There are other Volvo dealerships closer to me, however Volvo Cars San Diego know the value of customer service. Jarred, in the service line, though always busy is attentive and efficient. My service advisor Gilbert was promoted to service manager, Mike has been a great replacement. They return calls and keep me well informed each time my car needs a service. Easy, but not my experience with the other Volvo dealerships in the surrounding area.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS 2011 VOLVO XC60, VIN YV1M5382072296181STAY AWAY FROM SAN DIEGO VOLVOIf youre looking to buy a used XC60 or car in general from San Diego Volvo, I implore you to read this story.I purchased a used 2011 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD Premier SUV from San Diego Volvo in 2014. I spent an extra $2000 for an extended CPO warranty, and another $500 for the Enhancer Plus paint and interior warranty. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I noticed the transmission was not shifting properly. Over the course of a year, scheduling a half dozen drop off and pick ups, Volvo of San Diego, denied any issue with the vehicle and refused to make any repairs. I had to demand that a regional service technician come out an inspection my vehicle. When the technician arrived, I was denied any access to the individual and the local service technician falsified the vehicles problems during the inspection. Insinuating the problem lay with the driver not the vehicle. I was allowed no follow up. I wrote three letters to department heads within the Volvo of Northern America corporation, relaying my concerns. I received one call back, stating they were going to stand by the assessment of their regional technician.I had the car inspected by an outside ASE certified master mechanic, from a very well known shop in Escondido. Their assessment was that the valve body and all six shifting solenoids needed to be replaced, confirming there indeed was a mechanical malfunction. When confronted by this information, San Diego Volvo still refused to take any action.I was preparing documents to file a small claims lawsuit when I noticed the clear coat on the vehicle was degrading. I filed a claim with Enhancer Plus under the paint warranty. They sent my vehicle to Bumper 2 Bumper in Kearney Mesa. The first time they had my car they only completed half the work, and damaged my vehicle. There are stains on the seat, overspray on the mirrors, dents and scratches on almost every panel. Enhancer asked that I return the car to have the problems corrected. The second time Bumper to Bumper had my vehicle for a month, barely finished the original warranty work, fixed none of the damage and added new damage. When Enhancer learned that the repairs for the damage from a credible shop was in excess of $6000, they refused any further assistance. Bumper 2 Bumper refused to provide any insurance information and I was forced to file a claim through my own provider.When I learned that San Diego Volvo was interested in buying my vehicle back, nothing gave me more joy than to sell it back to them, transmission and body damage in all. This is a highly condensed version, I will be more than happy to provide any further details if it saves anyone the stress of what our family has had to deal with. We just purchased a 2016 XC90, which we absolutely love. Our Sales Advisor, Grant, was wonderful to work with. He was friendly, helpful, professional, and informative. We were ultimately able to agree upon a purchase price that we could afford, and felt that the overall pricing at this dealership was very fair compared to others in the area - based on our extensive research. Additionally, their finance officer, Kyle, did an excellent job communicating our loan options and helping us obtain the car loan. We felt very comfortable with the staff at Volvo of San Diego, and also appreciated the Volvo Loyalty program discount we were offered. When we are ready to replace our other Volvo, we will consider buying another car from the nice people at this dealership.

Both the service advisor, Gasper, and the mechanic who did the electrical installation of the SAT NAV system into my volvo did an excellent job and were very helpful, and Gasper kept me informed of when the work was finished, which I appreciated. And the mechanic that did the electrical installation helped me to get the bluetooth working, which was very nice of him. I do not think the SAT NAV is the best system ever because too much of it requires wifi. And given that most cell phones only offer unlimited data plans now for exorbitant prices, so it is often not possible to use one's cell phone as a mobile hot spot, I think the system at a cost of $2000 is way over priced. Half of what it does I cannot use. Other car manufacturers link functions such as local weather to the GPS not to wifi, and volvo would be wise to do the same, if it wants to remain competitive. I regret now spending so much money on this system. But the service I received as far as getting it installed was excellent, so no complaints there. And my volvo S60 T5 is a fantastic car, best I've ever had.

Took my new car in for its first service inspection Received terrible service from a Service Advisor named Julian. When I called to share my concerns, the person in charge of handeling customer service issues was equally rude and unwilling to help. Customer Service seems to be an issue from the top down. My whole Service experience with San Diego Volvo has been extremely disappointing.

