I had intended to just get some prices when I visited the St. J dealership. Much to my surprise I drove home with a new car. The sales person showed my just what I was looking for and was able to complete the transaction and have be on my way in a relatively short time. Every effort was made to make me feel comfortable, and there was no sales pressure.I would recommend St. J dealership to anyone looking to purchase a car.

Bought my first Subaru here five years ago. January 2016 decided I would like a lease instead. St. Johnsbury Subaru told that I could not have one, but that they would sell me a brand new car and after one year I would be able to trade it in for a lease option of 3 yrs, 15,000/per year and no money down.I only had two years of payments due on my first car and in no way should it have created an "upside situation" with the new Subaru. Low mileage and excellent condition, but apparently it did, because I am $8,000 upside down and have absolutely no options at this time.My recommendation to anyone buying a car here is bring your lawyer.

It was very convenient to be able to schedule my service appointment online. I also like receiving useful coupons by email. I especially appreciated the friendly, knowledgeable and professional service rep. It is refreshing that the waiting area is so nice and clean with comfy chairs, tv, current magazines, complimentary coffee and water, a snack machine, and even a (fake) fireplace that gives off heat. If you have to get your car fixed, this is the place I recommend; always a pleasant experience.

We went to St. J because they had the best online selection of used Subarus in the area. St. J already had a decent reputation in my eyes, as a family member had bought from them a few years ago and had come away with a positive experience. Overall, my experience was that St. J was above average as far as friendliness and willingness to show us as many vehicles as we needed to look at to make a decision.However, once we had chosen a vehicle and it came time to negotiate and work out a deal, things slowed down considerably. We had to send the sales rep back into the "numbers room" several times, due to math errors and horrible interest rate projections. They claimed this was due to not knowing what interest rate I would qualify for, and not wanting to over-promise a rate that was too low. (So why not run the credit inquiry before coming back with a quote? What does that take -- 2 minutes? 3??) Also, I had to do the math myself, to reverse engineer the interest rate in the quote I was given, because the rate was not explicitly disclosed in the initial "monthly payment" proposal. It was something like 9%... Ridiculous.I grew uncomfortable with this after a while, unsure whether this was a routine tactic to prey on those who are poor at math, or merely multiple consecutive honest mistakes. I suspect that probing for weak math, and seeing what they can sneak by customers is probably par for the course at most auto dealerships. It's a little disheartening toward the industry in general, but, not a criticism of this dealership specifically. I didn't take it personally, and it didn't burn any bridges as far as the customer-dealer relationship goes, because they were polite about it throughout the exchange.Once we had established that I was not poor at math, and we had a numbers agreement hammered out, verified by a credit check, they were relatively expedient from that point on. They weren't too pushy with the "add-on" options at the end, and we did end up purchasing one of the coverage extensions.Ultimately, I feel we received a fair enough deal for the car. I don't know about their impossible-to-prove "Nobody beats a St. J Auto deal" claim, but, I'd bet it was within throwing distance of as good a deal as we probably could have found anywhere for that vehicle. I can live with it, it was overall a positive buying experience, and we will probably return here the next time we are shopping for a Subaru.

Month of September at this dealership you received remote car starter floor mats and winter tires. Traded a beautiful jeep wrangler for an STi. I settled on a what seemed to be fair price for my trade and there was no mention of putting the money from the car starter and winter tires ( which I did not receive) on my trade to get to that price. There was absolutely no budge on the price of the STi and had no idea at the time of purchase that these items were supposed to be included in the sale. I called a few days later to find more info and did not find much so respectfully asked for the manager to call me back since he was busy that day. No call back. would of been nice for them to be up front about it and I guess I should of done more research of the ad before shopping.

Initially we were very concerned about having no choice but Saint J. Reasons were that we definitely wanted the newly released, limited availability Outback 3.6R Touring in black, and Saint J was the only dealer around within 100 miles that had one on allocation. We also sold our old car privately and needed to replace it, so we were concerned about having to deal with the only game in town on buying a new car - a process we had come to dread from experience. Happily this turned into the best car buying experience in our many decades of working with dealers. Negotiations were very open, fair and friendly, the sales staff was extremely helpful and responsive to our many questions and requests, and they made the final transaction and decisions on service and warranty options quick, easy, clear and painless. The Outback was beautifully prepped, the sales person was highly knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the new high tech features before we drove off, and the car itself turned out to exceed our expectations on safety, comfort and handling. Though they are not the closest Subaru dealer, we're hoping we can arrange our schedules to work with them on service and maintenance requirements because of this initial experience.

