needed to make any arrangements with the sitter at home. It's only been 3 days since we found our new car and we've already recommended this dealership to a few friends!

I went to this dealership needing to replace my 2002 Subaru, which served me very well with minimal service needs. I was greeted by Rob Wolfe, who determined my needs and interests, and planned a test drive for me on the following day, of the car which I have leased and with which I am extremely pleased. He was very courteous, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. I would highly recommend his services.

Mark Lynch gave me the best car buying experience I ever had. No pressure on his part and he found me the perfect car. After my purchase he made sure he explained all the new features that my old car didn't have. I left Matt Slap knowing I made the right decision on the place to purchase any future cars. Will definitely recommend your dealership to all my friends.Eleanor March

Laura Hart was a pleasure to work with. Not your typical "salesperson" NO pressure in over the 4 months I worked with her to find the perfect vehicle! She kept in touch on a regular basis but wasn't pushy! Very knowledgable about Subaru's in addition to other vechiles! I was very interested in the safety features eyesight, lane departure, blind spot, & back up camera which she explained in detail. So happy with my choice planning coming back in the future for my next subaru, as well as referring others to Laura at Matt Slap!

Although I understand that there are clowns in de that solely come here to test drive a wrx to drive it, without planning to purchase. I was not one of those people when I came in today. Due to unforseen circumstances, my audi broke down unexpectedly and I am in dire need of something of equivalent nature - i.e. I need to buy a car this week and am pressed for time. When I called asking about test driving the wrx, I was told there's some process I have to go through and that I should come in without bringing anything. I spent an hour going through what I can only guess are "tests" to see if I am serious about buying the car. In the end, the salesman deemed me unfit after about an hour. So, i ended up wasting an hour of my time that I could have spent at a dealership that would have accepted my business. I'm shocked & offended and I will not be coming back - but this is probably not the first time you've heard this as a result of policies.

This started out as a typical new car buying experience, with pleasantries and such when the nitty gritty came down, our salesman did his job and went out of his way to work with us. His demeanor was very courteous and professional, and in the end, we received a favorable and fair deal. Matt slap and our salesperson, Rob Wolfe maximized our pleasure and we went home satisfied with our new Subaru. My wife and I recommend this dealer to others and will return for our next vehicle.

I knew what I want since Nov.2015, but not sure if I was able to handle the sales pressure or how to deal with the talking. After looking and observing 4 dealers around the area, I decide to call the MATT Slap dealer. I will tell you that from the initial test drive (first in 16 years) I went with Chris M. he did not try to convince me or try to sell me the car, he just listen and willing to answer questions. The next day I went with My son to look at the cars, an it was Chris scheduled time to leave, he stayed and open a car for us and allow my son to get into the car and get familiar with the interior. I told him That I may go back in a week. He did respect that time frame and did not solicited any additional information. When I went back on the day that I scheduled, he really help me to process the big occasion and the most important issue was that Chris treat my wife and myself with politeness and respect, good enough to allow me to definitely not feel guilty about buying a new car . We left content, definitely looking forward to get my second Subaru from Matt Slap. The other 2 gentleman's also were sincere and right true . Thanks

Over the past few weeks, my boyfriend has been looking for a new car. Both of us are car enthusiasts, so naturally we were interested in seeing / test driving a Subaru with its AWD capabilities. Even as a younger couple in our early 20s, all 4 dealerships weve visited (before Subaru) have treated us in a professional and respectful manner. We knew specifically which car we were looking into (WRX), so we called in advance to see if there was one available on the lot. A sales associate confirmed there was one, so we drove over to see the car in person. After a brief introduction on the sales floor and specifying the car we were interested in, the associate immediately questioned my boyfriends financial status. He sat us down at an empty desk while he checked the inventory at his desk, in the cubicle beside us. Confirming from the inventory that there was a car on the lot which we might be interested in, he took us outside. After pointing to the trunk from a distance to indicate which car it was, he confronted us to find a specific price point before showing us the inside of the car. This model had many upgrades and was outside of our price point, but a simpler model without the upgrades was within our price range (as we determined by online research). He immediately turned away from the car and directed us back to the show room, without having pulled out the keys or unlocking the car for us to see.He again sat us down at the same empty cubicle next to his and went to look for cars within my price range. During this time, another associate began chatting, laughing, and talking to him about fantasy football. The associate eventually came to the empty desk we had been waiting at, sat on his knees facing backwards, and spun around in a swivel chair. After conceding there were cars nearby that were close to our price range and my boyfriend conceding he was willing to come up if he liked the car, the associate ensured us it was impossible to test drive the car without agreeing to a specific price beforehand. What really bothers me is that given he liked the car he was willing to purchase a car that day. It really seemed like the associate judged us for being too young, and didnt think we had enough money to pay for it (which we did, and could have paid in cash on the spot). If you dont want to be judged by the way you look, dont go to Matt Slap Subaru.

I've been buying cars for over 35 years and seldom.....no never, have had such a great experience doing business with a dealership as professional, friendly, and accommodating as Matt Slap Subaru. My sales professional Ron was great, he took the time to help me decide between the Forester and the Outback and truly showed his concern for putting me in the right vehicle, (the Outback won). I knew what my price point was and Ron along with the sales manager Tom, worked with me toward a number that we all felt good about. Maybe I should give this one to my wife and buy another! If you're looking at Subaru, look to Matt Slap, you'll walk out with a smile.

