Seller description

2005 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Roadster The Mercedes-Benz SL is surely one of the most beautiful cars produced today. From the jutting chin of its front bumper to its four eyed headlamps; from its racy front fender air intakes to the sexy shoulders over its rear tires, the SL is not only the style leader for Mercedes-Benz, but for the entire high-performance roadster segment. . This bit of praise from Autoblog in 2005 is still relevant nearly 20 years later. The 2005 SL's look modern and elegant and have the features and horsepower to back their good looks. For consignment, a 2005 Mercedes Benz SL500 roadster that has been stored indoors most of the past four years having only been used a few months out of each year. As a result of its exemption, exact miles are unknown due to the title being exempt but the 6 digit odometer shows 39,802 miles and based on the overall condition we believe them to be original. It is a stunning car with a potent engine, a hard top convertible in the right color and in great condition. The car comes with one key only. ExteriorLow and sleek, glossy black paint covers the car and is as striking as the gaping mouth of a black mamba with inky black covering every surface save for the grille, a brushed aluminum colored row of bars emblazoned with the Mercedes star. There's also a pair of gill slits on the fender vents on each side and along with the dual headlights, taillights, door handle trim, and nameplates, comprise of the only elements that are not black. The nose slants back dramatically and takes the flush mounted headlight covers along with it, leaning back to the steeply raked windshield that leads to a slightly rounded, pillarless roof and a short, rounded tail. 18-inch 5 spoke Mercedes wheels wear 35 series tires which add to the sporty profile of the car and dual oval exhaust tips emerge from the conforming rear valance. The only imperfection is a busted up chin spoiler, mostly on the underside and out of sight. InteriorBurlwood spears dress the slate colored door panels, ergonomically sound and where the quality interior materials begin. Leather clad buckets seats are well padded and provide significant side bolster support in a color that blends with the door panels and with a lower base that houses the seat controls and a storage bin. More storage is behind the seats in sharply constructed plastic panels and leather sidewalls. A sporty steering wheel contains thumb controls and fronts a dual gauge pod flanked by triangular gauges, all within the sightline of the driver and easy to read. The center stack retains a touchscreen control panel with a Sony AM/FM/CD radio and a backup camera display. Climate controls are encased in burlwood as is the shifter which is beautifully dressed in a charcoal leather boot. Plush gray carpet covers the floor with style and the hardtop headliner in a lighter shade of gray material, is in great condition. The trunk is also lined with plush carpet and is very nice. DrivetrainThe hood opens in the traditional fashion and reveals large plastic engine covers which cleanly blanket a 5.0 liter DOHC V8 rated at a healthy 302 horsepower. To transfer that power to the rear wheels we have a 7G-tronic 7-speed automatic transmission. The rear gears are 2.82 and naturally, power disc brakes are supplied at each wheel. UndercarriageClean and dry underneath and particularly tidy with belly pans under the engine and a heat shield lined tunnel through which the dual exhaust travels sporting original equipment mufflers. The car is equipped with independent suspension front and rear. Drive-AbilityPredictable for a late model well cared for Mercedes sports car, it starts, stops, handles, and accelerates well. Especially in the acceleration department where 302 horsepower eagerly moves the car along with smooth, linear power and uses brakes that are up to the performance. All the bells and whistles work well and it's back to the mall for photos. Here's a great find! An SL500 roadster in great condition with a long life ahead delivering good times to its new owner. There's no reason why this car could not be daily driven, but you can also save it for weekend jaunts if that's your preference. Toy or transportation, the performance, quality, and comfort will not let you down. In fact, the only thing that will be let down is that stunning, folding hardtop.Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8 acres!).