Shopping for a new car can be a stressful, pressure-packed experience to be avoided. Such was definitely not the case at St. J Subaru. I had previously visited another Subaru dealer and was pressured to make an on-the-spot decision to avoid my comparing their offer with another dealer. I was warmly greeted at St. J, and Zane made the experience enjoyable and stress-free. I had all the time I needed, wasn't forced into a decision, and presented with an excellent offer. St. John's Subaru was pleasant experience to purchase a new car. The sales team was professional throughout the day and made it easy to discuss various vehicle options. The financing team was straightforward and honest. The car team spent over an hour helping me understand many new features of the 2017 models, and even spent time with me in the vehicle to help with basic console programming. When I found a scratch on the outside of the vehicle, a mechanic came out immediately to apologize for any oversight and repair it. The entire team was friendly, easy to work with and respectful of my time.

I purchased a 2014 subaru legacy since my purchase I have had a oil leak. While driving I can smell oil burning been in for service 4 times in the four months I've had the car. The car is still leaking oil they keep telling me another seal is leaking each time I go down. I am very disappointed in the purchase. I've never had so many issues with a vehicle before. I should of got a Chevy like I had before.

We met with a sales manager and a sales person who were very high pressure and seemed to ignore our comment, repeated a number of times, that we were just looking and were in no hurry to purchase or lease, but wanted an idea of what the costs might be for both. After over an hour of being pressured to "close the deal" that day, we chose to leave with no deal in place. I received a call from Willum the next day, who was, again, a pleasure to deal with. He was patient with my concerns and answered any questions I had. Over the previous night my husband and I had discussed the options and made a decision to lease the vehicle, so I was ready to "make the deal" when Willum called. . Willum made the whole process easy and painless, arranging for delivery of the car and paperwork to our home and taking our trade-in on the same day. I gave the delearship 5 stars because of Willum and the ease of getting the process done.

I am a mother to a toddler. I was in the dealership all day long with my toddler the day I purchased my most recent Subaru. I was sold a used car for $7500. They gave me a measly $1000 for trading my previous Subaru, which was actually valued much higher according to Kelley Blue Book. I now have a loan in the amount of $11,000 that I'm paying on after all was said and done. Out of curiosity today, I looked up the value of my car in it's current "Very Good" condition. The value is $5,500 with 100,000 miles. I bought it at 89,000 and the value is similar now than it was then. So this car should have been sold to me for approximately $5,500. They over charged me by $2,000, they jipped me on my trade, and the service to the car was inadequate. They did some work to the car to get it up to the proper "standard." I had to bring it back right after because my brand new tire kept going flat. They "fixed" the valve stem (after I had to get management approval for them to not charge me for it), yet my tire continued to go flat. The car needed a tune-up, yet "they don't provide basic maintenance to the used cars they sell." So I now have a loan that I will be paying on for the next five years that is equal to DOUBLE the value of my car. I feel extremely taken advantage of. I completed the survey they sent me with instructions to contact me, and they never contacted me to apologize. I have been thinking about selling my car to get rid of my car payment, and now I see that is absolutely not possible. So thank you St J Subaru, for ripping off a young mom who just wanted a safe, affordable vehicle for her family. The only time I will be returning will be to take advantage of my warranty which was supposedly given to me for free, but I actually paid $2,000 for that as well. I am not giving these people a single dime ever again and I will make sure that everyone around me knows that they ripped off a mother with a toddler. Perhaps they are more honest when it comes to selling NEW vehicles, but they do not care whatsoever about their used vehicles.ONE positive is that Wilum was friendly and helpful, especially considering I had my small child with me. The Finance manager did way too many inquiries to find a bank that would finance me, effecting my credit score. I finally revived it to where it was, six months later. He should have just told me that I couldn't be financed...I am still getting letters in the mail from banks saying that I have been denied for a loan and I bought the car over 6 months ago.When Ryan told me I had to pay for my valve stem, I insisted on speaking to a manager, who then decided to waive the charge. Despite my frustrated attitude, Ryan remained respectful and helpful.

Our salesperson, Nick Lussier, was very patient with us and a nice guy to deal with. When we had to delay returning to pick up the Outlook and turn in our old Forester, Nick was accommodating. The negotiating process and all the paperwork went along OK, and we got what we think was a fair deal. We will definitely return to Saint J for our next car (unless the one we bought lasts longer than we'll be driving).

2nd car ive bought from them. Problems on problems. Took the car to their sister comapny to be inspected, didnt pass. Guess there was "a list" of issues with the car that were never fixed. Ive now made 2 trips to see them for repairs. Huge dent in my door, they said they could take care of, now saying they cant. Awesome! They must have no communication between sales and service. Would recommend going south to look for a subaru. Thats what im doing when i trade mine in.

My buying experience was amazing. I had great help and found the car immediately. I own a 2012 Subaru Impreza Hatchback and I love it. However, every time I am in need of inspection or car issues and I visit Saint J Subaru they always bring my car in an hour late. Living an hour away I usually have to be very careful how long in at the dealership because I need to get back for work. The car being brought in makes it very close to the time I have to be home and I hate how long it takes to simple things. They do a great job once it's done but the wait time could be inproved.

