From salesperson, Mark who was knowledgeable and patient to the Sales Manager, Curt who was sincerely nice and appreciative, to Jordan who did a SUPERB job making my new car shine I could not have had a more pleasant buying experience. Since November I have been in the market for a new safe vehicle for the family, of course safe being the key word. I don't think you could get a more safe and amazing vehicle than the new 2016 Volvo XC90 and I don't honestly think you can get a better car buying experience than buying your car from this dealer. I went to many, many dealers since November, and I have never seen a group of people more passionate and knowledgable about their product which is inclusive of all the safety features, as well as all the other "fun" stuff you can get in this vehicle. If your in the market for a new car, I would come to Portland Volvo. Mark Straffin was amaaaaazing through this process, he was very patient and helpful. He always kept me in the loop of what the newest cars they were getting in, or that had come off the truck that might meet our family's needs. He went above and beyond with making sure our family got exactly what they needed and more. Even responded to my text on his day off. CoDy also helped with this process and hands down the best pictures of all the cars on the lot, of any dealership I have ever seen. He is also so passionate about what he does and helpful with any question. If he doesn't know the answer, he will be sure to get the answer right away. So I'll end with, have you ever left a car dealership, and hugged your car salesperson, well I just did, and that to me is a home run! Keep up the great work Portland Volvo, you're definitely doing something right.

This dealership rocks. My daughter had been servicing her Volvo there for the past few year. The inevitable happened with her old car and she suddenly found herself in need of a new one. While we we went off brand, the service department assured us that they service all makes and models. A totally seamless experience from start to finish.

True story. My son comes home from UMaine for winter break and needs minor repair work done on his Saab 9-3. We take it to a local mechanic in Windham and drop it off on a Tuesday night. I get a call Thursday that the mechanic can't get the car started. He states he thinks he can get the key fixed (by taking it apart) and/or get a couple of other fobs that can be programmed for the Saab. Bottom line, 2 weeks later and he has not been able to get any key to work.(????)It's time to take it to a Saab dealership; Portland Volvo. The technicians there let Bryan Woodworth in the Service Department know that of the 2 keys that were dropped off with the Saab, neither one belonged to the car and the key (and ignition box) will need to be replaced. This is not a cheap option and I am furious with 1st mechanic's ineptness/delays.Dave Cleveland (Service Manager at Portland Volvo), called me back and was empathetic to my situation. Even though we are a first time customer, Dave offered a deal on the new keys and labor already rendered, and handled a recall item on the Saab within 48 hours.Great Customer service by Bryan Woodworth and Dave Cleveland at Portland Volvo! I would highly recommend their services in the future, whether you are a long time customer or a first timer like us! Thank you gentlemen!

Q Recently, my 1996 ,Volvo 850 needed service, and I was not only devastated, but also considering buying another car, not necessarily a Volvo. I have been a Vovlo customer since 1985 and have been pleased with the cars and the service department. I than helped me mepake the right decision to repair my 850. My wife and I just purchased a beautiful used Acura MDX. We worked with Ralph D'Angelo, who was very prompt at returning phone calls and providing information. He was very friendly and genuinely seemed excited about his job. I was able to test drive the vehicle and bring it home for the night, which we found very helpful. We were given top dollar for our trade, and Ralph was able to work out a very reasonable deal. The whole process of testing the car and driving home with it happened within 24 hours.The whole experience was very easy and fast, everyone at the dealership was very nice and excited for us. Every trip to Portland Volvo is an enjoyable one including my most recent one buying a new XC90 from our salesmen Colin Mack. After driving German cars for years, we were ready for what the Scandinavian countries had to offer. There are a lot of new features on the new XC90 that Colin was more than willing to show and explain to us. We set up our first service appointment with the service department and they were very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. 10/10 would recommend. Free popcorn too, can't beat that!

I stopped into Portland Volvo a few weeks ago on a Friday night at 5PM just to see what the used inventory was. I was immediately greeted by the very pleasant receptionist who remembered me. I had dealt with Micheal Pierter and the great service folks for several years. I had switched car brands a few years ago and decided to come back and buy another used Volvo if I could find what I wanted. Ralph helped me immediately, answered my questions, let me take the pre owned car for a ride and was happy to stay a bit later on a Friday night. I called Ralph first thing Saturday morning to tell him I'd take the used car that we had looked at the night before and that I'd be there around noon to finish up. I came back and Ralph and the gang had me out of there in 60 minutes flat! Fine and honest people, very thorough, great service department and once again, they did what they said they would do. Many of the service staff have been there 10 years are more and are knowledgable about different make/models and are able to provide input over the phone as to wha the particular issue with a vehicle may be, what diagnostics need to be done, or to answer a simple question on a new car. For instance, where's the battery on this S60 model year 2013 versus 2005.Bryan Woodworth has been extremely helpful over a period of many years at the dealership.Sales staff, Mickael Pieter is a real pls to the sales fleet. Like most, I am apprehensive and a little anxious when it comes to vehicle shopping, as many salesmen can be pushy to just try and close a deal on whatever might get them a good commission. I am happy to say I was elated when I did not run into such an individual, but instead met Ralph D'Angelo. I informed Ralph I was not ready to buy and I was just shopping around at the moment. I know a lot of sales people would immediately drop a customer such as myself, as I wouldn't provide instant sales.To my delight, Ralph did not do that. He has to be one of the nicest, most conversational people I've ever met! He asked me questions about what I was looking for for features my desired purpose (family vehicle / new / pre-owned / etc), and if I was looking for a ballpark monthly payment as he could direct me to any deals that met my preferences that was within my budget. I liked that he allowed me to steer the conversation with my preferences and budget, instead of trying to push me into what he wanted to sell. We ended up chatting a bit longer and found out we're both big fans of the same NFL team. Ralph is one of the nicest people I've ever met and when I'm ready to purchase a vehicle, I will definitely be coming to see him!

I bought a used Honda from Ralph D'Angelo. It was my first experience with Portland Volvo. I knew the car I wanted, and they had it. Obviously I care about getting the car I want, but it also matters very much to me how a business treats its customers. I had already been low-balled for my trade-in by another dealer, who insisted that no one would give me even close to what it was worth. Ralph was a perfect gentleman about the process, and Portland Volvo offered me retail value for the trade-in, which I knew full well it was worth. This not only saved me the hassle of selling it myself, but it went a long way toward my confidence in the business. I also want to compliment CoDy Seguin, Curt Hodges and Jason Shaw, all personable and consummate professionals. Portland Volvo manages to be a solid business in a traditional field without the impersonal corporate sheen that has marred so many of my past car-buying experiences. It was a relief to find them.

I called Portland Volvo at 9:45 on a Thursday morning on break at work. Joel answered the phone and was very curtious. I explained that I had probrlems replacing a headlamp and asked if I could bring the car by after work. He said they were really booked that day but if it was just a headlight, they would be able to take care of it, even though I would not arrive until 4:20. The service area is only open until 5:00! They were awesome when I arrived, and took the car right in. 10 mintues later, another service rep came out and explained I had a faulty wire harness to the headlight and it could cause a fire if not replaced. He also said the mechanic working on it would stay later and finish the job if I decided to fix it! How cool s that!! These guys were professional all the way! They fixed the car perfectly and explained everything they did and included a car wash coupon to boot!! I highly recommend this dealership!! Everyone is friendly and helpful! Check them out, you won't be sorry!!!

