Donovan was AMAZING! Super kind and helpful, and was very understanding of how much money I was able to spend on a vehicle. I had a sales experience that was so much better than I anticipated and that was due to Jared Peters. I started shopping around online, and truly wanted to buy at my favorite dealership closer to home, but Tonkin had the exact used car I was looking for. As I work full time and care for my mom when I'm not at work, I didn't have time to visit dealerships and spend hours looking. Having my financing already lined up made it nearly effortless. The only challenge was to my patience, waiting 2 weeks for the car to be inspected. When Jared jumped in to start fielding my questions and give me more info about the car, I knew that the process would go as smooth as possible. He was always timely, helpful, and informative. I will definitely recommend this Tonkin dealership, and Jared.

This was easily the best car buying experience I've ever had. I went in wanting to look at a specific car. They had it parked out front, ready to test drive. Jared helped me and he was super friendly and helpful. No one was pushy or rude. The car I wanted had a crack in the windshield and I didn't even have to mention it, they told me it would be replaced. Sure enough, I bought my car on a Saturday and they called to schedule the replacement Monday morning. I'm not a huge fan of the car buying process, but this was so easy and refreshing. So happy I gave them a chance and I got to leave with exactly what I wanted.

I was contacted by Derek after registering in a car buying service. We discussed the car and options I was looking for and within a couple days he presented me with the details on a vehicle that was very close to perfect and immediately available. We agreed on a price and the value of my trade in.Upon arrival at the dealership, Derek showed me the vehicle and we started the paperwork. The car did not have mud flaps and so he was able to get the service department to put them on while we were completing the purchase. There were no surprises and no delays. Within an hour, the purchase was complete and after a thorough introduction to the car's features, I was on my way.I have purchased many new vehicles in my life (I am 70) and this was without question, the easiest and least stressful of all. This dealership has figured out how to make the experience a customer centered event, and I would recommend them to anyone. I also love my Kia.

I was preapproved and price was pre agreed upon and application filled out online, which was nice. However, it still took more than 3 1/2 hours after my appoinment to sign paperwork to leave with my vehicle....actually fell asleep in their lobby because it took so long. Still haven't received my floormats either, but don't want to waste hours trying to get them.

We searched the Internet and concluded that the 2017 Kia Sportage EX AWD would likely be our choice, then contacted Steve Kaney who helped us in 2012 with our purchase of a 2012 Kia Soul. I called Floyd (I was referred to him by a friend) and told him what I was looking for as I wanted to purchase a particular car for my husband. He located the car quickly and called me back with the price. I came into the dealership to see the car and was treated very well. There were NO surprises and there was not any pressure. They answered all my questions. I typically get very stressed out but this was so straightforward and easy! I worked with Floyd and Steve both were great and professional. Financing was easy and I was in and out in about 90 minutes which included test driving the car. The car is perfect and I could not have asked for a better experience. I would highly recommend Ron Tonkin. The best part is we went back to have an additional feature (my husband decided he wanted) added to the car and that was simple! Floyd coordinated everything and it went very smooth!

I bought 2 cars from Ron Tonkin Kia and both transactions were smooth and didn't take all day. I went to a different dealership before Ron Tonkin and they went back and forth with the manager and the salesman and kept trying to come to an agreement. I left and found another car I wanted at Ron Tonkin. The salesman was nice and we came to an agreement that would work for both of us before he went to his manager and it was approved.Very pleasant experience and if I have a trade in later on, I will see what the Ron Tonkin car dealership have before going somewhere else.

When you think to yourself I want to buy a car. The first thing that comes to mind is I don't want to be at a dealership all day long. Also I want something that I like and not what the sales guy think i finance. Well on 5/20/16 I was online found a few cars I liked at RonTonkin Kia did there online credit app got a phone call a hour later to come in the next day. So you know what I was thinking about being there all day the car I liked was a bit high in price. So I went out there meet the sales guy who turned how to be. Honest, not pushy, didn't drag his feet in not one part of the deal. I asked when I first meet him if we could get to the point and that's what he and the finance lady. I was in a total of 3.5 hours that including the car I got was in Gresham so we drove there to pic it up and I had to wait for them to wash and take off a decals. I recommend that if you want people that are going to listen to you in your car buying experience. Please go see Steven and Rebecca out at RonTonkin Kia