I had a very pleasant experience buying an XC60 at San Diego Volvo. I did lots of research and figured out that this was the car for us as we were returning back from an assignment in Asia. The whole experience was extremely smooth as I managed to go through the whole process with Sergio of finding the car, agreeing on a price etc., more or less completely via Email before I arrived at the store to sign all paperwork and picking up the car. Sergio was very pleasant to work with and has a very friendly attitude, as did the rest of the folks that we met at the dealership. The only thing missing was a bottle of Champagne in the glove compartment.. The car(a T6 drive E) is amazing, btw. I can't imagine anything being better as a family car for people like us who are in to outdoor activities such as camping, cycling, skiing and so on.. /H

Our toddler was starting to be very rebellious with the rear facing car seat. We could not travel far without him crying relentlessly. So we decided to look for a minivan or an SUV. We settled with a Volvo XC60 as it is not that big and it is fuel efficient. We looked at websites and found that the San Diego dealership had a year end sale and rebates on going. We apprehensively contacted them not sure we can afford the car since we never had a loan before and we wanted it to be affordable monthly. Sergio Curiel then contacted us but we never replied at his first few calls and email as we initially thought we are just going to waste time. But then one day we just decided to apply for financing online. This is where the ball started rolling as we were able to discuss figures. When we were not able to go to San Diego at the cut off date (we live 2 hours away), they were kind enough to extend it to us for the following day which is a Saturday. Sergio was kind enough to be there on his day off and showed us the features of the car as we never had this technology before and we only researched it online and on youtube. When we came back the paperworks were ready and it was fast and easy. We also found that Volvo financing allows us to prepay part of our loan without any penalty and fees. This is very helpful since we plan to use our tax returns to pay part of the debt and save on interest.

The service people who work here are really great. They're knowledgeable and so friendly. I've taken my car there for over five years. I purchased my car in Irvine, but had a horrible experience with their sales staff. So, I never went back there ever. So, I'm really pleased that I found San Diego Volvo and they treat me so well. I'm also happy to see that there is not a constant turnover of service people. To me that means they are happy with their jobs and that San Diego Volvo is treating them well. Following my experience with SD Volvo I will be bringing in my S40 for periodic service including oil changes. I feel assured that the vehicle inspection that is included with this service is being performed by Volvo knowledgeable personnel. It might cost a bit more than the 19.95 offers out there but the reliability of my vehicle is very important. The free shuttle service to and from the dealership is something that will keep me coming back. It saves a lot of my precious time. Oh yes. They completely wash the car including the wheels! (At least a $15 job alone)I look forward to many other business to follow the SD Volvo model for friendliness and customer service.

I was recommended here by Brian at August European to get an oil leak fixed in my 2001 Volvo S40. Frank Perez helped me out with the paper work and George Collins the master tech looked at my car. The VVT cam seals needed to be replaced. This is a very specific repair. It two days to complete the repair. Frank arranged a rental for me that was covered by Volvo that was a great help. The final price came in under what I was quoted. The oil leak was fixed and I am very happy with the work. Frank Perez was very professional. He gave me all the options to consider before going ahead with the expensive repair. I am very pleased with this dealership!

Julio and his team went beyond expectations - one of the S60's features are driver enabled flip down rear headrests, but for some reason one of the headrests would not tilt when the control button on the console was engaged. Despite a heavy workload, his technician spent several hours, disassembling the headrest mechanism and replacing the component that was not allowing the release on the headrest.They even had the courtesy to pick me up on short notice back to the service shop so that I could pick up the vehicle in time so that I would not miss meetings that I had scheduled, but were dependent on me having the car back by a certain time.

Sergio was incredible with his service and knowledge in a very sensitive situation as I was buying a car for my daughter and husband. he was able to answer all questions and did not pressure us...gave us many options and I ended up trading my car for a newer XC90 2011 and my daughter got a Jeep...so we both walked out of there very happy....This is the second time I buy a car from Sergio...we will use his services again.....

I was looking for a used CRV for about a week when I came across a killer deal here. I drove all the way down from Orange County to this place (and a couple others). It was definitely worth the drive. Jesus Cacerra was incredibly helpful, laid back and awesome. There was no BS with him. I dealt with a lot of jerks who wanted blow smoke up your A this week but he wasn't like that at all. He was totally honest and got me a great deal from the start. No back and forth nonsense.The manager, Glen, came over to introduce himself. He was super awesome too. The finance manager (I think Ralph) also introduced himself. No body was pompous or jerky. Upfront, stand up crew.I ended up going with a different deal (by no fault of San Diego Volvo, just ended up preferring a different call) and Jesus texted me to follow up and was so gracious about me going a different direction. No guilt or pushiness at all. He just said Congratulations and he was glad it worked out.I recommend this dealer to everyone.