We have been looking for a used XC60 in the Bangor area and they had none. After stopping by Portland Volvo on a trip, we decided to go back and buy. We had a wonderful experience. Christiana came out and greeted us and asked us all the right questions to get us started. She was helpful, funny and very professional. Curt, the General Sales Manager also greeted us, helped Christiana by doing the research on our trade-in. We took two test drives of two different XC60's and then made our decision. After driving my Volvo V70 T5 for 18 years and 250,000 miles, I was wooed by the 2015 V60 I drove as a loaner, even though it was not a manual transmission. Not a bit of pressure from the salesman. All he had to do was let me drive it. He made the process so easy. I was pre-approved for financing, so that process did not take long at all! The salesman's tutorial of the car was thorough and easy to understand. I really feel that I can call him any time if I have any questions. Could not have been a better experience!

I started shopping for a new car about a month ago and found Portland Volvo thru the website. I found the information there to be useful and interesting. I contacted the dealership and talked with Christina Smith. Christina has limitless energy and listened carefully to the things that I wanted and my bottom line on the price. Then she went to work to find a match for my needs, we spoke several times on the phone but there was never any hard sell or pressure to buy. I also kept checking the website as they posted new cars and information. In a few weeks we found the car for me! During the process of buying "the perfect car" we had fun, lots of information and options were offered, but always in a kind, helpful manner, lots of humor and never the hard sell. Jason, the business manager walked us thru all the details, kept the entire transaction transparent and was able to find us the maximum incentives offered by the Volvo brand. When all was said and done we drove off in an even better car than we thought we could afford and at a lower price! The check engine light appeared on my son's 1997 Volvo 850. He was needing to take it on a trip to Philadelphia the next day. In order to assure his and his family's safety, we took it to the dealership to assess the problem. Bryan Woodworth assisted us and a diagnostic test was completed. Last Friday I had to bring in my XC70 because it wasn't starting properly. On this unexpected visit, I arrive to 3 smiling and welcoming faces, hard to choose, but I went to Bryan because he's been there for nearly as long as I have been a customer. Not only do they take in my car. On a mome to notice, but after realizing the customer transport is busy, they immediately get me a loaner! After all of this happening on my way to work, I am just 10 minutes late. Service does not get better than that.Within an hour Bryan called and let me know what was wrong, most of which was covered under warranty on my 2010 model, again, amazing. They called again in the early afternoon as soon as it was ready and I picked up my perfectly running cat on my way home.When they say Volvo for life, Portland Volvo exemplifies why that is! The service staff and particularly my Volvo "primary care" doctor; Mr. Woodworth are very efficient and helpful when making appointments or diagnosing problems and making positive suggestions to enhance the Volvo ownership experience. Bryan Woodworth has been my personal choice of service advisor for fifteen years and makes getting my Volvos serviced a real pleasure. After 25+ years in purchasing vehicles, this was by far the best experience. Right from the beginning, Yelena was friendly, fun and informative. There was not the "typical" car sales pitch about how much do we want to spend a month versus the actual price of the car. It was a very refreshing experience. They do there best to provide the best service possible. When the transmission in my car went, it was time to find my dream truck. Although portland Volvo did not have one on their lot, they found the perfect truck for me! I could not have been happier with the result. They found a truck that had everything I wanted, and replaced the grey cloth seats, and put leather. Everyone at Portland Volvo is a fantastic crew! It is so much easier buying a car when the dealership is easy to work with. After expressing my interest in a 2010 Mini Cooper S I found online, I was promptly contacted by a very friendly guy named Cody who sent me a video on the car. I came in for a test drive and loved it! The salesperson I dealt with upon my arrival was Yelena. She was extremely friendly, had a great sense of humor, and was very knowledgeable about the whole process. I did not feel pressured throughout the entire experience. Yelena went out of her way to help us and I have nothing but good things to say about her. After taking the car home, we discovered that the spare key fob didn't work. I contacted Yelena about this, and she went above and beyond getting us a new key, which was awesome, because it would have been expensive to replace. She responded promptly to all of my inquiries through email and phone calls. She also followed up to make sure we were doing okay. It is so nice to know that there is still this caliber of customer service in the car sales world, we really want to thank her! We also had a very easy experience with Jason taking care of all of the financial end, which can often be a stressful process. Jason's sense of humor and easygoing nature made us feel very comfortable. Thanks to everyone at Portland Volvo, we would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to buy a new or used car!

I must say that it usually is with mixed emotions and some consternation when I enter a dealership. I love to look , learn and drive new cars and dread the actual process of buying one. That was what I expected at Portland but I was pleasantly surprised. I had spoken to Cody about the car I was interested in and he said he would have the car ready when I arrived from about 2 hours away. He met me and introduced me to Yelena my sales person. She was lovely, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient and explained all aspects of the car dealer online policies and walked me through the process with a little input from the others I have mentioned. I had come to look at a car and left driving it home with what was a very fair price, fair trade and a real creampuff car. I hardly expected that to happen. Their follow -up in sending required paperwork and a few items I inadvertently left in the car was right on with items being sent out next day mail as promised. I would not hesitate to recommend Portland Volvo in the future and in fact I already have when a friend remarked about my new car. If your looking for a new Volvo or good used car give them a try. I have a 2005 Volvo S60 and have been servicing my vehicle at Portland Volvo for the past year and a half. I find the service to be fine and solid. I also enjoy the convenience of the dealership. They offer shuttle rides or even a loaner car without hesitation. Whenever I bring my car in to have something looked at they diagnose and repair the same day without hesitation which I find to be very convenient. That being said, my thought is when going to a dealer and paying the premium labor $ per hour I would receive EXCEPTIONAL service, but I have noticed that they do what is asked and don't look go above and beyond. Dont' get me wrong when they do work on my vehicle it is done and fixed. But I was extremely disappointed when I went in to pick up my car the other day after a $650 repair and they explained my driver side window was off the track and they could turn off the switch for very little money or fix it, which would have cost nearly $700. I said just turn it off so I can't use the window anymore. I then asked the service clerk is this an inspectable item and he said yes when it is due for an inspection you will need it fixed. I guess he didn't take the time to look at my inspection sticker and notice that my inspection is due next month. I also was a little ticked off when my window washer fluid was low and they didn't fill it up. I guess the $650 I paid wasn't enough...I thought they had an investment in me being a young driver and a relatively new Volvo owner that they would want to try to delight me and provide exceptional service. That's not the case, since the cost is way too high here for the value I think I will explore other garages for my next service visit. I also have decided that I will NEVER buy another Volvo after the 4 or 5 $500 to $1500 repairs to keep this car going. It has been a headache and I would recommend to not buy a Volvo.

Needing a new car, onto the Portland Volvo web site we went. I always had a VW, but maybe it was time for a change?? My son's friend has a Volvo as does a few friends of mine. After seeing so many to choose from, we decided to take the trip from Warren and drive one. We did have one in mind when got there. Yelena's friendly approach and quick answers to our questions made it easy to test drive one(she went with us and was so helpful in navigating a nice route). We had concerns about that car (she quickly had the info we wanted/needed to know about that car)but then saw another one that she again quickly got info on and we drove that one (without her but using her route) and I knew that was the one. Yelena had paperwork done up on both cars and from that we decided on the 2nd one. We had to wait for the final credit work to be done because of others also buying cars, but Yelena was always checking on us and processing what she could when it came to helping in paperwork. All went smoothly and the car was ready for us to take home, Yelena helping the whole time with my son and his friends (who came to check out the car). Overall a very good experience!