This is the second time buying a new Kia Soul. As before the buying experience was excellent and the process went smoothly although we drew it out over a couple of weeks making a decision to buy. The car was selected and price was agreed upon. Nicest salesman ever both the first and second times. It was after this that the process started going downhill. The person writing up the documents had to redo them several times as there were errors (12 times for one form!). After a bit of scratching our heads and wondering why we had to deal with this we gave them a bit of leeway thinking this was the end of it. But no! After that we had issues dealing with discrepancies between what we got from the dealership and their submittal to Kia Motors Finance. We could not sign on and the date the payment was due was advanced 15 days from what we were told. In fact the payment was due less that a week after we received the paperwork from Kia Motors Finance. Our payment was almost assuredly going to be late so we had to express mail the check. We have pristine credit and this was very concerning as we were convinced by the dealership to use Kia Motors Finance over our credit union. Bad decision on our part. It would have been better to forgo the incentive and take the 1 point hit on the interest rate if we had known the problems. They also have messed up contact information. We were assured it was now correct. But calling in two days later and trying to bring up our account was a nightmare - they still had it wrong. Either their system is hosed or someone is not being very truthful. I am almost certain it is not correct to this day and someone has been receiving calls regarding the car. Attempting to get this straightened out has been a very stressful situation. We have been made to feel like we were stupid and not worthy of respect. Multiple personnel have been very rude throughout this process and acted like were annoyances rather than valued customers. By looking at the reviews it seems like some customers are treated nicely others are not. So much for valuing all your customers. The only bright spot is that the salesman treated us nicely. I am sure he is not going to be happy when he finds out he lost our future business due to his co-workers.

The interactions I had with both the management and the salesperson were above expectations. Sincerely nice and pleasant people to be with. I never expected I could have so much fun at a dealership, but the salesperson and I had such a great time interacting.When it came to price, this place offered the best bang for your buck. I have spent a couple weeks perusing ads, reviews, etc. and finally getting reasonable offers was so rewarding. The salesperson even followed me as I drove to drop off my rental car. I was pleasantly surprised by the initial counter offer and decided it was worth pursuing. I drove my rental car up to Gladstone and meet with the dealer I spoke with on the phone, Nabil. He was extremely well informed on all aspects of the vehicle and even though I researched this vehicle extensively, he still managed to have some surprises to offer. The dealership manager was definitely one of the nicest I've encountered. Personable, sincere, reasonable. Through our interactions we were able to come to an outstanding deal and I walked away more satisfied than ever before at a dealership. Nabil even offered to drive the new car behind me as I returned my rental car. That way I was able to ditch the rental and leave with my new-to-me, Certified Pre-owned 2011 Kia Sportage (still under warranty!)

Im disabled. They took advantage of me I couldn't walk. they kept pressuring me to stay and they would bring paperwork outside to me in my new car they would not let me leaveI bought a car for 11000 I paid it off in 3 months I traded it in and was forced to buy another car. I called them 3 days prior to Memorial Day weekend to look at an Audi A4. That morning the car wasn't there I said I wanted to see it. Got taken to some storage lot where the car was sitting uncleaned from the previous owner. Not yet inspected. Drove it, loved it, wanted it. The salesman mocked my credit score telling me I should feel lucky I even qualified for a loan after they worked so hard to get it for me. Come to find out it was the first call they made not to mention in house financing. I had voiced my opinion on wanting the timing belt checked through a pre purchase insoection. The salesman said "This is Ron Tonkin we check our vehicles from bumper to bumper we have higher standards then anyone else. So like a dummy I went along with it. I decided to go along with the deal but had to wait for the car so they could inspect it. A week goes by and they said due to the holiday they had just finished my car. I asked what they did and they said new tires and brakes. "The car was sound" I asked my salesman about the timing chain and he told me he didn't know they don't look at that. ( After I was told they did days prior) They jacked up my interest rate 4% on the contract which when asked was a simple mistake. So I had them re- do the paperwork. Finally I get the car. It was beautiful and freshly detailed. I drive off the lot Oregon City bound and not even 2 lights down the gas light comes on. Thanks for the fuel!! I put 50 bucks in then start heading home. I pulled over to adjust my seat when I noticed a loud noise. My new car sounded like a diesel. So I drive it back to the lot. The sales manager tries throwing me in a rental till they fix my newly acquired broken car with what sounds to be bad lifters. I tell him 7 - 10 times I don't want your car I want my old one back. Deals off.. He proceeds to tell me my car isn't mine anymore and if I want to drive it home I have to sign a rental agreement. And that its going to auction so it cant leave. Finally he walks away before I strangle him and the little lady standing at the front desk says. "Don't worry they will fix your car right up good thing you got the warranty" I said again I don't want the car and she said with her best customer service fake smile " That's the thing about contracts once you sign them they are binding" I went outside to smoke a cigarette before I come unglued and here comes the manager and the little smiling lady telling me they found a rental. I pretty much had to yell at them and say the deals off when I was told by the manager that basically this happens and that's why I have an extended warranty. It was after all a beautiful car. And they would flip the bill "this time" for whatever was wrong with it. Apparently he has not a clue how expensive fixing an Audi can be and if it gets fixed the first 3 miles I own it what else is going to happen? Finally I get my keys to my old Trusty car ask for my title and bolt.. They offered to fill up my old car to reimburse my money in fuel but clearly my thought is keep the 50 bucks as long as I don't have to step foot on that dealership lot again I consider it money well spent. The next morning I get yet another call about my car and them working on it...... I guess saying no 20 times getting my title and keys back from my trade in and demanding they destroy my deposit check isn't enough acknowledgment a deal is off... They had to call just one more time to confirm. So much more happened but this is long enough as it is. Worst experience ever.