My sales rep, Sergio Curiel, was great! I spotted a used car on the internet and when I came in Sergio was there to help me. No pressure, and he was very informative about the strengths and potential weakness of the car I was looking at. I really appreciated him walking me through the autocheck vehicle history report and all the things the service dept had done to make sure the car was in good shape. Finally, when I had a small problem with acceleration on the 1st day, Gary welcomed me back and took care of a small spark plug issue. Overall the dealer and guys were great, I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a new or used car!

Oddly enough we were looking for a Ford Edge for a family member. We call Volvo and Sergio answered the call. I was amazed at his knowledge regarding the used Ford they had on the lot. We have now bought two cars from SD Volvo and worked with two different sales reps that were both excellent to work with. The shopping experience was low pressure and comfortable. We bought one certified pre-owned Volvo that we were very happy with and then very recently a pre-owned Subaru. I highly recommend this dealership and Volvo vehicles. Thank you to Sergio and to Adrian for such pleasant buying experiences. I haven't had any real work done at the service center-- just an oil change and a battery replacement request-- but I would say that the customer service is a little lackluster over there.

Volvo was not my first choice, but it was among my top 3. Working with Richard H. changed all that. He's friendly, patient, professional and a straight shooter. He took the time to answer all my questions, never pressured me, and in conjunction with Ralph S. (sales manager) offered me a great deal on a 2013 S60. The financing was quick and easy, and they beat credit-union rates by a quarter point - here Edgar M. was the guy in charge, he explained every number. When I took delivery of the car they had it ready and shiny. They all took the time to explain the car and helped me configured some of the features. These guys were so great that we brought them a pie, and sent a letter to the owner with our heartfelt appreciation. Last but not least, the car is awesome!

I didnt have time to shop for a used car. I knew what i wanted (S60) and I was able to handle much of teh "shopping" online saving me valuable time. The salesman was friendly accomidating and the whole process was a breeze. I do wish the vehicle had an additional key - i wa disapointed that there was only one ket and no valet key.

I took my 2007 S80 here(Volvo of San Diego) and basically wanted some performance springs installed instead of the stock ones, which I provided from a very reputable Volvo specific aftermarket parts manufacturer. I also wanted an emblem replacement on the rear. I took my car in very early in the morning and didn't get a call until late in the afternoon saying that they didn't suggest that I have them installed there. The rep then told me that they needed to keep my car overnight because they never got around to the emblem replacement. Not exactly sure what took place that entire day which is my main frustration. After initially quoting me a few hundred, the rep then said that it would cost $750 or more to install the springs based on their specific pay rate per this specific type of service after taking a closer look. They also said that anything related to the springs would void the warranty if directed related. It's a 1" difference in suspension height, very minimal. Similar to having a few passengers in the car, not a huge difference. So they at least referred me to an alignment specialty shop nearby who installed them for $395 within 2.5 hours time, very fast. Though I had to take my vehicle back the very next day to the same alignment shop because the car sounded super squeaky and creaky while in motion, turns out they didn't lube the plates properly, or so they suspected. That didn't work either, then I took it back again and they replaced the plate, that didn't work either. I took it back again and they adjusted the plates, still didn't work. Now as I edit this review several months later, I'm still stuck with a beautiful luxury car that creaks very loudly while riding in and can be heard audibly outside the car as well, drives me nuts, literally. I would take it back again but it would be the 4th time and I can't keep spending entire days as a business owner driving 30 minutes each way sitting at an alignment shop for hours at a time. I blame this on the alignment shop of course but I still was not impressed by the lack of communication and time wasted by this specific tech. I am not knocking Volvo overall but this experience was not great based on my experience with the Volvo tech and the quality of the referral work done. The emblem update Volvo did though turned out REALLY nice.