I had been looking for the Electric Blue with blue top Saab convertible for some time. I saw the car on Auto Trader and went to the Portland Volvo web site. Had an online chat with CoDy Sequin, very easy to work with. After the online chat I called CoDy and we talked price, told they were a true price store. The price was fair so I gave him a credit card to hold the car. The next day I received on overnight pack from Jason Shaw, business manager, with all of the needed paper work with clear instructions on all I needed to do. Sent it back with the included overnight pack. In a few days I received it back with all I needed to collect the car. They held the car for a month so my wife and I could fly back from the other Portland, Portland Oregon. We were picked up at the airport and met by Ralph D'Angleo with everything ready to go, car was spotless, full of fuel. We left the next day for our cross country road trip. It seems that Portland Volvo and CoDy are geared up toward internet sales. Everything went off like clockwork. My son also picked up a Saab CV on the east coast from another dealer. His internet experience was not good. If I were closer to Portland Volvo I would be taking our blue Saab as well as our Saab Sportcombi to them for service and repair. Try them you will like them.

We have owned 14 Volvos. For the past seventeen years, Portland Volvo as been taking care of all of our service needs. Brain Woodworth has also made certain we are properly taken care of both in terms of work on the car as well as providing us with a loaner car while ours is being serviced. The past week we dropped off our 2011 XC 70 for service. The courtesy van then took us to the airport so we could catch a plane. Upon our return, the courtesy van picked us up and our own car was waiting for us in a convenient location for us to load our luggage. All I paid for was tire rotation. This is not something new for Portland Volvo. We count on Portland Volvo for excellent service mechanics, customer relations people, sales manager and sales persons. We always recommend Portland Volvo including to those driving competing bands of cars.

I called last minute to try and get an AWD alignment for my 2004 Volvo S60 R prior to leaving on a long trip and they were great. I spoke with Joel in Service and he went out of his way to fit me in the same day. I had to call him back to see if there was anyway he could fit me in even sooner since my plans changed and he was able to move my last minute appointment up earlier. The alignment took about an hour including their test drive and I must say after leaving the dealership, my car has never driven better. I always get alignments at local shops. This is my first time at Portland Volvo for an alignment. It was a bit more expensive then what I usually pay but for the service and the way the car tracks down the road definitely worth it. Today we went to volvo to discuss our failed transmission. We were told that although volvo knew it was faultythey simply wished to put the problem behind them...behind them but not behind us. This was communicated to us by Matt the manager who could not be less caring or sincere.Details - 6 years ago we purchased a volvo for $42,000 and today after driving it for less than 90k miles wewere offered $1,500 for a well maintained volvo SUV. They all agreed; manager, sales manager and Mr Davenportthe sale associate that the transmission had a history of per-mature failure but they want to put the problem behind them, notbehind us behind them. $42,000 - $1,500 = $40,500 divided by 6 years equals almost $7,000 a year for a used car with a giant"we don't care about you" on the way out.

We bought our New Volvo just last year and haven't had any problems with it. We brought it in for its 15,000 mile service a little early and in the process were informed we would need new tires soon as they just inched past inspection. We asked for quotes and were given a reasonable range of prices and honest answers on the differences. We set up an appointment to get the tires put on. When we came down to have the tires mounted they noticed an up date in the BLIS system and called and asked us if we wanted that taken care of. My husband was so impressed with the service and information he asked for a quote on winter tires for our much loved SAAB wagon. They prepared the quote with the same professionalism that we received for our new car. We strongly recommend Portland Volvo if you have a SAAB or a Volvo, they are professional, informative and most obviously service oriented..

We have two Volvos and will always take them to Portland Volvo for service. The first one, the 2008 XC70, was purchased from a Subaru dealer who will remain nameless. They had no clues about Volvos, and when the check engine light came on after a few months, we took it to Portland Volvo where they discovered that mice had made a nest in the battery housing and eaten the wiring harness. An easy fix, but such a good experience that we've never gone elsewhere. Their care has kept this car immaculate, and we bring it Scarborough whenever necessary. Our second car, a 2004 S90, was purchased used from Portland Volvo, and again, the experience, even including a trade-in, was so satisfactory that we've never looked back. We had test driven a Volvo at another dealer, and while we liked it, we realized that there was something subtly wrong with that one. Going to Portland Volvo was an obvious answer, and the car they had was basically the same model, but in much better shape. The purchasing process was so easy, down to a minor paint repair that was hardly even needed, that we'd absolutely recommend it to anyone. We live 45 miles from Portland Volvo, but as non-skilled car consumers, we consider it well worth the drive to get the car to a service department that we know to be reliable. The loaners that are always available make it even an better deal, but the waiting area and the facilities for customers are excellent as well.

She had patience with my wife and I explaining how everything works when you step foot into the dealership. Our family had been shopping for a new vehicle for sometime. We were overwhelmed with tremendous professionalism at a number of Maine dealerships. However, we found Portland Volvo's staff willing to go that extra mile for us. Understanding we have busy professional lives and two young children, Ralph D'Angelo drove the vehicle 50 miles to our home on a weekend. We test drove the vehicle and asked him myriad questions. I am from Massachusetts and summer in Maine. I looked for vehicles in the Massachusetts area at a very reputable dealership (where I bought before). This time I was quite unsatisfied with the Massachusetts dealership. As a women they played the going back and forth to the sales manager game. I called Ralph and saw the vehicle I was interested in. Told him the price I wanted and didn't want to play the game. He listened to what I was interested in. I saw the vehicle I was interested on the site. They gave me the price and options I was looking for and site unseen I bought the car. It was an S/80 which I am extrememly pleased with. We went to Portland Volvo on a whim. We had seen a used Volvo XC 90 with extremely low mileage and very competitive price on their website. We decided to take the vehicle for a test drive. Upon return we decided we really loved the car and wanted to consider purchasing it. With all car sales, there is a bit of negotiating back and forth ie trade in value, sale price of car. Ultimately we felt we reached a fair price for the vehicle we wanted. The salesperson, Joe Costa was very straight forward and professional. Once we agreed to move forward on the purchase, the process went very quickly and smoothly. Jason Shaw was instrumental in securing an unbelievable interest rate which no local bank or credit union could come close to or match. This is the second purchase for our family from Portland Volvo in seven years. We will not shop for Volvo's anywhere else. In fact, we have another Volvo dealer closer to our home but choose to travel further to work with Portland Volvo. I will never use this Dealership again Owner/Manager Blames Customer and Not his own staff. Way to go Mr Dietz. Very Professional!!!! 3 Months ago told Service to go through My mothers 97 Volvo with a "fine tooth Comb"Because of the Age I was either going to fix the Car or Buy a new one for her. They comeback with " it needs 2700.00 worth of work, I felt it was high but acceptable. Paid the bill. Less than 2 months later and 100 miles put on the car I am informed that it needs another 1900.00 plus dollars worth of work To get it inspected. I would never Have put 4600.00 into this car. I feel that they were negligent. When I contacted the Manager John Deitz some how he got angry at me and ended up hanging up the phone on me. Very Professional.