Less than a week after purshasing my car, an element in my compressor was found to be broken. This passed the original screening of the car when I was purchasing the vehicle. A used car salesman named Chris has yet to remedy the issue that is going to cost close to $1000. I want to create a symbiotic relationship with this dealer where I can trust them for repairs and future business but I was told that it was off their lot and not their problem. Screwing over a first time buyer and his father with a credit score in the high 800s is not my ideal trustworthy relationship. They made their $10,000 for the car and I guess they aren't interested in making a lifelong customer. Heed my warning and go to any of the other dealers on the exact same street. Not worth the headache and potential pocket-ache. I saw many friendly salesmen in their but Chris was not and was not a good salesman! He didn't understand basic customer service and is currently still solidifying that opinion.

After looking locally in the DC area and dealing with some "not-so-helpful" dealerships we were more than happy to drive 2 hours and buy our new Outback from Matt Slap and Laura H. Spoke and texted with Laura for a week before driving up to purchase. She answered every question and was patient with me (even on her day off). Once we arrived to purchase our car, everything was smooth and thorough. As far as car buying goes, I cannot think of a thing that could have been done better. We will recommend this dealer and Laura to our friends and family.

In December of 2011 my wife and I bought a 2012 Subaru Impreza wagon. We love the car so much that as soon as we finished paying it off we went back for a 2016 Subaru Outback. Now we have two cars we love. I don't remember the name of the salesman that we bought the Impreza from. It was not the most pleasant experience as he was very much the typical car salesman and I had to haggle and initially walk away to feel confident I was getting a good deal. Needless to say, it was the car that sold me, not the salesman when we bought the Impreza. The second time around was different. Our saleswoman, Laura, seemed more sincere and straight forward compared to my previous experiences with both this and other dealerships. Part of that feeling may have been because I didnt put much effort into haggling over price since I knew how popular the Outback is and knew if we didnt buy it, someone else would. Dealerships are less likely to be flexible on prices of popular cars. But part of it is also certainly her demeanor while talking with my wife and I. She was professional, courteous and to the point. It made the experience easier. As a local school teacher, I would give her (and I suppose the dealership) an A+. After all, if they managed to sell us two new cars within 5 years, they must be doing something right.

I dislike buying cars and I am a contracts negotiator! Half of my experiences are bad (shell games, "good cop/bad cop" nonsense, last minute surprises...). This one, where I assisted a daughter in buying a used car was very pleasant. From dealing with internet sales, to being greeted by Laura H., to wrapping up the paperwork with Michael, the finance guy, all went smoothly. Laura was knowledgeable about cars, assisting me in coaching my daughter, and being patient as we rather thoroughly test drove a couple of cars. The negotiation process was pretty darn smooth too. Naturally, Laura was looking out for her dealership, while I was trying to get a reasonable deal. Fortunately, my research lead me to believe they were pricing the vehicle fairly from the get-go, so we did not have much to work through but what we did was done calmly, professionally, and ultimately, with a bit of humor. I'm looking for a Subaru dealer for life & I think I have found one!

I January 2015 I bought a Subaru Forster (new) from Matt Slap. Every step of the way I felt special, they could not do enough for me. Since then I have been using Matt Slap for the service on my car. Every time I bring the car in the Sales person (Laura H.) makes a point of speaking with me, asking me how I like the car and going out of her way to ensure I am happy with the car and with the service. The service department personnel have gone out of their way to answer my questions, to listen to my suggestions.I have been satisfied with each and every visit to Matt Slap and choose to continue to use them in spite of there being a closer Subaru Dealership.

New what she was talking about. Chris mooney very friendly and help with the final paper work . Would recommend to anyone looking for a Subaru. Only place I would buy one from. When we first walked into the dealership we were greeted by Laura, a very friendly sales woman. She was interested in what our needs were and addressed them accordingly. We were interested in the Subaru Forrester with the eye-sight and navi. She found a Forrester that met our needs and we were off! While driving she had me engage the eye-sight feature, wow, that was really interesting. At first I was a little apprehensive, this car IS really going to stop, but it did. I'm so glad she let us experience the eye-sight while test driving, I'm not afraid to use it now! We ended up buying the Forrester and the whole Matt Slap experience was great! Laura is an excellent sales woman, once we bought the car it was cleaned up, filled up then Laura went over all of the cabin features. Paired our phones, showed us how to work the navi system, showed us all of the dashboard gadgets, and told us to call or stop by if we ever had any questions. Next time I'm in the market for a car I will use Laura again.

I had a great experience dealing with Laura and the rest of the staff at Matt Slap Subaru. What I appreciated the most was the low pressure environment. I have had bad experiences in the past with pushy sales staff and trying to sell me something I don't want. I came in knowing exactly the car I was looking for (which they didn't have in stock) and instead of trying to sell me something they had on the lot they contacted multiple dealerships and had exactly the car I wanted there by the next day. Laura was also extremely friendly and made sure when I drove off the lot that I could contact her any time with any question about my new car.

I brought my 2015 Subaru Outback to Matt Slap after a bad experience with another Subaru dealer in Delaware. I relocated to Delaware and had to find a dealer to service my new Outback. I took it to a dealer located near my apartment and found that they were less than satisfactory. I had a problem with the Eyesight system and they couldn't diagnose it or even offer a suggestion as to what was causing the problem. I decided to try another dealer. After visiting a couple of Subaru dealers I selected Matt Slap and brought my Outback to them for a solution. They diagnosed the problem as a computer glitch that had a technical service bulletin from almost a year ago that had never been performed on my car, applied the fix and my car is now 100%. What a pleasure to find a service team that is friendly and accessible and KNOWS what they are doing.

