I seriously cannot recommend Pritchard Auto enough!!! I had been hunting for the perfect car for more than 6 months, after a shady experience with another dealership, the next day I came across Dan and his team. I called about a car and an hour later walked onto that lot and found MY car. Dan was so helpful and friendly, Matt has been patient and attentive to all of my needs, and the entire team just does a wonderful job. This family owned dealership has definitely earned its great reputation and I could not be happier with my purchase and experience from Pritchard Auto. They are transparent and honest, have some of the best prices around and really make you feel cared for. A month after purchasing my vehicle the owner Bill gave me call, as if we were old friends, just to check up on me and make sure I was satisfied with my new car. I've been taking my car to Pritchard for Oil Changes & Inspections since Sept 2013. I've always worked with Ed. My car had been making a weird rattling noise for some time but I hadn't addressed it. I took it for an oil change in June 2015 & asked for an estimate on a Timing Belt, Water pump & Serpentine belts as my car had hit 100,000 miles. I also asked where they would recommend I get new speakers for my car. I took the car in for the replacements over a week later & the serpentine belt was still not in yet so I had to go back to get that replaced two weeks later even though the belt was due the time of the first appt. During the first appt I was told I could get a ride home but they wouldn't be able to pick me up to get my car until the following day. I had plans that night so I stayed. I was told the appt would take 3-4 hours. I ended up in the waiting room for 7 hours. Someone else in the waiting room with me in the morning was dropped off & picked up while I was there & was wondering why I had been there the whole time. I was told it took longer than expected because they had trouble getting rusted screws back in. When I got home I checked out my car & there was a cover underneath that was hanging down because it was missing two screws. I had them put two screws in during the Serpentine replacement. In September I noticed something hanging down underneath my car & brought it in for that & to get it prepared for inspection. They told me it needed a sway bar, complete exhaust because it was cracked in the front, replace the heat shield that had almost fallen off (which they removed), and brake lines on the driver's side. I took it to another shop to get a 2nd opinion and they brought me in to see how bad the rust was underneath my car so I could see for myself & all the work that needed to be done because of the rust issue. They said it needed all that Pritchard said but also needed new struts, and that the oil pan was dripping oil so there might be a leak. They said the brake line was so bad if I slammed on my brakes I might lose them. They said the frame was rusted so bad they were afraid to put it on the lift again. Plus they asked me if the clutch had ever been replaced. I said no & they said that was an expensive repair and as the car was 16 years old that may have to be done soon. So they recommended that I buy a new car as the repairs that needed to be done were extensive, the rust would lead to more repairs down the road, and I was better off spending my money on a new car. They recommended a couple of places in Cortland to buy a car. The guy also told me that service people are often paid commission on repairs so it is only beneficial to them to recommend repairs to their clients. I was heartbroken and felt betrayed by Pritchard's. Pritchard's even sells cars too so they could have sold me a new car. I don't understand how they could have missed all of these issues during previous inspections or during the oil change in June. If they had told me about all of the repairs necessary in June I would have bought a new car then. I would not have replaced the belts & water pump and bought new speakers. Because of this I ended up throwing away $1220 when I bought a new car in September. When I pulled up the car salesman even said he understood why I was buying a new car after hearing how it sounded. Today I spoke to Bill Pritchard who calls customers to see what they thought of their experience. This was the first time I was contacted - not after either of the belt replacements but because I hadn't brought it back after having them look at it in Sept.. He left a message on September 28th & I finally had time to get back to him. I told him everything & told him I would never bring my car back to Pritchard's again. He looked up my last two work tickets & spoke to Ed. Ed told him the rust wan't that bad & he wouldn't be afraid to put it up on a lift again. Bill said he stood behind Ed's opinion. No apology.

I HAD TRAVELED FROM WISCONSIN TO NEW YORK WITH MY SON'S BELONGINGS TO HELP HIM MOVE INTO AN APARTMENT AS HE WAS GOING TO BE ATTENDING COLLEGE THERE IN ITHACA. MY VAN OVER HEATED AND COULDN'T BE DRIVEN ANYMORE. IT HAPPENED THAT PRICHARD AUTOMOTIVE WAS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. WE HEADED OVER AND I EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM. IT WAS A THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND THEY WERE CLOSING IN AN HOUR. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VAN OVER AND THEY PUT IT IN THE BUILDING FOR SAFE KEEPING. THE NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME WHAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE IT DONE FOR ME THAT DAY. THEY CALLED THAT AFTERNOON TO TELL ME IT WAS COMPLETED AND I COULD PICK IT UP. I ALSO RENTED A JEEP LIBERTY FROM THEM WHILE THE VAN WAS BEING WORKED ON. EVERYONE THERE WAS SOOO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL !! I CAN'T THANK THEM ENOUGH. THEY REALLY HELPED ME OUT IN A TIME OF NEED. THANK YOU ALL AT PRICHARD AUTOMOTIVE.