Right from the start Ralph was a pleasure to work with. When we arrived for our appointment, he had the two cars we were interested in ready to go for a test drive and off we went. It took me a while to choose between the two because they really were almost identical and I took both of them out twice for test drives. Ralph was patient and understanding and gave us plenty of time to decide, all the while answering all questions we had. Once we'd decided on the car we really wanted, Ralph zipped us through all the financial formalities (with the amazing help of Jason in finance) and we drove off into the sunset with our new Volvo C70 convertible. We visited one dealership and had a small part of negotiating with someone who fit the previous sentence to a tee. Disgusted, we left. Reluctantly we resumed our search with the same uneasy feeling. One Sunday we drove to Portland Volvo and saw a couple of vehicles that we were interested in. I drove there again on Monday after work with the thought of possibly taking a test drive. It depended though, I thought, with the pressure related comfort level I felt towards the sales person. I braced myself as I saw a gentleman approach and smile; he introduced himself as Joe Costa and I immediately felt very comfortable. We then test drove two vehicles and I made the purchase the following night. All of our interactions with Joe were extremely comfortable, easy and totally free of any pressure, persistence or nagging questions of what I wanted to spend per month, etc. His sales approach and personality were immediately trustworthy. Joe is a fine gentleman and salesman who totally earned our respect. Thank you ever so much Joe - your business card is right in our wallets to recommend you to hopefully so many others! I called the dealership passing through on my way home to Boston. There was a used car I was interested in test driving. When I called to make sure the car was still in stock, Halie was great and told me she was looking at the car right outside. I had gone to another dealer before and was told the vehicle was there, which turned out to be incorrect and a waste of my time. However.... it turned out the Volvo was an automatic and the Website was wrong in that it stated the car as being a standard! Halie quickly set up a test drive on a new C30 standard. Halie has since followed up with me. I have bought many new automobiles, and had had my share of good and bad experiences. Halie was very knowledgeable, accommodating, and she is definitely a cut above. Should I decide to purchase new, I will go back and work with her.

My family and I recently moved to the area, I scheduled an appointment with the service department to replace a blown headlight for my S60. Thought I would kill some time and walk the lot. I had no intention to buy, just checking the new models out for fun. For about a year or so my husband and I would casually look at vehicles that we would love to have ,never actually even stopping by car lots, just if we passed one or noticed it parked somewhere we would comment to each other. ......I had found the perfect vehicle, and at a great price! I walked back inside and asked the lovely receptionist if I could test drive it. She then introduced me to Joe Costa to further assist me. Ralph was great to work with! I immediately felt at ease, never pressured or pushed into a decision. He gave me the information I needed regarding the cars on the lot that I was interested in and then let me take my time to look around. I went to the dealership to just look around and ended up falling in love with a Volvo S60. Ralph guided me through the process, answering every question I had. I felt like I was his most important customer, he really makes you feel like your business matters! He followed up with an email after I met him and returned any voicemail I left him promptly. Leased an '09 S80 3 years ago. Wanted to trade in on new XC60. Promised price/trade in info within a day - a week later I had to call back because hadn't heard anything. Even then, I was given inaccurate info about bank buyout options, and then later when I spoke with the sales manager, I was provided lease info on new S80, not XC60 as requested. Is the economy that good that you can blow off good customers who have previously purchased $43K vehicles from you?? Reputaion and word of mouth in this community are currency. Good luck!

How I got my new (but gently used) Saab convertible....I had just made a telephone request in the beginning of the summer to Joe Costa about availability of a convertible-he didn't have one then. Two months later Joe called me- he had our dream car. Because he called so promptly my husband and I also acted quickly and we were able to buy it within the first day. Joe is a pleasure to deal with-so professional and non "pushy". When we walked into the dealership (after coming from a state away (NH)we were so impressed- the most polished cars displayed so well. Ralph was great to work with. He was very patient with me as I was back several times to test drive different models. I finally fell in love with a 2007 XC. The transaction was quick and painless. Ralph got me to a payment I was comfortable with and a trade-in price that was fair. Very good experience buying a new car. My last experience 6 years ago I remember being haggled down for hours to get what what I wanted for price. Halie spoke with us and then after speaking with the manager one time only he came over and spoke with us no hassles or "twilight zone like" time delays. Everyone is genuinely friendly and you could tell they liked being there. At other places while shopping around I could feel and observe the tenseness. This place is the right choice.

I was a tad disappointed in the trade in value assessed to the Honda Accord, but realize it has some age. The price on the Volvo was very fair as well as the trade in value on the Saab. Concerning Halie: she was excellent. Her manner is friendly and professional. She is clearly "the new kid on the block"; and when she did not know the answer to a question she deferred to someone who could provide the correct answer. The entire staff willing helped with the sale. That gave my husband and me confidence that we were in good hands. The vehicle itself is marvelous. I have begun to learn the Navigator; parallel parked it and have put it in the garage. Having said that (an expression I feel is overused these days) it is much bigger than I realized. A new car is a big purchase in one's life. It can be a difficult process weeding through all the choices, and Cary was terrific, patient, and responsive. He was top notch. I also went with Saab for this new car, because I love your service department. So thank you very much, both Sales and Service. Love the new 9-3X. Wish I could have had a chance to choose between the 9-5 X wagon and the 9-3X wagon. The 9-5 X wagon isn't due out until the Fall. I couldn't wait. But I am happy with the 9-3X wagon that I got last week. Cary did a good job helping me find a car that met my criteria. AWD was very important to me for this car, and he helped me stay on track with that. My wish is that Saab would develop a greener technology car, or wagon in my case, and lead the way for more cars and car companies to use cleaner energy, and/or be more fuel efficient. My next car, and I hope it is a Saab, will definitely have to be better on fuel or be a greener technology car. It is time for everyone to build cars that we can love, like the Saab, and not feel so guilty about owning and driving.Saab has the ability to do that, and it would be so great to be able to buy and drive an Saab with all its amazing engineering and details, and have it be a greener car than they are today. Went looking for a used SAAB trading in my Ford Freestyle as 2 of my three kids have licenses and never ride with me anymore, so wanted to get that Red Sportscar I always wanted, the last 20 years have been in vans and suv's. My goal was to go a year newer, less miles and lower my payment, Ralph pushed on my behalf and made it happen! My payment is $100 lower, the car is a year newer and 22,000 less miles! He is very laid back, friendly and knows the cars inside and out. He took the time to introduce me to pretty much the whole staff as I was now part of the Portland SAAB "family". Don't hesitate to look for your next new or used car there, I thought it was out of my price range, but they made it happen, and the Red 9-3 is in my driveway!! Thanks to the whole team!!

I am very pleased with the excellent customer service received on Saturday, and look forward with working with your Service Department in the future, understanding some of the same technicians are in Scarborough, ME that was at the Falmouth, ME location before moving the Saab dealership to Scarborough.