I had come in to Matt Slap to get the climate control system on my 2006 Tribeca checked. They said it would it take some time so they offered me a loaner vehicle until they could fix the issue. My main point of contact there was Adolfo Aba. He was very genuine and provided me with great service. When the part finally came in I returned the loaner and got my vehicle back. Later I felt that the brake pedal was a bit loose. I called Matt Slap again and wanting to make sure I had peace of mind while driving my car they told me to bring the car back in for them to check it out free of charge. They again gave me a loaner car and I told them I would come back to pick up my Tribeca. However they offered me the option of getting the car delivered to my home. I was blown away by this. This is what I call Grade-A service. I would highly recommend this dealership for service.

I did research prior to making the decision to own my Outback, in particular the safety features. After receiving 4 different Internet quotes and talking to Mitch D on the phone a few times, it was a no brainier, I was purchasing a vehicle from him. I felt like I knew Mitch forever - he never pressured me in purchasing my outback from him - he only provided me with facts. I am a older single female and have purchased many cars by salesmen who only want to get their commission and not meet the customers need. Not Mitch, he took the time to understand my vehicle needs and educated me on all the features that the car had to offer. He was sincere in ensuring I received the best experience and that he met all my expectations. Thank you Mitch Denham for making this , by far, the best experience I've had in purchasing a car, none the less on the Internet!I would be remiss if I didnt comment on Michael Z in finances....he had all the paperwork completed and the process was flawless. Because Mitch explained to Michael the reason of me buying a new car, he was able, for a couple $$ more, provide me with a warranty that will meet my current needs. Thank you!Thank you formaking this the greatest experience in buying my new car.

I had a very good experience purchasing my new Crosstrek through Matt Slap Subaru. I used the internet services to initially obtain more information. The information provided was great and, in my opinion, the dealer seemed upfront with information which is a lot more than I can say about other dealerships who seem to want to hide information (i.e., their best offer, fees, etc.) until you are ready to negotiate. I do not have time to play the "sales" game. I was very please with my experience and the process of buying a new car (and negotiating) felt relatively painless.

After doing some research on the safety features I wanted on my vehicle, Subaru was the vehicle I selected. I had decided to go onto true car. I received 3 quotes. I decided on the Matt Slap Subaru. I dealt with Larry Kidd, he was very professional, but he made you feel at home. He assigned salesman Robert Wolfe for our vehicle test drive. What an experience we had with him. He made us feel that we knew him all our lives. He was able to explain all the features on the vehicle to us. The paper work was the same way; he saw a possible error on our part with the trade in title. He was able to fix the error and the sale paperwork went smoothly. The best part of our experience was having Robert Wolfe as our salesman. We would recommend this dealership to anyone, and we will. Robert Wolfe is a truly a professional and outstanding person. Here is my advice DO NOT GO TO MATT SLAP FOR REPAIRS. AND, DO NOT BUY A CAR THERE IF YOU INTEND TO USE THE DEALERSHIP TO DO YOUR CAR MAINTENANCE. AND FINALLY, IF YOU DO BUY A CAR FROM THEM AND THEY OFFER YOU THE DISCOUNTED MAINTENANCE PACKAGE AS PART OF THE UPSELL, DONT TAKE IT! The service here is horrendous. Let me recount the ways. A couple of months ago I scheduled an appointment to bring in my new Outlook to have some mud flaps installed. Initially I was going to have a bumper guard installed, but I changed my mind and called them to tell them to remove this from my order. When I came in I reiterated that I did not want the bumper guard and they agreed that this is what was on the work order. 4 hours later, twice as long as they told me the mud flap installation was going to take place, the car was finally ready. And yes they installed the bumper guard anyway. The person there acknowledged that the bumper guard was not supposed to be installed, but he had no authority to do anything about it and told me a manager would call me. Then a few weeks later I received the bill for the mud flap and bumper guard installation. No call from the manager, no discussion, no explanation, nothing. After calling them and discussing this for a long time, wasting a lot of time I will never get back, the manager was gracious enough to charge me for the bumper guard, but gave me two free oil changes as compensation. The next time I called was to set up an appointment to replace a defective latch that caused my gas cap to stay closed and made it very difficult to pump gas. I was told that this was a common issue and they would order the part and call when it was in. 4 weeks later they still hadnt called, so I called to check on availability. They said it was there waiting for me. The only good thing is that they had taken so long that it was now time for my free oil change. So I made another appointment. As you may have guessed by now, when I got there they didnt have any record of my appointment. But apparently I wasnt the only one with a missing appointment. Looks like they have problems with software too. They were able to squeeze me in for the oil change, but, wait for it, they didnt have the gas cap part, even after their previous assurances that they had it waiting for me. So guess what I have to make ANOTHER appointment to get that fixed. I got 2 different stories from 2 people there. One said that it is a recall issue and one said no, it isnt a recall issue. But the real problem is that I have to waste part of another day off to take my car into Matt Slap. Maybe this time they will get it right. Also, one person says the part should be there in a couple of days and the other said it would be a couple of weeks. What Matt Slap doesnt realize is that they can never pay us back for the time we give up taking the car back for repairs that werent completed the first time. They have to get it right the first time. So now I have to take a big chunk of another day off to spend it with Matt Slap