This was the best car-buying experience of my life, and I'm not a young man. Dan Pritchard and the other Pritchards I met were straight-forward, genuine, and helpful. There was no attempt to "work" me; I never felt cornered or pressured. They were cordial and efficient. They showed me the car and let me test drive it without gimmicks or conditions. There was no pressure. I quickly obtained the information I needed about the car and the costs. Being a deliberative person, I wanted time to think it over. Pritchard mostly sells used cars and is a repair shop that is an historical fixture in Ithaca for generations. In fact, over the few days of making the purchase, I personally dealt with 3 of the generations! All salt of the earth. The used Toyota Matrix we bought was sold at a fair price and any repairs we requested were made without any delay or discomfort. Just recently bought a used car from them (excellent experience.... fair price for purchased car and for my trade in.... ) for my daughter as she was getting ready to drive to Chicago and I wanted her to have a lower-mileage car. Three days later - Friday evening - some idiot hit her and smashed up the bumper. We called Bill Pritchard and he said to bring the car over after the police finished up and he would stay late until we got there. When we got there about an hour or so later he was still there waiting for us and took good care of us then and through the rest of the process of getting the car fixed. Took them less time to fix it then it took to get the idiot driver's insurance company to agree to pay. Got the car back today and it is perfect. In short, they went the extra mile to make this ordeal very easy to deal with. Great people! Family run and in business for almost 100 years!

I had a damaged tire that needed to be replaced. Pritchard Automotive was able to locate an exact match, and then undertook all the details to mount and balance the replacement tire, They cleaned the mounting surfaces of all the wheels, and rotated all the tires. They also performed lube, oil and filter replacement service today, and let me know that I will need new brakes in a few thousand miles away. I purchased the car that was serviced today at Pritchard Automotive, in October 2012. I trust them to be honest and provide quality service.

The dealer gave me great information about vehicle. That was very helpful for me to understand exactly the vehicle I wanted, because I did not have any knowledge of vehicle. first and foremost, their customer service at the front desk is very pleasant. they answer the phone politely and say please and thank you, etcetera. but what they DON'T do is inform you that you will pay 100+% mark-up on already-retail costs for your parts. for instance i just had the pleasure of buying 4 new spark plugs for my mini-cooper at $117.56. if you're getting something fixed there just ask for the exact parts/numbers they will need for your repairs and then deliver them yourself. had i supplied 4 of the exact same spark plugs to them (at retail cost) from a supplier (at $11.46 each) i would have saved $71.72 . The car and I could have gone out for a lovely dinner with that cash-including tip. after calling to ask about this line-item expense they then informed me that people bring their own parts all the time. HERE IS YOUR WARNING. don't pay 3 times as much for your repair parts i'm guessing windshield washer fluid is about $20 per gallon. i'm glad they TOTALLY FORGOT to change the oil and filter as i requested. i imagine i just accidentally saved about $60-$80. looks like i'll book a reservation at FineLine Bistro.

I've used Pritchard for more than 30 years, and last year bought my 7th car from them. I also recently had body work done after an accident that occurred on Christmas Eve (rear-ended in a snowstorm). You could not ask for a better car dealership and repair shop - they are prompt, friendly, helpful, honest and wonderful representatives of a family-owned business. Their body work was flawless, and they did all of the dealing with the insurance company - so made it easy for me all around. - They have poor quality of workmanship - They don't check their work - They charge people for mistakes they made - They don't stand behind their service Details below: In October 2012 I took my car (2003 BMW 330xi) to change the valve cover gasket at this place. The service took 2 days, and they even provided courtesy shuttle. However, after I picked up the car, the check engine light came on. I took the car back, and they said that one of the vacuum lines has been damaged during repairs and charged me extra to replace it and clear the codes (their reasoning was that the car is 9 years old and plastic is brittle). After I picked up the car the second time, the check engine light came on again in. This time they forgot to connect air intake to the MAF sensor. Luckily, they didn't charge me for this mistake. Six month later the valve cover gasket started leaking again (I was in Cali so it took me some time to visit this place again). I went to Prichards today, and they said that it is probably bad gasket, or warped valve cover, and offered me "may be some discount" to look at it. Well, I already know that the quality of their labor is horrible, than they don't double check their work and that charge people for the mistakes they make. I advise you against going there: even though the service people are nice and attentive, they do horrible job at fixing cars and their workmanship is poor.

