When all supporting upgrades are purchased, (supporting upgrades: M157 ASV/Water-Methanol Injection SystemWeistec True Downpipes and ECU tuning) the W.4 Turbocharger System for the M157is capable of producing 1000+ crank horsepower on 91 octane pump gas. What’s equally impressive is that these numbers are achieved at only 20 psi, and 20 psi is only the = RELIABILITYWhile the M157 engine is a very robust engine in factory form, a couple of weak links have been found at extreme power levels. The most common is a bent connecting rod. If the engine is producing a sustained 1000 lb-ft of torque or more, all it takes is one knock event to bend a rod. This was taken into consideration with the ECU tuning for the W.4 Power Package as they can make far more power and torque than a stock M157 engine can handle. With our optional ECU Tune for the W.4 package, the boost is controlled and tapered up to the peak of 20psi as RPM’s increase. This creates a broad torque curve that remains under 800 lb-ft (at the wheels) while allowing power to continually increase towards the redline, minimizing stress on the rods as well as the rest of the drivetrain. With a fully built M157 and other supporting upgrades, expect to see significantly higher power numbers as the Turbochargers can flow enough air volume for 1400+ crank horsepower!Weistec Engineering offers True Downpipes for M157 AMG and M278 powered vehicles. Replacing the small and restrictive factory downpipes delivers significant gains in power, throttle response, and exhaust and designed with the most sophisticated Computer Aided Design tools, excellent fitment, and the highest performance possible are guaranteed. Each downpipe has a specially designed CNC machined turbo outlet flange, transitioning into a 3-inch pipe and low-profile V-Band flanges to mate with our come standard with external Titanium Ceramic Coating and internal Copper Ceramic coating to keep heat inside the piping, helping improve exhaust velocity and reduce engine bay Weistec stainless steel heat shields are also included to block rising heat from the exhaust Biturbo Midpipes bolt to the Downpipes using a low-profile V-Band flange and transition to the factory axle-back. Each Mid-pipe has stainless steel brackets for solid bolt-in fitment and is made of 3-inch stainless steel piping creating a very high-flowing quality exhaust Weistec ASV/WM Injection System adds multiple beneficial components to the M157 BiTurbo 5.5L engine. The first is the addition of a Weistec Anti Surge Valve (ASV). From the factory, the M157 engine was never given any type of bypass valve. Without a bypass valve, the turbochargers are subject to compressor surge when the throttle closes after hard acceleration. Compressor surge can be damaging to turbochargers and generally should be prevented to help ensure the best performance from the turbochargers. The Weistec ASV is operated by the engine vacuum, opening when the throttle closes allowing the compressed air to be vented to the atmosphere instead of back flowing into the compressor housing and stalling the compressor wheel. The vented air produces the "blow-off" sound common on many modified turbocharged vehicles. This specific product is for the bigger-bodied SUVs that feature either the M157 or the M278 , is the Water/Methanol Injection (WMI) System. Water/Methanol injection has been in use for several decades in multiple applications. Originally, it was used to reduce knock while increasing power and performance in aircraft engines.