I want to personally thank Rachel, the service writer, and the technicians who checked out my car, Cody and Eldred. If it weren't for them, their kindness and the fact they stayed late for me - I would not have made it back to VA when I needed to be there.I was heading to VA from NJ to work and visit family when out of nowhere, my car stopped accelerating. I had no idea what was wrong and thought "Oh hell, my car is gonna die and I need to get home tonight!" Thank goodness I had AAA and they gave me the info to contact Matt Slap Subaru - the closest AAA authorized repair facility. I informed them of what was going on with my car and told them I was waiting for the AAA tow truck. It was 5:00pm and the height of rush hour traffic. They informed me the service department closed at 6:00pm, but they would do whatever they could when I got there. The six mile drive to the dealership seemed to be the longest of my life - as it took 40 minutes and I was so distressed because the service department was going to close in 20 minutes. Were they going to be able to find out what was wrong with it and fix it in that time? After they got my car in the bay, Rachel informed me the technicians agreed to stay until they figured out what was wrong and it was fixed. I was so grateful and couldn't believe they would go out of their way to help me the way they did. They quickly assessed what was wrong and fixed the issue. They also topped off all my fluids. They had me back on the road an hour after I came in. They took care of me as though I had purchased my vehicle from them and I couldn't have been happier. I made it back to VA that night. I may never cross paths with any of these people again, but I promise this, I will never forget the kindness extended to me that day. I will be forever grateful!

Was looking for over 6 months for a new Subaru in my home town and was nowhere quickly. Could not find the configuation, prices way too high, etc. II expand my search to out of state dealers and came across Matt Slap Subaru. Tucker worked with me to find the car that I wanted. He put me into an Outback. At first I didn't believe the price they gave me , but when he took a deposit and more over emailed me a confirmation of the vehicle price and the usual fees with the Vin number, I was impresed. No dealer up here could or really would come that close. Mark L then called me to say he would be handling the rest of the deal when I came in. He was great, gave me his personal cell number, if I needed anything or for any questions, he even offered to pick me up from the station if I needed a ride . He went over the vehicle with me in detail, it was not one of those, now you paid and have a great day experiences. He even followed up 2 days later to see how everything goes was going on with me and the car. MIke Z was my closer, he explained to me my extended options with no pressure to purchase any of them. Great attitude and makes you feel comfortable. It was well worth the $19.00 bus ride !

I took my car to Matt Slap Service for an oil change and rotation of the tires. Less than 12 hours later I noticed the low pressure tire light was on. All 4 tires were low and the lowest to highest pressure difference was 20 PSI. 3700 miles after that same service I went to check the oil level and the oil cap was sitting on the battery and oil was all over the engine compartment. Needless to say I will not be bringing my car back to Matt Slap for service nor will I go back to purchase a Subaru. How hard is it to check the air pressure and put the oil cap back on. From the first exploratory visit, the buying experience has been totally satisfactory. I went in looking for brochures and Mitch greeted me, found the brochures I wanted, and was very courteous and informative. Subsequent visits served to reinforce my first impressions. This was the best car purchasing experience I have ever had. Over the years, I have purchased 11 new cars and one used car. My wife is ready to adopt Mitch as another son. I can't praise Mitch and the Matt Slap organization too much. Mike in finance was very nice to deal with and we were very pleased.

I had a great experience here. The showroom was beautiful and the salespeople were so friendly and helpful. Everyone was very professional. The lot looked great, the cars looked great as well!I had a wonderful time working with Mitch, who was very helpful, and not pushy at all. He listened to my needs, and was able to give me solutions. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with, and I'd definitely work with him again.

I took my car to Matt Slapp Service for an oil change and rotation of the tires. Less than 12 hours later I noticed the low pressure tire light was on. All 4 tires were low and the lowest to highest pressure difference was 20 PSI. 3700 miles after that same service I went to check the oil level and the oil cap was sitting on the battery and oil was all over the engine compartment. Needless to say I will not be bringing my car back to Matt Slapp for service nor will I go back to purchase a Subaru. How hard is it to check the air pressure and put the oil cap back on. I brought my wife's car in for an oil change and an overall checkup. After a while, the service writer tells me that the tech said my passenger side front wheel bearing needed replacement. It would cost around $600. I never noticed any problems with the car but that's a serious issue and I gave the okay. Looking through the billing that evening, I noticed a comment,"customer states wheel bearing making noise." I never said that. I called to speak to the service manager the following day, Friday, two times and I called again the following Monday once. I got no response. I emailed the owner but got no response. Did the car really need the work. It has 55k miles. I don't know. The fact that no one in management called makes me uncomfortable. I would normally get a second opinion but this was my wife's car and I was concerned about her safety. I recently purchased my second Subaru from the same dealer and I've had work done there without any problems. I doubt that they'll see me again.

We just purchased a CrossTrek from Matt Slap Subaru, and we are very impressed. We live in NJ and located the car we wanted by phone so we traveled quite a distance. The price quoted on the phone was the price we got from the dealer- great deal and no games! Our salesperson Laura was tremendous- informed, honest and professional. I would happily recommend this dealership.