As a first time Volvo buyer, but certainly NOT a first time car buyer, I am totally impressed with PV. In an unfair, money-run business, being female means often being taken advantage of by car dealers. My 2011 Volvo XC90 is my 28th vehicle, and I am planning to drive this Volvo until I need another Volvo, which I will purchase from PV. My first contact was with Peter Boroyan via telephone. I called with questions about differing options on four of the XC90's they had online. Peter was very knowledgeable, took the time to personally go check out the cars, and called me back ASAP.I had three major concerns about buying a new Volvo. I have had five back surgeries, and comfort is extremely important. I also have three dogs, that I consider my children, and in my previous 2010 Toyota Forerunner, the rear window rolled down so they could have a sufficient amount of air in any weather. Peter assured me that although the XC90 did not have a rolling down rear window, it did have rear air conditioning, so that the dogs would be very comfortable. Thirdly, I had never purchased a Volvo before, so I did my homework. I was very concerned about being "taken". I researched the trade in value for my Toyota and was prepared for my experience. After a test drive, I met with both the Sales Manager and the Used Car manager, who were both straight forward and honest, and not two hours later, purchased my new 2011 Volvo XC90.

Our experience with this dealership has been all-round superb. Purchasing our Volvo was a pleasant and reasonable process; the service has literally saved our lives. My wife was waiting for a heart transplant, when we received "the call" from Mass General Hospital that a match had been found for her. That began my frantic weekly commute between Boston, where my wife transitioned from the hospital to an apartment behind the hospital, and our home in Maine, for the three months of her transplantation and adjustment. On my first commute back home to Maine to be sure everything was ok with our house, warning signals appeared uncharacteristically in our faithful Volvo. The service guys checked me in immediately and turned our car around so fast that no time was lost. They sent me on my way back to Boston saying, "We'll worry about your car, Jack. Now you go worry about your wife." My wife is thriving four years later, and we have continued to receive the same consistently intelligent, loving care from Scarborough Volvo.

had a steering issue during a blizzard. Portland Volvo told me to bring my car right in and although they were closing at noon they would be willing to check it out. They were all smiles when I arrived, checked it out, put in some fluid and oiled something and gave it back to me within ten minutes. IT was fixed and there was no charge! My daughter had an old Volvo and used their services several times. She spoke highly of them. We also bought a Volvo there a few years ago and were very pleased with all aspects of their service.I just drove the car 200 miles and the steering is fine!!

I've been coming to Portland Volvo for 20 years. I recently brought in my S80 at 167,000 miles and they advised me that putting money it is would be throwing money out the window as it might need a new transmission. So I left with a great deal on a used SAAB. I've never had a bad experienced at Portland Volvo / SAAB. Once my 850 was making a loud noise from the exhaust and a national muffler company told me I needed a whole new system. Took it to Portland Volvo and it needed a .39 clamp. that's what you get!

Kimberly was extremely knowledgeable about the used vehicle I was interested in. She did not just hand me the keys, she took the time to ride with me and explain features about the vehicle. Just bought a new car from Portland Volvo (Volvo S60) and they were absolutely phenomenal! We comparison shopped at a local Audi dealership (only had 1 model of the type of car we were considering though website listed at least 5 in stock..) and a local Infiniti dealership (good selection but played games w/ trade in value -- see below). Portland Volvo had the exact model I wanted in stock and they also had other options available in case I wanted a different color or if I wanted to upgrade (or downgrade for that matter). The PV website has a link to AutoTrader.com and that was very useful; my '05 Pacifica came in between $8600 and $8900 for a trade in value and PV offered me $8734 after driving it and having the service dept. take a look at it -- we were pleasantly surprised that there were no games involved (Infiniti offered $7000 then when we objected they "made some calls" and came in w/ $8000 -- grrr). Before visiting I had spoken w/ Heath Lovley who was very helpful. When we arrived Heath had another customer he was working with so Cary Smart helped us and he was very helpful as well. Great knowledge of the vehicle and encouraged me to really drive the car (residential, highway, corners, etc.) The car is very sophisticated in terms of technology so Cary went through the whole car w/ me and really helped ALOT! James was extremely helpful w/ all of the paperwork and financing options. They had made a mistake on the price and our payments should have gone up but they honored their original quote on payments, again, very refreshing. I would really recommend this dealership -- no haggling on prices or trade-ins which, for me, is the worst part of buying a car. And I should also mention that we have a 6 year old who was very patient the whole afternoon thanks to Barkley, the dealership mascot (Golden Retriever) -- he was a lifesaver! Thanks PV!

Overall, my experience at Portland Volvo was fantastic and exceeded expectations; I highly recommend the dealership for sales and service. I was looking for a hard-to-find used V50 T5 with manual transmission early in the summer, when seemingly none could be found locally or nationally. Cary Smart was my salesperson, and promised to keep me on "the list" should one come in locally. To my (and his) amazement, a manual V50 T5 had arrived in local trade, so he phoned me and advised that with a refundable deposit I could have first right of refusal on the car. I made the trip in to test drive, took a night to consider my other car options, and returned the next day to complete the paperwork. The financing process was simple and straight-forward, with fairly competitive rates and fees. The wagon did require a final piece of service work before the dealership would release it to me, so I was given a free loaner until the car was ready the next day. Overall the process was simple, pressure-free, and Cary's deep knowledge of Volvos and successful history at Portland Volvo set apart this from other dealerships. When returning for service work and to order parts, Bryan Woodworth and David Cleveland clearly conveyed expectations, explained the service work, advised quotes and pricing, provided loaners, and schedule service when convenient for me. I live in Boston and visiting Portland is an obvious investment. Understanding that, Heath made me a youtube video of the Audi A4 that I wanted; focusing in on the areas of most interest. He was incredibly professional and accessible.I had SO SO many bad experiences with the used car lots in Boston; I will not trash them here...Understanding my remote location, Heath went the extra mile. I unfortunately or fortunately bought my vehicle from another dealership in Boston but Heath earned my respect. I let him know what I was buying and he gave me the honest truth about the best he could do. The numbers didnt work for us but he is a true gentleman and absolute professional. This dealership goes the extra mile for the customer. Best dealership I've ever had experience with. I traveled 250 for the deal they offered. Tried to get as good a deal locally but they wouldn't budge. The deal included free tires through 60K. When I had the car serviced while in Florida I was told that I needed new tires. Therefore should have had to go to Maine to get them. Drove home to Vermont and called the dealer. The dealership was more than willing to work with me and arranged to have the new Michelins sent via a friend who was in the area. They COULD have insisted I bring the car in, but instead worked with me. I was also very pleased with the arrangements on the purchase, friendliness of everyone at the dealership, friendliness and courtesy on the phone, willingness to hear me out when I explained my situation.... everything they did supported the customer.

I just purchased a used Toyota Corolla for my 18 year old son for Portland Volvo and cannot say enough good things about the experience. From my first phone call with Scott who immediately set up an appointment (within a half hour)and test drive; to Heath who took care of the answering my questions, took me on the test drive and even drove the car to my home; to James who handled the financing I was treated with respect and kindness. All were helpful and did not pressure me. They even beat a very good interest rate I had coming in from my credit union. I think one of the things that impressed me most is I was buying a used car that was much less expensive than a Volvo. But you would never have known that in their interactions with me. My son loves his new car and we are hoping he will be driving it for years to come. Great experience...easy, friendly, helpful and kind one cannot ask for more - oh and a great deal!

I would historically have said "extended warranties are for suckers" but James gave me important and valid information for making a decision (I bought it). Ralph is friendly and very knowledgeable and provided a welcoming, patient, and positive experience.