The one thing I would have appreciated is them mentioning and completing the car inspection before delivery. Subaru includes it anyway and it is problematic to return for the inspection within a few weeks so why not perform it at the outset.

Zane (sales) was a lot of fun to work with, and Kevin (finance) was forthright and friendly. I appreciated the fact that they drove the car to my residence (and I live in a rural area) for delivery. Once I took possession, I noticed something a little bit off -- rather than get any sort of run-around, a la you-bought-it-now-it's-your-problem, Saint J Subaru took care of the problem with Zane saying I should bring the car in immediately and Ryan (Service) taking the time to assist me and explain in detail not only what they found but what specific steps they took to fix things. Buying a car is not what I consider a fun thing to do however I discovered that maybe I was just going to the wrong places. Saint J Subaru changed my mind! From the first phone call I was hooked and had already decided that if I was going to buy a car I would be going there. Paul was my first contact (phone) and he hooked me right away. He offered great selection and prices and talked to me about a trade in. Other dealers I spoke to wanted nothing to do with that. Paul assured me that if I took the time to drive there from NY I would be leaving in a new Subaru and that is exactly what happened. When I arrived, the car Paul and I discussed was sitting in front all clean & shin. He introduced himself & turned me over to Zane who went over the details of the car. All my questions were answered and I was one my way to purchase. The dealing was done before I arrived so the process was fast. efficient and painless. Never was car buying so easy. I had been searching on line for a used Corvette for about a month but had confined my search to my local area. When I expanded the search I came across a Corvette in Saint Johnsbury, VT at Saint J Subaru. I exchanged several e-mails with the sales manager, Mr. John Martin and after confirming all the necessary details my wife and I decided to take a drive up there (120 Miles) to inspect it and take it for a test drive. When we arrived we met with John Martin who set us up with salesman Wilum Smith. We went over the standard details of license and insurance and then we were ready. The car was cleaned and ready for us to take. We did an overall inspection of the car and operated the convertible top and all seemed fine. It is common place for the salesman to join a customer on the test drive but as this was only a 2 seat vehicle, we were able to take it alone. The test drive went well and we made the decision to make the purchase. Although it was now well past their standard closing time, John Martin, Wilum Smith and the finance manager stayed until we got everything completed which took less time than I expected. Everything was correct the first time. I opted not to take it home that night but made arrangements to come up that Saturday afternoon to take delivery. Being very fanatical about my cars, I asked that they do a full detail and put it up on a lift so that I could make one final inspection of the underside. The detailing was immaculate and the undercar inspection was fine. Their General Manager, Ray, who is a Corvette enthusiast, went over the details and controls as they were quite different from my previous Corvette. The only item missing from this car was the DVD Disk for the GPS System but they took care of this and ordered an up to date one through General Motors and had it delivered directly to my house. To end this rather lengthy spiel, I have to say that even though this was over 100 miles from my home, it was well worth the drive and time as they are fully committed to their customers satisfaction and I would make the drive again should the opportunity arise.

I have had several Subarus in our long history of living in VT. They have all been trustworthy in winter and very reliable year round. I recently was contacted about trading in my 2 year old CrossTrek. I was perfectly happy with mine and was not considering trading. However, I visited Saint J Subaru while waiting for my car to have work done. Armel was very well informed, friendly, personable and not pushy. I liked several of the new features on the 2016 CrossTreks, like smoother transmission and back-up camera, but I was especially interested in higher efficiency and lower gas consumption. A week later I drove away with a new CrossTrek after a very good trade-in deal. I am very happy with my new car and it seems even quieter and holds the road very well. I will recommend Saint J Subaru and Armel in the future.

No car is perfect, BUT my last Subaru Cross trek was and is almost perfect. Aside from two battery incidents caused by not enough driving, ( days not driven drains batteries ) I have had NO problems, none, Nada, not one with the car. Could it have more horsepower as some reviewers state? Yeah, but it does not matter that much, It is delivered with sufficient power to meet most all situations. You buy a " Trek" for freedom, not speed. Yet it can handle speeds and delivers, I had no trouble driving at New Hampshire's 70 mph limit or, for that matter, plowing through snow and ice. Check out the safety equipment such as lane drift warning and so on, and the eye site technology! I have never been stuck in snow-- yeah this past winter does not count!!, but in the winter of 14/15, I found that the car always got itself out of snow situations safely, and rapidly due to its technology in handling all conditions presented to it. This time I got a 2016 ' limited Trek and after the first ten days, I find it an absolute gem and fun to drive. Subaru, historically, has great models that tend to improve each and every year. The gas mileage on my new " trek limited is awesome as is the smoothness of its motion. Try a ' Trek or XTREK today and you will understand what Subaru excellence delivers to you! The sales staff is awesome, committed to your satisfaction, and engages in negotiations based on YOUR PERCEPTIONS. I have NOT found better sales people in any other dealership in the past 40 years, NOT ONE. There are always good sales people at most dealers, but St J Subaru Sales people are precisely -- unbeatable! And we cannot forget the awesome service staff. I have known some of them for years and they are, from my point of view, actually knowledgeable about cars to a massively super competent degree--. I would not go there otherwise! They even helped me with some ideas for future add ons to my XTrek! The star of my experience was Dan Verge. This sales person was patient and had a great sense of humor that made the process fun and relaxing. He also demonstrated to me the power and safety of the eye site system. You will be made to understand its great value during his demonstration!! It can go where most SUVs in its class dare not go, and it is a real four wheel drive always engaged and always ready to take you on your trips to fishing, hunting, or hiking and touring areas. During the purchase experience, I found the discussion of optional vehicle protection plans to be somewhat lengthy, but we never felt overly pressured. One suggestion would be for the salesmen to be given a clipboard with all the vehicles listed, their mileage, and their prices to make for a quicker survey of the vehicles in the lot. The used vehicle we purchased required a repair, and Armel communicated well about when that would be completed and ready for pick up.