Simply put. What you get is highly dependent on who you work with. My initial experience with this dealer was an individual named Harry. Now Harry compiled a list of vehicles for me, and told me some numbers over the phone when I first reached out to Matt Slap Subaru. After hearing the amazing numbers, I asked if he could e-mail what he had compiled over to me so I could look them over. He of course, agreed to do so. Over the course of the next two days, I called Harry 3 times asking again for the e-mail with the numbers and each time, he told me that he'd e-mail them right over. He never did. When I finally went into the dealer, I learned why he didn't. Simply put, he was lying to me. The numbers that he mentioned over the phone, the dealer could not do. So it became pretty obvious as to why he didn't want me to have a written record of the lies he told me over the phone. When I was there, I briefly met Harry who mentioned that he was just giving me possible ranges and misremembered. That is so difficult to believe since, when he gave me the initial numbers, he was supposedly reading them from a screen/document which he was supposed to e-mail me. Either he can't read or he was xxxxxxxxxxxx. Luckily, I was able to work with a different salesman who was great. Unfortunately, his name slips my mind at the moment. So simply put, what you get is highly dependent on the salesperson you get. And when they give you information over the phone, but then never send you the written record of that information despite requesting numerous times, means that the salesperson is xxxxxxxxxxxx you.

I recently purchased a 2016 Forester from Matt Slap and dealt with Harry Marker. My experience was far from what I anticipated. Harry was great to work with and made the experience a very positive one. He was patient with all my questions and concerns and worked with me through the decision making process. There was no pressure to add this or buy that; it was a discussion of what I wanted and needed. He was very professional and it was a pleasure dealing with him. From my experience, I would recommend both Matt Slap and Harry for the purchase of a new vehicle.

After we settled on a price we had a few concerns which were addressed and our minds put at ease. We would also like to thank Rob Wolfe who was very helpful when we were first coming to try and see the car. Thanks to both of you and Matt Slap we left feeling very good about our purchase! By far the worst service and worst person(s) I have ever experienced when shopping for a vehicle. If you want to waste your time and enjoy some comedy then visit Matt Slap. This is the second time I have experienced bad service here and I would never go back or recommend anyone to go ever. Dorian was a rude person from the start and remained rude throughout the entire fifteen minute sit down I had with him. Not only did he forget our names but he forgot his manners and effort. He sat there and belittled myself and my vehicle I was trying to trade in. Yes, I understand I have negative equity but you don't sit there and judge the person making them feel like crap. This wasn't my first rodeo with the negative equity situation so please keep your opinions at the front door. We got the payoff for my car and immediately I wanted to leave due to him being exceptionally rude. But he didn't even try to do anything, he walked over, said something, walked back and handed me my keys. Although it was the biggest favor he had done for me because I would have left anyway, but he was the only dealer in PA MD and DE that didn't at least TRY. Must mean they low ball their trades for their customers anyway. Also Matt Slap work on your professionalism, I don't extend and arm for no reason (to shake hands) and if your other employees with talk about their night and keep dropping F Bombs, they should probably be more quiet or go behind a closed door, just saying.

The CVT transmission on our WRX failed only after 2K miles of driving. Going to blame Subaru on that one. But the dealer handled everything extremely well, including the loaner car and overall quality of the repair. Ended up jumping through hoops to get a new transmission shipped from across the country being that the ports were backed up. So far everything runs well. I would come back again. (not the trans failure part though)

Car was picked up at 8 am Monday because of a dead battery. Called 4 times on Monday and was told only that they were calling Subaru about the problem and getting no answer. Finally, on the 5th call I was connected to the sales manager who told me they would need to keep the car overnight. He promised he would call first thing Tuesday morning. No call. After 3 calls to the service manager with no ability to speak with the service manager (who was with customers, I was told), I asked for the owner - of course, I got only voicemail. They have now had the car for 25 hours with no effort on their part to reach me. In 40 yrs of car ownership, this is unacceptable service.

Visited the dealer and was up front with Harry that I was using the Subaru VIP program price. He said the dealer would honor the VIP program price. I went back 2 days later to order the car and Harry told me the Sales Manager said participation in the VIP was at the dealer's discretion and they would order the car for around a grand more than the VIP price. I went to Concordville Subaru and ordered an Outback at VIP program price. Several years ago I bought a Subaru from Matt Slapp using the VIP program and when it was time to close, the amount due was about $500 higher than it should have been. I walked, the Sales manager called me and reworked the bill of sale and the amount was within a dollar of what I had calculated, I bought it from them but regretted rewarding bad behavior,My advice, you don't need the hassle of the games they play.

After researching for a safe & reliable vehicles through Edmunds, Gov.com & anywhere else I could find, we decided on the Subaru Forester. Going though our USAA website to have quotes sent to our email, I was flooded with phone calls from dealerships from 50 miles to home. After going to the dealership closest to home (Prestige Subaru), we couldn't deal with any more bad sales talk! I answered the calls on Thursday (8/7/14) with "I'm buying today and only want to know your best price for features I want"! Most gave me the "come in and we'll go over features". Done! Next?!!! Harry Marker from Matt Slap Subaru called and was one of the very few, to be helpful and gave me a bottom line; even bettering it with something he found on the lot that he thought I might like!! We walked in that night to a dealership that was full of NICE guys that were a pleasure to talk to!!! From the guy that was detailing the vehicle we chose, to the Manager of the dealership, we were very pleasantly surprised and felt it was worth driving from South Jersey to Newark, De because of the honest, straight forward conversations with everyone we encountered there. Everything was written up and done without being pressured to purchase whatever they could come up with! Without a doubt, we will be returning to Harry at Matt Slap for any future purchases! We've already recommended them to several friends. We bought the car 8/07/14 and I will update on future dealings. But, as of now; this is the place to go if you don't like fast talking salesman trying to pressure you and prefer to deal with someone you feel is a great neighbor you enjoy talking to over the fence! Thanks Harry Marker!!! We love our Forester!!

