Around 4,000 were built between 2004 and 2005. Meanwhile, Dodge pickup production and sales were close to the 400,000 mark, making the more pedestrian 1500 SLT much more common.For consignment, a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 with a 5.7 liter Hemi that was installed about 13,000 miles ago on the truck with a title verified 93,188 actual miles. It's got the bulging hood scoop and tail stripe of the Rumble Bee along with some nice wheels. If you're looking to tow your show car or race car, this seems like the perfect antidote. ExteriorTwo stage black paint shines brightly on this big truck and covers the crossbars of the enormous grille. A chrome bumper is a remnant of the truck's SLT model status, and the functional hood is flanked by wide fenders for an aggressive look. A step up bar allows easier access to the high cab which is backed by a short bed covered with a tonneau that's in good shape behind the rear window with sliding center. The decal stripe with Rumble Bee cartoon logo is well placed and adds a sportiness to the truck and the unmarked black tailgate and black painted rear bumper present a handsome design uninterrupted by emblems or decals and includes a tow hitch and electrical port. Inside the bed, a rubber mat covers the horizontal surface and shows use, and the bed has scratches as well. 17-inch 5 spoke wheels also look aggressive and carry 70 series tires. The only imperfection we could find was a sizable dent in the tailgate. InteriorMolded plastic taupe and gray door panels contain a number of storage bins and plastic hardware and a speaker. Cloth covers the split bench with a large armrest/storage bin that doubles as a third seat back when retracted. The driver's seat has multiple power and manual adjustments, and all surfaces are in great condition. Behind the seats, a plastic floor liner provides ample space for your toolbox, utility belt, or even a few grocery bags. There are also numerous hooks on the back wall for similar usage. Back up front we have an appropriately robust steering wheel with thumb controls in front of a white faced gauge package on a black background while the center stack is an integrated arrangement of A/C controls and an AM/FM radio with cassette and CD, a Impulse brake controller, and a range selector knob. Textured taupe plastic makes up the rest of the dash. The low pile carpet and soft headliner are in excellent condition with two floor mats on each side covering the factory carpet. DrivetrainUnder the hood we find the clean driver quality 5.7 liter Hemi V8 which was installed 13,000 miles ago and includes an Airaid cold air kit and new ECU. At that time of installation, the 5-45RFE 5-speed automatic transmission was serviced. 3.92 gears are front in the front and rear differentials and power disc brakes are employed to halt the hemi. UndercarriageFor a truck with 93,000 miles we find the underside remarkably clean. There's some surface rust on the exhaust but that' pretty typical and that exhaust is a single pipe that transects a stock style muffler before exiting out back. Torsion bar suspension is used up front and leaf springs are employed in the back. Drive-AbilityWe hoist ourselves up into the cabin for a king of the road feeling, high and mighty indeed! The Hemi sparks into action via its fuel injection and bubbles out the single exhaust pipe. We roll onto the test loop and find very good acceleration, great braking, and from these altitudes, awesome visibility. The heater blower is noisy and vibrates at high speed but every other function in the truck works as it should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. This is like a Rumble Bee from the dark side, dressed in solid black and wearing the cosmetics of that limited edition truck.