A couple of weeks ago we purchased our second Subaru Outback in less than 18 months from St. J. Subaru. I needed a newer vehicle, and after having a great buying experience 18 months ago we decided to return to St. J. Subaru to see what they had in late model Outbacks. We found a slightly used 2016 Outback Premium with less than 10,000 miles. The entire buying experience went quickly and painlessly, and we felt like we bought it for a very reasonable price. This car was a St. J. service loaner, and I believe it was very new on the used lot when we went to visit. It wasn't even in their used inventory on their web site at this point. It was a rainy day when we made the deal. After I picked up the vehicle I noticed some cosmetic scratches on the exterior paint that I had not noticed and I believe had even escaped the eyes of the sales team. Upon calling to inquire how to fix this, the company agreed to take the car back for part of a day and fix the problem. It now looks great. A few days later, after I had an "oh, by the way, how do I set this up" question that the salesperson could not answer. He made every effort to get us an answer by going to their service department, and then inquiring with NE regional Subaru. Still no answer yet, but I really appreciated a sincere effort to get an answer when there may be no real answer. My wife and I have bought a number of new cars over the past 40 years, and only one time prior to dealing with St. J. Subaru did we have a buying experience anywhere near this good.

Willam was my sails person and I don't think he did much for his commission. He claimed he called me twice but no meseg or missed calls on my phone. Aperently you don't fill gas on used cars when you sell them. However most dealers make more money on used cars than new. The car was clean and in very nice condition when we picked it up as I would expect. Over all I don't think Willam did much exsept tell me what you dealer could not do. I really bout the car from Paul even though he is not the sails person. Picking up the car was very quick and efficient a pleasant experance over all from your finance department.

I have high expectations of car dealerships being in sales myself and being someone who often purchases vehicles and my expectations have been met very well here....not once but twice. In the fall I got my new 2016 WRX STI from Armel and got a much better deal than other dealerships were willing to do. I liked the service so much that we got a 2016 WRX for my girlfriend from him as well and are equally happy with that experience. We were treated with respect, given a fair deal and got the vehicles we wanted, all while being treated as friends by Armel. I wouldn't buy a Subaru anywhere else at this point because other dealerships including Burlington Subaru and Twin City didn't treat us with much respect at all. We drove about an hour to visit this dealership on the recommendation of a family member from NYC, who purchased a car about 6 months ago and had a great experience. We'd phoned the dealership to let them know we were coming, and they had a member of the sales team ready to meet with us. We were interested in 2 models, the Impreza and the Crosstrek, and he spent a good amount of time reviewing both vehicles and the various options. We were able to take them out on the back roads during mud season, which was a really important part of the decision-making process as we live on dirt and need a car that can handle muddy hills. We ended up liking the Impreza the most, and despite all of our determination not to do so, we left at the end of the day with a new car! We were very happy with the service from the sales team - there was no pressure, and the emphasis was on making sure that we understood enough about the car and about Subaru's in general to make an informed decision. Would definitely recommend this dealership to other people interested in purchasing a new or use Subaru.

When I called and talked to Paul I got ST J's best price first pass which was ~ $2000.00 less than a "best price" quoted at another dealership for the same exact model.The sales person was wonder =ful ( Barry ) and the person who took us through the purchase paperwork was pleasant and efficient.The car is what I expected and I'm sure I will appreciate the all wheel drive next winter. The first tank of gas equaled 35 MPH which normally improves once the car is driven a bit. I like the fact the rear seat folds flat for ample storage. Was a little frustrated when we had an appointment to pick the new car up at a certain time and had to wait quite a it longer be use was being washed and cleaned,finally let us see it,( it had come from port) and made decicion to go thru the buying process.After doing all the paperwork wich went about normal time we then had too wait longer because we decided to do a bronze pikg which meant they had to put another coat on top of paint and scotch guard the seats,this was understandable but sale an made us feel this was usually all decided before the purchase! This was never discussed on phone,after being there for 2.5 hrs we were told where our cr was and thank you! Our salesman I the past usually did a walk thru but he said that since it took so long we could come back anytime with questions unfortunately we will not get there as we both work long hours so our children will help us figure out the radio system,def felt a little hurried at the end,although another nice worker caught us as we were getting in the car and asked if we ahead any questions. We have yet to recieve a call about our new car,which usually hPpens I the first few days and I believe it's been almost a month.