I saw a used late model Outback for sale on the Internet at Matt Slap with less than 25K miles and at a low price. Went down to drive it last weekend. The car was loaded with scratches, the exterior was dusty and dirty, and the interior wasn't even clean. I commented to the salesman that I was surprised by the condition of the car vs what was shown on the listing and the response was simply "what do you expect in a used car?" I drove the car anyway, and the salesperson insisted on riding along. I'm not sure why he wanted to be there since he just sat in the back quitely with basically nothing to offer except the location of a local restaurant when I attempted to break the awkward silence. After the drive, I asked about other available Outbacks that were nicer. He had only one to show me. That one didn't seem to have as many scratches, but the exterior was also very dusty so it was hard to tell. I ended up going to another dealer, driving a couple of other used cars that were shiny and clean, and buying one of those. You guys really need to step up your game -- if you don't want to sell used cars, then don't.

After looking at many cars online, my husband and I visited Matt Slapp Subaru to test drive the Outback. Our salesperson Harry was extremely helpful and patient as we looked at different cars. He was a no pressure salesman and was able to answer all of our questions. We wanted to compare the Outback with the ride of a Jeep so we left there and went down the street to a jeep dealership, and came back and purchased the Outback. I was very pleasantly surprised with the no pressure sales and the friendliness of the sales team. Great job! This is our first Subaru and so far we are very happy. Karen

My wife and I are not easy to please. For the past 4 months now we have been shopping around different makes and models to make sure we got exactly what we wanted, at the right price. We stopped into Matt Slapp a few times during our search to test drive a few select models. Finally after shopping honda, kia, hyundai etc etc we both came to the agreement that a Forester would be best suited for us. Our salesman was a pleasure to work with. We got a quote online through their online department, and it was hard to compete with the price presented. So now we are happily driving around in our new car. They made the process *once we finally made a decision* quick and easy. I would most definatly recommend any friend or family to stop in. Great work by all involved.

Just your typical car dealership poised like a vulture, ready to rip you off on your trade in. They know when they have something you want and will take full advantage of it. After making a deal on a Forester and while waiting to take delivery I expressed to my salesperson that I didnt feel as if I received a fair amount for my trade in. Leaving me to carry over $1300. I was informed that the only thing they could do for me was to cancel the deal. But I didn't want to cancel, I liked the vehicle very much. They didnt even offer a set of all weather floor mats after I expressed interest in them! I went through with the deal, picked up the car 6 days later driving off the lot with bad feelings.. Afterwards I was contacted by marketing and asked to write a review. I responded and told them of my feelings about my deal and told them I really didn't want to write a bad review. They responded quickly and asked me if there was anything they could do. I responded again and have yet to hear back anything. Its been over a week. So I guess they don't care about making me happy since the deal is done.

We did not purchase a vehicle here but Dorian Bell was very helpful, informative and patient. He never applied any pressure to make a sale but stated let me know how I can be of assistance to you. We had several questions and a request a couple weeks later and responded promptly. The dealership appeared to be very organized and I would not hesitate to return for a purchase. We loved the car we test drove, Outback, and we're able to give it a very thorough inspection. We just found a car that fit our needs better at our current age.

And for the 2nd time in a row, internet pricing FTW! No haggle. We walked in to the Subaru dealership, and Han took us to our car straight away. He knew loads about the vehicles we test drove, even though we ended up with our original price. And by having pre-priced it with the digital coordinator, Vincent, there was no haggling (IMO, the worst part of car buying). We just signed some papers, waited for the car to be cleaned, and we were out the door. Thanks so much, guys! Cheers!

I was shopping around for a new vehicle and narrowed it down to either a Honda CRV, or a Subaru Outback. Since I don't like the back windows on the new Hondas, I was gonna keep that visit second. I called Matt Slap Subaru and initially talked to one salesman who would take me on a test drive to help my decision. When I arrived, I saw that the salesman I talked to over the phone was busy with helping out financing other people and their vehicles, so I was initially turned off by the unavailability, but that was quickly rectified by talking with their salesman Chris Montelongo. He was just what I liked in this situation- No high pressure shenanegans. He was very well informed about the vehicle I wanted to check out(the Outback). I went for the test drive and my decision was already made. They had the vehicle and the specs I wanted, with the 6 cylinder engine which was available close by. They didn't have the first choice colors I wanted, but they had the third choice. The sale went very smoothly, and I bought the car with extra stuff I would have liked, but didn't deem necessary. In other words, We settled on a price, and the extra stuff wasn't added on or charged. I am very happy with my purchase, and would recommend both Chris and the dealership hands down.

When my wifes van was hit while sitting in a parking lot, we figured rather than waste time and money on repairs, that we would put that money towards a newer, more reliable vehicle. After doing a little research and taking into consideration all of the snowy icy weather we have been getting, my wife and I decided to give Subaru a try. This is our first Subaru and I can safely say, that I do not think it will be our last. Matt Slap Subaru is just around the block from us, and it was such a great experience from the start. I am soaked. Completely drenched. Would you like to know why? Because I bought a fully loaded 2014 Forester XT from Matt Slap and I just had to walk home in the pouring rain. I've had all the supposed "troubled" cars my entire life, Pontiac Firebird, Ford Mustang...yes, they were terrible in the snow/rain but they never left me hanging. We'd slide home, or take it slow, but we'd get there. I went to my car this evening and she wouldn't start because the battery was dead. It is a 2014, I bought this car because I wanted to get a car I could rely on in snow, and she's great - but how does the battery die in less than six months? What is happening here? What type of garbage is this dealership selling? The car came fully equipped with three substantial scratches, but I didn't want to make a big deal of it because I thought I was being particular, plus their answer was "it must have happened after it left the dealership". Right, I have a '97 Mustang with no scratches, but somehow I scratched this one up in a few days. Do not waste your time with place. I did my homework for nine months before I purchased, but I messed up. I messed up big. If you're on the fence, please just cross this place off your list, it'll be the best decision you ever make. If this e-mail leaves you with questions, please get in touch with me.