My vehicle was in dire need of an oil pan and Pritchard's replaced it as quoted. Their timing was as stated. I also had the spark plugs replaced, which is not an easy task on my vehicle. With numerous troubles encountered during the replacement, the Mechanic still got the job done on time. From that point on, both of our vehicles have gone to Pritchard's for repair work. They have gotten us in for same-day repairs multiple times. Just today I received a phone call from them reminding me that my inspection was coming up at the end of the month (I had forgotten). Making the appointment was as easy as answering "when is convenient for you?". Nothing but nice, friendly, knowledgeable people working there.

And Pritchard's went the extra mile. The car I delivered to them was covered with with winter grime. The car I got back was shining clean and polished, down to the hubcabs. Another repair shop made a list of maintenance items that my car needed. Some I believed; others I wasn't so sure about. Pritchard gave me the "reality check," noting that 2 of the items weren't needed now, and charging me FAR less than the other place quoted. Previously brought our car to 4 other facilities in Ithaca, spent well over $1,000 and many months trying to fix whatever was wrong with our car. Roger and his crew had it fixed within 4 hours and were totally reasonable. As long as we live in Ithaca, we will ONLY bring our car to Pritchard's. There is a reason they come so highly recommended. Believe the "hype" written in all the reviews here - these guys are professionals in every sense of the word. We can't thank them enough. Not only would we highly recommend them to anyone who ever asked for a referral, but we would INSIST they go here. After this experience, we would only consider buying our second car from them when the time comes. We have lived in many cities over the last decade, and experienced some great service from a few dealerships and auto shops - but Pritchard's is definitely the best. My truck broke down and had to be towed in after hours. Early the next morning the service rep contacted me to discuss the problems. Within a very short time I had a diagnosis and an estimate of charges based on the book that mechanics use. I had already made up my mind that I wouldn't have a vehicle for a couple of days.... Not so fast...early in the same afternoon I recieved a call to let me know that my truck was ready and that the cost was lower than expected! What can be better than fast, reliable service with honesty? I have been taking my vehicles to Pritchard Automotive for the past 3 years. I'm afraid my review is just a repetition of what others have said -- these people seem as honest as the day is long. The final bill was within a few bucks of the estimate; everything is done beautifully, looks like new. When we went over to the office to pay, there was Bill Pritchard, seemingly looking just the same as years ago, and quick to greet us. I can't say how glad I am to have a solid family business like this entering its second century right in the heart of the city.

I just bought my sixth car from Pritchards, and in all my experience with car dealers and repair shops they are far and above the best folks for both sale and service. I bought 5 new Dodge/Chrysler mini-vans from them, beginning in the mid-1908s - and their service department has always been so supportive and honest that I've never gone anywhere else. This is a family business located in the heart of Ithaca; they know the community and give back to it in many ways. When Chrysler pulled their dealership several years ago - after nearly 100 years as a Chrysler dealer - I contacted Chrysler several times to argue in favor of keeping it, and each time they were dismissive, insensitive and ignorant in their responses, so I will never buy another new Chrysler product. But I've stuck with Pritchards, and just bought a 2 year old Hyundai Santa Fe from them - it's in beautiful condition and fits my needs perfectly. The service department is great, especially Ed; they always give you an honest assessment, give you a ride to work while your car is being repaired, and I trust them completely to look after my car.

I took my vehicle in to get the inside detailed as I was being alittle slack with keeping it clean. In my line of business it sometimes get pretty dirty and I needed a detail cleaning to get it back to being "like new" again. They did a wonderful job. I had my first experience with Pritchard's service department just a couple of days ago. I actually followed one of Maguire's best mechanics over there. I was totally surprised by the quality of service that I received there! Everyone was courteous and took their time to explain all the charges. I didn't get a whole list of "suggested" extra services or "uncovered problems" that I didn't even know about. It was a far less pressured atmosphere. I am sure Maguire is trying to find ways to pay off their remodeling/acquisition phase. Quite honestly, I walk into their repair shop prepared to get hassled. I had no idea what I was missing! These guys have been around a long time and I can see how they survive in this monopoly-like atmosphere. They EARN people's business. I will definitely go their again.