I live in the Stowe area of Vermont, some 50ish miles away from St J Subaru. I just leased my 5th new Subaru but my first from my new friends John Martin and Rose Wood at St. J. Subaru. After a negative experience with a more geographically convenient Subaru dealership i had previously leased many new Subaru's from I decided to give St. J a try. My first encounter with them was a phone call that turned out to be after hours but John Martin, manager, answered the call instead of looking at his clock and saying to himself "It is after hours, all I want to do is finish my paperwork and get home to my family". I told him what my needs and desires were and that we would be in the next day late in the morning. He introduced my wife and myself to Rose Wood who worked with us professionally and efficiently to get us in and out in less than an hour. We had leased a 2016 Subaru Outback Limited with all the bells and whistles. By the way, the list of bells and whistles is getting longer every year. The car wasn't there yet so we waited a short time for it to come in. On our 2nd trip to St J Subaru we took delivery or our new car and this is where Rose Woods professionalism and courtesy really came through. We enjoyed a little time with the finance department and got the business taken care of but then Rose spent all the time we needed to acquaint ourselves with the Eyesight system, Navigation system, Bluetooth phone system, Lane detection system, power tailgate system, adaptive cruise control system, info center control on the steering wheel, the Starlink system, the memory power seats, the heated front and back seats etc. etc. etc. At this point the sale was already made and we were happily provided with the service that went along with the sale and that sums it up for me, their motto "You can't beat a St J Subaru deal" doesn't only refer to price, it includes all the aspects of purchasing or leasing a new Subaru from the friendly and professional staff at St J Subaru.

I have never liked buying a car due to the pressure and overall impression that even as a customer, we did not count for much. At St. J. Subaru it was entirely different. Starting from my internet inquiry through to the delivery, there was no pressure. At each step, we were treated with respect. We felt that we actually mattered to them. The monthly lease was slightly higher than I wanted to pay, but the mpg on my outback is proven to be real good for an AWD. I am hoping to have it balance out in the end with a higher residual value for the outback than the other dealerships vehicles that I was looking at. I really like my outback and it will be hard to go to any other car in the future. Everyone at the office was really friendly, informative, and helpful. This is the first new vehicle that I have ever had so the dealing world is new to me. Everyone in the office explained all the terms and conditions very clearly and I feel confident with Subaru lease program.

I had been talking to a friend of mine who lives 400+ miles away in Rochester NY. He had bought a 2015 Subaru Legacy back in March. He has been so happy with his vehicle. He keeps telling me to look at them. Well, I am known as an impulse shopper when it comes to vehicles. BUT what they do not know (my secret until now) is that I research vehicles way before I go looking. So I am prepared when I look. Holloween afternoon 2015 I was bored and near Saint Jay Subaru. I stopped in and was just window shopping and the salesman wondered over, but surprisingly - no pressure. This is a first. He went and got a key to show me the Legacy inside and out. Loves it at first sight. Jim (salesman) offered a test drive. Well, I had to see what it would do, so yes. Took it for a test run and came back, I told Jim that I had looked on line and there was a specific color that I wanted (Twilight Blue Metallic). I was not seeing one in this color, Jim offered to order one up from another dealership if he could find me one. Ok, I am good with that, Right after making the offer, Jim remembers that there is a Legacy in the color I wanted to see sitting in the showroom. We wonder in, I did not have to go any further - that was the color I wanted. Jim mentioned that this particular car happened to be a step above the Limited, it is the Limited Executive. It basically is a Limited with a few more features on it. After running the numbers for my trade and the new car, we all agreed that I would be driving home in a new 2016 Subaru Legacy.. Everyone at the dealership was so friendly and helpful. I have never been there before, but I will go back for all my services and the next time I am ready to "window shop." I have had the Subaru for 1 week now and I so still love this vehicle. The dealership was awesome to work with, there was no pressure to buy. That is the kind of dealership that I like to go looking at. That is the kind of dealership that wins me back!

I was pleased with the sales staff and explained that we were under significant time constraints to complete the lease transaction. Although we agreed on the price rather quickly, I believe it also took more time than necessary to find out the details about the construction of the lease pricing such as residual buy back price and interest rate (which I assumed incorrectly was zero) For the most part I was pleased, however, I was not expecting the long follow on sales pitch for added items. In addition, partially my fault for not having the time to fully scrutinize the lease agreement, there is a $300 disposition fee. I would have violently objected to that added fee had it been identified to me. Normally when I purchase a new vehicle I do not agree to a price with sales personnel until I have seen "all" of the associated added costs which dealers now want to hide and add as "after the fact"extra costs. That may be a Subaru policy, but none the less it is extremely annoying to a buyer. . As I have been purchasing new vehicles, for cash, for 50 years, and this being the first time I ever leased a vehicle for my wife, since we probably won't need two vehicles for more than another two or three years, especially since we bought a 2015 Toyota Highlander. Thus I was totally unfamiliar with and unprepared for the nuances associated with the Subaru lease arrangement. My failure to give five stars may have more to do with Subaru lease policy than the dealership itself.