First, I found a great car Volvo C30 with Safe and Sound program from Volvo website. I then requested a quote. Peter Chong from San Diego Volvo emailed me about it and we were talking for about three weeks. I explained that I have a Honda Accord 2007 ($12K balance) for trade in. Also, I came by to drive test drive; this was on January 24, 2010. I was with my mom, Anita Serrano, as a co-signer just in case. We filled out an application where my mom would be a co-signer. The first offer has $3500 down, $12K trade in value (rather than blue book $14K), 5 yr term, about $600+ monthly. I said no. The second offer $2000 down, everything same. Then finally, no down, 5 yr term, with about 6.2 apr, less than $600 per month. We said yes but given my mom would only be on application as if she was purchasing it. But then they know that I would drive the car as it was originally for me. With my mom's about 750 credit score, we thought that the deal was a deal; we took the car that day. Jenny from Financing, however, called us to increase apr to 6.7 or $9 more payment on 29th, due to insufficient income. We agreed; so my mom had to re-sign a contract on, I think Feb 1st. Then, Jenny called to recall a car a couple of days after. We returned the car Feb. 5th; however, Jenny was unapologetic, indifferent, unsympathetic, and has no customer service whatsoever. Me and my mom drove over (with my original car Honda) next two blocks to BMW of San Diego on the same day Feb. 5th. We gave them same info. My mom had to apply or has to purchase the car. With the same income we provided them. At about $6000 more on financing (at 2.9 apr), I'm able to purchase a bigger car with "above and beyond" and efficient CSR from sales all the way up to financing. Even the receptionist was friendly. I don't understand why we could not receive the same excellence. I had to call in sick and also my mom had to take off work just so we can accommodate bad service, disorganized company, with questionable business practice at San Diego Volvo? This is unacceptable to us.

Visit: Piece of re-bar damaged undercarriage - Turbo Intercooler and Radiator. Major bucks. Follow up on poor review I left in November. After a rocky start - NOT DUE TO OUR Service Writer Viv and his top team - we got our loved Volvo back and excellent shape. I would trust Viv to do the work needed IN THE FUTURE. My car was taken into San Diego Volvo on Friday, 0900. I called in on Thursday to set this up / explaining problem. ***I left note ( Note left on front seat of car explaining problem to service dept. - clearly printed, with broken part. ) , and called in to service dept to tell them the problem. I was supposed to get a call back on Friday afternoon. I called them at 10:00AM to make sure car arrived. Service writer busy but would call me back. Friday. No call returned. I called in on 0930 Saturday - they stated they were looking at the Car and would call me back. No return call. By 1:00PM still no call back, I called in again, third phone call --- they stated car still being looked at....three hours later. Obvious lie. They had not looked at the car in over 24 hours...it just sat there. Now they are telling me that Transmission is broken. TRANSMISSION WAS NOT ISSUE. IT WORKED FINE. - they never read the note, they never looked at my car. I am not sure if they are so busy they do not need the business, but I would NEVER RECOMMEND THEM. The whole attitude is "ya, ya, we are looking at your car" - two days later, now Sunday. Maybe by Monday they can look at my car.

I have taken my car here four times for service. Each time I have had to wait double the expected time. I recently received a coupon for a free oil change because they want to bring customers back, because, let's be honest, their outrageous service prices are the only thing keeping this dealership alive. I thought I'd try it out again barring my previous experiences where they installed the wrong part on my car and installed another part incorrectly. Each of these times I had to take my car back wasting my time with no reconciliation by the dealership. I didn't receive a credit, loaner car, or even an apology. My experience with this free oil change was no different. I scheduled an appointment but still waited 2.5 hours for my car. Do not take your car here. Find an independent Volvo shop or any other dealership.

I have nothing but praise and appreciation for the good people and stellar service I have received at Wes Hinkles San Diego Volvo. I have a 1997, 960 Sedan and a 2001 V70 wagon. In the past 5 years I've visited Wes Hinkles Diego Volvo on numerous occasions and have received nothing but conscientious and timely service. As a small business owner, I appreciate attention to detail. The service managers typically greet me by name and make sure to discuss in detail the work that is scheduled to be preformed. They are attentive to any concerns I may have and are readily available to answer questions. I have two small children and on multiple occasions the Wes Hinkles staff has bent over backwards to make it convenient for my busy schedule when dropping off the cars for service. The free shuttle service back to my home or desired destination is a life saver. I feel confident that the staff is honest and that the work being done is of top-quality. These characteristics alone make for a great value. The complimentary designer coffee, good-natured atmosphere and ready smiles of everyone from the receptionist to the cashiers and passing mechanics add to the value.I have recommend Wes Hinkle's San Diego Volvo to many friends and acquaintances and will continue to do so.

