My low mileage Volvo S60 burns oil. About 1 quart every 1,000-1,200 miles. The Volvo service department offered little help, other than a major expense to do a ring job or replace the engine, and left me on my own to call corporate Volvo. They said that amount of oil consumption is within acceptable limits. They also recommended changing the oil every 5,000 miles instead of the manuals 10,000 mile interval. I would have hoped Volvo stood behind their products better. If it's within acceptable limits why would I need to pay them for a ring job or a new engine? If it's within acceptable limits why do they suggest cutting the oil change frequency in half? Edit 9/21/2021- Called you back Nick, you said you'd call me back. Left messages for you twice since.