Very helpful, informative, kept me up to date, negotiated what I felt was a very fair price for the vehicle. When there was a snafu with the New Jersey dealer from whom Portland Volvo was getting the car Ralph and others at Portland Volvo went to bat for me and for my car, securing an alternative vehicle that exceeded my expectations for price and amenities. I had an absolutely splendid buying experience with Portland Volvo. My salesman Ralph DeAngelo, was/is the consumate professional. He not only loves the product/car he sells,he is very knowledgeable about it as well. When I drove off the lot, Ralph made me feel that I had just purchased the number one car in the world. Subsequent to my purchase, his follow-up has been superb. However,I was not impressed with the used manager at all. I believe he should seek advice from Mr. DeAngelo on how to deal with customers. Overall, because of Ralph, I had a wonderful buying experience with Portland Volvo and would recomend Ralph DeAngelo to anyone seeking to buy a high quality vehicle.

I always end up spending more than I would have thought possible. The people make me want to return, but the cost makes it necessary for me to go elsewhere for services.

Had a great experience. Made an appt. for a test drive, sales rep called the day before to confirm. Car was ready and waiting and I bought it on the spot. Got a better interest rate from them than my own credit union. They even had the car delivered to me the next week at my place of work. Great experience, definitely recommenced.

I have sent this review once already but it was not published for reasons unknown. However, I feel compelled to spend a few more minutes to help the men and women and Portland Volvo. I am so pleased with my 2007 S80 I don't even care to drive my VW Toureg which is a beautiful vehicle in its own right. The price for the car was more than fair and it is in beautiful condition. I was hesitant to get a front wheel drive at first but I got set up with the winter wheel and tire package and the car performed beautifully in the limited snow and slush the we have had. The buying experience was top notch and the sales staff recognize that the cars will sell themselves, which leads to a low pressure environment. I did indulge a bit too much in the free coffee, so the maiden voyage was, let's say, jittery. Cary and James were super relaxed to work with and I appreciate their authenticity. The showroom is spotless and airy, very comfortable and cheerful. The vibe was a happy one. The cars are all gorgeous, so there's THAT. That's a good baseline for being happy, being surrounded by beauty. There was an excellent dog hanging around, and who doesn't love excellent dogs? Volvo has an unsurpassed reputation for safety, for reliability, for longevity, and this particular car is attractive. The price was absolutely right, and I'm delighted.

I had only gone into say hello to Cary w/NO intentions of purchasing a vehicle. Cary & I chatted for a few minutes & he showed me the car he thought I would like. That was an understatement, I absolutely loved it. Cary was fabulous & so was the Service Staff and the financial person. Everyone treated me like a real person and with respect. Portland Volvo is by far the best dealership in Maine. In 2007, I purchased a S40 that turned out to have some new electronic problems that were unheard of for the model. The Service Dept. worked endlessly with me to repair the car, even going as far coming to my office, leaving me a loaner car and taking my car back to the shop. The problem was fixed for over a year when it returned. At this point in owning my S40, and though I loved that little car, I couldn't trust it for my 80 mile round trip commute each day. I returned to the dealer and spoke to Mike, now the sales manager. (in 2007 he sold me my S40). Mike set me up with Pete to find me the right car. I purchased an S60 and drove it home in 4 hours. Pete was a super salesmen who took the time to help me out. The entire team worked to give me a great deal on the S60 so I could end up with the car of my dreams. The dealership stood by its product and gave me an incredible deal on the trade in of my old S40 and a price on the S60 that anyone would have been foolish to pass up. Pete made sure I loved my car and worked super hard with the rest of the staff to ensure that I would be content in my new car (and boy am I!). I can't be happier with my S60 and the service and level of respect I received from everyone at the dealer. (being in my 20's, many higher end car dealerships did not take my inquries seriouslly). Volvo's saying is "Volvo for Life." I see why, and will always drive Volvo's. Thanks to the team for a wonderful car buying exp. and all of your help. The car I purchased was listed at a very reasonable price and I was also offered a good price for the car I traded in. This resulted in a very pleasant transaction which required no heated negotiating. The sales associate I worked with was incredibly friendly and very helpful. In August 2009, I was rear-ended at a traffic light, my 1999 V7 R was totalled. I was devestated, I loved my red wagon that could go very fast! Working with Heath Lovely, I found car. I went into Portland Volvo to look and compare what they had with other dealers. I had pretty much decided I was buying a car at another dealer that I had a decent but not great price from closer to home. After looking at the XC70 in the showroom I spoke with Kate MacDiarmid one of the sales people there. I then got a price from them and a trade figure on my XC-90. both in the ball park of what I already had for prices. However, I decided to deal with Portland Volvo because of the ease of the transaction, low pressure, and the forthright manner in which Kate treated me. I was told upfront about costs associated with the transaction. There were no hidden costs after the deal was made and Kate went out of her way to help. She took as long as we needed after the sale to help familiarize us with the car and set up the bluetooth feature in car for our cell phones. I have bought several cars in the last few years and this was by far the easiest place to buy as well as the most helpful. I will definitely go back next year when I replace my other car.

We bought our first pre-owned Volvo from Portland Volvo in 2001. It had 41,000 miles on it. We turned it in this past week with 268,000 miles. All the servicing was done at Portland Volvo.Peter Boroyan was the salesman who sold us the 2001 Volvo. He knew his subject cold but was very low-key, and never aggressive about selling the car. I walked into Portland Volvo this week with the intent of either buying new, used or no Volvo at all; I wasn't fully sure I needed a new car since my '98 Volvo was running just fine. I was welcomed by Kate and a very friendly staff at Portland Volvo. I looked a few preowned, drove one and liked it. I went home to ponder buying it, when I started crunching numbers and looking at all the incentives Volvo was offering it seemed to make sense to buy new. So I went back over and looked at the same model but brand new, Kate and Tom, the a sales manager made me a great offer on my trade in and a new car. I was a little uncomfortable with the size of the car both inside and out. When I mentioned to them that I was unsure and that buying new was not imperative they came up with some great options of preowned in a different model and in my price range. We made a deal in less then a half hour. I assume it would have behooved them both to sell me a new car over a preowned but I never felt any pressure from either of them. It was evident that my being happy and comfortable was of the utmost concern to them.I will from here on out rely on Portland Volvo for all my Volvo needs.

A few months ago I went into Portland Volvo to check out leasing prices. At the time, the cars that were available were out of my budget, and I ended up leaving empty-handed. However, when things changed, I remembered how welcome Ralph made me feel the first time I went in, and so I went back. I am not the easiest customer to deal with.. I have four kids and very little time for small talk. Ralph moved at my pace and rolled with the punches with a smile on his face, (even when I had to nurse the baby in the waiting room..not always the most comfortable for other people, esp. men!). He made me completely at ease, as did the the Sales Manager. I ended up leaving with a beautiful used Volvo ,(that I can put all my kids in!), equipped with new brakes the whole way round! I love my car and I love the way that I didn't feel judged for not having a lot of cash to spend when I came in. Thanks a million Ralph!

We had visited a few dealerships when looking for our XC90. We found what we were looking for on the Portland Volvo website and it prompted us to make an appt to visit them. We were greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful staff and felt comfortable immediately. The quality of the vehicle was superb, the facility was immaculate, the staff was so friendly - every single person said hello or picked up conversation with us. And, because we have young children, the fact that there is a room that is equipped with toys, juice boxes, etc. was so helpful. And everyone was so willing to assist us with them - in keeping them occupied, so that we could spend the appopriate amount of time looking at the vehicle etc. The girl Kate at the front desk spent a ton of time playng with our daughter. And Kate, our salesperson, was so nice and patient and helpful. We were thrilled. We had such a great experience. I would highly recommend this dealership and Kate MacDiarmid!