As an update to my review from 11/25/13, I was contacted by the manager of the dealership and he apologized for the perceived actions of the staff. The salespeople take pride in doing their own work, from after hours washing of cars for the customer, to putting the license plates on the cars themselves. This makes me feel better about my experience, so I am updating my review. While the perceived circumstances were of people that really didn't care about teamwork, in actuality they were all doing their job correctly and I admire them for their equal treatment of staff and peers. The contractor assigned to perform the repair work was dismissed from further contracts as the manager was not happy with the dealership reputation that was implied by their behavior. It makes me proud to think that a dealership would go out of their way to make things right. Kudos Ron Tonkin KIA, the only remaining downside is that their dealership is too small for the demands of the current demand for KIAs and is on the crest of a hill, tucked away from southbound traffic and nearly impossible to get to from Northbound traffic. I hope they are given a larger location for better selection and easier access. Take my word for it that when there is a problem, Ron Tonkin KIA takes care of it!!!!

My husband and I purchased a 2012 Kia Sorento, brand new off the lot. The dealership obtained this vehicle from another dealership, because they did not have what we wanted. The car arrived damaged, and Ron Tonkin assured us they would make our vehicle "new" again and all items would be fixed 100%. We really enjoyed our saleswoman , who was very nice, but felt pressured because we really needed to replace our second car. Items needing to be repaired were noted in writing, and we signed the paperwork, purchasing the car for full sticker price. That's where our trouble began. We took a trip out of state in the car shortly after purchase, and brought the car into the dealership to have the repairs we had been promised completed when we returned ( we had had to reschedule an appointment before our trip because of illness). I was told we would have a loaner car- when we arrived, there was none and I was sent to a rental agency down the street, where even after assurances that the dealership would cover the cost, a rental charge was placed on my debit card for the rental car. The car I received was FILTHY. When I arrived to pick up my car, it was Friday the 13th. I explained my dissatisfaction at having to pay for the rental, and the service manager told me had "no idea" that customers were being charged for deposits on these cars, and he would "look into that." I was also told my car was "overdue" for an oil change, at 4,800 miles. I was told the Kia service manual I was provided was "wrong" and that our salesperson was "wrong" when she had read us the maintenance recommended by Kia. The service manager then admitted to me that it is the dealership that recommends oil change every 3500 miles, and that he "personally owns 2 Kias" and changes the oil every 2000 miles. Thats fraud to drum up extra revenue for the dealership. I left with my car, and unfortunately, did not do a full inspection of the car at the lot. After stopping for groceries, I found bumper damage, and black marks all over the back interior and headliner of my car. I immediately called the dealership and the service manager A) apologized to me B) said it has been a "horrible" day and C) promised me that if I brought the car in again, the dealership would fix all damages to my car. I returned with the car, and this time a very nice loaner car was waiting for me. When I returned to pick up my car, not only had the repairs NOT been completed to my satisfaction ( and I stated this in writing upon pickup) the service manager was now cold, rude, and arrogant. He now informed me that the dealership had previously noted damage to my car, and so "as a courtesy" had buffed my bumper, but that is all they were willing to do! This was a BRAND NEW CAR! It had no scratches, dents dings or damage when I brought it in to be repaired, and I have copies of all repair paperwork. I also have time and date stamped photos that show damage to my car upon leaving the dealership the day the "repairs" were shoddily done. I left my number and name and purchase date at the dealership with the salesperson who sold us our car, and the owner/general manager NEVER returned my call. I filed a complaint with Kia corporate, and worked with them ( they immediately sided with the dealership, even though I had photos, video and my service printouts showing no damage) and they quit returning my calls. I didn't ask for a new car, any monetary offers, or anything but my $31,000 car to be in the same condition it should have been when I bought it. Excuses from the service manager were "well , you had a lot of stuff in your car when you brought it to us." Yes, I sure did. I had a small Rubbermaid tray of cleaning supplies and a plastic bag of rags, a 12x12x12 box being mailed out of state, a fabric bin full of folded cloth grocery bags, and a brown grocery bag full of clothes going to Goodwill. Not one of those items could have caused black marks around the site of the damage, which is on the roof and side of the car, around what they repaired. We also have a ticking noise when the fan and air conditioner are used, a fact we immediately noted. The dealership says "cannot duplicate", even though we have video of the car and you can clearly hear the loud ticking. Ron Tonkin told us "Kia corporate doesn't care that you have video, they only go by what we tell them. " We are DEEPLY dissatisfied with this dealership, and are having our scheduled maintenance done elsewhere. We do not recommend this dealership as a place that stands behind their vehicles or their service. They are dishonest and deceitful. We have paperwork, phone records, photos and video to backup everything stated here.