I just moved to Vermont and wanted a good winter-driving car. My salesman was Armel Mends-Cole. He was an excellent salesman and informative adviser on the different Subarus that I took for a drive. They all seemed to be good cars, I just needed to find the one for me. I decided upon the Subaru CrossTrek, mainly because it just felt more comfortable and secure, ie, had good visibility, lots of pep and the steering seemed to be quite "true" to road conditions.

In May of this year, I bought my Son a Outback to go to work. He loves the car and the great gas mileage. After I told him I needed more leg room for our grandchildren without all of the bells and whistles, he knew just what I was looking for. THAT is a great salesman. He showed me what the basic Forester had and I was sold. The great thing about James wais he didn't try to shove anything down my throat. He knew that I was pretty set on what I wanted and he had me in a new car in no time. I highly recommend St. Jay Subaru and James to everyone I talk to.

I can join the majority of reviewers by saying St. J. Is a super place to buy a car. Rose Wood is a top notch salesperson, fun to deal with and knows her stuff. We traded an older Outback and an Impreza almost even for a new Outback and then went a spent all our money with Paul on extended warranties on practically everything inside and outside the car. We left feeling happy and secure. And, because it's a bit of a trek to St. J, Paul offered to meet me at a park-n-ride, switch cars, and drive my car up for a service issue. That's what's called "going the extra mile" for a customer. Recommended without hesitation.

I liked Wilum and enjoyed working with him...he did not pressure me and was patient. The financial person was only interested in selling me extended warranties etc and I find this unappealing...maybe Subaru expects it but not a great selling point or time...I could easily have walked away for this alone. The follow up communication regarding delivery etc was poor...no a word from Friday until Thursday am which was the day I was expecting it to be delivered...would have appreciated a call before Thursday saying the plan was different. And DO NOT use Google directions...anyone living in Vermont know that they give ridiculous directions and round about...I feel really sorry for Carlos who had a merry chase around the state to get to my home and all because of stupid Google directions...look at a map for heaven;s sake !!!!Vermont isn't that big and not that complicated...we visiting nurses learned Google maps in Vermont we foolish years ago..I am surprised you still use them...he deserves a bonus for the long unnecessary drive he had and for washing my new car because of the dirt roads the construction and maps took him on..he had pride in his job even if whoever sent him on the wild goose chase...think for yourselves instead of taking the easy Google maps that don't work...a quick glance at the directions and a real map would have saved a lot of time and angst...if this is how the dealership works then I might wonder about how the mechanics do their work etc..is it always the fast easy way that computers tell them or do they think and listen etc to what the customer says...I would have been happy to give directions if someone had asked...something for your dealership to think about

I bought a 2015 Legacy lately and can give a great review to Rose Wood and the car. She was so personable and made the buying experience very easy. She was extremely knowledgeable about the car. I would recommend that Subaru not push so heavily on the warranty deal. You begin to question whether the car is a sound buy when all the things-that-could-go-wrong are listed. The Legacy has many bells and whistles which make driving it fun and leave me with a sense of security. I had to return the next day due to a recall on the car. The service department did not live up to Rose's outstanding characteristics.

I had a wonderful sales experience at St. J Suburu. I didn't feel pressured to purchase and the sales team was very accommodating to my needs. The only thing I am upset about is I am a DHMC employee and I mentioned that and put that information on my credit application. I did not receive my DHMC discount because I did not ask for it. I did not know at the time of my sale they it was offered. I found out from a co-worker a few days later. I called to inquire about it and it was too late since the sale already took place. I was told they don't make the discount public. So here I am helping my fellow co-workers. Ask for the discount! I would have saved more money if I knew about it. Anyway, I am happy with the dealership and would buy from again! I do love my new Cross Trek!!

I bought a brand new 2014 crosstrek and below 3000 miles my engine oil was empty. I was told it was a "break in period". 3 more times under 15,000 miles my engine was on empty. I did their oil consumption test and they said I was within "their" normal range. So 4 empty oil instances and they send me on my way and say nothing is wrong. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. They don't stand by their product or customers.