This dealer is a complete rip-off. They chaged me $395 for my 15K service which consisted of an oil change, air filter change and checking all the fluids. They billed 2.5 hours at $133/hr. I called Carlsbad Volvo and they want $280 for the same service. Still a bit steep but at least it is $115 cheaper than San Diego Volvo. This place is a total rip off. Avoid at all costs unless you want to throw money away. Also, they took all day to complete the service. I could go to jiffy lube and be in and out in 30 minutes. I made an appointment and was the first one in. They still took until 3:00 to complete the service. I had to wait another hour for the courtesy vehicle to pick my up even though I only live 5 minutes away from the dealership.

My wife took her V70 in for an oil change and was up sold to a 75,000 mile service. No problem, we have had many volvo's in the past, but have never dealt with this service department. A 75,000 mile service is basically an oil, brake fluid, filter change and visual inspection of everything else. Around a 2 hour service and $250 at most Volvo dealers, but NOT at San Diego Volvo. They are charging $500 for this simple service. Does all of Southern California do this? I have contacted 5 other Volvo dealers in other States and ask them for a quote on the 75,000 mile service and how long it would take. All answered 2 hours or less and a price range from $240 to $275. BEWARE this dealer's service and over charging!

After purchasing a $54,000 new C70 at this dealership I went in for the car's first service. My car wash guy had told me to bring up stains on all the wheels hubs which had been caused due to a chemical treatment. I had noticed the stains when I picked the car up but didn't realize I should have said something. The ONLY person to have washed my car was my car wash guy (at my office building). When I went in to pick up my car the service manager told me that it was due to an outside vendor and refused to hear me out, refused to discuss it, referred me to the sales manager who had "made the decision" and essentially said it wouldn't do any good to talk to someone else because they had already discussed it....Tell me... how much money do I need to pay for a car to be heard? If I am going to buy another luxury car, it will NOT be at this dealership and my service business is going to another one in the San Diego area, one that will at least hear me out and try to solve the problem in a mutually acceptable way.

It turns out they sold me a lemon, but refused to fix it because I could not produce a paper-trail that I had the oil changed on a regular basis. They are all about the bottom-line and do not understand how to form a relationship with a customer. They would rather make an extra couple of hundred bucks on service than forge a bond with a customer. You can do better elsewhere.

After having a horrible experience at South County Volvo, they sold me a 2000 V70 that had been in two accidents and they never disclosed it. After all the lie's, after being mistreated, and after taking a hit of $8000.00 dollars because I couldn't trade that car in any where, etc. With this horrible experience I can write a book. I traded this car in at South County Volvo due to no one else wante the LEMON.I bought an S60 which so far it has been a good car with the exception that Ithad a noise that I was told by South County Tech's & Scott Hinkel Jr that It was normal. Finally two great people from San Diego Volvo took the time to listen to the noise & after dealing with this for 2 years they took care of the problem.Rachael Kuhrt custom service rep & Aron Avila Service tech, they are two of the best people I have ever delt with. Aron upon listening to the noise he told me that it was not normal.Both of them are wonderful people and San Diego Volvo should be proud to have both Aron Avila & Rachael Kuhrt as their employee's. I can't erase my horrible experiences with South County Volvo and the fact that they used the wrong product to correct the noise that was never corrected. I got off work late on a Friday afternoon and needed an Oil Change ASAP because I was driving to Arizona on Saturday morning and wanted my car in top shape. I came to San Diego Volvo and was greeted promptly. I was introduced to a young man named Jakob. He told me I needed my 15000 mile service and it was under warranty. Since it was so late in the day I was nervous they would not be able to work on my car. Jakub got on it immediatly and had my vehicle finished in no time. My vehicle was washed and brought up and I was ready to go. Jakob and his staff made it their number 1! priority to get me in and out FAST. I will be back to San Diego Volvo again.

I was forced to take my car there for a recall -- after a bad experience the last time I went there I had been using another car repair facility. Both this time and the last time they called and told me the car was ready. I told them I would be there in a few minutes. In both cases, once I arrived to pick up the car they asked me to wait while they washed the car. This time I couldn't wait because I had another appointment, so I left with a dirty car. I don't see the point of telling me the car is ready if they aren't finished with it. I don't care if they wash it, but if they are going to wash it then they should do so before the call to tell me it is ready.