Unfortunately, I cannot give any praise to our recent service/repair experience. At the end of the day, the "repairs" they conducted were faulty, causing us to have more problems than we initially had. One miss diagnosis led to another supposed solution whereby we decided to take it elsewhere, whereby they pointed out all the errors the service team performed, explaining to us how their neglagence could have caused a series of electrical problem. Despite our safety placed in harms way, they refuse to accept responsibility, even after presenting them with a list of errors they performed. Save your money and peace of mind, go elsewhere!

We've bought both our cars there and now I won't go anyplace else for service. The sales personnel made everything very easy. This was my 2nd visit to Pritchard for auto repair. They don't prescribe what's unnecessary, They don't bully you, They give you straight-up facts They deliver well under the timeframe they provide. I've had 3 different vehicles in for repairs and/or NYS inspections within the last three weeks and have discovered an absolute gem for the repair of any vehicle. The repairs were performed expertly and the staff were courteous and professional. For two NYS inspections they were honest with no repairs needed and merely the inspection fee due. I also had a car in their body shop as a result of a fender bender and the repair was made at quoted cost and presented back to me within just a couple of days looking good as new. My only regret is that I hadn't come to Pritchard sooner instead of others as the service experience is absolutely first rate at a fair price.

I have started taking my vehicles to Pritchard for service and repairs, first because I heard of their excellent reputation and second because I have become unhappy with the dealer from whom all my vehicles (three) have been purchased. Since going to Pritchard's, I have been very pleased with their personal service, and keeping me posted. In the most recent experience, I took my car in complaining of an apparent loss of oil, and then an engine malfunction light came on. They kept me advised throughout their investigation, and finally we jointly decided that the PCV valve needed to be replaced. This has been done, and so far, the car is running fine at 51000 miles.

Our Jeep's tire was losing air. We dropped it off at Pritchard's at 4:30PM. They cleaned, plugged the tire, and did an oil change. We got the jeep back before 12noon the next day so that we could use it for work. We've been using Pritchard's for years!

I have been a customer at Pritchard Automotive for about 8 years. I bought a new Dodge Neon from them in 2004 and my husband just bought a pre-owned toyota Camry. I have brought my car to them for all warranty and out of warranty repair work and maintenance. The buying process with them was no pressure because you are dealing directly with the owners. I think they have fair pricing.

WOW....this dealer is so friendly and customer service oriented with owners on site and part of this great team. Had the interior of my car cleaned as I have not been able to do so for 5 months. They did an outstanding job and the car looked like new again, and it is a 2001 model! I would definitely return and try other services without hesitation.

The Pritchard's are customer service driven. Not only the family owners, but the whole staff. I found the perfect van for my business and they made the small tweaks I needed to close the deal. Totally stress free process. I have had service done by them as well and Larry the shop manager and his staff are great. I will be doing business with these folks for a long time to come.

Took vehicle in without appointment and Pritchard's was able to get me in the same day. This is typical of their service as I have been there many times before. They always care about how well they do. Recommended to anyone who wants quality service and people to deal with.

I have been looking another repair shop and I think I have found it. Thank you Pritchard Automotive! As my Prius gets older (over 150K miles!) it needs a little more TLC. I'm glad to have found a trustworthy, kind, and convenient service center. So often I have felt as if service centers have tried to push repairs on me. I have never felt that at Pritchard. The place exudes warmth and honest caring about me as a customer. The repairs were shockingly speedy (I didn't have time to finish all of my errands!) and mindfully done. They have always taken the time to follow up with me a few days later. I had one repair that was a bit puzzling and required a couple of visits. They worked cheerfully and diligently until the frustrating mystery of my bad tail lamp was solved. Their prices are fair and often less than I anticipated. The place is friendly and clean, with no TV blaring daytime programs at me. It is such a relief to sit in a waiting room without a squawking TV. The times I've chosen not to stay and wait, I've walked the one block to the library or the two sort blocks to the town commons. What a great location! It's a treat to drop my car for service in town where I don't feel stranded without my car. They have a certified Toyota Master Mechanic on staff. With those skills combined with such a good attitude, I highly recommend them. . When my Prius does finally grow old enough for a trade-in, I imagine that Pritchard will be the first place I'll look.

After my 40+ years of owning cars and trucks and probably some 20 vehicles later I can unequivocally say that Pritchard Automotive is the finest dealer to deal with and the best in service. Prompt, courteous, and accurate in their diagnosis are all reasons to engage with only the best. I hope to be able to deal with Pritchard Automotive over the next 40+ years and 20 more vehicles.