Getting a new car is always fun - buying one, not necessarily so. However, after contacting four other Subaru dealers and visiting two others, I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into Saint J Subaru and started dealing with James Edwards in sales. For one thing - he listened to me. James even suggested a test drive in a 3.6 Legacy since neither Saint J nor any other dealer had a 3.6 Outback at the time. Once I convinced him I was a serious buyer the negotiations progressed quickly and with no undue sales pressure. The sales manager was also helpful in getting a good value for my trade. The "final" offer was $100 less than the best offer from other dealers and I put down a deposit the very next day. The only downside was having to wait two months for the car, but that was 3-4 weeks earlier than predicted. On the day I finalized the purchase, James even took the time to wax and polish the car himself since the person who usually does that was off for the day! Everyone at the dealership was friendly and helpful. James spent a half hour sitting in the new car explaining things to me, and even made a follow-up call a few days later. I would certainly consider buying another car from Saint J Subaru in the future. Thanks, James! Now we'll see how their service is -- hopefully it will be up to the same high standards. (I can't rate "Quality of Work" yet because I haven't had any service work done at this point). By the way -- my wife and I LOVE this car! Just a personal preference, but we are glad we went with the 6 cylinder 3.6R. Gas mileage is not as good as the 4 cylinder of course, but the engine sounds much smoother and quieter and is very responsive. Still trying to figure out all the electronics (LOL). The manuals come to over 900 pages!! But is it fun to drive!!

From Paul dealing with us over the phone to Scott, our salesman who drove three different models with us (very patiently I will add) and gave us multiple pricings on multiple vehicles to us changing our minds on financing at THE last minute and the way they rolled with it, everything went as well as we could ask. Well except for the fact that the Vietnamese place we wanted to go to eat was closed on the day we test drove cars....... Scott's overview of the car on delivery was great. I love my new car. The deal was mostly worked out online, at my convenience. When I got to the dealership, I had the car all picked out. It did take quite a long time to have service do all that I had requested, but most of it was done to my satisfaction. (My only issue was that the tire pressure wasn't accurate, and we had to adjust that when we got home. They had left 50 lbs. in each tire!) Overall, I am very pleased with St. J Subaru!

Had an excellent price through the Costco Program. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us a thorough demonstration of the functions of the automobile. The business transaction was friendly,professional and modern with a computerized document board (very cool). When we drove away, a few miles down the road the tire light went on. The tires looked ok , but I didn't have a guage. When I got home and checked ,the tires were inflated to 50 psi each. I called Chris who said that was not normal and instructed me to lower it to 35 in these cold temps. I then realized the antenna was not screwed into the mount. I called Chris and he instructed me to look by the spare tire and it was there. 2 weeks later we realized the manual in the Glove Box is for the wrx/wrx sti instead of the Forester I called and told the receptionist and she said Chis would get back to me. I haven't heard anything and I haven't called back yet. I would however like to get a manual for the Forester. Overall teh experience was great and these few small issues has not been a big deal, although the tire thing is a little scary.

What we didn't know then -- but, sadly do now -- is that they had botched the paperwork. We had supplied them with the name and address of our lender when we were putting the deal together, and they used that information to transmit a copy of the sales agreement so we could complete our loan. When it came time to complete the paperwork for the Title and Registration of our new car, though, they apparently couldn't be bothered to actually look up this information from their own files. Instead, they guessed, and guessed wrong, about who our lender was. They ended up sending the title to a Credit Union that we have never had anything to do with. On top of that, they registered our vehicle with the DMV showing this institution as a lien holder. We weren't aware of this until, 6 months after the purchase, we got a letter from our own credit Union, saying they never received the title, and threatening to default our loan. Nice. When notified of this problem, Saint J Subaru did manage to retrieve the Title that had gone astray. But we are still left with the nuisance of filing with the DMV for both a change of Title AND a change of registration, so that they will reflect the correct lienholder. This is rather more trouble than we expected to have to deal with when purchasing a brand new vehicle. And all because someone in their processing dept got lazy. So 2 stars today, to balance out the 5 star review we left last July. (and, lest you think I am being harsh, I haven't mentioned the mild body damage we discovered hidden behind the temporary plate in the rear.)

A special thank you to Paul Devenger for working with us through emails to get us the exact vehicle we needed. Our request was an usual one as we needed a Right Handed Drive vehicle for me to deliver the mail. First he found us a Subaru Forester with a conversion kit. And as we were emailing back and forth a Jeep came into their lot with a factory built RHD system ready to go. He convinced us this was the way to go. I bought a low mileage (~14K) Outback from Chris Matte who handled the whole process well. The only disappointment was that this Certified Used Car - when it was up to only 20K mi - had completely worn through the brake pads on the rear left tire. (The car may have done a lot of towing in its early life.) I think that this should have been caught in the Certification process.. HOWEVER, when I called Pat, in the Service Dept., he quickly pointed out that even though my extended warranty wouldn't have covered parts such as brakes, the New Car warranty did. Bottom line is that new brakes are being installed and I continue to recommend St. J to anyone looking for a Subaru.