I had been looking for a Saab and had planned to travel to Boston to look at a few vehicles I had found on the internet. On my way to the Boston area, I decided to visit Kate MacDiarmid - a personal friend - while in Portland. During my initial visit, she showed me around but as I was intent on buying a Saab I didn't pay too much attention to vehicles on the lot. Kate suggested I look at a vehicle at Portland Saab as it was in the general category that I was considering. It turned out that the vehicle at Portland Saab did not meet my criteria. Fortunately, Kate knew what I was looking for - as she had asked questions about why I was replacing my "old" vehicle, what I needed in my "new" vehicle, and what my price range was. She reminded me of a vehicle that we had looked at earlier - that I had passed over - that she knew met all of my criteria - even though I didn't! Fortunately I took her advice, drove the car, and after a short conversation with the sales manager - made a deal that I'm very happy with. I have purchased 2 used and 1 new Saab, all are/were 9.5's from this dealership.My daughter recently bought a used 9.3 as well. The buying experience in all cases was more than pleasant, and they were always competitive price wise. All used vehicles were bought as Certified, which I think is the best way to go in most cases, particulary for European makes. Two years ago I bought a new 9.5 Aero wagon (sorry, Sport-Combi) as low mileage used ones were hard to find. Love the car, trouble free.The service dept., for me, has been terrific. Even if it is something like a last minute oil change, as well as scheduled service, I generally get a nice loaner Saab, and the repairs/service is done right, the first time. They make a huge effort to fit me in when I call, and seem very concerned about my overall satisfaction.Matt,the service manager has bent over backwards to make me a happy camper,and I am.By way of comparison, I had two Certified Audi A-6's and an Infiniti Q-45 prior to the Saab's, and in both cases the sales and service departments were indifferent, at best. I'll never forget, my last A-6 needed a new drivers side windsheild wiper motor, and we were getting daily snow and ice, a storm was predicted for the weekend, so it was really not a good situation. Remember, this is in Maine.The service "team" guy assigned to my car said, and it was a Firday afternoon, "It will be two or three days" before they could get me a replacement windshield wiper motor. (Note: this was my second A-6 and third vehicle I had bought from this outfit, the other was a Mazda). I really felt like I was getting in the way of the "Customer Service" guys weekend plans. When I asked my service rep. what he would do if his driver side windshield motor conked out in the middle of Feb. he said, and this is almost verbatum, "I wouldn't know, I drive a GMC truck". I almost fell over. The Saab dealership was just up the street, I drove over to complain I guess, and they gave me a brand new loaner for THE WEEKEND, as a major storm was predicted. I left my crippled Audi with them for the weekdnd and that was the last time I drove her. As you can guess, although I did not buy that vehicle, it was a 9., I did end up buying a nice Certified 9.5. I will never go back to the Audi dealership. Ever. Great dealership, over the top service dept. and manager and I'll stick with these guys as long as they sell cars. JSM 2454

I live in New canaan CT 293 miles (one way) from Portland Volvo but my sales visits take me frequently to Maine. I drive 60,000 miles per year and since 1992 have driven Volvo's, 11 of them, the last 9 from Portland Volvo. Over a 50 year sales career I have driven and been serviced by dozens of dealers and makes of cars. Volvo is unquestionably the very best of all of them but more importantly, Peter Boroyan, and his legion of supporters (associates)at Portland Volvo are truly extraordinary in what they do. My business would flounder if I ever lost sight of the value and needs of my customers. many automobile companies and agencies are currently doing so - but not Portland Volvo. Peter and Lou worked harder to retain my business on this sale then on my first with them 15 years ago. Mark and his service group are so good and such professionals that I also drive my wife's V-40 and my sons C-90 the 600 miles up to Portland for servicing as well. To further illustrate my point I should note that two of my son's and one of my brothers have bought Portland Volvo's I was turning in for new ones. In recent years brand loyalty seems to have lost it's impact, price and surfing the interent is what is important. I say, balderdash, in my business its quality , a fair price , service, service and service - and that is what will always keep bringing me back up to Portland Volvo. They are , indeed, the finest, the very best!

Dear DealerRater,Possibly for the first time in my 46 years of life, having purchased more than 13 cars now, have I actually enjoyed my car purchasing experience. I will highly recommend Kate MacDiarmid to my friends and family members for the following reasons:1) She was not pushy the way most people dislike car salespeople.2) She was authentic, meaning she didn't pretend to be someone she's not. She was honest that she was knew at car sales and that she had been raising children prior to working there.3) She was an excellent listener. When I told her I didn't want a silver or red car, she didn't later try to show me a car with these colors. When I told her I wanted to talk price before test driving a car, she didn't push me to test drive until I knew which car I wanted. When I told which features were important to my wife, she remembered these features later when showing me cars. When she learned that I needed to be driving out of there by a certain time, she did what she could to make that happen.4) She offered me beverages and food more than once.5) She knew how to fill out the paperwork even though she was fairly new at the job.6) As an afterthought, she even called me the next day to see how both me and my wife liked the car.I was happily surprised to meet Kate when I called the dealership before going there. I even happier when I met her in person and began dealing with her. She raises the quality of Portland Volvo's image in my mind. I was in the market for a certified pre-owned volvo. The sales representative listened to what I wanted and pointed me in the direction of an excellent car -- I owned it the same day. That's why I have been doing business with them for 30 years! They are just great and have serviced all of the volvos (only 4!!!) that I have owned. The service people are very friendly, helpful and professional. I wouldn't trust anyone else to buy a used car from!

I purchased my first Cross Country from Portland Volvo, through Peter Boroyan, in 2002. Since then, we have moved to Blue Hill, Me, about 150 miles downeast of Portland, and have continued to bring the car down to Portland Volvo for service. The service has been flawless; potential problems have been picked up before they became a major issue and the "old girl" continued to chug along without any breakdowns or days out of service for almost seven years.Last week I decided it was time to trade; the Cross Country had 166,000 miles on it! I've told Peter over the years that I would call him when I was ready to purchase a new one and made the call. Peter was pleased to hear from me and, together, we went over the inventory on Portland Volvo's internet site. I had rented a 2008 Cross Country in Utah for a week last year so didn't feel the need for a test drive. After discussing a few vehicles, Peter helped me decided on a practically new "retired loaner" 2009 V70XC. Peter was kind enough to accept a deposit over the phone and hold the car, subject to my inspection and valuation of my trade.I picked up the new car yesterday and returned to Blue Hill. I can't say enough about Peter Boroyan as a salesman. He listens to his customers, has tremendous patience and always has a smile on his face. Lou was extremely pleasant and professional on the financial end. I look forward to getting the same courteous, professional service that I've enjoyed over the past seven years and only hope that this car lasts as long as the old one.