I had a fast but pleasant experience at Ron Tonkin Gladstone Kia. I ended up buying a Soul, this being the 3rd car I've purchased from this particular dealership. Regretfully I ended up changing my mind on the color of the car, the next day after purchasing it. Normally this would be a huge ordeal with many dealerships because once the vin of a car has been registered they have to sell that new car as used. They still worked hard to find me the exact car, color, and options I wanted, so I could walk out happy. I do, however, recommend knowing exactly what u want before purchasing it, so u don't have to return it, but know they do try to do there best to make your experience pleasant!

We had a wonderful experience at Ron Tonkin Kia. From the moment we drove up to the second we left. Moe (the salesmen) was very friendly, helpful and NOT PUSHY. Rebecca the financial manager was extremely helpful and very KNOWLEDGEABLE. She put in the extra time to get me a lower rate and an extended warranty without making my monthly payment higher. Over all my experience was wonderful and I will return when my wife needs a car.

I set an appointment up two days ahead of time. Requested to look at 2 or 3 specific cars. Upon arrival none of the cars where there. They tried to upswell us to cars that we were not interested in and $3k+ over the budget we had told them. Turns out the reason for requested cars were not there was a commission dispute between their own lots. All of a sudden they straightened out their commission drama and those cars became available. The whole process was very distasteful, really a cliche. Turns out the car we did buy had mechanical safety issues. Brakes completely worn in the front, brakes in the back not adjusted at all so they were not operational. I am not exaggerating. Struts where 100% shot. I trusted them because they were a reputable new car dealer. Boy was I wrong. Avoid this place. BTW; this is the second time I've attempted to out this review to cars.com, the first one never published. Hopeful that this one will be.

Derek went above and beyond what I expected to get the the deal I wanted on precisely the car I wanted. He did most of the work over the phone and I spent barely an hour of my time in the dealership. I really felt as if he bent over backward to accommodate me. I've bought my last two cars here and it's always been my preferred dealership but this time was exceptional. No pressure to get what I didn't want and was treated with respect the entire time.

We called Ron Tonkin Chevy dealership on Saturday asking to go in and see a Toyota truck. He said it was at a neighboring dealership but he could have it brought to them. He called us Sunday morning to inform it was a Ron Tonkin Kia specialty car and had to be sold there. We said fine and called Ron Tonkin Kia. We asked if we could come see the truck. He said he wanted to make sure it was still there and he would call us back. He called back to let us know it was in the shop. We asked when it would be out. he said Monday, so we set up an appointment for Monday at 3pm. We get there and are told they can't sell the truck because they just found out 15 minutes before we arrived that there is frame damage. As we were leaving they were trying to get us to look at other cars(much more expensive and not in our price range). I feel like they only wanted to get us into the dealership to try and sell us something else and that there was nothing even wrong with the truck. We will never deal with them again and I suggest you stay as far away from them as possible.