As a first time car buyer (from a formal dealership) I searched dealerships all over Delaware.. I found a Chevy Cruze online and called Matt Slap and spoke to Han who answered many questions I had. . I called several times with different questions, all were answered accordingly. Since I was on a tight schedule without a vehicle Han offered to set up transportation for my daughter and I to come into the dealership so I can inquire further and check out the options I had. I came in to check out the car in person and filled out the paperwork to see what he and the bank could do for my situation. Han explained the process to me and what the banks look for, once the inquiry came back he explained the problems that we were running into. He went ABOVE and BEYOND to help us get a car. I mean he tried EVERYTHING he could. Han was constantly supportive, understanding and helpful. I have never been treated so well by as sales person even after finding out It wouldn't be a quick easy sale. He didn't give up and blow us off. Once everything is in order I WILL be back to purchase a car from matt Slap and I will only deal with Han due to the fact he was so wonderful. I cant express how grateful I am to have been able to work with him and get his opinions and all of his help. Even though I couldn't walk out with the car I wanted at the time I wanted I walked out feeling hopeful and full of information on how to obtain what I needed to get a car next time I come by. Matt Slap is a great dealership with lots of friendly and eager to help staff. Lots of options for cars to fit the need of many. Han especially was great and for how he treated me and my situation alone will be the reason we return when thinks are straightened out . THANKS HAN AND MATT SLAP !!!!!! :) BEST EXPERIENCE AT A CAR DEALERSHIP YET CANT WAIT TO BE BACK

Ok, so I'm walking thru the dealership last Saturday morning as I await the oil change to be completed for my Forester. I pass the young man who was the salesman for my 2012 purchase and tell him I just love my car (mind you, he even called to wish me a happy birthday 2 mos. earlier). I overheard the customers with whom he was speaking say something like...oh, she must work here to which he said 'no, she doesn't'. But I am probably one of Subaru's most devoted fans. We are now a 2 Forester family. I bought my first Forester in the Fall of 1997 when the '98s were introduced. I traded in '02, '07, '10 and '12. I've purchased them in VA, NC and now the last 3 in DE. Matt Slap Subaru can sure sell a car...but more importantly, they know how to provide outstanding service. Anybody can sell a Subaru, because the vehicle is so awesome there is really nothing one needs to do but test drive it to know how great it is. It is the service one receives after the purchase that sets a dealership apart from the others, and this dealership rocks! Thanks for always welcoming us when we're in, and for letting us know that our continued patronage matters to you...that our satisfaction matters to you!

Let the games begin. I entered Matt Slapp Subaru with a pre-negotiated price from USAA. I thought, wow, this will be easy. I was wrong. I wanted to know my trade in value for my current car before going any further. After the appraisal the salesman and his boss could not give this information to me without knowing my current car payment and balance on the loan. Hmm, I wonder why? Possibly to make up the money they were lsing from the USAA price? I walked out and went to Wilmington Subaru the following week and received a fair trade in without having to disclose my current payments or balance. The same salesman from Matt Slap called or emailed me the next day asking if I was still interested in a new Forester. Apparently he did not recognize my name or remember our prior interactions.

Here's a funny story My son and I went to Matt Slap Subaru to look at the Graphite Gray Metallic on the Outback. We had a Hour and a half trip up and I was sore when we got there but Tim Evans our salesman was very nice and very understanding. We walked around while talking about what I wanted in a car. We finally decided to test drive the Outback. While on our drive we ran out of gas; funny but true!!!!!!!!!!!!! While we waited to be rescued Tim was apologizing for his error and very upset . I told him it happens and not to worry and joked with him he owes me big time.......I still felt Tim knew everything about the Outback and I did buy the Outback from him and he made sure I was very satisfied with my purchase If you go to Matt Slap make sure you see Tim and ask him if he learned to check for gas before a test drive... He's a good guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wrote to this dealer inquiring about a used 2012 Subaru Impreza. I have them all the information I had about my trade in (a one year old Forester with low milage), my budget and a thorough description of the car ad features I wanted. I live over an hour away so I was not interested in coming in unless we'd already discussed some numbers but they kept trying to get me to come without giving me any offers, estimates, or details. They kept refusing to give me any rough estimates for my trade in (two other dealers had no problem doing this, obviously stating that the numbers could change once they appraised my specific vehicle). In fact they even quoted me a higher price for the car I was interested in buying than what was listed on Cars.com. On the phone they were rude and somewhat condescending. Would not recommend dealing with their Internet sales person. I ended up getting a brand new 2013 Impreza Sport Limited at Rafferty Subaru. They easily gave me an estimate for my trade in (number was a little different after seeing my specific vehicle, but they didn't act like I was an idiot who couldn't understand the difference between a rough estimate and an actual offer), quoted me a fair price for the new car and worked with me to figure out how to get my payments where I wanted them to be before I even came in to the dealership. Matt Slap could really learn from Rafferty.