This past week, specifically on 4-10-2009, my wife and I were simply driving down Route 1 South to Portsmouth, N.H. when we came upon Portland, Volvo, we pulled in just to see what they had on the lot.I personally have had my heart set on a Volvo XC90 since 2002. This was the one car I have wanted to give to my family for their safety for years. We were on the lot less than 5 to 7 minutes when Mr. DAngelo approached us. He was not pushy, did not try to be slick, or insult our intelligence. He never once tried to pass off a business card but instead exuded confidence in his person and his product. He was inquisitive to our desires and respected our budget and took the initiative to go get keys so that we could get inside the vehicles and was more than happy to let my wife test drive the one she was really looking hard at.Ralph understands that to earn friends and trust, you first have to be a friend and extend yourself. Ralph is the type of person whom you wish you could know all your life. His knowledge, initiative, integrity, and selflessness are above reproach.In conjunction with having met Ralph we were also honored with the presence of the entire staff, it was a dynamic team, focused on the customer not the dollar! They were very accommodating even for our children. I assure anyone who visits this dealership will feel relaxed and quite at home. GREAT JOB EVERYONE! The big sport-utility vehicle stood out in the parking lot it was sparkling clean, but also was a beautiful pure white. Unlike some vehicles that lack the power to back up those looks, the XC90 does not disappoint. Granted, the XC90 won't appeal to everyone, but just give it a chance and I am positive you will change your mind. I recently purchased a 2006 Volvo v50 from Portland Volvo and received the most courteous and helpful sales experience from the staff. The experience, from sales to financing, was second to none. Portland Volvo has managed to excel where most other car dealerships fall short- a combination of fair negotiations and customer service. My experience was pressure-free and extremely fair. Ralph and Kate helped me get into the car I wanted, for the price I wanted, in less than a day. The sales staff's knowledge of the product is second to none and I would highly recommend purchasing any vehicle from Portland Volvo. I will definitely be purchasing my next vehicle from Portland Volvo.

The sales staff communicated effectively & efficiently with us. Portland Volvo worked quickly and accommodated our schedules to make the sale before the end of the month (even staying late). We never felt pressured or uncomfortable. We received the car in excellent condition, however, it didn't appear to be cleaned after we test drove it, as the salesperson led us to believe (this was not a big deal, however, because the car is in such good shape overall). After the sale, Portland Volvo followed up with us to be sure we were pleased with the car and stressed if we ever had any questions or concerns to not hesitate to contact them. The customer service there is second to none. We haven't been in for any service to date so we can't rate that aspect of the dealership. We visited Portland Volvo after friends and family had positive experiences and we weren't disappointed. Portland Volvo's prices are usually better than other dealers in the area, too.

I am writing in regards to my experience of purchasing a car from Portland Volvo. Specifically, the superb customer service displayed by Kate. Even though I buy a car about every three years, its a process I dont look forward to. Kate did a great job keeping the process as streamlined and straightforward as possible. She kept me up to date as the car went through service and through the process of completing all the paper work. After the deal was done, she called me at home and even sent a letter to make sure there were no problems with the car. I understand that Kate has only been at Portland Volvo a short period of time but by witnessing her in-action no one would ever know. If I had to describe Kate in a few words it would be: The consummate professional. Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts.

I have to say that I have received the best customer service from Ralph D'Angelo. He has always stayed intouch with me thru all the issues I have had with my car, no matter how frustrated I have been he has always e-mailed me to see how I my car is and it feels nice to walk into the dealer ship and have Ralph reconize me and not ignore me like I have been in the past at other dealer ships. I am very happy to say that this is the first dealership to make me feel like a customer should feel. Dave in the service department has also been extremly pleasant with me when I got frustrated with my car and it problems it has had since I got it. Dave has gone above and beyond to make me feel like he understands me and to reassure me that the problem will get fixed no matter what. I recently went in to trade my Volvo that I had purchased new from Portland Volvo a few years back, that initial buying experience was a nightmare in itself. I had been told to return to Portland Volvo for the BEST trade in price when I was ready to do so, well that was NOT the case. I did end up purchasing another vehicle from them only to learn my lesson (that is not to go back). My sales person was wonderful, not a thing bad to say about this person. I was given squat for my very well kept Volvo only to see it on their sales lot with the price jacked up 5700.00. That made me furious. By the way the car does not even book for the price they have it listed for. Highway robbery! I did not expect to get a ton for my trade just something fair with some negotiation, but to me (and this is just my opinion) that was a big slap in the face. I work for a LARGE hospital in Portland Maine and will not hesitate to tell my story about my dealings with Portland Volvo. All I can say in closing is I hope they sleep well at night, ripping people off the way they do. Also they left me with repairs that needed to be done on the car I bought to have fixed on my own, not good customer service in my book. I know people will say well you should have walked out, you know how dealerships are... Well yes I do but I truly thought they were true to their word on at least a few things. I do have to say for all service repairs on my first vehicle purchased with Port Volvo, I did receive A+ treatment.

I went to Portland VOlvo because I had heard good things about the dealership. I must say that my experience there was wonderful. Ralph D'Angelo was my sales person and he was outstanding!! I told him what I was looking for in the car and he immediately found exactly what I wanted. He introduced me to the Service MAnager and other staff that I would meet when I was in the dealership. It was clearly evident to me that I was in a dealership that cared about the customer and their customer service skills were exempelary. I have not owned a Volvo before but my experience with POrtland Volvo has now converted me to a Volvo owner. I have told my friends about Portland Volvo and Ralph D'Angelo and what a pleasure it was to work with them and what a great new car I own!

This dealership goes above and beyond in every aspect of service. Loaners are available easily, and the waiting room in convenient and comfortable with added bonuses of coffee, water, snacks, etc. What a great place! The service reps are very courteous and make customers come back again and again.

I bought a car from these guys while living in CT...took the bus to Portland, Scott picked me up in the car. We spent as long as we wanted to going over the car, and Scott was very helpful and knowledgable. Then we went to Josh to finalize the deal. Josh was straightforward and explained everything to us. In less then 15 minutes we were back on the road with our new car and a full tank of gas. It was the best of my 3 out of state car buying experiences I've had. I'd recommend them to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. Great job guys!

Prompt response to internet inquiry by Scott resulted in a trip to Portland Volvo the following day. We were met by Scott at the appointed time and then met Ralph and test drove 2 vehicles. Purchased a new 2008 Volvo V-70 station wagon. This is an exceptional dealership.

The only issue was that the vehicle was out of alignment and had to be brought back the next week for an alignment. Therefore I gave quality of work a 4 out of 5. This is the 5th volvo we have purchased from this dealership. The salesmen, managers, finance and repair were all very easy to work with.

My first time purchasing a vehicle - Michael was an excellent resource for us. There was no pressure, everything was very aboveboard, and I felt that I could trust my sales person, which was most important. I checked out another Volvo dealership down in MA (which had more volume), but the whole experience there felt very much like the stereotypical salesman experience that one has nightmares about: no one wanted to give a fixed price, the price kept changing, the sales guy acted like a knucklehead trying to juggle multiple customers at once for some reason. None of that applied at Portland Volvo. It was very laid back and friendly. Whether it is my perception or the reality , I think I got great value for the price I paid. Can't speak to the quality of work at the dealership since I just purchased the car, but the dealership looks very professional, and I know they have a fleet of loaner cars too.

Purchasing an automobile is not usually a pleasant experience, but I began the process on-line with an inquiry and found that doing business with Portland Volvo was more pleasant than I anticipated. Ron Bell is a professional. After answering my questions on-line I visited the dealership to take a test drive and have my trade appraised. The process was not lengthy and there was not any pressure put on me to make my decision. Ultimately, I purchased the vehicle I had seen at Portland Volvo's website and am very happy with the vehicle as well as the buying experience.