This was my first visit for service here, and I went because I had heard good things about their service. I was greeted and promptly taken care of, and they gave me a ride across town to another appointment, even though it was a nice day and I could have walked. I'm sure I'll be back.

I bought two different new Dodge vans from Pritchard over the past eight years, and continue to go back there for service, even though they are no longer the Dodge dealer. Appointments are easy to make, and the staff is friendly and competent. In my fifty years of auto dealings, they are the best dealership I have encountered.

I had had a serious car accident and was certainly not expecting to be shopping for a car at this time. My good friends had recommended Prichard and have been using them for years. We have been Pritchard customers for many years. We purchased our first and second new Chrysler Town and Country Minivan's from them and now with our third T&C, return to them for service even though,unfortunately, they no longer sell new T&C's. Their service is ideal, from the time Service Manager "Ed" greets his customers with a smile and adjusts schedules to meet our needs. We have ALWAYS been satisfied with Pritchard repairs, their clear explanations of issues, and reminders of regular maintenance. We drive away from Pritchard's feeling appreciated and confident.

They are wonderful. Great service, arranged a rental for me. Prices are reasonable. Customer Service top-notch. The owner always calls to follow up. Who does that any more!! Technician called with findings and pricing, so we could discuss and prioritize repairs. A good honest company that should be given all your business. Family owned for over 100 yrs. says something.

Last week I took my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan in for an air conditioning problem. I was pleased with the speedy repair, but really pleased when I got the invoice. It was BELOW the original estimate! Since 1970, I have had Pritchard's service all my vehicles, Over the years, I purchased a 2001, 2005 and 2008 Dodge Van from Pritchards. My next vehicle will definitely be from Pritchards! Happy 100th Anniversary to Bill, Tom and Dan Pritchard.

I bring my Subaru here for service instead of the Subaru dealer because the service is excellent, the staff is friendly and I have never had any problems with the repairs. Before my Subaru I took both of my Dodge vehicles here-so I have been a customer for almost 15 years. I would not go anywhere else. Several times I thought I had a major problem and the mechanics there were honest and did not do any unnecessary work-and this is exactly why I will always go to Pritchard. For example the front end of my subaru was vibrating badly and I thought I'd need some front end work. All I needed was a tire weight-which they replaced and I was on my way. Mr Pritchard calls each person whose vechicle is serviced there to see if the customer is happy. I don't think this happens anywhere else-It's just good service-the way we wish all businesses would treat us (but don't)

Quick and friendly car inspection. I really appreciated being able to get in & out, without leaving my car there all day. We have been searching for a good used car and came upon W.L Pitchard family dealership in Ithaca NY. They have been a family owned and run car dealership since the early 1900's. Tom was great, funny and honest. We were coming from Vestal so he met us at 6:30 pm on a Monday. Had the car all ready to go, we test drove it and bought it. He brought it inside the garage so we could look at it in the light. The also use CARFAX and each report is available on-line when searching..A huge bonus. Great Family run business..Made you feel like good friends. I would definitely recommend them to anyone...Do yourself a favor and buy from these guys!!!!!!!!

I had a terrific experience buying a used car from Pritchard Automotive. It's a family-run dealership with a long history in Ithaca, NY. Dan Pritchard was my salesman. He gave me a great deal, and he went out of his way to make sure I was completely content with my purchase. I never felt under pressure or that I was I being misled. Dan was friendly, matter-of-fact, and helpful throughout the sale process. I consider him a friend now! When I came to pick up my car, both Dan and his father Bill personally put the license plates on my vehicle, and it seemed like everyone in the dealership, from the Pritchards, to the service people, to the administrative people, came outside to shake my hand and see me off! I highly recommend the Pritchards and I will definietly do business with them again.

It was refreshing to walk into a dealership and not feel the pressure of buying a car. This family owned dealership makes the customer feel appreciated and valued. Right away father and son made me feel comfortable and allowed me to choose a car that was right for me. They were up front about features, costs etc. I don't think I would go anywhere else to buy another car. SOLD!

We have never been treated so kindly or professionally when shopping for a car. Dan Pritchard and Bill Pritchard went out of their way to help us find a car suitable and comfortable for my husband who is handicapped. They were patient with him and waited for him to get in and out of different cars with ease. I have always been satisfied with their service department and have been helped by them many times when I had a problem with my vehicles. I would recommend this dealership to all my relatives, friends, and acquaintances. I can not say that about other dealerships I have dealt with in the past. I believe we received a more than fair deal for the car we purchased.