St. J Subaru is tops! I have bought two Subaru's and each time I can confidently say I got the best deal around. The sales team, in particular John Martin but they all seem great, is very professional and react to questions through email or by phone fast and with good realistic answers without all the sales jive. Being a woman, this is important to me because I just happen to have enough knowledge to know if they were stepping over that line just to sell a car. I have never had that happen with this dealership and feel confident when I have anything come up with the car. I actually service it closer to where I live but that is only because it would be a long distance for me to go for an oil change. I have had servicing whenever I am in the area and its always professional and great. I did have one issue with tires and the service manager once but Subaru seems to have solved that problem and is putting decent tires on their cars now. Sales are fabulous....service might need some work with the current manager.

We found the vehicle online. We knew what we wanted to buy. The whole process of purchasing the vehicle took a long time to do. Especially when we had a time limit to get back to our hometown to get our son from the babysitter. And plus doing the loan application we had a preferred bank that we wanted to use but the finance person choose their own bank to use. And plus also the warranty that we had gotten on the vehicle does not cover everything even though it is supposed to. We had a small issue with the vehicle like the check engine light came on and we were told that we could take it to our mechanic to get it fixed and your people said to send them the bill and that they would reimburse us but we have not seen anything yet.

I previously had bought 3 NEW cars from ST Jay Subaru. When I bought my used Forester from them it had small dent in the bumper.They said they would fix it. This was the fix, the got some guy to set up a tent outside on a 100 day and try to fix it. I could have done a better job with spray from a can. When I complained about the poor quality of the work they told me it was a used car and they are never perfect.The sales person involved denied that they even said they would fix it. Now my daughter buoght a car from saint Jay GMC they are doing the same thing to her. I will never buy anther car from this place. After the sale you are nothing to them.

I brought my 2 year old Impreza in for a free state inspection that they promised when I bought the car new there. They told me it was going to be almost $600 for rear brakes before the car would pass inspection. I left and had my brother who is a mechanic look at the brakes. He said they were fine and suggested I take the car to another Subaru dealer. A week later I got an appointment at an honest Subaru dealer and they said the brakes were fine and weren't even close to needing replacement. They charged me $35 for the inspection which is a fair price considering St. J Subaru was going to steal about $600 from me for a "free" inspection.

my husband and i bought a vechile through st.j subaru in feb. 2010. we bought a 2007 subaru legacy, when we did they highly recommended the extended warranty for another $1800. this warranty is supose to cover ANYTHING that goes wrong with the car. we have to pay ONLY $50.00. with this understanding in mar. 2011 we had a sway bar that needed to be fixed, mud out of the tires, and alingment to be adjusted. we confirmed before they did anything that we would have to pay $50.00 and if anything was ot under the warranty they would confirm with us first. long story short we picked up the car with a $125.00 bill. saying that some of the things that did was not covered. they never called us, they never confirmed it with us, and all they had to say was sorry. at least u know for next time. WE WILL NEVER BUY OR HAVE ANY WORK DONE FROM THEM AGAIN!!!! they lie, are sneaky, inconsiderate, rude, people. we spoke with dennis and she is supose to be the manager. no wonder why they act the way they do!

This is my first time ever writing a review, or a complaint. It dawned on me that someone could check off the "very bad" (above) strictly out of anger, rather than in truth. I assure you, that is not the case here. My daughter went to the St. Johnsbury Subaru Dealership in early December, 2009. She was interested in a used LandRover Freelander vehicle, but was concerned about the red over-heating being on. The salesman (Allen) told her that this was typical for this type of vehicle. My daughter assumed he was truthful, and correct. My daughter (Kara) is a hard working single mom with 2 young boys. Kara just turned 31 years old, and travels 65 miles to work and home everyday. She knows nothing about cars, and put all her trust in this salesman Allen. She paid over $8,000.00 in cash of her hard earned money and bought this vehicle. She never told me until after she bought it, because she wanted to surprise me. I live 170 miles away, in Mass. She found out 2 weeks after buying her car that the reason the red light is constantly on is because there was NO ANTI-FREEZE in it !!! And this was DECEMBER !! She went back to St. J Subaru, and Allen told her to put it in herself, it would be cheaper !! Not knowing how to do it, she went to a garage and had the anti-freeze put in. Two and a half months later, as she was driving home from work; ( in February, 2010 ) the car "died". She had it towed to a master mechanic and was told that it was a BLOWN ENGINE !! ... and that the connecting rod went right thru the engine !! I called John ( the manager at the St. Johnsbury Subaru ) and he said that extended warranties are not offered by him for this type of vehicle ... which he or Allen NEVER TOLD Kara !! He said that he could fix it for her ... for $6,600.00 !! WHAT ?? Kara is now out of luck. I called the Consumer Assistance Protection in Burlington, VT. today ( 3/17/10 ) and they said that there are currently 24 complaints against this dealership. Mine makes 25 !! BEWARE of this St. Johnsbury Dealership !! They are cruel, untruthful, unfaithful, etc. DON'T BUY THEIR JUNK !! Thomas Sarnack .