We went to this dealership twice and was assisted by the same salesman. The fist time we sat inside a car where, after starting the engine, noticed the check engine light was on. In addition, something was squealing so loud we were uncomfortable to drive it and left. The second time we went was because we found another car on Craig's List and it looked nice at first. After a mile or so of test driving, this car also started making a squealing noise. Even though we were going to try and make a deal, this salesman showed no interest in even talking to us when he found out we wanted to trade in an older car and suggested we just sell it our self. We were offered no hospitality and didn't even sit at a desk but were told to wait in the lobby. It was the most uncomfortable and insulting experience we have had in a long time. This experience fits the stereotypical "used car salesman" and we would never recommend anyone shop here.

I just purchased a 2012 Kia Sportage. Elizabeth Salazar is the internet sales rep who worked with me, and she is the reason for my posting here. This is an opportunity for me to say out loud that she's probably the best auto sales person I've dealt with over the more than 40 years that I've been buying cars. She worked hard to accommodate me in my choices with my vehicle...and her honesty was very surprising to me. For many of my vehicle purchases, I've felt that I had to be extremely vigilant in order to keep from being fooled into a deal that wasn't right for me. Not with this lady! She was sensitive - AND has a sense of humor with a pleasant personal approach to selling to her customers. Maybe the auto sales industry needs more of these women - to do business with other women. I contacted other dealerships prior to Ton Tonkin Kia. The gentlemen that I dealt with didn't seem to take me seriously. They were blatant in just wanting to push me into pricing and options that weren't a good fit for me. When they found that I didn't WANT what they were pushing, they were ready to write me off. Elizabeth stuck with me - even sharing some humor over the process. It only took me a day...ONE day...to find the vehicle I wanted, qualify for lending, then make my decision. Women...go see this lady!!!

I'm sad to say that I seldom take the time to write a review, good or bad, to share my experiences with buying transactions. I just had to make time to do this one. I've purchased many cars over the years and I've had fair customer service and sometimes even good. This is my first time dealing with Tonkin Kia and my experience was OUTSTANDING! Much of the reason for that has to do with the sales rep who made sure I understood everything about my new car and bent over backwards to make sure that I was able to have a smooth car buying experience. I would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone who asked. Great job!

Very high pressure sales. Once they found out we liked a car they weren't going to let us leave until we signed. Very abrasive. Since we had not checked their prices on line first they started the price their asking price 3k higher than what was posted online. Also on the quote sheet they gave us at first put in an extra $2500 for extended warranty. I felt like I was back at an old time shyster lot. All buyers at all lots should beware adding extras is a common tactic these days.

My service advisor, Julie Hogue, scheduled my service appointment, addressed all my concerns and questions about my 2011 KIA Soul and made sure the vehicle was ready as promised. I had two issues with my vehicle and the service technician was able to locate and resolve the problems.The service manager, Mike Downing, is on top of everything in his service department and took a moment to say "hello" which is very personable. Dan Boege in the parts department is awesome and always available to discuss accessories for my new vehicle. Overall, my experience with this service team exceeded my expectations!!!

We've been in several times. Each time, we have had to go back because something wasn't working correctly (sometimes the same day and sometimes a week later). Today, when we had a problem, the first words out of their mouth were "we didn't do anything". In addition, when my 18 year old daughter took the vehicle back in after my husband had called today, they were very rude to her. When my husband and I arrived, we were also treated very rudely. When we asked to see the service manager, Mike, we were treated even worse. Not only did they immediately deny any wrongdoing on their part, they also refused to listen. This was the worst example of customer service I have ever seen. We will never return and it has given us a very bad feeling about Ron Tonkin dealerships and Kia in general.

The customer service was supior and an amazing experience. Greg, Al, Robert and Floyd were all so welcoming and friendly to me that the next time I come in I know I will be well takin care of. A promotion was going on with a voucher re: recieving 2 portland trail blazer tickets. Well after I purchased the car I really had my heart set on going to a blazer game, well when I went online to get the tickets the promotion has ended (they ran out of tickets). Al one of the sales reps actually offered to give me his own personal Blazer vs. Lakers tickets. I was so amazed how well I was takin care of.I will never forget about my first car buying experience.