We made an appointment for the next day (Friday) and when we walked into their store, the pricing games began. Just like "magic", the "extra fees" began falling from the sky. They were so sleazy and unprofessional, we walked out and called Chris Mooney at Matt Slap Subaru. When I spoke with Chris the day before (Thursday), he advised me to be careful, because the price I'd been given by the other dealer seemed too good to be true. He was absolutely right. During our call on Friday morning, I told him if the price he'd quoted me was still good, we would come down and buy the car from him right now. He checked his paperwork and reviewed the numbers with me--they were exactly what he'd given me before, so we went to buy the car. Turns out that his price was a bit better than the other dealer's when you counted the "fees".We arrived at Matt Slap, and were treated very professionally. When he finished with a customer, Chris came over and introduced himself. We talked for a few minutes and he introduced us to Han Dervish, who would help us with the rest of the transaction. Both of these guys were knowledgable, respectful and friendly. Their showroom was really busy, but we never felt rushed--any questions were answered completely. It's difficult to describe the "feel" or "vibe" you get in a situation, but I definitely felt we were being treated with courtesy and respect at Matt Slap Subaru. Spending a lot of money on a new car can be nerve-wracking, but this was by far the most pleasant dealer experience we've ever had. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner, Eve Slap, briefly, and let her know how impressed we were by our experience. What a difference from how our morning started! This dealership seems to "get" that treating people with honesty and respect is a way to be successful in business. Leave the games to the other dealers--if you value dealing with people who are respectful, fair, and true to their word, Chris Mooney and Han Dervish did that, and then some. Thanks, guys.

There's not much I can say that is nice about this place. I did buy my Subaru from them, and I love my car, but I am not happy with my experiences with Matt Slap. Like stated before, they try their hardest to get you to pay the highest possible price. You must do your research and understand what the car you want is really worth and NOT settle for what they tell you its worth! I also, had a difficult time trading in my old Subaru. Matt Slap would not give me what it was worth. I had to do a lot of negotiating before they finally honored my price. Recently, I took my car to get serviced. I specifically stated what services I wanted them to preform and because my mileage was near a major service point, they conveniently added a service package to my bill. I was not aware of this added service until my car was done and the bill was presented. When I had my spouse call about the bill, they were told that I was aware of the cost of the service because they told me the price, 3 times. I WAS NEVER TOLD! In the beginning, told them what I wanted them to preform and because I had been there before and had the same services done, assumed my price would be around the same figure. BOY was I wrong! Needless, to say I called them back because they called me a liar to my spouse! Who in sales/customer service does this? Oh yea, Matt Slap. They reimbursed me for some of the services they performed, and also gave me some free services (Yeah, like Ill EVER go back there!) All I can say is BEWARE. Matt Slap is not the only Subaru dealer in Delaware so shop around!!

MY purchase went badly because they didn't return my emails and when i finally negotiated a dela in person, they did not honor it when it was time to sign the papers. they said it was a mistake and i would have to pay more. i think this is an intentional trick they use to cheat buyers. service is no better, i made an apointment just to have a recall taken care of and after missing work to get it done was told that they would have to order the parts and i would have to come back to have it done. there was no apology and i was treated like i was unreasonable for expecting them to have the parts when the recall was the only reason i brought the car in. if there was another subaru dealer any place close, i would never return here.

My sale person Hon kept changing the price of my car and my trade in. When he completed my paper work the numbers were again different than what we agreed upon.Days later I was left a message by him that a mistake had been made on my trade in and that because of his mistake I had to pay a additional $500 dollars to get my new tags. When I called him back he was rude and hung up the phone on me. I called his boss and he has offered my a FREE oil change because of the $500 mistake. Thanks for nothing.I feel that I should not have to be burdened with the ENTIRE cost of Hon's mistake.

I wanted to express my surprise and delight at the excellent service I received at Matt Slap's Subaru this week. I found "my" car online on your web site.I called Saturday late afternoon and confirmed with Tucker that it was still available. I said I'm on my way. I drove 45 min. from Wayne PA to Wilmington DE.Chuck Albright greeted me upon arrival. I told him the one car I was interested in, a 2008 Forester. He pulled it up. I sat in it and asked for the cars history. He printed it out and reviewed it with me. I told him my requirements to make the sale. He met them. I bought the car. It needed the upholstery steam cleaned so he arranged for it to be done Monday morning. Chuck was not there when I arrived Monday but multiple people were so helpful, from the used car manager, to the front desk woman in the service area. Chuck then came in from home on his morning off to make sure everything was OK and to get me the mats he promised to replace. When I pointed out a broken driver door handle, they ordered a new one for installation this Friday.I will tell everyone I know to check with them when buying their next car.Congratulations to their team. They are exceptionally hard workers.Sincerely,Karen Harlin

I just bought a new Forester from Matt Slap a couple of weeks ago. I was very pleased with the dealership. The sales staff was very knowledgeable and helped to make me a more informed buyer. They were also patient and respected when I needed time to think it over.

Matt Slap Subaru was a GREAT place to purchase my new Subaru. I contacted several dealerships for pricing. Matt Slap quickly responded and quoted a great price. Dorian was an excellent salesman and walked me through my purchase with professionalism and friendliness. The management staff, Larry and Chris, were quick to appraise my trade and gave me a fair value. I am very pleased with the final price and overall had a great experience!

Our salesperson lied to us on multiple occasions. At least one time it was about a very serious issue (retrieval of trade in's license plates) that cost us a lot of time and money. Other times it was about pricing, options, and less vital but still important issues that you would not expect a salesperson to lie about. This type of treatment is absolutely unacceptable.
