On April 17, 1964, the Ford Motor Company introduced its latest automobile, the Mustang, to the world at the New York World's Fair. The idea for the Mustang is largely attributed to Ford executive Lee Iacocca with the vision of the Mustang being a sporty, youth oriented car with a long hood, short deck, and a modest price tag. While hopes were high that the Mustang would be a success for Ford, few could have foreseen the grand slam that the Mustang would become in the years and decades to come. Not only did the Mustang launch an entirely new genre of muscle cars known as "Pony Cars," the Mustang would go on as one of the most successful vehicles in the history of Ford. As the years progressed, so did the Mustang. In the rear, the taillights looked similar to the original Mustangs, albeit more futuristic, retaining the triple-lens design on each side.
